"This is now our favorite mexican restaurant. Big menu, We have been coming since they have been open and ALL the food has been great. I am impressed because they give you plenty of everything including meat. They don't hold back. Quality of everything is really fresh. The brightest guacamole and the crispiest lettuce. My favorite part. EVERYTHING comes to you HOT. They bring you plenty of salsa and one time we ran out . Our server quickly brought us more. Friendliest Staff. Very attentive and upbeat happy energy. The servers are awesome about explaining the menu if you have questions. Communication with all the staff is really wonderful. There are so many really good drinks. They have a drink menu and the menu is huge. So are the drinks. LOVE LOVE LOVE the drinks. My personal fave is the Las Palmas "Coco" Margarita. Lovely to look at with all the fruit lining the rim.Inside is beautiful with Neon lights at the bar and beautiful paintings on the walls. Accents of mexican pottery everywhere. Very colorful. We love it. We even had friends come from Indiana for a visit and all 14 of them loved it. Service was spectacular that night too. Even with a big table of big eaters. They kept the drinks filled all night."
"The experience was definitely worth five stars. Our server, Rachel, was very nice and friendly and informative about the menu as well as the history of the restaurant. We had eaten at its precursor, Hook U Up, downtown a few years ago and were impressed then also. So, their quality hasn't declined with the move to a larger (and more scenic) space. For starters, we had the Wild Mushroom and Goat Cheese dumplings. Absolutely delicious! We also ordered the Mixed Greens with blood orange, figs and chevra goat cheese. Also very tasty. For our main course, we had the Kelp Infused Fettuccine with seared scallops, shrimp, lump crabmeat and braised octopus and the Honey Mustard Rubbed Rack of Lamb with a fig gastrique and whipped sweet potatoes. To be honest, the kelp did infuse the pasta with a green color, however did not seem to infuse any additional flavor. Or, it was too subtle for my palate. However it was cooked excellently, a good portion and the proteins and sauce were excellent. Other than expecting to experience a different flavor profile, there is nothing negative about the dish and lots of positives. The rack of lamb was a fairly large portion and cooked very nicely at medium, as I asked, with a good outside sear and blush of pink in the loin. The fig gastrique paired great with the lamb and the whipped sweet potatoes were delicious I enjoyed it thoroughly and would order it again. They do require reservations. However, they do seat people at the small bar on a first come first serve basis. They also have an outdoor patio where you can sip some drinks and overlook a scenic working Harbor. However they do not serve out there.All-in-all, an excellent dining experience that I will look forward to the next time I am in Cape Charles"

"This is another spot I had on my radar to try... well a few weeks ago, I had time so I pulled up.The parking lot was empty, but I was sure the restaurant was open.I walked in and was greeted warmly. After a few exchange of words, I advised the woman, this was my first time visiting. She welcomed me again...I was a little uneasy of what to try, since most if not all the food is fried and I prefer blackened, broiled or even steamed seafood. I ordered one of the lunch specials and the woman advised she could do light batter. Music to my ears, I didn't even have to ask, suggesting that definitely warranted five stars!!My meal was cooked to order and I waited maybe five minutes give or take another minute.I was tempted to try something on my ride home, but I figured I could wait five more minutes to sit down and enjoy the meal.Surprisingly, I was impressed. My daughter took a few bites and enjoyed the fish. She thought the hushpuppies were a bit thick, but she still came back for more.I ordered the two fish, shrimp and hushpuppies lunch deal. Now I must say I was hungry and if you're like me, your taste buds can very when you hungry, hangry or just want a small bite to eat. But I believe this meal was straight. I will go again just to make sure :)I love scallops, so that's my next entrée of choice.Parking was not an issue, but I can imagine it could get a little out of control because the parking lot is not big at all.Check them out if you are in the area. Keep and I eye out, you could easily ride by this location.Have fun and enjoy life :)"
"Excellent service and food. Great location on the water, the atmosphere was fun. The sunset over the creek was wonderful. Had the local mackerel, locally caught by the local waterman. Then the owner came by with some just off the boat bluefish. I had no idea I liked bluefish. Was told it's something to do with size and water conditions, which apparently were right that afternoon. Definitely recommend."
"Intimate ambience & elevated food experience without being fussy. Just go! Alone or with friends, you will enjoy every bit! I can't wait to go back for amazing craft cocktails, friendly service and unique menu."
