Cute little do-it-all cafe! Regardless of what you are craving, you can probably find it here on their menu! Plenty of seating inside and outside, quick and friendly service, and food comes out quick! Portion sizes are more than enough to appease a college student's appetite! Breakfast platter was delicious and you can't beat the price for $10! Great mix of students catching up and also studying here - would definitely swing by here if you need a no-frills bite or a place to catch up with friends!

The place is located just off the CNU campus. So it feels just like one would expect a campus coffee shop to feel. Perhaps a bit too hip but still enjoyable.I'm more familiar with the Williamsburg location. Since we were in the area, decided to give it a try.The baristas are pleasant. The one who made our drinks was singing to the music. She had a lovely voice and it made me smile seeing her so happy. Always a good sign when the workers are happy.Now to the drink. The snickers latte is my favorite. This location did an excellent job making the drinks. Just the right blend of spices and coffee. Not too sweet and not too bitter.Removed one star because the other customers were strange. They stared at us when we walked in as if we didn't belong. They made us feel like intruders and very unwelcome. It was the oddest thing. No, they were not college students. They were all older than 50. I doubt I'll return because of this. Sorry for "intruding" on your local spot ... sheesh.

Stopped in with some friends on a Wednesday morning. Large drink and food menu. Kind service from the workers behind the counter. Drink only took about 5 minutes to make. I decided to go rogue and get an orange frothy frozen drink and no coffee! It was very good! Sort of reminds me of an orange Julius! Plenty of seating inside and even a patio outside.

I stopped in here on a whim when I was in the area. Perfect for someone dining alone or a great place to get some work done with a cup of coffee in hand. It is an "order at the counter" type of place. They have a little menu with breakfast all day items. Also tons of coffee options. They have baked goods as well (including biscotti!). I tried a cappuccino and the breakfast quesadilla with sausage. The quesadilla was MASSIVE - literally enough for two meals. It was hot, fresh, and tasty for a diner type meal. I'd recommend adding extra salsa or doing what I did and adding hot sauce to the quesadilla for a little extra flavor! Overall a great place to grab a quick coffee or bite. Easy to get to. Fast and friendly service. Large enough cafe with plenty of seating. Casual atmosphere.

I don't know why I've not gotten around to writing a review for the Captain's Den! This is BY FAR my favorite local coffee shop/cafe to work at recently. It helps that it's right across the street from my workplace, but beyond that the food and beverages are great. The portions are HUGE, so I always have half left over to eat later in the day. I've tried all kinds of stuff on the menu - french toast, waffles, omelettes, scones. Breakfast is tight. The only thing I've had that I'm not a fan of is the breakfast plate potato casserole - it's loaded with mayo or something that makes it taste kind of weird. On the lunch menu, my absolute favorite is the french dip sandwich - sooooooo good. But I also sometimes dip into the BLT or chicken tenders. I prefer the sweet potato fries to their regular fries. The soups are always good too! But what makes it super awesome is that the staff is always super friendly, and they always have some kind of decent music selection going on. Even when it's busy, it doesn't get overly loud acoustically. Overall, it's just a great spot to hang out and get some remote work done.

This is a cozy spot across from the CNU campus and a popular spot from the number of customers when I was there. Parking is nearby if not right out front. Inside is a real hodgepodge of art and graphics with a wide range of seating options. They offer Aromas coffee and a wider set of food offerings for breakfast that I've seen in any other coffee shop. I had the Denver scrambled with wheat toast and grapes at it was filling and good and a pretty good value for the money. Aromas coffee is always good. Overall a nice place to stop if you are in the neighborhood.

This is a very cute cafe near CNU and Riverside Medical Center. I recently enjoyed the iced Snickers latte and the waffle breakfast sandwich. Takeout service was prompt. The sandwich was huge with thin layers of scrambled egg and two sausage patties, but the lightly sugared yeast waffles made it exceptional (for those who like a hint of sweetness with their savory). I'm looking forward to another visit and trying other menu items!

I would have given a 5 star for food but my delivery was over 30 min late and by the time it arrived my espresso was cold and my whiskey burger was too soggy to eat with the bottom bun. The burger and fries were also cold. The flavors are great and the portions are worth the price. Unfortunately the delivery didn't allow for me to get my order fresh and hot. I would definitely order again but doubt that I will have it delivered.

This cafe is definitely the best in the area! I come here every week and the staff are super friendly and kind. The drinks are very well made and taste very homemade and authentic. There are so many cool and unique flavours and types of drinks. The food is amazing as well. I get the turkey on focaccia sandwich every time I come in and it is incredible! The service is also incredibly fast, and the food is usually ready within five minutes of ordering! The environment of the cafe is very pleasant and cozy as well. I'll definitely continue coming here! Definitely the best cafe in Newport News.
