"Chick's Oyster Bar offers a classic coastal dining experience, with its prime location right on the water, allowing diners to enjoy the beautiful marina view. Watching boats glide in and out of the inlet while enjoying a meal adds a special touch to the ambiance, perfectly complementing the seafood-centric menu. The food itself holds up well, especially if you're a fan of fried appetizers (Thats what I had). Classic favorites like crispy calamari, golden hush puppies, and crunchy fried oysters are all executed perfectly, delivering that satisfying crunch and rich flavor that you expect. While these dishes aren't exactly reinventing the wheel, they don't need to sometimes, sticking to the classics is the best choice. The overall vibe of Chick's is laid-back and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal with friends or family. Whether you're unwinding after a day at the beach or just looking for a relaxing place to enjoy some good food with a great view, Chick's Oyster Bar hits the mark."
"The food hit the spot for a late-night meal. The pretzel starter came out warm and the accompanying stone-ground mustard and sausage gravy-like sauce to dip it in were tasty. The brussel sprouts were just how I love them - fried to a crispy-crunchy texture. I enjoyed the pork belly BLT; a more substantial take on the traditional BLT. The service was decent; the food arrival was timed well. I think the staff was helping each other out bc we basically interacted with 3 different people. Overall, it's slightly elevated pub food; I'd come back to enjoy the entertainment side of the house, along with a beer."

"I visited Union Alehouse with a large party, and overall, it was a great experience. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed night out with friends or family. Our waitress did a fantastic job handling our big group, ensuring that food and drinks arrived on time. Despite the size of our party, everything came out quickly and correctly, which is always impressive. The service was friendly, and the staff seemed genuinely welcoming. As for the food, it did not disappoint. I had the fig and goat cheese pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The balance of sweet and savory flavors, along with the crispy crust, made for a memorable dish. We shared the poutine which was incredible! Everyone at our table seemed to enjoy their meals as well, with a variety of options to choose from. The only real downside to the experience was that our table became overcrowded with dirty plates and cups. Unfortunately, our server didn't clear anything away throughout the meal, so by the time we were finished, the table was overly cluttered. It would have made for a more comfortable dining experience if the table had been tidied throughout the night.Despite that, we still had a great time. If you're looking for a laid back spot with solid food and a good drink selection, Union Alehouse is worth a visit."
"I'll be honest, I had low expectations as I know it's a college student hangout, but I actually really enjoyed this place. The food and drinks were good and very reasonably priced, and the trivia was super fun. I will likely be back :)"
"Great ambiance of this Irish pub! Felt like I was in Ireland for a bit with the decor and side secret door leading to another part of the restaurant was nifty! Staff is friendly plus knowledgeable of menu. I got a nice, flakey fish n' chips with a local lager to wash it down. My guy got the Reuben with a side of onion rings. Some of the rings onions were stringy but the beer-batter breaded component plus dipping it between ranch or tartar sauce was tantalizing. Very filling meal plus good company made for a nice dinner. Each day of the week brings something engaging and entertaining for the masses like karaoke Sundays at 9pm. Also they may need to change out the air filters or clean the vents...after the meal we had trouble breathing through our noses/got stuffy but alas, could have been allergies I reckon. Overall simple, lowkey meal with a beer is what you'll love here!"
"We came here to augment our lost colony experience, and I'm so glad we did. We visited the visitor center and were waiting for the Lost Colony show when we had to get some dinner. I had to order the Scotch egg and got the oysters and chips as my entree. I have to say that for a restaurant that I was there for tourist, it didn't disappoint. The Scotch eggs were moist and the pepper jelly was the perfect complement. My son and I finished that fast! The oysters were very crunch on the outside and yummy goodness on the inside. Cocktail sauce went well with them and plentiful. They gave me so much chips that I couldn't finish. Portions here were huge!I also had to try out the local beer so I opted for Kitty Hawk Blonde. It was so good after a hot day of touring.I personally love the British references throughout the restaurant. I ate outside which was perfect as the evening was starting. I wish we had a pub like this of this quality back in CA. Our server Eden was very attentive, and it was much appreciated."

