Their oysters are famous throughout the country but this is the source!Buy a box of 100 oysters for $50. 100 clams for $20. I think a pint of shucked oysters is $15. They also have a small retail shop farther south near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel."

There really is no designated parking lot and if you blink, you'll drive right by it. Looks kinda run down, cause it is...but the fish is truly "fresh off the boat.""

Lily H. "Was looking for a fast local spot to hit our craving for seafood. We called in our order and was told 10 mins. This place is located in a very run down possibly questionable strip mall as many of the storefronts were empty, glad I just went with calling them first then determining actual location. Walked in, no noticeable smell of the fryer or seafood inside - which is a huge plus. Lady at the counter was also making orders - was super friendly. We got home and our boxes were OVERFLOWING with fried goodness. We got 10 jumbo shrimp combo, 2 whiting/crab cake/shrimp/scallops/oyster combos, side of fried okra, and side of clam strips. We went all out thinking portions will be skimpy- we were soo wrong - we had plenty for a second dinner. Breading was light and mildly seasoned which compliments the seafood it incased. Whiting and shrimp were our favorite - word of caution- there were minimal micro bones, which didn't bother us, but did give me pause before letting my kids have some. The crab cake was a bit mushy in the middle and overly fried- but it has promise, it was full of crab meat and seasoned well to keep the crab profile. The hush puppies were on the sweet side and in general not my favorite thing ever - anywhere. The fries were the generic and not seasoned - if I had a choice to pass on these I would. I would however get their fried okra, these taste so fresh and not your standard fried okra you find out there prebreaded and fried."

Carol C. "What a great place if you're near Nags Head or Wanchese, NC. If you're looking to buy the highest quality fresh seafood to take back to your condo or to take home to wherever you live, this is the place to be. And if you're looking for someone to process your fresh catch when you come off a charter boat they are perfectly prepared for you. They will process, portion and ship.We were there last week and bought shrimp plus pre-frozen bacon wrapped scallops and some amazing, fresh off the boat tuna steaks. The freshness was off the charts. The shrimp large and already de-headed. We've had the scallops now that we're back home and they were so sweet, and the minute you opened them after thawing you could smell just how fresh they were when frozen. While there we saw them "grading" the tuna - something other seafood retailers often do not do. Oh - and lest I forget -- their prices far and away beat the seafood retailers in Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. It's a small place - back off the dock and the retail window is inside the processing area. You'll see the staff processing the shrimp and moving fish that just came off the commercial boats around for preparation. The floor is wet so be prepared for that. Everyone in the room was very friendly and professional. Micah was a delight. Really - can't say enough good things."

We had heard amazing "shout outs" about JJ's Seafood so we decided to try him out. This past Friday, on my way to the Bay, from Hopewell, I drove to JJ's and picked up the 20 lbs of shrimp and 4 tuna steaks we had ordered ahead of time. JJ even kept in touch with me throughout the day to let me know when everything was arriving so I would not get there and have to wait. (I wouldn't have minded waiting because not only does JJ have a great personality but he is also very cute!!) When I arrived, JJ packed my coolers for me and carried everything to my car. The tuna steaks were outstanding and the shrimp was to die for!! Thanks, JJ!! As Arnold said, "I'll be back!"Ellen Hunter AndersonGreg Andersonhomeowners in Ophelia AND Hopewell, Virginia"

I thought they were delicious. They apparently operate an oyster ranch on the Northern Neck but seem a bit secretive about where. They apparently don't have a fixed store but will make arrangements for those wanting to buy oysters. Their website events page shows where and when they will be offering oysters. I wish we needed 100 oysters! They gave us some attitude that we would even think to stop in and ask but we're all about supporting local shops. Dan H. "I found this seafood market/restaurant where I want expecting it so went in to try. They sell as well as cook/serve the things they sell (all I believe, even if it's not on the menu).Seafood is basically everything: shrimp (multiple varieties), crab (5x varieties), scallops, mussels, frozen lobster tails, lots of varieties of fish. Regarding the fish, the most exotic I saw was red snapper and salmon (no tuna or Chilean sea bass, etc).Food: they'll make a sandwich out of anything and offer baskets with various amounts of, say, shrimp/scallops/oysters. Everything is fried as far as I could tell so unsure if there is a pan fry option. I got a medium seafood basket (#7) with 5 shrimp, 5 scallops, and 5 oysters along with fries and cole slaw. It was good, not amazing. The seafood seemed fresh. The only sauces they had available were ketchup and hot sauce. Cocktail sauce and tartar sauce would be nice (and seemingly obvious?) additions. I thought it was a little on the spendy side... my basket was $15.99.Thumbs up to Spain, the dude that worked there, for chatting and hoping I enjoyed the food!"

Kelly O. "Capt. Malc's sells fresh North Carolina caught crab, shrimp, scallops, flounder, tuna, etc. for much, much less than any other seafood retailer in the Outer Banks (except for maybe nearby O'Neal's --- it's worth visiting both). This year we got our crabs from Capt. Malc's (put your Dirty Dick's jokes away, thank you very much). Our order of a half bushel (about four dozen --- enough to feed 4-6 people) of number one Jimmy blue crabs were steamed fresh and perfect, timed to the very minute of our scheduled pick up --- a luxury indeed! Due to an unusually small gathering of relatives and friends, this was the first year we did not procure a bushel live blue crab and steam them ourselves in our rented beach cottage, a dinner-act that has become something of a tradition for my family. Putting the task into the hands of another had us both thrilled with the possibility of convenience as well as wary of the probability of disappointment. To put it in the plainest terms possible, Capt. Malc's donf*ckaround when it comes to doing blue crab so right that qualifies as magic to believe in. Eating on them steamin' hot 'n' seasoned crabs in the comfort of our beach house for a grand total of $50 while knowing that patrons of Captain George's restaurant across the street were likely paying as much PER PERSON for far inferior seafood almost gave the four of us something to talk about at the dinner table. Of course, we never said a word lest someone get more crab to eat than anyone else."