"I remember my mother patronizing this establishment when I was a tiny bopper. I stopped in today while I waited to get new tires at Tread Quarters because it's only a block or so away - definitely walking distance.I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and at 6 bucks it was a steal! It was a decent size (about the size of a regular burger) and delicious! It was almost entirely composed of crab meat (very little filler). It's was seasoned perfectly - I got it fully loaded with tartar, lettuce, tomato, and hot sauce. My side of coleslaw was yummy as well (I like mine a little sweet). My only criticism is that I requested water to drink, and was told that they were out of bottled water, and do not serve customers ice water in cups...i find that very unprofessional and annoying. Water is basic, and I'm diabetic and don't do sugary drinksIt's a small and unassuming little place, but the have outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade.I'm glad they're still around after so many years (my 70-year-old uncle says since he was young!!) I grabbed a take out menu because I'll be returning soon....hopefully they'll have water next time."
"Just had the cheese burger and fries ! So good and amazing !! The food there looks so good and variety!! I am going next for the boom boom shrimp!! Thanks as the suggest from one of the worker !First time there and for sure not the last time !! They did awesome job and the staff very friendly and helpful!! Mimi, Parker, , Peyton and the staff the work there are so awesome and friendly people !! They very friendly and cool people !! Again Dare Deli definitely a place to check out and grab a bite to eat !! I will be there again especially in Sunday's before football games I found my new hamburger place !"
"We recently had dinner at Lockside Bar and Grill located just before the Great Bridge Locks in the heart of Chesapeake. The atmosphere here is fantastic and the waterfront setting is amazing."
"Really hit and miss. Waited 20 minutes for 4 mimosas and didn't get our food order taken during that time. Almost made us late for my family's next outing but my cousin drives like the wind! Fried Green Tomatoes; AMAZING, best thing we had! Crab Benedict: disappointing Grits: inedibleFrench Dip: DeliciousLobster Bisque: Freaking delicious!!Everything else was fine, but due to the inconsistency we probably won't be back."
"Best little breakfast deli in the OBX!!! Me and my fiancé come here almost every morning every time we visit the outer banks, and the food is always amazing and not over priced like a lot of other places around here. We've also come here for lunch too, and i love their fried seafood baskets, i particularly like the fried oyster basket, they definitely give you your moneys worth in food. There's not really anywhere to sit inside since it's more of an in-and-out type of place, but they do have picnic tables right outside that we sit at when it's nice outside. The people working here are also always so nice and welcoming, which always makes us wanna come back too. This place is 10/10 and I rave about it to everyone."
"Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal opinion and my personal opinions alone, so with that being said let's go!!..My wife and I decided to get some old bay seasoned wings from here because the night before we had them at a friend's house warming party because we both felt they were really flavorful. To make a long story short we ordered them and also placed an order of lemon and pepper to go along with the old bay wings and unfortunately we weren't as happy as we were with the old bay ones! First we requested the wings to be cooked extra crunchy and they were not ( luckily for us we were eating at home so we popped them in the air fryer for that crunch we desire on our bone in wings!. Second the wings had absolutely no flavor at all, no lemon or pepper flavor of seasonings!. I would try them out again but I wouldn't by that particular flavor of wings anymore!!."
"Dinner was delicious! We were recommended by the hotel staff and double checked here. The menu and specials have all types of seafood. We had raw oysters, bacon wrapped scallops and seafood delight. All well done and fresh, I wish there were other options to go with the oysters like mignonette sauce. Our server, Ricky was great. It seemed like a family run place and the staff knew many of the patrons. Made for a great night."

Hook @ Harvey has been on my radar for a while now. I was supposed to come here a few years ago but had to cancel my reservation at the last minute bc plans changed. Last weekend, my husband and I came in to celebrate our April birthdays while staying in Cape Charles for the weekend. Our server was wonderful, Kelsey I believe. Super friendly and attentive, but not overly so. We chose the crab pastry appetizer and it was very good and loaded with fresh crab meat. My husband went with the veal entree and I had the seafood fettuccine. Both were wonderful and high quality with huge portions (we could've split one between us). The fettuccine is made in-house, it was loaded with crab, shrimp and scallops (they were out of oysters) and is in a light white wine sauce which was wonderful bc it wasn't overly sauced. The veal is egg-washed and lightly flash fried stuffed with cheese and prosciutto and served on noodles with asparagus. Also wonderful. A few things I was disappointed by: their tea isn't fresh or brewed in-house but is the bottled Lipton kind and as such, not very good. Also, they ran out of the dessert for the night, cheesecake, and it was our birthday so we didn't get any dessert which was disappointing bc that was what I specifically planned to get from seeing the menu/photos in advance.

