"Sawadee is a great experience all around. The food tasted great & the is always cooked fresh to perfection. This one is a hole in the wall restaurant cooked authentically and the whole staff is Thai. They always have great deals and again the food is amazing. I randomly found this out by fellow Yelp Elite members so i said lemme try this out and Ive been coming back eversince. Ive brough family and friends here and they agree its better than the local chain Thai restaurants we have in the area. On top of the excellent food, the service was super attentive. He was very friendly, asked if we had any questions and checked on us several times. As for the ambiance, because its a hole in the wall dont expect something bougie. Its very reminiscent of South East Asia though. But when you look past that the Food Experience is worth much more. Yelp Elite Tip: If you like Pad Thai, check out their Pad See Eww, Its more moist and flavorful version of Pad Thai."
"As a regular at Yaya Asian Gourmet, I can confidently say it's one of the best Chinese restaurants around! They have yet to disappoint, and every visit is a reminder of why I keep coming back. My go-to dishes are the Singapore Chow Mei Fun and House Special Fried Rice, which are always seasoned to perfection. Plus, they're generous with the shrimp, which is a big plus!Their General Tso's Chicken is another favorite--it's always served hot and consistently delicious, a level of quality you don't find at every spot. Yaya Asian Gourmet gets 5 stars from me every time."

"We had a wonderful dinner. The eggplant appetizer was my favorite. My sister ordered beef pad Thai and I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp. Everything was so delicious and the service was wonderful. It's a very cozy restaurant."
"Wow! What a great find... amazing food, great service, awesome people. Highly recommend! Been coming to OBX for 7 years and regret not trying this place sooner!! Jao was wonderful... we will be back!!"
"Hands down one of the best restaurants on the peninsula, and most certainly the best Thai and sushi place in the Hampton Roads area. I have had several dishes here, and each one is super fresh and extremely tasty. In particular, the Pad Thai is simply breathtaking. I order it probably two-times per month. Also, I love the spicy tuna roll with crunch. The place is small, and quiet, so it's great for a date or meeting with friends. The staff is always very friendly, and they answer any questions you may have. Plus, I've never had my water glass get below half, which is a plus for their service. Seriously, go try this place out... I recommend the following dishes: - Pad Thai (Spicy Level 1-2) - Massuman Curry - Green Curry- Cashew Chicken - Drunken Noodles w. Chicken - Crab Rangoons - Spring Rolls- Spicy Tuna Roll w. Crunch - California Roll"
"One word.... Amazing!!! This restaurant is amazing! You walk in and everything is just so beautiful! Was not expect to walk into a restaurant this pretty! Service was also top notch! So kind and friendly. The food was amazing! I wish I could have tried more of the sushi rolls but the one I didn't have was so fresh and tasty! Definitely worth a try!"
"3.5/5 overall. Food came out quicker than last visit. Spice level 3 was just the heat I enjoy, although Prikh King from last time outshined my Pad Thai choice this trip. My friend's Green curry looked and smelled delicious. Waitress forgot the iced tea ordered but apologized and brought it in a to go cup."
"We came here in March 2024 and honestly it was a 3 star experience. But last night we got a takeout order and it was definitely 5 star food, so idk if it was off day last time or if they have a new chef.Restaurant/ambiance (4/5): Tbh, this location looks like an abandoned strip mall behind Hampton Inn when you first turn off the main road...but there ARE businesses here! And Tida Thai is one of them. It's a cute thai restaurant with wonderful ambiance and plenty of seating. When you first walk in a pretty sounding wind chime announces your arrival. They also have a bar in the back if you don't want to sit at a table. Tip: the bar is where you place walk-in takeout orders. Make sure to grab a paper menu to take home!LOTS of parking spots available!Service (5/5): Both times we were here the service was on-point. Friendly and prompt staff.Food (5/5): I'm basing the 5 stars solely on this past order. Everything was flavorful, spiced appropriately. Moreover, everything was piping hot even by the time we got home! We will definitely be back.In our order: thai tea, crispy spring rolls, masaman curry with chicken, jasmine rice, sticky rice (regular), shrimp pad thai."
"Beautiful traditional Thai restaurant. Prices were good and food was decent. We ordered fresh spring rolls with shrimp, pad see ew with beef and red curry with tofu. The spring rolls were delicious and the dipping sauce was excellent. Lunch came with a small side salad and a fried spring roll. That was basic but also pretty good. The pad see ew noodles were overcooked and a little gelatinous but still tasted good. The red curry was a little overly salty but still flavor was nice and the tofu was perfectly lightly fried. There is a lot of good Thai food in the area. I would come back but this wouldn't be my first choice."
"This was a great find. Came here because it was an hour long wait at this other spot. So glad I did! The food was great! Staff was really nice and attentive. It's a small intimate place. Decor is ok...I think in time they can improve the look. Seems they get a lot of carry out orders, maybe DoorDash or something because people kept coming in to pick up orders. I will say that I was surprised by how good the food was. This place is a hidden gem. I will definitely come back to try other entrees. That pad Thai was amazing. My son said whoever made it needs a raise."
"Saw the special they posted on their Facebook page on 09/01/2023 "Wide noodles with our decedent house sauce, bean sprouts, eggs, leeks and don't forget those baby shrimp"I knew at that moment what I was having for lunch that day and boy this did not disappoint at all.Everything went so well together and I could not get enough of this dish. The baby shrimp was like icing on the cake, the tang from the sauce. I also added tofu for some protein. I definitely want this dish again. I also ordered the chicken satay, chicken was moist and that peanut sauce was so good."
"This is definitely more of a 4.5 rating but the pad thai was a little lackluster. Other than that, this was a great Thai restaurant. Came here because we were going to be in the area and wanted thai food. Service: A+ All the staff were kind and efficient. We got there right before they got busy on Saturday evening, and only waited about 5 minutes before our dish came out. Drinks were refilled quickly and we had our main meals within 20 minutes of sitting down. Food: Food was all around delicious. We had the following: Crispy Spring Rolls-nice and crispy with a sweet and sour sauce. A very good sauce. The Fresh paper rolls with chicken-very good and LOVED the fresh basil in them. The dipping sauce was like a sweet honey but with a kick and yummy crushed peanuts on top. Unique and crave-able. Beef with Basil and onions and peppers-so good and flavorful! The beef was perfectly cooked and the sauce was yummy. Pad Thai-The flavor as mentioned above didn't wow me but it wasn't bad. Have had more flavorful pad Thai's at other places. Very beautiful restaurant inside as well."

