"I've passed this hole in the wall for a while now and have been trying to figure out how pizza/gyros/burgers/pho all fit together and now I know they kind of belong in the same spot. We stopped by in a Sunday before the lunch rush and were the first ones here. After looking at the eclectic variety we ordered Streak & brisket Pho, Garlic cheese bread, lamb gyro, deluxe fries and 6 boneless wings with hot sauce. You know, to get a feel for the variety of options. The Pho was ok, the broth not as flavorful as I had hoped for or found elsewhere on the peninsula but passable for sure. Noodles and meat were good but I can see how some people might be put off by the fatty portions if you don't know that's where some flavor might be.The Garlic bread with cheese was amazing and we took the leftovers home to reheat for later.Husband said the lamb gyro was tasty and the best part of the meal.A fair warning, the deluxe fries were essentially a delicious but dangerous plate of slathered fries, order at your own risk!Service wasn't fastest but very friendly"
"Sophia and I decided to stay in the Peninsula this Saturday due to weather. It has been years since we ate here so it was time to have some lunch and catch up.We were able to get a booth upon walking in. The crowd was semi-busy which is a good thing. TVs were showing NCAA tournament games and music filled the speakers. One thing we noticed is prices have gone slightly up. Inflation perhaps. Nonetheless, we were hungry and just went with the main course. I selected a large portion of Pho Tai Nam, which consists of round steak and beef brisket. This was pretty good and filled me up, which is the norm every time I order Pho dishes. And as usual, I added some chili oil for spices. Everything was pretty good and tasted well, leaving yours truly with a full stomach. The only true knock I have on the visit is lack of service. We were served with our meals fine, but after we got our bowls they didn't come back to check in on us or see if we needed any refills of water. There were two servers and they were quite busy so that may explain it. Other than the mishap, our visit was fine. We'll definitely be back for another go around. Till next time :)"

"It's kind of weird that I've never posted a review for Pho 78. For the longest time, this was the only pho spot I went to. When I worked in Chesapeake, there was a time when I ate at Pho 79, and then I used to always hit up Pho Dalat in Greenbrier. But Pho 78 was my introduction to pho, and I still stop in on occasion to this day. I dined at Pho 78 heavily when I used to work nearby off of Baxter Rd. Pho 78 was close and they were fast. In fact they are still fast - I stopped in a few weeks ago and was in and out within 45 minutes. Pho 78 still has the same FOH manager, who always dresses impeccably and has the personality to boot. Whenever I come in, I'm seated immediately and usually they're ready to take your order right then and there. I have a go-to meal ready (water or Coke; fresh spring rolls; & 32. Bun Tom Thit Nuong: vermicelli with grilled shrimp & pork), so sometimes I've already ordered before I've sat down. Other times, I like to try something else, so I'll take a minute to look over the menu. But both food and drink are usually out quickly, so dining here is perfect when you're in a rush. Their facility is clean and tidy, whereas seating can sometimes be cafeteria style (if you're not sat at any of the 4-tops against the wall). Also, there are two flatscreens on, one usually playing local news, the other playing some sort of recorded sporting event. The tv's help pass the time, but you're not gonna be here long. I think that food quality went down (which has been brought up by many people I've talked with) a little bit when COVID hit, but all restaurants felt that pinch. Pho 78 still puts out quality food, and I will never turn down an invitation to eat there. Thank you, Pho 78, you are awesome. JV"
"Overpriced for the quality of the food. I definitely won't eat here again since there are much better and reasonably priced Vietnamese nearby. I ordered a smallChicken pho ga with beef broth instead of chicken broth. The noodles were overcooked and gummy, and it was mostly noodles and very little broth. The broth tasted pretty good. Not the best I've had but decent. I also got shrimp and pork summer rolls. The pork tasted like it sat uncovered in the refrigerator and had no flavor/seasoning. I guess I'm spoiled because most Vietnamese restaurants I've tried marinate their pork so it has a nice flavor. The shrimp were cut super thin, and there were no discernible herbs in the rolls, so that made them really bland. The sauce was super sweet and needed sambas but all they had was sriracha. My husband ordered a seafood soup and said it was okay. For drinks we only had water. The atmosphere is like a quick service place but they charge a sit-down restaurant price. For the two of us we spent $55ish without the tip. Totally overpriced for the experience and food."