We love Lockside. Food is always great (burger night is my favorite!) and service is top notch. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because several times we have come in for breakfast during the winter and it is absolutely freezing inside. Today-63 degrees. Eat fast if you want hot food!

"Wonderful service and excellent food!! Was so thankful to have our waiter Axel treat us like royalty especially hearing we were from California visiting our daughter stationed at Fort Lee who got special leave for her bday this wkend! He explained everything on menu and recommended wonderful dishes! We all got exactly what we preferred and it was very prompt as well! It was a Friday night so we made reservations! Axel made my daughter feel even more special by allowing her to select the cake of her choice on the house! It was such a great night and we really enjoyed all of it!!"
"The roads down the eastern shore of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia (Routes 13 &113) haven't changed much since I started driving to Newport News to visit family over 30 years ago. Two lane blacktop most of the way, except for the magnificent over Chesapeake Bay tunnel/bridge engineering that makes the adventure all the more worthwhile. There is something timeless about this narrow land surrounded by water that is exemplified by some of the roadside attractions there for your enjoyment and consumption. The Great Machipongo Crab Shack is one of the most compelling stops on southbound Rt.13 in Nassawadox, VA. It is all local color and deep fried clam, oyster and crab southern history. Throw in some Cape Charles Brewery fermentations, and you have a victuals stop of legendary proportions. We stopped in as we headed north to Pennsylvania. It sits in an old McDonald's with bar and market in the house surrounded by tables and booths for sit down eating. String lights on the ceiling, and old maps and photos of fishing boats and longbeards hanging loosely on the walls. Atmosphere thick enough to eat along with your meal. It really shouldn't be missed. We ordered lunch of Flounder Stuffed w Crabmeat and the Local Fried Oyster Basket w Hush Puppies & Sweet Potato Fries. Had a Cape Charles IPA for washdown. Powdered everything with tabletop Queen of Sheeba spices as recommended by our friendly server. It was all quite enjoyable and filling. It was fresh and flavorful as intended, but would not be mistaken for high end dining. The house was nearly full on this Sunday afternoon with mostly local oldsters and a bunch of hungry road warriors. Lots of first names being shouted across the room as friends greeted each other. We listened to their chatter to pick up hints on what was best to order. Helpful to be sure, as no one was asking for steak, but many grabbed up the crab cakes, oyster po' boys and burgers. Just sorry it took so long to finally check Maripongo out. It is surely another prime destination on this historic down south byway."
"This is definitely more of a 4.5 rating but the pad thai was a little lackluster. Other than that, this was a great Thai restaurant. Came here because we were going to be in the area and wanted thai food. Service: A+ All the staff were kind and efficient. We got there right before they got busy on Saturday evening, and only waited about 5 minutes before our dish came out. Drinks were refilled quickly and we had our main meals within 20 minutes of sitting down. Food: Food was all around delicious. We had the following: Crispy Spring Rolls-nice and crispy with a sweet and sour sauce. A very good sauce. The Fresh paper rolls with chicken-very good and LOVED the fresh basil in them. The dipping sauce was like a sweet honey but with a kick and yummy crushed peanuts on top. Unique and crave-able. Beef with Basil and onions and peppers-so good and flavorful! The beef was perfectly cooked and the sauce was yummy. Pad Thai-The flavor as mentioned above didn't wow me but it wasn't bad. Have had more flavorful pad Thai's at other places. Very beautiful restaurant inside as well."
"Classic place, used to go here when I was a kid. Glad to see it's still here and thriving."
"We went to KC with some out of town friends for dinner and pool. Since it was Valentine's Day they had a special menu which 3 of us ordered off of. I myself ordered a burger at the recommendation of our waitress, Heather. Not only was the service outstanding but the food was AWESOME! We enjoyed our evening so much. The food there is much better than some of the higher end restaurants in Kilmarnock. I highly recommend KC's Crabs and Cues."