One of our favorite Thai restaurants whenever I am in Norfolk, the starter congee was still so good. We ordered pineapple pad thai got it wrong a little since the pineapple made it really strong sour taste. Penang curry still the best and the fried tofu so good must try. Only did not like the sticky rice and mango. The mango is not good more of a mexican mango and the coconut sauce was so watery not thick. Service was good and the place improved w food display to help others to visualize. I go for 4.5 if there is. Must try place.

This spot has the best Chinese food in Norfolk, no question! Everything's super flavorful and always tastes fresh. The portions are nice, prices are great, and the staff is super friendly. They nail it every time. My go-to whenever I'm craving good Chinese!

Had an incredible experience at Single Fin! The sushi was top-notch, but what truly made our visit unforgettable was Lynette's outstanding service. She went above and beyond with her recommendations, ensuring we got the best of the menu. Her attention to detail and friendly personality made the experience even better. If you're looking for amazing sushi with exceptional service, this is the place to be. Can't wait to come back next time we visit OBX!

This is by far the best Thai and/or Japanese restaurant in Newport News. I've been here many times over the years and have never had a complaint about the food quality, the service team, or the restaurants ambiance. The food is flavorful and delicious and a good portion for the price 10/10 recommend!

Exceptionally good chef's sashimi for one. The taste and aroma and texture of the spicy tuna roll was the best I have had. The toasted sesame was prominent and also the chewiness of the rice and seaweed all were distinct. The salmon sashimi was also very buttery and flavorful. Also great presentation. I have lived several years in San Francisco and San Diego and this quality is top tier for sure. My new favorite place when I come visit home.

My friends from out of town were craving Thai, so we wanted to take them to a nice place! We were a big group of 8, and Tida Thai did a great job accommodating us! The server was super nice and receptive. We had our meal family style, and it was easy to get extra plates to do that. Service was really awesome honestly! The place has a nice ambiance and is tucked away in the corner of this shopping strip. The yellow hues are beautiful. We were a bit loud, but normally it is fairly quiet. Sorry!! A great place for a date. :)The food was great! It came out pretty fast which was surprising because we ordered a bunch. I first got the blue Thai tea, and I love the sweet pea taste. A great twist of the OG Thai tea. The Satay and the sampler were delicious. We were already starting to get full from the apps. I'm a big appetizer fan myself, and these apps were super satisfying. I love the sauces that come with everything, that's what really makes it!! All the food was super flavorful and packed a punch. You can tell they used a lot of herbs and spices to make it so good. We got beef krapow, pad Thai, pad see ew, drunken noodle, crabmeat fried rice, and the eggplant stir fry.The only reason why I give them a 4 is because the pad see ew and drunken noodles were a bit too soft. I wish they were firmer.I would love to go again and try the food at a spicier level. My friends don't prefer spicy, so we tried to keep it mild for them.

