Captain Tom's Seafood

It's timer. Very nice quiet cozy. The salmon salad was great. Sweet tea was actually sweet. Will return for sure.

This is a local staple and many people love this place but as a guy that grew up in Baltimore around bonafide seafood places there are a lot of better choices.. today I had the oyster soup. It tasted like warm paint thinner. I typically wouldn't mind if the price point was under 10, but in this case it was over 10 the salad, however, was pretty good but you can't mess up something you pull out of a bag many other locals come in for their specials if you like fried stuff then this might be the place for you One of the things I will say is the service is always above and beyond this place has great potential if they buy quality seafood and hire a cooking staff.

Captain Tom's is always a good choice for fresh seafood, and this time didn't disappoint. I ordered the Catfish platter, with baked potato and green beans, and the Flounder platter, with green beans and sweet potato fries, for my wife and me. Both platters were great. The food was tasty, well-seasoned, and flavorful. The fish was crunchy and firm. The sides were proportionately enough and prepared well. The service was highly professional, and the atmosphere was pleasant and clean.I can't wait to come back again.

Captain Tom's is always a family favorite. We drive here from Glen Allen and it's worth it. Even my grandmother, who was very picky, loved the food here. After visiting a distillery, my parents and I ended up here after another place in the area had a two hour wait. We only had two wait about 10 minutes and was seated in a booth in a bustling area of the restaurant. The service was quick and professional, the food is fresh, hot and well prepared. The prices are great and the portions are really good. Only thing I'd like to see is the addition of real butter. The peculiar tasting spread is not for me.

I came in an hour before closing and they greeted me with a smile. My order did not take long and everything was hot and fresh. My waitress was super attentive and told me not to rush because I had plenty of time to sit and enjoy. My eyes were obviously bigger than my belly when I ordered because I only ate my scallops, some of the backed potato and a few popcorn shrimp. I even stayed a while longer after packing up my food to chat with the staff. This was my mom's favorite restaurant so it brings back good memories!

***FOOD POISONING*** WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! I dined here on 12/03/2024 with my husband and mother and the food was beyond disgusting. The scallops were so tough I could barely cut them with a knife and, much to my dismay, the two that I did manage to choke down made me violently ill by the time I got home. Furthermore, the frog legs were undercooked, and the oysters were 30 seconds from being burnt to a crisp. I called the restaurant, asked for the owner, Brenda, and was then put on hold. After nearly 15 minutes of waiting, I asked my husband to call. He told the person who answered the phone that I was still waiting on the other line, and they responded by saying, "Brenda doesn't know your wife and so she's not coming to the phone," and hung up on him. This made me livid. I hung up and called back and insisted on speaking to Brenda. She finally came to the phone and asked me what my problem was. I explained our experience in great detail and she told me, and I quote, "Unless you go to the emergency room and get a stool sample to prove our food made you sick, I'm not giving you a refund." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Save your money, and stomachs, and eat elsewhere!

I look for several things in a restaurant:Cleanliness/nice atmosphereFriendly staffReasonable service timeAnd of course, good food. All this was great for our visit this week. Warm hushpuppies on our table upon arrival; our waitress, Hope, was professional and friendly; food was served quickly; atmosphere was pleasant; and our food was delicious. Definitely a five star rating!

Food was ok but wanted to brag about the incredible service we received from Justin! He was so kind and attentive to us. Kept our drinks full, checked in frequently, and was delighted to fulfill all of our requests. One of the best servers I've ever had. He's what made the experience for us today!

I've been going to Captain Tom's for 30 years and have always enjoyed the food and the service most of the time. I understand the cost of doing business and was not bothered when they recently started a service charge for paying with a card. Here is the problem, it is illegal to charge a service fee for paying with a "debit card". I would suggest that the new policy ensures that those who pay with a debit card are NOT charged a service fee.

They are ripping people off. Prices have went sky high, but I understand that in. This sucky economy. Still ever debit or credit charge has a $2.75 surcharge. On a $27.59 meal that's 10%!!!!! Credit card charges are between 2-4. %. . Please don't ask for a lemon wedge with your seafood, that's another 50 cents. The food has sucked here for awhile, but the other half likes it. I feel this business is price gouging! Unreal! People will take it out of their tips, which is lousy on hard working waitstaff. Capt Tom is probably only paying them $2 an hour where they're a restaurant. They depend on tips Last time here for me. In all fairness the food was actually good tonight. I still feel ripped off.
