"Competitive parking lot situation during post-meal hours. The poor staff probably spend as much time explaining what's in the various flavors to tourists as they do waiting for people to finish sampling. I don't get the hype. The flavors are alright, with coconut being one of the favorites for our group, but the texture across the board is a little gummy, rather than creamy. The last straw was when I found a small hair in my ice cream. I'd originally planned on hitting up another of their locations to try other flavors like Cherries Jubilee / Rum Raisin / Limoncello, but this experience encouraged me to save my calories for other treats."
"Love the history of this place. The setting is very retro, and I like that it's authentic, not one of those places that is actually fairly new but trying to be vintage. My ice cream was very reasonably priced - coming from Phoenix, AZ, it actually felt quite cheap. It was also very tasty. Service was decent - not great, not horrible. One of the staff saw me snapping photos and approached me to share a bit of history and showi the waffle cone machine. I really appreciated that, and it made a big difference in my experience with the establishment. They also have binders with old photographs and facts about this and other old diners in the area. You have to go outside to get to the restrooms, which isn't ideal but maybe that's in line with the authentic old-school experience!"
"Tasty ! First time here & i'm definitely coming back:) Note: It's a very popular spot so arrive early before it starts getting crowded. Pretty small location but have tables and benches available outdoors."
"We ordered delivery for this order so I can't write a review about how the people are, and how the cafe looks. I can tell you about the goodies though.Taro Cake-Soooo good!! It's moist, fluffy, the frosting doesn't overpower the taro flavor with sweetness and it makes it perfect!! You can actually taste the flavor of the cake, unlike other cakes from other places, it's nothing but sugar. My daughter said she didn't want cake, but I told her she'd regret it if she doesn't at least try this cake. She ended up finishing it and wished we bought more. lolMacarons-I believe the ones in the pic are taro flavored. Yum! We've had other flavors from this cafe before. When my SIL and the fam were in town they went exploring and found this cafe, then decided to bring a bunch of goodies to a family gathering. That's how we heard about this cafe, and trying what they brought made us want to buy more. They are that good! Oreo cake- Like their other cakes, fluffy, moist, and yummy!Red velvet-Yum! Love the flavor of the cream cheese frosting. Not overly sweet that you can actually taste the cream cheese flavorFruit cake-So good! It's a light and fluffy cake. Not overly sweet. Mango pineapple-Not sure how it tastes because my nephew had that one and he didn't really say what he thought about it. It looked good though. Overall, I can confidently say for sure that their cakes and macarons are delicious!! I would buy and eat a slice everyday if I could. They are that good!!"
"I am not one to visit fast casual burger joints, but this one really is good. The food always comes out fast and piping hot, and their flavor is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of the fries, but my family loves them- they do always come out fresh and evenly cooked, so can't complain. I've also always had really fast service, and I appreciate that we don't have a server but can just put in the order and wait at the table. This location is also conveniently located near everything in Town Center, which makes it super tempting anytime we're there."
"Bergey's Breadbasket is a must visit if you are in the area. They make the ice cream themselves, and the flavors are seasonal. We all had an ice cream and it was delicious, creamy, not insanely sweet. They also had some unique flavors. I missed the key lime pie but picked up peanut brittle and other locally made goodies. My husband loved the turkey club sandwich. The outdoor seating area is super cute. They also have goats you can feed which my kiddos loved. We didn't get a chance to visit the petting zoo due to time but we will next time."
"Rick's is a Portsmouth gem. So many options to choose from and the staff are patient and will answer all questions. My niece and I got super sundaes. Flavors: vanilla custard, strawberries, and OreosVanilla custard, strawberries, and vanilla wafers The sundae was really good and filling. The Oreos were crunchy and provided a good balance with the glazed strawberries and custard. We sat in the patio area as there is no indoor seating and enjoyed the breeze. I love it here. There is a swing for the kids to play on. We will be back!"
"What a cute shop!!! Most of the employees we've encountered have been phenomenal (I had one sourpuss last night but the rest of the team were AWESOME)!!!The flavors are both traditional and inventive. The names are fun. Also, YES, we did have it for dinner last night. ;o) We first tried this spot when we were in town during the winter and made it a point to visit again one our last-minute VB visit. It did not disappoint. I had a medium, which allowed me to choose 3 scoops. I got the Blanchard's Dark as Dark (espresso), Just Ask (white chocolate ice cream with Oreos and PB), & The Dude (kahlua & fudge)...all freakin' delicious!!!! Their mint chip is also super delicious with its yummy peppermint base that I super loved during the winter!!!Now we just need a location up in DC!!"
"We love Lolly's! This location has added some awesome outdoor seating since my last visit!I recently went dairy free & Lolly's almost always has at least 1 vegan flavor. When we visited it was Pina colada sorbet. I wasn't in the mood for that flavor so I opted for a jollypop instead. It tastes like a fresh fruit popsicle! A litttllleee over priced in my opinion, around $6. My husband got cookie monster which I really feel like is a fan favorite! It's pretty blue color catches yours and your kids eyes! And it's filled with all the delicious cookie bits you can dream of. Lolly's is the perfect stop for ice cream after your beach day!"
"We were looking for an ice cream place for a family treat. Ordering was so easy and the staff was friendly and helpful. The soft served custard was delicious. Servings were huge. I would recommend sharing with a friend. If you are looking for a place to satisfy your sweet tooth this is the place."
"The hubs and I were in the Williamsburg area in search of a cold sweet treat. We've gotten accustomed to shaved ice on the islands, but on the mainland the ice is more coarse. Thankfully yelp helped us locate this local shop offering snow cones to cool off on this hot humid day. They have a small parking lot, but don't be discouraged the turnover rate is high as customers brought their treats into their cars and left. There is a plethora of flavors to choose from. I was trying to be somewhat mindful of calories, so I chose the sugar free dreamsicle. Vanilla and orange flavors mixed sounded like a dream:) The hubs ordered the spongebob which included mango, lemon-lime, and lemonade. But then we both saw the sign of ultimate "stuffed" snowball. :::eyes widened::: Calories went out the door, and I ordered mine stuffed while his was ultimate stuffed lol. The difference was condensed milk and marshmallow fluff in the bottom. We both had the ice cream in the center of our snowball and a soft serve on top. Ingenious concept and it was very refreshing. I ordered a regular stuffed and they were very generous to fill it to the top, to the point of adding an additional cup to support all the cold juices. This is worth checking out and great for the little ones. Support local!"
"On our day off, Sophia and I headed here to this little spot located in Fort Monroe. They are located in what was the oldest firehouse for the US Army. The decor inside is priceless. Seating is both inside and outside for your preference. They were even featured for a Friday Flavors segment last year for Channel 13. Question is did it live up to the hype from Yelpers? We were immediately greeted by staff upon entering. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte along with a sausage, egg and cheese croissant. Talk about feeling right at home. The coffee was perfect and the crossaint was very good. Very buttery and came through. Sophia ordered the same and liked it as well.Just like many other places, it looks like we found a new place. Welcoming staff, place that is small and quaint and food and beverages you can enjoy :)"