Great Thai. Wonton warmup big wontons made in house are awesome. I had one of the stir fry and it was solid flavor and heat. Went with 6 and everyone enjoyed their meal. Great service as well.

"I ordered food from Jen Thai to be delivered. The pics and reviews looked good so i was excited. I ordered the grilled pork, shrimp pad thai, and spring rolls which cost about $40... They also charged $2 for onions... The food made me second guess my choice. The 1st red flag should have been the smell. It was boom pow in your face stinky... My daughter insisted thats how its supposed to smell... She must have been to sheltered because i disagree.. The pad thai was really bland with just a few shrimp for all those noodles. The bean sprouts, egg, and green onions that were supposed to be in it seemed nonexistent... The extra onions were barely there also. For $2 i could almost buy a bag of onions. The 6 onion slices i received left alot to be desired... Lol. I'm laughing to keep from crying... Smh. It was just dry.. Like the Sahara desert...I was more happy with the pad thai than the pork dish... I've never had pork be so chewy in my life. My throat sincerely fought me to not swallow it. I believe in second chances so i tried another piece and it turned my stomach. It was flavorless chewy meat!! On another note the sweet n sour sauce was tasty. The spring rolls were crispy and hot, but the vegetables inside made me frown. I don't like giving low reviews, but i wasn't happy at all... So i'm just being honest. $40 later and still hungry wasn't my expectation. . I don't think I'll return... The way my stomach hurts i couldn't help but tell the truth.. Read the reviews. I went by the stars and made a big mistake.. Reading is fundamental!! Theres definitely better Thai food out there."
"-Pad See Eaw. Thai rice noodles, egg and shrimp & broccoli in Thai soy sauce. Very tasty- I choose Med spice, wow , hot @ tasty. Mango & sticky rice w coconut sauce is AMAZING!"
"It's been a few years since my last update so it's time for another one. I'm happy to say they still get five stars. I love the food and the friendly staff and I love the fact that this restaurant is locally owned and operated, it remains my go to spot for Thai food. The food is always fresh and delicious, the restaurant is always clean, the restrooms are clean and properly stocked. Proper COVID-19 protocols are in place.Jasmine Thai Cuisine is located in the Battlefield Shoppes shopping center on the west side of North Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake. The private parking lot shared with the rest of the businesses in the shopping center is not large but is of adequate capacity, I've always been able to find a spot to park. The lot is in good repair and generally clear of debris, the walk up to the restaurant entrance is always clear.Originally, the restaurant was very small but at one point the adjoining space became available so Jasmine Thai expanded into that space as well. This more than doubled their seating capacity which was much needed. Unfortunately the kitchen size remained the same. The narrow galley kitchen is open so if you're seated at the counter or a table in the front dining room you can watch your order being prepared from scratch. The cook area is small so if they are busy orders can take some time to get to the table but the wait is generally not unreasonable. Lunch time seems to be the busiest with lots of takeout orders placed over the phone and a good number of diners inside as well. It doesn't matter whether you fo for lunch or dinner, you will get the same great tasting food prepared from scratch with fresh ingredients. Over the years, I've worked my way through most of their menu and I really have never had anything I didn't like. As far as appetizers go, I really enjoy the Chicken Satay with that wonderful peanut dipping sauce. I also like the fried chicken spring rolls. The Som Tum (shredded green papaya salad) is another hit, very flavorful and delicious. I also really like the Laab in all its forms (beef, chicken or pork). Soups, there are some great ones here. My favorites are the Tom Ka Gai (chicken) or Tom Ka Goong (shrimp) which are really wonderful coconut milk based soups, so flavorful. The Gyow Nam (wonton soup) is pretty amazing too and the Thai Noodle Soup (basically the Thai version of Vietnamese pho) is pretty spectacular as well, the broth is just so flavorful. There are just so many entrees I really enjoy here, I will name a few. There are some really nice stir-fry dishes like Pad Kapau, Kai Saparot (I like it with chicken), Cashew Stir-Fry with Snow Peas and their house Jasmine Stir-Fry. I love all the noodle dishes here. Pad Thai, Pad Si Ew, Pad Ki Mao and my favorite Lad Na. I love all the curry dishes as well. The Kang Ped, Kang Kheow Wan and Panang are nice but I really love the Masman which is yellow curry sauteed with potatoes, pineapple, onions, peanuts and coconut milk. All the fried rice dishes are nice too, how can you go wrong with fried rice? Vegetarians can find much to like here with a nice selection of soups and entrees. There isn't much of a dessert selection but the Sticky Rice with Mango is really delicious and my favorite way to end a meal here. Hampton Roads is blessed with many good Thai restaurants. Jasmine Thai Cuisine is my favorite based on the fresh and tasty dishes, the friendly staff and the location which is very convenient for me. Julie (the owner) is originally from Thailand and she prepares authentic Thai dishes. If you want the real thing, visit Jasmine Thai Cuisine."
