In a small country town with limited options, Kilmarnock is so lucky to have this little gem on Main Street. Carried Away not only has amazing catering and to go options, but they also have vegan and vegetarian options! I came here with my Mom and sister a few days ago, and we ordered the delish veggie soup, the maple glazed butternut squash and sweet potatoes, and the dolmas (all vegan!) My sister ordered the quiche and said it was amazing. I also think the food to eat there is well priced. I am not sure about larger orders and catering prices, but I do know that everything my Mom has ordered there in the past for her parties has been Amazing. Top that off with amazing, friendly staff with warm smiles and you have the perfect little place to grab healthy and tasty lunch or food to take home for dinner. Love it!!

Nancy is one of the owners of this delightful little shop in Kilmarnock. This place is inviting, fun and delicious! We ordered several dishes for our Christmas meal. Even on Christmas Eve day, Nancy took the time to take us through each dish - how to warm it up or prepare it, how to serve it, and made sure to ask us to let her know how it was. ROASTED ROOT VEGETABLESA variety of root vegetables, cut in meaty chunks, roasted with fresh herbs. The vegetables were not overcooked. Still a bit on the crunchy side. Absolutely delicious! The seasoning was a bit heavy on the herb side but could be just our taste. SWEET POTATOES Bite-sized chunks of sweet potatoes roasted with a sweet glaze and pecans. Not over easily sweet, potatoes cooked to perfection, wonderful!PEAR ALMOND TARTLa piece de resistance was the pear almond tart. We purchased it at the last moment and wow how amazing! You might expect this tart to be overly sweet, but no. The bottom was lined with marzipan. Topped with fresh sliced pears and sliced almonds on top with a light sugary glaze. Absolutely delicious!Fantastic place!

This is a review specifically for a wedding cake - the food I ate within the store was delicious. And before I go any further, my cake was delicious - and beautiful - and was enjoyed by many of the guests. However, I would not use them again for any type of special event. Communicating with them was very difficult. I was an out of town bride, and many of my emails were not returned or returned a week or two later. The week before I got married, I received a very terse email from them stating that I had not paid my final deposit. This was after I'd asked her to requote the cake based on a new headcount, and couldn't pay the final bill until she'd told it to me. I was very offended when we did finally talk on the phone by her attitude. She told me that she didn't like using email to communicate because her email is at her home and her records and notes are in the shop. She then went on to say, "All these brides today want to communicate over email and it doesn't work for me." I was shocked into silence. You have to wonder about a business in 2013 using a personal email address accessible only from their home. It certainly didn't make me feel confident about their professionalism. So, if you want a bakery that is focused on the client and what they want, I wouldn't recommend them. If I tried to dictate to my clients how they communicate with me, I wouldn't last long. There are very few options to choose from there, which might explain her indifferent attitude, but had I known I'd have just brought the cake with me from my hometown.

One star based on the fact that this is a local business in a town where I didn't expect to find Infused olive oil and infused balsamic vinegars and the fact that they don't seem to need any new business. I stumbled across this place while walking through town and was excited because I buy a lot of infused oils and vinegars. I usually purchase these items when visiting Frederick md. So I brought in a couple of bottles that I had just finished off of Black Truffle Olive Oil and Tuscan Herb Olive Oil only to be told that they only refill their bottles. That was the dumbest business move I can imagine. I usually spend a couple hundred dollars about every 3 months on these and would spend more if I had known someone local sold it. That's the mentality of a drug dealer who rips off the addict when he buying his drugs not realizing that the addict would actually be a regular customer if he had just taken care of him on the first deal. So 1 star to a business who doesn't need the business.

Bakery items are top-notch. Nice little place with limited seating, and worth a "stop by" for breakfast or lunch. Ask to see a menu, as they seem to be hiding somewhere behind the counter. Smoothies are superb, made with greek yogurt, fresh fruit and flax seed, plus a secret ingredient -- cinnamon. Quiche is okay -- best part is you can order as large or as small a piece as you like.

What a great find. This specialty shop has a little bit of everything...great olive oil's, sauces, pasta, chocolate. They have a lovely selection of baked goods. I can highly recommend the double chocolate no nuts brownies and the pecan chocolate chunk bar. They have quiches and fresh made foods in the deli section. And I can also highly recommend the bacon Swiss mushroom quiche. Really a lovely quiche. My family gobbled it up for breakfast today. Yum.

We live near this very attractive and well-stocked shop. I bought a number of their food items for a large brunch this spring, and everything was delicious and well-packed for the trip to our house. The tomato pie was astonishingly good. The staff is warm and friendly and the products consistently good. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area. I haven't had lunch there yet, but whenever I am there at lunchtime, those who are dining appear happy! My one suggestion: Post business hours on the website. I'm never sure when they're open.