"One of my favorite places to get banh mi in the 757 area! It's comparable to my viet boyfriend's mom's. SO YUMMY. I always get the combo roll or the grilled pork and cha lua roll. Both are so delicious. Their bread is made in-house and are so fluffy and not dry. The meat to veggie to bread ratio is just perfect. Sauce amount is just right too. Every bite is like HEAVEN. Service is quick too. They have self ordering kiosks, so I don't really talk to anyone until I pick up my food at the counter. Casual environment, seems like it used to be a frozen yogurt shop or something? I mostly get their food for takeout though!foodstagram|@ivyshungry"
"This gem is tucked away in the corner of a small shopping center- you'll see the Starbucks in the opposite end before you see Pho Diner. My first impression walking in was how clean and how friendly the staff were to when greeting us. I tried the P2 soup combination - delicious and highly recommend. The other person in my party had a rice dish with the most tender chicken... very well seasoned. We had spring rolls as an appetizer which I would've preferred had there been four vice two in the plate. The sauce and peanuts were delicious on the rolls and left me wanting another. I didn't get a chance to try the sushi or milk tea offerings while there but look forward to returning soon to try those as well. My initial visit was great, the waiter was very attentive and kept waters full and plates taken when done. There is an outdoor seating area as well that is probably nice to sit in when the weather allows. Check this one out if you find yourself nearby."
"This is the one place in the 757 that I will stop at to get Pho. It's by far the best spot in town for that and my honest favorite. I stopped in pretty late and they still served me with a smile and it was incredibly fast. I have been away for quite some time so it was nice to have a nice meal at an affordable price."
"A fellow Elite Yelper, Xavier C. puts it the best, "this place is probably my most visited "ok" place. It's like being that ex that you can't quit, I swear." LOL When I read that, I was rolling...haha but yeah, that pretty much sums up this Pho 79 location for me!Out of the ten Pho 79's in the Hampton Roads area, I would say with confidence that this location is my favorite. By no means is Pho 79 my favorite Pho spot, but its nice for a quick bite to satisfy a crave and it's relatively inexpensive. One of the best things I like about this location, is that they actually make their Vietnamese Iced Coffee fresh when you order! Some of the other restaurants, like the Ghent, Hampton and Newport News locations, their coffee are all pre-made crap. As a coffee snob, that is a big deal for me! Lol Another good thing about this location is their wait staff. All of my visits here, I've experienced consistently good service. Wait staff are attentive and courteous. Some customers might find their approach too casual? Like they'll refer to me, sometimes as "bro" or "whatsup bro, how you doing" but I personally don't mind. That just adds to the casual vibe. My usual order consists of Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Shrimp Summer Rolls for apps and a small #6 with extra tendon on the side. I feel like that's the perfect portion size for me, just the right amount of noodles and that extra soft, chewy tendon is the perfect complement! I LOVE TENDON. It's very nutritious and packed full of protein. #GAINS The food here is decent. For the occasional crave, I just come here directly after work and spend about $30 on some decent pho and coffee. Customer service here has been consistently good for me. For the value and location, this Pho 79 is my favorite!"
"I was driving down Monarch Way and noticed this restaurant took over the space of my beloved Den. I decided to stop in and check out what replaced my favorite college spot. The menu was extensive, and it took me a minute to decide but I went with a beef bulgogi sandwich and got an iced tea from Gong Cha. The sandwich was sooo good. It was hot packed with fresh and crisp lettuce and tomatoes and a savory fried egg. I will definitely be having that again. I also tried a couple of buns which were soft with a hint sweetness. The staff was friendly and passionate about the food stating they had many favorites. Even though I'll miss the Den dearly, I approve of this replacement for the variety. The inside is also very pink and aesthetic as well if that's your kind of thing. Overall, think it's worth a try for sure."
"The best specialty banh mi I've ever had! Quality meats, they did not skimp at all. The pork belly was tender and the pate was phenomenal. The bread was slightly crispy in the outside and soft on the inside. I have zero complaints. This will be my go to spot from now!"
"Pho on point- small bowl loaded with the collagen broth I needed after a migraine attack this week. Weather-32degrees on Mon Sat 65 degrees. The owners are from Arlington, Va so they definitely knew the Vietnamese community & spots there. I am a fan."

I'm brand new to the area and needed a place that delivered. I found them on the GrubHub app. I've ordered from them four times already. The fried shrimp dinner is awesome. The coleslaw isn't great. I love the homemade lime soda. I always ask for extra limes. They don't have lemons. The chicken scampi is delicious. I've also had the chicken francese is great. Onion rings are good too. I will continue to order from them. Not a bad meal yet!

Who would have thought you could find a pho spot in the middle of nowhere in Newport News? Lots of parking as it is in a large shopping plaza. I was surprised with the pho, the broth was rich and flavorful, 8/10. Bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lemon were fresh. I'd give the spring rolls a 6/10, it's kind of sad how small they were without much filling. You can also ask for a side of sliced onions and put sriracha and hoisin sauce over them with a squeeze of lime and eat it as a side dish with your pho. There was a lot of staff working, so was able to get seated, order, and eat quickly. Pretty large seating area, good for small groups and large groups.