"I am visiting from out of state and unfortunately there are no local Thai restaurants close to me that are as tasty as this one. This was my second restaurant stop once I got in town. loved the Pad Thai and Basil fried rice. I may have to go back to get some for the trip home. Met with a smile and great service. Recommend"
"Wow, wow, wow, what a hidden gem. Sure, the appetizers are just fine, but what really shines are the curries. And yes, because they make everything from scratch and it's not premade, there is a huge vegan selection. Any of the curries can be made without fish sauce. My son got yellow curry (potatoes! a great kid curry) with soft tofu. Thank goodness they don't pre-fry the tofu in huge batches- that tastes stale and gross when they do that in restaurants: here it's all chopped up fresh. I got the green curry with tofu, and it was absolutely delicious. Anne our server was so friendly and helpful and she made sure to bring us over all the extra sauces and peppers to go with our meal - the food didn't eat extra seasoning, but it was fun to have and put on the rice. Love that they have three rice options, brown rice, sticky rice, and jasmine rice . Sticky rice is really fun to dip into the leftover curry sauce. Easy recommend...great vegetarian and vegan selections. My picky child ate everything on his plate...win....but come on potatoes and tofu. What's not to love?"
"Came in for the lunch special menu with my better half and got the chicken pad Thai and he got the shrimp pad Thai. The total came to just over $25 which was very pocket friendly, considering this is Williamsburg and usually it's at least $25pp, not for two meals. For starters we each had a small side salad. The homemade peanut and ginger sauce was delicious. The portion size of the lunch main course was very generous, I ended up taking some of it home! Service was okay. I felt a little rushed during our meal, I understand we came towards the end of the lunch so they may have wanted to clear the restaurant out to get ready for dinner - but mind you, we were left waiting up front for quite a while to be seated upon entry, and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant. Regardless, the server was polite and the food truly was delicious. I would definitely come back!"
"A wonderful place for Thai, just outside the gate. A perfect location for a quick lunch. I enjoyed the fried rice and sampled some pad Thai. Everything was freshly made, and piping hot. Their Thai tea is delicious as well. Service was great. They were so kind and polite."
"I ordered through DoorDash from this restaurant for lunch. I got the Red Curry with chicken, and their Thai Best Treasure Bag. Everything was really good. I'll definitely order from here again and check out the restaurant in person. Can't give a full review until I eat inside the restaurant, but what I have experienced so far was great!"
"This Thai food is excellent. Has a really nice setting. You feel like you're dining out somewhere special. Food is high-quality as well. Have a great lunch too."
"6 stars if I could! I had used uber eats before but never got the chance to go here in person and oh my gosh my best friend and I are in trouble bc this place was probably the best culinary experience we have had in Williamsburg. We went for lunch and it was so fun to sit at the sushi bar and watch their artistry! Best service and book culinary experience by far! I'll become a regular quickly!"
"I came here to grab a quick lunch and I'm really glad I did! Im not a fan of spicy food (AT ALL) so it made my selection much easier to make, because almost everything is spicy. I started with a Thai Tea, and it's a large cup of the tasty drink! For lunch, I had Chicken Pad Thai. I don't eat Thai food often, and to be honest, this is my first time eating Pad Thai. It was AMAZING! It wasn't spicy at all, but very flavorful. The peanuts were on the side, and I ate just a few to complement the noodle dish. 4 STARS! The food and Thai tea were amazing and the service was good. I did take off a star because the restaurant was really chilly! It was a quick but cold wait for our food to come out."
"Tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. It was genuinely good! The service and prices were as I expected them to be. The decor/ambiance was typical. The menu had a good selection of dishes. Portion size was very good. The flavors were fresh and delicious. I ate here with a friend and we ordered enough to eat and take home for another meal or two. The pinapple fried rice was very good. I also had the pad woon sen with tofu and it was excellent. The eggrolls are good too. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely go back. It's a little off the beaten track but worth the search for it."
