We had started to plan our wedding April of 2021 so we had a lot of time to plan and pay for everything before the wedding. Taste was our first choice on the vendor list and we were so thankful for them because right from the get go they were able to help break down the pricing, helping us pick out our food for our guest, the taste testing was absolutely amazing as well! Our wedding was completely taken care of as they took care of changing over the venue from the ceremony to the reception and catered to all of our guest very professionally. I know all of our guest were highly impressed by them as made the change over look effortless and really took care of us all night long as the wedding couple making plates and getting drinks for us. Not to mention making plates for later and packing all of our leftovers and we really didn't have to do anything. They took care of our bars and had very professional bar tenders make all of our drinks for all of our guest. I will say you have to book Taste (and work with Amanda she's the best) for your wedding. We had 103 guest attend and everyone complimented us about the quality of the food served, drinks and service they received as our guest."

Yoonie L. "I am going to San Francisco and I needed to get some local gifts for friends that I am visiting there. VA Goods came to mind immediately as what says local more than "VA Goods". VA Goods is located in Selden Market, the incubator space mall in Downtown Norfolk, and it offers exactly that, goods made in VA. You can find anything to food products, jewelry and even glass blown items that is made my the owner herself, who is a glass blowing artist, among many things. - Parking - There is street parking available, as well as, the parking garages nearby. The one I like to park at when going to Selden Market is the Hilton Main parking garage as it is attached to Selden Market. If you get off on level P1, it will lead you directly inside Selden Market. What I found:I was specifically looking for VA-themed stickers and thankfully I found one that is in the shape of the state, with mountains on it with VA printed on it.I also found some VA is for lovers rubber keychains and VA peanuts! I got some chocolate covered and some Old Bay flavored. Mmm, maybe my friend will let me taste them once I give it to her LOL.You know how it is, just before going on a trip....so many things to do, so little time. I was so grateful this was a quick and fruitful trip! I got most of everything I needed and I was out within 15 minutes! Pro tip:At the time of this writing, they are offering a check-in offer on Yelp of 20% off your first purchase! This is subject to change at any time, so don't hold me to it if it's not available anymore when you go. You snooze, you pay full price. If you are looking for unique items from VA, VA Goods is the place to go! Enjoy, Friends, and never stop exploring!"

There's pandesal, lumpia wrapper, sauces, veggies, etc! They have a stamp card as well, which is really nice and a great idea to keep customers coming back.Very clean and tidy too!"

She was fun and funny and full of energy, knowledge and history. She's comes from a long line of locals who have many good stories. Everything we tasted was delicious and there was plenty of it. no one on our tour was able to eat everything. Fortunately she let us brown bag whenever we needed to. We learned all sorts of fun facts about Williamsburg and the people who settled here. Our group was 11 guests and we met all kinds of new fun foodie friends. We were even lucky enough to meet famous celebrity chef from, "A Chef's Kitchen", John Gonzalez. I can't Wait to go back to some of these restaurants and shops. It was an excellent value for the money. I read some other reviews complaining about the amount of food for the price. Yes if you spend $60 in a restaurant of course you're going to get a full meal. But this is a "tasting" precisely. The value is in the time the guide spent educating us on the area and helping us find the best spots to go back to for meals in the future."