Best ice cream in Chincoteague! I love to go here with the kids. And the affogato is perfection! The parking lot is small, so we prefer to ride our bikes and avoid the parking lot. The service never disappoints and they have a great system for the busy crowds. I also bought a long sleeve sweater this time!

So much fun going to get an ice cream cone! Got to watch cones being made on the first ice cream cone machine dating back to 1904. Had the chocolate ice cream and it was soooo good! Very chocolaty and not sickening sweet.

What a fun little place. It's obvious that it's a locals favorite. Right after we got in line (second after one family), people were lined up half way down the block. There was only one staff member working that day and even though he was stressed (I would be too), he was polite and friendly. He made us feel like no one else mattered but us at that moment. He was puzzled as to why so many customers until we mentioned spring break. I got the coffee ice cream in hopes of killing two birds with one stone. I wanted ice cream but I also wanted coffee so of course, coffee ice cream it was. What a great choice. It was so rich and creamy. It definitely satisfied both cravings. For those that live near by, lucky you. For those visiting that area, definitely stop by and enjoy like my family and I did.

Nice and chill place to go. I like that you walk in and you can order using the touchscreen ordering system, or walk up to the counter and get assistance. I prefer the touchscreen, I don't feel pressured to rush. It's easy, they made it so that you can easily find what you need. After paying for your order, you sit down and they bring your food to the table. Servers have always been nice and cheerful. You clean up after yourself when you're done eating so the area is as clean as others leave it. I do see people that work there cleaning and wiping tables down every now and then. As far as the food goes, it's great!! We just discovered this place not too long ago and have gone 3 times as a family. Sometimes my son goes with his friends. The food really is good, we've stopped going to our favorite burger place because this has become our new favorite.

My husband and I went our first date alone since we became parents. We started with dinner, then checked out the casino and ended with custard. Let me tell you, it was the best hidden gem on this side of town. It was packed, even at 9pm. The drive through line was wrapped around the building. Yet, the teenagers that worked there were both kind and efficient. We ordered and it was ready lightening fast. To top it off, it was delicious! If you are ever looking for a super affordable dessert- highly recommend Rick's Frozen Custard.

