What brought me here you may ask... The music did!!!!! I LOVE 90s/2000s R&B. I can't remember the first song that was playing, lol, but the second song playing was "You don't have to call" by Usher. when that started, I knew I had to stop in and get a drink!!It was about 11:30pm on a Tuesday night. I looked them up on Google and they didn't close until 2am. I was walking the strip after leaving Harvest where I had two nasty drinks... I was hoping to have a better experience. I did notice that a VA Beach Police Department Substation was located next door. There was like 3 bars that were super close to each other all playing loud music. There was a bouncer at the door checking IDs. My friend and I sat at the bar. I vibed to the music until the song went off, lol. One of the bartenders, Liam, gave us drink menus. The other bartender, Alexis, came over a few minutes later and we ended up having a conversation. My friend wanted food and fortunately they were still selling food. There's not food menu, but according to Alexis, they have wings, fries, lupia (eggs rolls), chicken tenders, and mozzarella sticks. The wings flavors include: buffalo, bbq, old bay, lemon pepper, and sweet chili. Alexis made us a drink that was vodka, pineapple, strawberry, and banana liquor. vodka, pineapple, strawberry, and banana liquor. Blue curaçao was added at the end. She said it was like a strawberry shortcake. It wasn't bad. I feel it would've been better without the pineapple though. I'm realizing that pineapple is probably not a flavor I like in my drinks. Coconut is another flavor I dislike. The pineapple l was throwing it off for me. The menu doesn't have any prices, but according to Liam, the craft cocktails range from $8-$13. My friend ordered some moz sticks and I got some wings. It was $16 for 10 wings. I got the old way wings. I'm not sure how much time passed between me ordering and receiving the wings, but imma assume maybe 10 minutes. They were fresh. I didn't start eating right away as I ended up having a conversation with the guy next to me. Once I said I was a psychotherapist, he stated he needed it and started talking about what was going on in his life #PotentialNewClient. On a serious note, Men's Mental Health is very important! Y'all... I made a mistake getting old bay wings. I'm thinking it's gonna be a nice dry rub, like the seasoning I have in my cabinet at home. Whew, I was so wrong. I DONT do spicy foods and these wings were just that. My lips were BURNING and my nose starting running. I asked Liam for a glass of water and BBQ sauce to take away some of the heat. (Note: I don't like ranch). The BBQ sauce helped! So, my friend paid for the drinks and food. I didn't like how Liam asked "y'all gonna leave a cash tip". I nodded and said "yes" because I was. I didn't know my friend didn't leave a tip when he paid with a card. When I asked my friend how much he left, he said he didn't leave a tip by mistake. He got the receipt back from Liam and added one. However, that rubbed me the wrong way, especially as I had been cool with Liam the whole time. Before leaving, I gave Alexis a cash tip and I asked her to split with Liam as I didn't have smaller bills to give them each one. I asked Liam about it their social media account and he provided it. In their bio on Instagram, I saw "We support break ups". A few minutes later, I notice the same saying on the wall. I asked Liam what it meant and he said "That's our motto"... Okay...? That still doesn't tell me what it means as that can be interpreted different ways but I left it alone. The vibes with him wasn't the same, unfortunately. They have a Hookah spot too in the back. I didn't see anyone doing that though. Oh! Something else that disappointed me was that after the Usher song, they didn't play a throwback until almost 1am. The song was "All Falls Down". You know I was vibing :) Overall, I'm iffy. It was great at first but then service declined after paying. Neither Alexis nor Liam checked on us. I will add that when I did ask for things, they provided it. However, when I go to an establishment, I expect service to be consistent thoughout until I leave. We didn't leave until about 1:05am. After he paid, I was still munching on my spicy ass wings and working on this review, lol. But seriously, just because the tab is paid, that shouldn't mean customers should be ignored. It wasn't that busy at all. I was a waiter in college and I'm really thankful because I think I would be ignorant about tipping had I not. I say that to say that I know what it's like to work for tips. Word of advice: Making assumptions will cause you miss you! I will admit that I really contemplated if I wanted to leave them an additional cash tip. Would I come back? Maybe... maybe not.

Tonight JOSH came up with a bs excuse to charge me $19 for two shot and I work on the strip which chemistry gives a discount for that. WONT COME BACK THANKS TO JOSH THE SO CALLED MANAGER

We stoppedIn for a pregame for the night. We are here hours later happily listening to music, drinking and smoking a pina colada hooka. Natasha was an amazing bartender. She made the entire night a blast. Thanks Natasha!!

Chemistry oh chemistry. Yeah I mainly come here at night if I'm out at the oceanfront. For the area out there it's like any other bar. It's not very big and gets pretty cramped at night when it becomes more of a club scene. It's not a bad spot but it's usually not my first choice either. It's usually free to get in which is cool and I'm pretty cool with the big white bouncer out front. (I always forget to ask his name) One of my high school friends bartends there too (Devon). It's cool they provide hookah if that's your thing. The drinks aren't expensive either which is cool so it's pretty easy to walk out of there feeling quite wavy by the end of the night.

Ohh Chemistry. When my friends plan to go here, you know it's going to be a night of bad, drunk photos; fun music to trap out to; and your friends pushing dudes either off of you or your friends because "no" doesn't mean NO 99.9% of the time outchea.People watching here is a blast as well, and it'll be full of laughter. Interesting things happen on weekends as well as Tuesdays. The place seems nicely remodeled, so it doesn't look as outdated as the other clubs lined up along "The Block." Some nights get really ugly, and sometimes the bathroom might get blown up and seep "fresh air" onto the dance floor. At which point: hold your breath for a bit, or run if you drank too much and could trigger an involuntary gag flex. All the bartenders want you to have fun, so definitely tip them. They do look out for you, offering you water when you're having too much fun. There's often a line and a cover charge past 11 on weekends, so bring cash or make it in "on time." I find the bouncer(s) friendly as long as you don't start anything. The hookah option is available, but it can be too crowded to puff while everyone's trying to place a drink order around you & spill drinks on you when they're reaching for their drink. It's definitely my favorite place at "The Block" because of great service, awesome music (like you hear a new song that week & want to hear it at the club- it most likely will drop with the DJs that come through here), and a great place to dance. It's something to experience with a good group though. Ah yes, remember to steal a couple napkins when you get your drink because the restroom runs out of toilet paper often!

Friendly bartender, decent prices, awesome music, and great crowd! Definitely happy with my choice of coming here. Not a fan of hookah nor the martini I got, but I still very much enjoyed my time here. The crowd here was friendly and the bartender gave us all shots on the house!

SUPER DIRTY AND SMELLED LIKE PUKE. This place was so gross I was mortified the walls were all marked up with stains of who knows what and dirt. The bathroom looked like a CRIME SCENE. Scented candles lined the bar to 'offset' the overwhelming odor of puke...but was not enough to keep me and my friends for more than a drink.I MUST say the bartenders were VERY friendly and made us great drinks. So A+ for service. But please clean this place up if you expect anyone to stay for more than five minutes.

Recently went to this bar. Had a decent time until i noticed a bar tender tipped themselves $37 that wasn't authorized. The number on listed doesn't work so i can't even call to get a refund. Would not recommend at all.