Valet parking only. This is always a busy restaurant so they have a hostess as soon as you walk in. Pretty good service. The food has always been great. Crab dip is my favorite. The shrimp are really big and never disappoints. We have had burgers, they were ok. We have had a variety of food over the years. Some great and a few things that were so so. And a few times the bathrooms were a mess. I love the different bar areas and the view is wonderful. Last time we were there we watched dolphins in the water and a beautiful sunset. If they would keep the bathrooms cleaner on a regular basis, I would bump up the stars for sure.

This place is such a nice local bar. I've ordered take out from them before and just recently tried them in person and it was great. The food is beyond phenomenal. We got the pork belly appetizer which was probably my favorite, and the burger with pulled pork on it. So delicious. And all of the staff were really nice. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for drinks and good food down colley.

Sunday staple. Good food, fair prices. Not too busy at all for brunch, good vibes. Great for the commanders games, but a little too insane for Thursday night football.

I'm in town often and stay at the HGI. Lots within walking distance. Did a nice refresh of the inside. Looks great !! Clean and just a little brighter. Standard pub fare and more. Great for business happy hour, maybe dinner depends what you like. Lots of healthy options, but also the yummy stuff that you don't always do. Definitely an after dinner chill with music and conversation place. Service is always spot on. Thanks to the staff !!

"Located in the Jefferson retail shopping system. The food hall I'd open and welcoming. You are greeted by a staff and are seated on a soft cushion at a booth or open table area. The dining area is open, large, and has a clean interior. There are several video walls rotating the food, a large screen with music videos playing, and a large bar area. There is a large menu on the board as well.Upon being seated, you'll scan a QR code to order your food. In the meantime, if you are given water you get two stainless steel cups and a carafe of iced water. Ordering on the phone is quick and easy and there are a fee options for a meal. The food gets served out by a server on a food cart. The service is fast, polite, and friendly. The flavors were rich and flavorful from first bite to last. I would definitely come back and try their other dishes as well."
"Food was good, just stopped in for a football game. Sat at the bar and the bartender was cool she paid attention to everyone and not just the regular customers. So I would say they had good service. The ambience was cool it gave you an old school pub feel"
"I visited here on a rainy Saturday night for an event with the Portsmouth Humane society. There were several other locations involved along High St, but it started here at Baron's where their porch and 2 inside tables were taken over. So props to Baron's for supporting the pets in need and hosting! The only reason I docked a star here was the heat was on way too high. Everyone was hot. Otherwise this was a well managed, busy bar in the early evening on a weekend night. The staff were kind and my drink was awesome! They have awesome happy hour pricing, I literally did a double take when I got my bill. They have some of the best chicken tenders I have had in a while. With a rich batter that's tasty and not all crunch. It was easily 2 portions of chicken! Fries were awesome and sauces a-ok. Baron's is on my list of places to come back to, and I don't even live close to Portsmouth."
"This is a small, but fantastic bar. When you walk in, there's a bar on your left and a single pool table in the back (it's $1.50 per game) and there's also an outdoor section with a smoker.Everybody seemed to be a local and I understand why. It's tucked away and it has cheap and TASTY drinks. The beer is very flavorful and has a wide variety. ItEverybody seems to be enjoying themselves. It's a a quiet and yet exciting classic bar to celebrate at our just get a drink at."
"My go to spot before I hit the movies next door! looking for a strong drink and a fun casual atmosphere? come here. The bartenders are really nice and attentive. They also have food if you want to order something to eat. nothing special just bar stuff. Super basic tavern decor and drinks. Prices are a bit steep for drinks and food for a bar I noticed. Other than that ill definitely come back to pre game prior to my movies!"
"The newland burger is by far the best. Huge burger done right with everything on it. Came with a side of fries done perfectly. I couldn't finish it all and I'm a pretty big dude. Will be back for the newland burger and fries."