BEST ICE CREAM IN VB!!!I can't even begin to describe how amazing Gelati Celesti is!! Since they opened I have probably given them well over $1000 from ordering their amazing ice cream Their flavors are classic but still very unique and they are regularly rotating, which is a bonus! I've never had a bad flavor I personally like chocolate dendance, melon, watermelon and blueberry sorbetto, gingerbread & peppermint during the holidays. I think they're fruit flavors are unbeatable compared to anywhere else. They are so flavorful, you can taste the cream just as much as the fruit! Even though most of their staff is pretty young , they are always very nice and open to conversation plus very personable with customers! Also whoever was their interior designer did an amazing job with that ice cream scooper wall, stunning!

"Came into this location on a Monday afternoon about 2 PM with my family of 7. We had a great experience. The employee who helped us was very friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and well put together. The art within is very vibrant and welcoming. There are many toppings to choose from, the ice cream was delicious, and the price is reasonable. We would definitely recommend and return in the future."
"Omg...best burger I have had in a very long time...maybe ever. I got the Memphis Burger. And the tater tots were yummy too. We drove for 45 minutes to get there and it was worth it! Highly recommend. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cafeteria style ordering but they bring you your food. No "presentation, served in cardboard boats but none needed!"
"Went Sat 1/19/25 looked as they had been busy but they offered to accommodate us ~~ staff was very kind. We got the strawberry crunch slice with cheesecake middle and we got the lemon blueberry crunch slice and a wedding cupcake A MAZ ING my fave was the lemon blueberry crunch it's so innovative I have never had anything like it!! It's a cute little place and we will be back. Thanks for an amazing experience"
"Such a delicious ice cream shop! They have so many flavors and you can add yummy toppings. I got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream in a waffle cone. I'll definitely go back!"
"Homemade ice cream! Come and get your homemade ice cream! Everything tasted so good! We ordered the strawberry, coconut and Carmel espresso ice cream!!! And they were all good choices! I especially loved the coconut bits in that particular flavored ice cream! They are allowing inside dining with plenty of room! But the farmers market does have outdoor tables available for the public too. They have hand wipes available for the messy kids or adults lol. Plenty of parking available. And you can try as much flavors you want!"
"I came for the pie and soft serve ice cream. I was not disappointed. Sweet tooth squad, the hype is real!Shoofly Dairy Bar gets its name from the PA Dutch dessert Shoofly pie and offers soft serve ice cream made with Farm Friend milk (non GMO, from happy grass fed cows,) among other menu items like Hawaiian shave ice, snoballs etc... Specializing in natural and organic ingredients, staff are well versed in their extensive menu offerings of what is natural colored, sugar free or made with organic cane sugar. The customer service received from this local Mom n Pop style shop was fantastic, which is merely the cherry on the top of my 5 star review. We got a slice of the Shoofly pie, a Whoopie Pie and a soft serve to share.... Prices are very fair for the size of the serving. The pie is a Mennonite family recipe and is absolutely delicious. Are you also one that takes your dog everywhere with you? Well, there is something for them too! It's called the Pup Cup. It's a snoball topped with peanut butter flavor, real beef or chicken broth and a small dog bone - my beagle did not sleep on this, she wolfed this down (and did not savor it...) but no complaints from her, just puppy dog eyes begging for more."
"Ok this place was packed on a Saturday and driving home I had to stop and see what the hype was all about. We had eaten dinner and decided to go for ice cream! I had the fudge brownie ice cream which was Ah..mazing and my boyfriend created his own ice cream combo and my son had a rainbow ice cream! We were all satisfied. They also have food which plenty of people ordered gyros so I have to go back to grab some other items! Definitely friendly and great food!"
"This was our first time trying a sweet treat like this. There are so many flavors and choices. The texture is very light and delicate, yet it stays together with practically no noticeable moisture or melting when you start eating. The flavors were delicious, very much like a light ice cream but with no cream I guess, hard to explain it, you should just try it. It got all positive reviews from my family and they can be picky."
"As soon as you walk in you will be greeted by the best sugary sweet smell! The shop rotates flavors so be sure to check before you go and you can order milk with your cookies. My favorite was the very classic chocolate chip. I thought the cookies were very sweet, almost a little too sweet for me, but maybe they would be perfect for someone else. I definitely think it's worth trying on your own and I would come back to try different flavors."
""GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE!!"-Nacho to Eskeleto in Nacho Libre movie. I simply cannot eat corn on a cob without thinking of that movie scene. Folks, LA MICHOACANA is also the absolute best ice cream in Richmond for many reasons, some which I'll mention. Did you know they make their own? All the wonderful myriad of flavors of ice cream and fro-yo are all homemade. While I couldn't have possibly tasted them all, the ones I've tried are incredible. Their paletas or pops are also delicious. I LOVE the coconut one, and one day live on the edge and try their tres leches or the one with the 2 oreos embedded within. I chose the corn on this day because I recently turned on a co-worker to their ice cream and he raved about the corn or "elote." You DO NOT have to speak Spanish as one reviewer stated with 1-star. Had they been patient, used google translate, made an effort, (as one oftentimes has to when travelling abroad), they would have been well rewarded. Go here for the amazing ice cream, paletas, and venture in to the savory land of their delicious street elote."
"Didn't get pics because we ate ours so fast because it was so good! My bf got the funnel donuts as part of the do ut sundae and OMG it was sooo good!! I just got 2 scoops of ice cream and it was delicious! Small on the inside, didn't have other food and high school staff so you know what you're getting into. Great donut and ice cream options! Will definitely be back!"
"The establishment is clean... the flavors and varieties are on point... and the service is the best I've seen in a while, Sierra was amazing! I will absolutely go back, and plan to!"
"Excellent place. Clean, friendly and warm environment. Excellent food! Small family owned. Great staff"
"The food is ok. Standard sandwiches and the ice cream is Hershey's. Salty. My grandkids love it due to the kid friendly choices. Service is good and Ambiance is outstanding. Great spot in downtown Smithfield"
"First time here. Ordered the Butter Pecan Gate. The ice Cream was really good.Friendly staff! Not over crowded either. Hidden gem. Definitely would come back."
"Simple , quick & never misses . Food is always hot & fresh . Casual setting & easy pick me up when craving a chili cheese dog ! Love them . Sweet potato fries are a must."
"Neat little place! Friendly and fun! Ice cream is so good. Feels like a small beach town business, highly recommend."
"This Bruster's location should have been included in the Richmond Times Dispatch ice cream contest! The ice cream is always delicious and fresh. The servers are friendly and very patient even with the long lines. I feel it is a much better value than the Gelati Celesti shops. The owner has gone out of his way to make it very family friendly. Also, they give the little dog cup FREE and my dog knows when we pull into Bruster's that she's going to get a delicious ice cream with peanut butter sauce and a bone! I asked once at a gelati Celesti, if they have a free dog cup and I was told that I could buy a toddler cup. Brusters"
"We love love love this ice cream shop! We are locals, so we visit for ice cream all year, even in the winter. The owner is amazing and its the most delicious ice cream but most of all- the cones! I don't know the secret but they're just so delicious!"
"T & J's Dairy Barn is one of those places you drive by a hundred times and think to yourself "I've gotta stop and try that place some day." Well - that day finally arrived. A surprisingly diverse menu for such an unassuming building. Rockfish or flounder sandwiches, shrimp, ribs, hush puppies, seafood bisque, she crab soup, paninis, pizza, corn dogs, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads - and of course ICE CREAM! Decisions, decisions. Settled on a Chili Cheese Dog and a Chicago Dog -expecting a couple of mediocre, standard fare dogs - but to my surprise what should appear - but two footlong delicious dogs donned with mass quantities of happiness. Too much food! And too good not to finish. Girlfriend tried the cheesesteak and seasoned fries. Both awesome- though seemed the fries should have been cooked a little longer (a little mushy in the middle). Topped it off with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream - and the girlfriend went for pineapple coconut. So good it made our eyes roll to the back of our heads. Can't pass up the opportunity to take a selfie on the Cowch (a couch / bench shaped like a cow). Hard to beat the bargain of the Dairy Barn. And the friendly staff. We'll be back. Often."
"The most recent time I was here I had the birthday cake and the strawberry pound cake ice cream. It was so creamy and delicious I think I finished it before I left the parking lot. But notTo worry because I also tried the strawberry lemonade Italian ice. lol! I've never tried a bad flavor and the kids and I. Banana pudding!! Also a top favorite! You definitely won't be disappointed in what you try and the flavors are made there??? I love it! I'll make the 25 minute drive whenever I get the urge which is probably too often!!"
"Had a few funnel cakes and oh my! They were good! We even had them delivered and they were still hot and fresh on that 20 minute ride. My kids demolished the cupcakes I didn't even get a bite so I can't comment on how they were but I can say the kids ate them up so they couldn't have been bad!"
"A real ice cream stand, good stuff, friendly staff, fast service, clean, good quality and reasonably priced.Had one good fudge sundae just what I was looking for.Busy on a warm night.Good for kids of all ages.Looking forward to another visit."