"This is our new favorite Thai restaurant on the Peninsula! We usually get takeout but have dined in once. Service is always prompt and friendly. Highlights on the menu are the flavorful Tom yum soup, the pad Thai, and the green curry, which is excellent. I recently tried the khaki soi which is a rich yellow curry soup with egg noodles. It was delicious, and I look forward to ordering it again! Most of the Thai items we've tried are worth reordering. The exception was the Aroi platter--while the green papaya salad was good, the beef was very tough and gristly, so would not order that item again. Similarly, the "Asian" items are underwhelming. The shrimp shumai tasted like a reheated frozen item, and the wonton soup was average. We'll definitely be back, and there remain a number of Thai dishes on the large menu which I look forward to trying."
"This was probably the best surprise for the Norfolk/VB/Portsmouth area! I moved here back in July 22' from San Diego. As you can imagine, the restaurant scene here isn't quite as bustling. This place got my vote from bite one!I ordered delivery so can't speak to the restaurant itself, but from what I see online it looks like a very small place and probably more conducive on to go orders. That shouldn't deter you. The best Thai joint in San Diego in the heart of Uni Heights had only two tables and a long down the street with a cult following!I ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai & Krapow Kai Dow. I'll open with this, I do think the family might be from Laos or pull some of their flavor profiles in that direction. What does this mean: what you might think of for pad Thai might be different here. Trust me, it's for the better! Their pad Thai leaned more savory than tangy like a lot of joints tend to make their pad Thai. I actually grew up having a similar pad Thai in Florida so it was quite nostalgic for me.Spring rolls were super tasty, fresh fried, not greasy and clearly home made. If you've ever had real fresh & homemade fried spring rolls THIS IS IT! The Krapow was super delicious, strong flavors of the fresh basil. Ground pork was perfectly done (e.g. very finely ground with no inconsistency). The only thing I was sad about wasn't their fault, it's actually mine. The fried egg unfortunately cooked all the way through. Not their fault: delivery in sealed package + drive time = fully cooked egg. This one might be an eat in house item if it tickles your fancy.I definitely look forward to trying out more of their menu in the future, maybe pay a trip in person. If you're on the fence and are sick of the 1 of 12 restaurants all with the same name owned by different people (you know the ones)... give this quaint eatery a try!"
"Ordered takeout and it did not disappoint. Huge fan of Thai food and the spicier the better. There is an option of spice level from low to Thai spice. The weekend does not offer lunch specials, but don't worry the dinner portions are very much worth it for leftovers. The entrees can be stretched out for a few more meals. I ordered the Tom yum soup, panang curry, and drunken noodles. I voluntarily chose the Thai hot spice level, and well my stomach was dancing happily during consumption, then cried the next day. That is the choice I made lol. The Tom yum had cut up pieces of tomato, mushrooms, green onion, and choice of protein. The broth was tangy, spicy, with hints of sweet and sour and Thai hot spice level. The chicken was thinly sliced and a great addition. No regrets there. I would order it again as this was a bowl size. The panang curry was coconut milk based filled with string beans, red julienne peppers, Thai basil, lime leaves, and protein choice of chicken. This came with a small side of rice. The string beans were fresh, and had a good snap with the first bite. Lastly was the drunken noodles. This came with flat noodles, green beans, carrots, broccoli, onions, basil, green and red sliced julienne peppers with chicken. I did wish the noodles were a bit Al dente as the texture felt slightly mushy. Everything married well together. The owner was very sweet and kind as she took my order. The inside is small and clean. There is about three tables. Will definitely come back!!!! support small businesses"
"Came during a Sunday afternoon, the food came out very quick. The portion was more than enough to fill me up. The food tasted good and we left happy. The only thing I noted was that the curry was more liquid/soupy than I expected (see picture). Wasn't necessarily a bad thing but would've been easier to sop up with rice if it were more of a gravy consistency. Lunch prices were very good value."
"Was in the mood for seafood but passed their sign and decided to try it. I went with the green curry with fried chicken. I don't normally order curry dishes but Amaz Asian Cafe Bistro has changed my mind. I should also add that Pan was helpful and very gracious. Thank you for a nice casual dining experience."
"Always get the Mongolian beef and sweet and sour chicken. Always comes fresh and hot. Food is good and never fails me for a late night meal after a long day. Price is about right when it comes to the numerous options you have. But I still enjoy this establishment more than others."