"Food was excellent. It is a little 'divey' and the smell of smoke lingers from days gone by but the food was really good! Service was friendly."
"Great food, service and value! Guacamole was best I've had. All portions were very generous and delicious."
"a bit underwhelming! every time my family and i travel to the area we try to go to tortuga's lie but the wait is always overwhelmingly long. finally we were able to get there at a time where we didn't have to wait for a table (about 15 minutes after their opening time). we were seated and the service was definitely friendly!the part that disappointed fell with the food. i went with my family of 6, and we all tried different things. i ordered myself a teriyaki burger, which was honestly really good. i wasn't craving seafood, so i got the next best thing and i was pleasantly surprised that it was good. however the rest of my family ordered seafood and left disappointed.the Coco Loco Chicken was honestly kind of dry and flavorless. there was a tuna wrap special that day, and the fish was definitely odd tasting. i'm sure it was supposed to be raw, but it was really blue, and the size of it compared to the rest of the filling was too big. it was flavorless, and my partner that ordered it left with a stomachache. i really wish i loved it, but it's definitely a bit overhyped. definitely not worth waiting a while in line."
"The best draft beer selection at the best price with the best views. $20 pitchers of all the good stuff. Enjoyed the queso.Small outside bar on the boardwalk with picnic tables. You walk up to the bar and order there."
"Very friendly service. The fried chicken is made to order and definitely worth the wait. Strongly recommend. I heard the crab dip was also their specialty but unfortunately they were out. Will try again next time we are back in VA."
"Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!..We have searched two other restaurants looking for a place to host a party of 15 people and this was the only restaurant that was able to compliment us with no wait time at all. The food was hot and fresh and the waitress was kind and polite the minute she asked for our orders. The reason I'm taking away a star is because the service was kind of slow but I truly understand because most restaurants still are short staffed! But our waitress did the best she could and we appreciate her tremendously! Wait before I forget they make drinks with high potency so if you're a light weight drinker stay away from the alcoholic beverages please! I will be returning again sometime soon."
"We stopped by today for lunch and everything was delicious. I haven't been since the new owners opened it up and let me tell you what! They did an awesome job! I liked that they made the menu smaller! The restaurant itself is large and roomy but still feels cosy and it's very clean!!! The waitress we had was very attentive and cheerful which is always a good sign! The food was hot tasty and fresh and we didn't have to wait long!!! Prices are very affordable for such high quality dishes! Can't wait to come back! I forgot to add that there is an outside patio!! In and out of the shade and there is wheelchair acces"
"We were in the mood for seafood and Rundown Cafe had high reviews. We came here early afternoon, it was not busy at all. Our server was friendly and attentive to our table. The ambiance is a chill spot and ironically isn't 'rundown.' At the time of our visit their rooftop deck/patio was under renovation. The food we got was exactly what we were looking for. It was delicious! The crab cake burger was so good. They serve their dishes with a chipotle tartar sauce and its boss! Overall this place was a total win and we'd come back in the future!"
"This place was great, we had omnivores, a vegetarian and a vegan! Everything was lovely. Someone had a cocktail, someone had a mocktail, folks had sodas, cold cider, and a hot cider. We ate out back at the picnic tables, wrapped things up with a cornhole game!"
"By far-my favorite Las Palmas location! The food is my favorite Mexican available in the Hampton Roads area. The location can't be beat-it's right by the Movie Theater in Lynnhaven Mall-great for a date night meal before a movie!!!Service was INSANELY awesome-very attentive server and staff and the food was SUPER fast!!!My ONLY concern or recommendation is that the Margarita just isn't quite what you can get at Jose's or other places."
"I traveled to Richmond for work and located a seafood place in downtown Richmond. I choose to try The Hard Shell because of the ratings and have to say that overall, I agree! Service was prompt and friendly (shout out to Taylor!) and ambiance nice: good music, nice size bar, a mix of tables and expansive booths as well as outdoor patio searing. The menu is a mix of fish but-as the name suggests-shell fish dominates. They have selections for meat eaters-I started with the BBQ ribs followed by the shrimp pasta; the BBQ rib appetizer was fantastic: highly recommended-fall off the bone tender! Choosing an entree was hard-lots of good choices, but I went with the shrimp pasta-which I have to say was just Ok. Think a blush or vodka sauce as opposed to what seemed a heavy cream sauce would have added the punch I sought. But presentation, serving size, ambiance and value were all there! I had a late evening reservation so didn't linger for dessert but I'll be back when next in town and recommend you do as well!"