When I came back recently, I was reminded about this store when we came across an ad on a local map. I made it a point to stop by again and it was an excellent decision! The proprietors here are super friendly and incredibly kind. They were very happy to help us with any questions we had about their (huge) selection of different peanuts and the nuances of all the unique flavors. I walked out with like 10 cans of nuts, and so far the ones I've tried all were great though I am extremely big on the smoked bacon flavored peanuts. I think I literally ate the whole can in two sittings, and there's a lot of nuts in each container. The other ones I enjoyed so far are the lime nuts, creole nuts, and the crab nuts. I have the jalapeño nuts that I am eager to try soon, along with their sweet options like the pralines and chocolate covered nuts. All of their peanuts were extremely fresh and crunchy. Overall it's what I remembered it to be back in the day, flavors or not the nuts are all high quality and a huge cut above what you can buy in your usual retail stores.Virginia peanuts are the best and this is about the best place you can buy them. Terry T. "Lechon or roasted suckling pig is a very popular dish in the Philippines. In Hampton roads we are fortunate to be able to experience this amazing meal at House of Lechon on Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. Traditionally, lechon is slowly roasted and served whole and this is the way House of Lechon does it but every Sunday they sell it by the pound with a minimum order of two pounds. Whole pigs or by the pound orders require advance orders. They are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM but you can place your order any day (for pick up on the weekend) by calling them on the phone or sending a message on Facebook Messenger. I've ordered both ways with success. This is strictly a take out restaurant as there is no dining room. On Sundays when they sell lechon by the pound they make a little extra for walk-in customers but I highly recommend placing your order at least a day in advance. I have enjoyed partaking of the whole pig a couple of times at events and have ordered a few pounds a couple times. It is truly a wonderful dining experience. The skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy, tender and delicious. It is served with a very nice dipping sauce. You can order the whole pig, the head, shoulder/butt or belly. Check out one of my photos for the price list. As I said before, you can order lechon by the pound for Sunday pick up. Staff is friendly and pleasant when ordering and when you pick up the order. Yoonie L. "This store is great! Mi Rancho Tienda Latina (MRTL) is next door to La Taqueria Hacienda. I stumbled upon it when I ordered take out at La Taqueria Hacienda (s/o to Theresa M for putting it on my radar). There is a direct indoor passage from La Taqueria Hacienda to MRTL, my youngest and I went to take a peek while we waited for our takeout order. It's a small store but lots of great stuff packed into it. At the front, there are some freezers and fridges with frozen treats (paletas, mangonadas etc) and other prepared goods from local businesses like flan and tres leches from Jessy's. The first front aisle is dedicated to a showcase of Mexican baked goods also brought in from local bakeries. The next few aisles are filled with grocery store items. I love seeing the products that familiar brands release in other markets. Will have to go back for the Palmolive fruity bar soap. It smelled so good ! All the way back, is the butcher with all sorts of meats, both plain and marinated. After we did a once over to see what the store offers, I couldn't help myself with the baked goods. I see/hear about baked goods and it's a trigger word (a good trigger). My eyes start to glaze over and I start making my way over LOL. I stopped a staff member and I asked her about all the goods. I wish she could truly understand the level of my enthusiasm and curiosity and I think she did the best she could to describe all the items, but I made do with what she shared and I just went with what looked good. She said that the case under the La Sabrosita had been delivered that day, so she didn't need to tell me twice. We got 4 things (these are not the proper names as I have no idea, just descriptions):- sugar donut with custard - classic sugar yeasty donut with custard, except, they don't poke a hole and fill it, they slice it in half and slather the custard. I loved this one. - puff pastry with cream inside and then a thin layer of icing type coating on top, and then rolled back in the puff pastry crumbs? These type of pastries tend to be on the dry side. It was pretty straight forward and it was pretty big.- cake/bread with sesame seeds - this reminds me of a homemade pound cake (not store bought) or madeleine type texture, not cake and not bread, in the middle. The size is pretty large (picture those jumbo muffins at Costco that you have to buy two packs) and it's topped with sesame seeds. Great morning item. I loved this one too.- Cinnamon cake - there was a thin layer of a cinnamon mixture at the bottom, majority of the cake/bread and then the top had a crack-ly crust, piped with what looked like a cinnamon stick, but it's actually another edible cake thing. On the drier side, but more meant to be another morning item with coffee or tea. My youngest loved this one with her milk. The items were not small either. The best part of all this, was when I went to pay, I was floored at the final total. I thought she had made a mistake. It was SOOOOO cheap! It was $8 and some change. The girl chuckled at my disbelief and she said the price had gone up. Well, don't mind if I do. I'll definitely be back and check out their meats back there too. Enjoy friends and Happy Latinx Heritage Month!"