Kim'a Banh Mi & More is a Vietnamese eatery that specializes in authentic Vietnamese style Banh Mi sandwiches and a variety of other Asian and Vietnamese eats. It is located in the Chic's Beach Plaza, stationed between a Little Caesar's to its left and the La Herradura Mexican Restaurant to its right. It was formerly the home of Swirly's Fruit, which was an ice cream and frozen yogurt bar, as well as a boba tea shop. The transition appears to have been made during the fall of 2021. Kim's Banh Mi & More bakes their own Vietnamese style baguettes daily, which are also on display and can be purchased separately. The Banh Mi sandwich is a unique fusion dish that originated during the period of French colonialism in Vietnam during the late 19th century. The Vietnamese took the traditional French baguette and gave it a much thinner crust that was lighter and crispier than the French style baguette. The Vietnamese also added their own unique fillings. The dining area is bright and airy with four square top tables and one rectangular table. I counted a total of 20 chairs altogether for their dine-in customers.A wall menu states that each Banh Mi sandwich is served with a fresh house made baguette with fresh cucumbers, cilantro, spicy green peppers, pickled carrots & radish, and the proteins of your choice.A kiosk for is available for self-serve ordering and is very user friendly. You can customize your orders by telling it what you do and don't want on your Banh Mi sandwiches. You can also order at the counter if doing so is your preference.During four lunch time dine-in visits, I have tried the following:COLD CUT COMBINATION BANH MI SANDWICH: Red Pork Ham, Pork Roll Ham, Pate, Housemade Mayo Butter, and Sauce.I ordered it at the counter extra spicy and told them to leave out the Mayo, as this is one condiment that has never agreed with me. The counter person was nice enough to ask if they should leave out the Pate as well, since it also contains eggs. I told him that I am okay with eggs in Pate, but not the Mayo. The crust was light and flaky, but a bit too dry and crumbly for my tastes. The Pate spread did not deliver quite the depth of flavor I like, and the filling was not as spicy as I like. Otherwise, the meats and fillings were tasty and filling. My Rating: 3.5 Stars.GRILLED CHICKEN BANH MI: Marinated Grilled Chicken, Housemade Butter, and Sauce. I asked the counter person if the sauce contained Mayo and was told it did not. I also told him to add some Pate and prepare it extra spicy.I had better luck with this one. The crust was light and crispy and not as dry as before. The grilled marinated chicken and other fillings delivered a nice combination of flavors. This one was also a little spicier than before. The Pate spread still did not deliver quite the depth of flavor I like. My Rating: 4 Stars.LAVENDER MILK BOBA TEA: The taste of this boba drink was a bit lackluster. The boba pearls kept getting stuck inside the straw, and I had to get a spoon to eat the rest. My Rating: 3 Stars.PHO DAC BIET SPECIAL COMBO: Pho Beef Noodle Soup with Round Steak, Flank Steak, Brisket, Beef Meatballs, and Beef Tendons, garnished with Chopped Scallions, Onions, and Cilantro. They just started serving Pho earlier this year. My Pho was served to me in a plastic bowl and with a plastic spoon. Their condiments were served stuffed inside a cylinder shaped cardboard container. I've been eating Pho as a dine-in customer for about 25 years, and this is the first time I have ever had it served to me in this manner. I feel strongly that Pho is one dish that deserves to be served in a traditional ceramic bowl and with an Asian soup spoon.About half of the meat slices were fat and gristly to the point of being inedible. I had to dump them in the cardboard container. The actual taste of the broth was only passable. My Rating: 2 Stars. For some better news, I also tried the following:GRILLED CHICKEN WITH RICE: Grilled Chicken with Cabbage, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cilantro, and Peppers over Rice. Ordered with a Spicy Fish Sauce Blend. This is one of their new rice dishes. The grilled chicken was abundant and marinated beautifully. The flavors of the other ingredients came through nicely, and I loved the kick of their Spicy Fish Sauce. I had enough left over for two more meals. My Rating: 5 Stars.KIM'S KIMCHI: Lotus Root, Mustard Greens, Cabbage Carrot, Cucumber, Pineapple, Sugar, and Vinegar. This was ordered from their Grab & Go Case.I recently added Kimchi to my diet, and their version might be the best one I have tasted yet. The combination of flavors works wonderfully, and I especially love the Lotus Roots. I am already on my 2nd jar. My Rating: 5 Stars,Based upon my four visits to date, my composite food rating came out to 3.75 stars, which enabled me to round up to a soft 4-star rating. I may stop in again sometime when I am in the area and especially when I am craving their Kimchi.

