The crabs were hot and ready for scheduled pick up. We ordered a bushel of number 1 males and they were all nice and heavy. Ordered medium seasoning and it was just right. Will definitely buy from them again!

I paid $190 for number one males steamed on saturday. I found a quarter of them barely made the limit a third of those did not make the limit. This used to be a good place to buy crabs. But I wouldn't trust them ever again it was a total rip-off maybe a half a dozen large the rest were very small. I am also contacting the game warden. Wildlife and fisheries.Beware beware

This is our go to whenever we want crabs live or cooked. It's a 30-45 minute drive from our home but it's more than worth it. The service is amazing, the product is always top level, and the prices are more than reasonable and won't empty your pockets! Best crabs we've found in the area hands down. We will keep coming back as long as they keep the crabs coming!!

Called around Richmond to those high priced seafood vendors who all said they could not guarantee a bushel of blue crab for a Saturday pickup. A friend recommended Captain Johnny's. This place is legit. You see his boat when you pull up and pay at a little trailer. They bring the crab out alive and steam it right there for you. As I waited many customers showed up so I knew I was in the right place. They were friendly and even gave me a little $ back because it took longer than they thought. Most importantly, the #1 Jimmys were really #1's and were delicious.

July 9, 2018. Took us 45 minutes to get there. The worst ever! Paid $30.00 for #1 jimmies, these weren't even #2's.All were light, poor and many were paper shells. What a disappointment. We won't be back.

A friend and myself drove from Richmond to try these crabs out on 7/4/18. We arrived around 11:20 am and no crabs available. We decide to pay ahead of time and wait for the crabs to come in. Even though there were no crabs all of the employees there were friendly except for Caroline. She leaves a lot to be desired as far as her attitude and customer service skills. She was very rude. It was really hot and I could tell she would much rather be elsewhere. My friend paid for her crabs and when it was time for me to pay for mine she walks away. When she finally comes back she states "oh you want crabs"..well I'm wondering to myself "if I have been standing in line and holding my debit card in my hand out to you at your window for the last 15 mins, then anyone looking would know I want crabs!?!?". And on top of that she has the nerve to have a jar sitting there asking for donations for her cheer leading. Are you kidding me?Well we finally get the #1 crabs around 1:15 and they are very small and they shorted me 1 crab. I will say the seasoning for the crabs were the best I've ever had but the experience was not worth it. I will be back but only to purchase the seasonings if I'm only in the area.Pro...most of the staff is friendly the manager carried the crabs to the car the seasoning is awesomeCons..$35.00 for such small crabs (and to be shorted) crabs not available that early in the day (if website or vm stated this consumers would be aware Carolines' ugly attitude.I took a pic with a comparison but can't post it on yelp.

I normally purchase live crabs from Crabs Express in Gloucester. They offer great crabs at great prices. For instance, yesterday, Crabs Express crabs were $80 per bushel. However their crabs were sold out. I had seen the sign for Captain Johnny's many times as I passed through the town of West Point so I decided to follow the signs to the store. Captain Johnny's is a trailer on a dirt road right next to the river. I ordered a bushel of crabs and paid $130. The service was very friendly and the crabs were loaded into my van. I took the crabs home and steamed them. They were large and delicious. I bet their were close to 100 crabs in the bushel. I stayed up til almost midnight just trying to cook them all. Based on my first experience, I will certainly return to Captain Johnny's.