"We stopped by Decoy's Seafood, located at 3305 Ferry Road in the heart of Suffolk for lunch and to watch the total Solar Eclipse. This place is fantastic and it was such a perfect day to enjoy the eclipse. We had some Bennetts Creek Nachos for $17. This is a hearty dish served with Grilled Chicken, Shredded Jack Cheese, Mango Salsa, Pickled Jalapeno and Sour Cream. This was a fantastic dish and we really enjoyed it. Being a large portion, it was certainly enough to share, so you won't overeat, if you're having an entree.Mauri was our server and he was friendly, attentive and helpful with menu questions and suggestions. We had a great experience here and we are already planning our next visit."
"When you walk in Ballyhoos it has a dive bar feel to it but I love it. Casual dining. We had a great time. And the food was Excellent. Shrimp cocktail are nice size shrimp. They even had lumpia. My friends drink was really good. She let me take a sip. They did not have it on the menu but I got a mocktail, Pineapple with sprite. It was so nice of them to make for me and I liked it so much I drank 3 of them. The bathrooms could be a little cleaner. Pretty good parking. I would say a great place to meet friends and have a good time."
"I have been coming to Virginia Beach for almost 40 years. I'm from northern Virginia the restaurant El Potrillo is very homey the waiter was very accommodating very friendly very nice. Service was excellent. The bathrooms were very clean. The food was excellent. I had an enchilada ranchero supreme my friend had an enchilada and my other friend had shrimp tacos. I believe it was all very excellent. The deserts were excellent my friend had a fried Cheesecake and the other friend. We all also had Mexican coffee which was excellent too. We also had fundido de queso y chorizo and being the Virginia Beach area, Mexican restaurant, they serve white salsa which is born in a Virginia Beach Mexican restaurant however, it has been adopted at the many local restaurants there. Try it out it's good. I hope to make it back there."
"Yellow fin tuna bites delicious and hush puppies were awesome too! Quaint little patio dining looking over the beach. Server was excellent!"
"I have been here twice, both for birthday occasions with a large party, and I have to say they are very accommodating. Props to the staff!! This place has a pretty low rating, but I disagree. Great service, fresh delicious seafood, and a wide drink menu say otherwise.Unfortunately I don't have many pictures yet, besides a dim one of the massive Neptune's platter because we ate outside in the dark this time, and last time I wasn't on Yelp. But I have sampled the platters, stealing off of my boyfriend's plate, and the Shore Drive Fish Tacos. Both are divine. There is also a good selection of non-seafood items. And again, service is always quick and friendly. This past visit was my boyfriend's siblings bday. We had a large party of 10 hosted by their parents. They were pretty rambunctious, but I always make sure to recognize the hard work of service workers. I felt terrible for our server because half the time, he would come up and check on us, and my boyfriend, the sibling's husband and I were the only ones not ignoring him. But he still kept a great attitude. Even when he stopped by multiple times and their mom complained about needing something when she could have asked if she paid attention. Not to air her out... but our server was very very patient. In-laws!!!!!!!! Lol. My boyfriend and I tipped very well to hopefully make it worth it.I haven't been to the bar, but when I went inside to use the restroom, it was very noisy and crowded from the bargoers. So there's a big scene there if you're into that vibe. So, no matter what you're into, especially if you LOVE seafood like me, stop by CP Shuckers!!!!"
"I'm pretty sure I'm the last person on earth to get into chicken wings, but once I fell in love then I soon became a connoisseur lol! So far America's Best Wings is still in the lead after trying over 10 local wing spots. ABW has dozens of flavors available as well as the option to mix flavors to create your own awesomeness! There's also the option to add sides such as fries, salad, Mac & cheese, cole slaw, and others! Today's order was misunderstood, as I ordered "drums only" and the cashier thought I'd said "no drums" and the order was made with all flats. The manager came out after only a few minutes after the incorrect one order was presented to me and apologized! So although there was a mix up, the service was fast and friendly! And the wings were DELISH! Thus the 5 star rating still applies! Total BB referral!"
"Great food and service! The drinks were great and the place is so cute. Definitely get the Goombay smash and a t shirt to commemorate the occasion!"
