I had dinner here last winter and the crabcakes were terrible. My son ordered fish and it was pretty good. This week, I came back for lunch with friends and I guess I forgot how bad the crabcakes were and ordered them again, as a dinner item. They were actually worse! Mostly filler and stringy pieces of crab. The crabcakes were flat and burnt. The hush puppies were lukewarm, hard and tasteless. The fries were not hot and the coleslaw was fair. Some of my friends said that their food was just OK. Our waitress was pleasant.Sorry, but I don't believe there will be a third time for me. So disappointed.

Very cute restaurant by the water. There isn't a long wait although they seem busy! You can smell fresh seafood as you enter. There are garage door partitions to have for flexible sized seating area. There is seating in the back patio where you have direct view of the water. The staff is very friendly. Our waiter was patient in telling us portions of what we will order whether how fried oysters or shrimp etc. I ordered surf and turf. Cones with 6 oz filet or for $4 more you get 12 oz ribeye. For surf, you can choose from crabcake, scallops, fried oysters or soft shell crab. Comes with 2 sides, I chose onion rings and butter beans and corn. Reasonably priced. They have 3 choices for dessert: key lime pie, warm brownie sundae or fresh fruit cobbler. Today fresh fruit cobbler is apple cobbler.Overall I'd say food is a 4. All were seasoned except for the onion rings but the batter was good.

Stopped in for an early Saturday dinner during restaurant week and enjoyed a delicious meal! First off the host was kind and we were seated right away at a table with a view. Our waiter then was just as nice and made sure we were well taken care of during our visit. For eats we had the following: Appetizers:Salad- Fresh with some peppers and a good ranch Hush puppies-good with some butter Entree: The crabcake and fried shrimp platter with fries- all around yummy! The fries were nice and crispy and the shrimp were perfectly fried. The crabcake was good too. Mahi -Mahi with a baked potato- it was cooked perfectly and had a simple seasoning that www perfect for the fish. The baked potato came with cheese bacon and sour cream as well as butter and was perfectly cooked! Dessert: Both had a key lime pie slice and it was yummy! You can tell it's homemade! Drink: Husband ordered an octane can't recall the nake but it was prepared well! Will be back when in the area!

Service was good, but the kids meals were extremely small. We were there to celebrate my Mamas birthday, and she got the crab cake. Crab Cake was so bad that when she told me to try some it basically ruined the rest of my meal. Other than that, the BBQ was amazing, and the potato salad could've possibly come out of a Walmart container... still good, but very yellow.

What a great view and hometown feel. I had fresh fish tacos and crisp calamari for lunch. It was delicious. Our waitress was kind and attentive. My aunt frequents and it's awesome, the staff all remember who she is. Great place.

Ate here recently for lunch. We both had fried seafood and it was good. The service was adequate, as there was one server for the entire restaurant! The restaurant itself is on the water with good views and a small bar area. Plenty of parking is available as well. Give it a try!

The Captain's is a casual, neighborhood seafood restaurant with a covered porch for sitting outside when the weather permits. I have been here twice and unimpressed both times. The first time I had their Unisex Crab soup and didn't like it. It was very, very thick and could almost have been eaten with a fork. I know some people really like it that consistency but I'm not one. I don't want watery soup but I do like soup to resemble soup and not a thick, gelatinous glob. If it had Sherry in it I couldn't taste it. On the other hand, the sweet onion hush puppies were delicious. They tasted like Momma used to make and I enjoyed them tremendously. My third selection was a crab salad and it was Yummo. On the second trip I opted for the Corvina dinner with coleslaw and a baked potato. I didn't like the Corvina. It was my first time trying it and I'm not sure if it was the fish or the preparation that I didn't like. I wouldn't order it again. The coleslaw was good and the baked potato was a baked potato. However, once again, the hush puppies are fabulous. The crab dip was also excellent. The service was not so great. It was an afternoon and the restaurant was almost empty but the server was very hard to find. Even though I loved the hush puppies that just isn't enough to make me want to return.

Don't let the "clam digger, dive bar" facade fool you ... this is a GOURMET restaurant full of flavor in every dish. Wow! I went two nights in a row just to confirm, and I will definitely be going back while I am in the area.

We wanted some she crab soup and shell fish on our visit to Suffolk, and our cousin recommended we go to Captain Chuck-a-Mucks. The place is essentially a rustic waterside bar with an outdoor deck where we ate. For dinner, we started with ... UNISEX CRAB SOUP (3/5) -- The soup was thick and chunky with a fair amount of crab meat, but not creamy. It was good, but it didn't live up to its reputation or our expectations. ($7.95 cup) CORVINA BITES (4/5) -- Bite size pieces of seasoned corvina were lightly fried. There was supposed to be a jerk sauce, but the sauce served was sweet and not jerk. ($12.95)... and then had ... PEI MUSSELS (2/5) -- This was a bowl of over two dozen steamed mussels, served with what was supposed to be a garlic broth -- we didn't detect garlic -- and French bread slices. The quality of the mussels was uneven. ($13.95) CRABCAKES (3/5) -- This plate had two crab cakes made with lump and claw crab meat. Maybe they were overcooked or had too much filler, but they didn't want to fall apart as advertised. The crabcakes came with SWEET POTATO FRIES (4/5) and ONION RINGS (4/5). ($26.95)GOLDEN FRIED SHRIMP (5/5) -- This was the best dish of the evening. These were extra large shrimp, seasoned beautifully, and lightly fried. Perfect ... as were the seasoned French fries (5/5). ($14.95)To the kitchen's credit, the seasonings varied by dish, which we found delightful. Too often, seafood restaurants season everything the same. The waterview from our table was nice, and our server Berkleigh was attentive and helpful.