Reasonable prices for delicious Vietnamese food. The pork Bahn Mi was juicy and well marinated with fresh tasting pickled veggies and soft bread. The ambiance is spacious, modern, but cool with many lanterns hanging from the ceiling (my photo does not do it justice). A hidden gem as it is larger than it looks from the outside. There is also bar seating, outdoor seating, and a sushi bar! Our food came out quickly, our server could have used a note pad.

Had been to two other Pho spots before coming here which is further from us. Stop now in your search for delicious clean broth Pho!!!Seat yourself kind of place while being greeted immediately! They have all the condiments on the table to spice up the delicious Pho broth. I have to say without adding anything the Pho is lights out and above all others. The broth is clear and carefully made so. Meat was tender, veggies fresh and yummy. The rice noodles are thin and light. Overall 10 out of 10!Delicious!

Simply Delicious! The food is so yummy! Strawberry boba is on point (first time having it frozen). The wontons are my absolute FAV!! They're perfectly crunchy on the outside, tender & tasty on the inside. Pho is cooked perfectly with flavorful broth Service is impeccable. Not a complaint* just a general observation, it was weird vibes with the 90s RnB music but made for an interesting dinner with throwback songs. Fried WontonsPho SoupStrawberry Boba

"I went to this place for a Christmas wreath making event. This is a nice little brewery type restaurant place that doubles as a place that does little side events. I had a blast and made. super cute wreath too.My daughter ordered some wings and said they were really delicious. It took everything out of me to not sneak one. I absolutely will come back to experience the brewery and sample something off the menu."
"Great service. I got the Bun bo hue SP2. I like spice and this was right about my limit of spice. Soup served piping hot and remained hot for the whole meal. Noodles were nice and thick. Nice change from traditional pho I usually go for. Atmosphere was nice. Servers were friendly."
"Great menu and Delicious food!! Come sit down and have some pho. Definitely will be back!!"
"Maybe some of the best pho I have had! Been here twice now and both times the food was just amazing! Quick service and delicious pho, what more could you ask for!"
"Before we all head back to our normal work/school schedule due to the snow storm, we wanted the BEST so we went here. Food is always on point no matter what we order, the food is always prepared FRESH with the BEST ingredients. It's ALWAYS good when we come here. Service is always on point as well. I went with the Souper Pho today, broth was perfect especially for all cold weather we had recently. All the meats were prepared perfectly. My son decided to try something different than his usual kids chicken pho and went with the chicken nuggets and fries! He ate the entire thing! He gave it 2 thumbs up! CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT TIME!"
"Yum! Saw all the great reviews and was going to be in the area and love seafood so stopped in and this place did not disappoint! Food: Jumbo Fried Shrimp platter had lightly fried shrimp which were delicious and a generous serving of fries. They were nice and crispy crinkle cut a favorite! Hush puppies were good and the Cole slaw wasn't my favorite but I am particular about my Cole slaw. The 6in sausage po-boy was also delicious and huge! The gentleman who took our order was kind and friendly. There are seats inside to wait for your order but they do not allow you to eat inside even though there are tables. Just an FYI! It's pretty bare bones inside but still good food! Will be back!"
"Tealux is such a cute spot to satisfy a boba or nice tea craving! I went with my little sister because we were in the mood for a nice cold drink & boba sounded delicious! When you walk in you do have an option to either order on the kiosk or from someone behind the counter! I watched them carefully make our drinks! My sister had the oat brown sugar boba drink. She rated it a 8.7/10! She said it had a nutty taste, which she enjoyed! The tapioca balls were nice too!I had the Luna with was a jasmine tea with lychee! It was delicious! I am definitely going to make this my go to drink when I'm in the area!! I rate this a 9.1/10!The service was good! The staff were quiet and focused, but also friendly! Check them out! :)"
"The banh mi was so good! The service fast and the place was clean- and that means something nowadays. We will be back."
"Pho was very good I had P4 round steak, flank, and brisket. Spring rolls were decent as well but not "amazing". Great sauce though! Additionally, not a ton of items on the menu besides pho. Service seemed quite rushed although the place wasn't busy for lunch. I wish our server asked for any appetizers first before entrees because it became confusing.Nothing really special about the place. Average tables, chairs, and decor."
"Pho is one of my favorite comfort foods and Pho 79 is always my "go-to" because of their exceptional service and amazing pho. I normally order the Pho Tai which is the noodle soup with rare round steak but I wanted to try something a little different so I ordered the Pho Tai Nam Gua which consists of the noodle soup with rare round steak, brisket and flank! I also ordered the Golden Fried Wontons as well. The wontons came out less than 10 mins after I ordered and were crispy and delicious as always! The server brought the pho out soon after and I always add the garnish of jalapeños, basil, bean sprouts and lime to my pho along with sriracha and a little hoisin sauce because it adds so much extra flavor. The steak, brisket and flank were super tender and the made the pho even more filling and appetizing. I literally ate the whole bowl lol. The service is always wonderful and the food is great. I even ordered a "to-go" order of Golden Fried Wontons because they are just that good. Definitely one of my favorite Pho restaurants in the area."
"So, for whatever reason I had a massive craving for Pho a week or so ago, and I was in the area. Searched this up and decided to stop in. I've been to other Pho 79 locations and been...well, underwhelmed. So I wasn't sure how it would go. But I have a recurring meeting over in this area, so I actually ended up stopping in three times over the past couple weeks. They have a nice upgraded bar area and the restroom was very clean. The booths are a little old and dingy, but the service is quick. I ordered the Pho Tai because that's always what I get to judge a place - and on the first visit, it was legit! The meat was perfect, the broth was fantastic. Second visit, overcooked. Third visit back to the first time, plus I tried out the spring rolls which were really delicious. On each occasion I tried to order crab rangoon, and was informed they were out on every single visit.Overall, I like this place and will probably keep coming back since it's convenient for where I'm at - but I wouldn't put it as my favorite Pho place on the peninsula."
"I'm not very familiar with the area - but had a doctor's appointment nearby and needed to grab a quick lunch. It was rainy and yuck outside, so I search up soup and this place popped up. The Pho 79 locations tend to be hit or miss, but I found one recently in Hampton that I like so I thought I'd give it a shot. This location was substantially less good - felt like a fast food joint with slightly fancier tables. It's fairly like a 2 1/2 stars.Service was really slow, and the flavor for the broth was pretty bland. I'm used to that deep, meaty feeling that seeps all through your bones. This felt strained and thin. I only got through about half of my portion and took the rest home - usually I destroy my leftovers, but when I reheated, it was even worse. I most likely won't visit this location again. The area seemed cool with lots of other shops/spots, so maybe if I'm here again in the future I'll try something else nearby."
"I don't know when this restraunt opened but atleast 30 years. We have had countless wonderful meals here. My dad liked this place so we would go all the time. When my dad passed away about 15 years ago we just stopped going. During the Pandemic we thought they may need the business so we tried them twice. The were not open due to scheduling problems. THey are a small business . Use to be owned by a mom and pop. The vietnamese mom cooked all the food and the family worked the rest. We have finally been back to where they were open. It seemed the same but a little different. I did not feel comfortable asked if the mom and pop where still around. Maybe after a while of being back I will ask. Anyways. The sesame pancakes are my favorite. Start with that. Then what we did in the very beginning just to learn Vietnamese food was we just worked our way through the menu. It is big portions and we end up sharing. And taking a bunch home. But the one thing we finish off are the sesame pancake. YUMMMM I'm telling you they are my favorite.Service is always good and if you need help with deciding what to get they are super helpful."
"The stars are only for the food!!! And the food is always delicious!!! I'm such a foodie, lord, help me... but unfortunately the service is mediocre."
"Tonight we had dinner at Pho 79, located on Sam's Drive near the Sam's Club in the heart of Chesapeake. It is just starting to turn chilly outside and it's a great time to enjoy some good Pho.We got the 3 beef selections (forgot the name but it has 3 kinds of beef in it. The broth is delicious and the noodles are fixings made this a bowl of wonderful."
"It's been 10 years since I first fell in love with Pho 79. I'm happy to say I still frequent the restaurant and enjoy it as much as I did the first time. They are fast and friendly. Easy and simple dining experience. The Pho Thai is my favorite. Brought my father here on 2 recent visits and he loves it!"
"The inside of this restaurant is super cute. The lights are aesthetic, and the wood on the ceiling makes it feel like a roof. The shrimp spring rolls and peanut sauce were delicious. Always gotta have the spring rolls. They felt fresh when biting into them. The pho comes in a King, Queen, or Kids size which is nice. I got Queen because I knew I couldn't finish a King. Take your crown, Queen! My husband got some bbq with vermicelli noodles. Super yummy, the bbq was seasoned well. It was also a good texture, neither under or over cooked. Service was also wonderful. Everyone was kind, and our server checked on us often. Side note, the playlist they had on the speakers was fire. Thanks for the good meal!"
