"Call it like I see it. This is my local grocery store. I have been here dozens of times, and I've had zero issues. The one thing you notice right away is the sheer amount of people that work here. There is someone by the front door where the shopping carts are. They are stocked with cashiers. There's are folks in the bakery, deli, and produce. When you walk around, there are workers in the aisles restocking. Second thing I notice is how clean everything is and orderly. Those things matter. I've also had zero issues finding things that I need. Now do they have speciality items like a fresh market would have? No. But they do have items a typical grocery store would have. Lastly, I rarely wait long in line if I even have to wait. The cashier's are quick and respectful. Well done."
"Over the years of living in rural places, I've come to love a little gas station that has a hot plate service. I've found some real gems over time. This place is no different. They even a small "grocery" section where you can get a few staples. A fishing goods area. Regular convenience store items like snacks and drinks. Overall it's a fairly well kept establishment, clean and cozy. The staff is always friendly and the food is good. The parking is never really a problem though sometimes it does get a little packed. Wonderful little community staple."
"Great sandwich shop housed in a historic home that includes a fun gift shop with many unique wines, food items and goods! Stopped by to grab a sandwich- you can either create your own or pick an already created favorite from the list. I went plain Jane and made a turkey, American, onion lettuce tomato and bay on white bread. It was a hefty sandwich filled to the brim with meats. Split it with a friend and I still couldn't finish my half. Lots of chip choices and even sides like pasta salad, macaroni salad, potato salad, and even pimento cheese. There are also lots of drink choices too. You order your sandwich at a counter from a sheet of paper with all the sandwich choices and leave it for the sandwich maker to make (on the day we visited, it was a sweet older lady) You take up your sandwich to check out and the lady behind the counter let us know that we could eat in, and where there was some tables. They also have some frozen soups, fresh meats, candy and baked goods."
"It's a little store but it has way more than you'd think. Also, great sandwich's, deserts and good people."
"I had no idea this store was here untik I happened to drive by the apartment area where the store is in and saw a sign with the name on it. I recognized the Tagalog term and eventually made my way back to visit. It's a small store, but filled with all the basics that I need to get my Filipina-fix on. There's pandesal, lumpia wrapper, sauces, veggies, etc! I was super happy. The owners are a family, I believe, and it was nice seeing them all there running the store and seeing their repeat customers come in. They have a stamp card as well, which is really nice and a great idea to keep customers coming back.Very clean and tidy too!"
"Uncle's Farm is the newest addition to the Newport News Korean Grocery scene. Warwick Blvd., in particular, has been the home to a number of them - past, present, and probably future, as well. It was an impromptu visit that worked out all the same. The strip mall is new as is Uncle's Farm. As I drove by, the name caught my eye. Initially, I wondered if it was a farmer's market of some kind, but after further review, there was no mistaking that it was a Korean grocery store - there were a number of pictures and Korean characters on the window that immediately give it away. The door was open just enough to give passers-by a peak inside, as well. The store is new and super clean. There are the ubiquitous Korean items - rice, kimchi, fresh veggies, and so on. I was in the market for rice and settled on a Korean Brand, Khee Chun; it was less than $13.00 - a bargain, in my opinion. Also, purchased a large bottle of Korean Citron Tea. It looks like marmalade, but a dollop mixed in hot water make a tasty hot drink. Of course, I plan to make some citron tea, but truth be known, it makes a mean mixed drink as well. For my Japanophiles, it's a Yuzu jam.For all of you who want to venture into Uncle's Farm, info is written mostly in Korean. I don't read Korean well, but know enough about Korean food and its preparation. The clerk/owner is very helpful and can help you with any questions you might have. Loved Uncle's Farm and hope to pay them another visit soon. I only wish they would have set up shop on the Southside."
"I would give 4.5 stars but no portion to do so. 1/2 star knocked off for not accepting CC. Cash or checks only. Great price for starter plants, lots of varieties on Heirloom tomatoes. $2.50 - $3.50 is practically half of other stores. You just have to bring CASH to pay."
"When I tell you I LOVE this farmers market...I mean I stalk the FB page to see when they will open back up for the season. The people here are so friendly. I have never seen a bad piece of produce here. The flowers are gorgeous and you honestly can't beat the prices. Most of the time I go with nothing in mind to get and walk out with so many things. Definitely give it a try!"
"When i need retail therapy but I'm ballin' on a budget i head to Kool Bins... Its off Little Creek Rd in a shopping center. Items are like $7 on Sat and Sun and the prices go down daily through Weds. When you walk in you grab a blue bag and you head to the bins to see what goodies you'll find... Its so much fun. You can't open the boxes but you can take them to the box station and the employees will open the boxes for you to see what inside. You never know what your gonna get. Could be a laptop, could be slip covers for the couch. The possibilities are endless. The best part is you already know what your gonna pay per item when you walk in. The staff and owner are very nice. Everytime i see the owner he's smiling and socializing with customers. The staff speaks very highly of him. He makes working there fun.. I joke with him and tell him I'm his future wife... Lol... But its a cool place to check out.. I lowkey don't want to tell everyone because this place is a hidden gem. Lol. Check them out!!!"
"Gourmet food in the hood! By far the best sandwiches I've ever eaten! And if you're hungry after eating one of these sandwiches, there's something wrong!"
"Ok so when it says neighborhood supermarket that is exactly what this place it the literal neighborhood spot You can get lottery tickets a six pack and THE BEST PHILLY CHEESE STEAK in Suffolk!!!! This sandwich was so moist so tender and juicy the bread was not chewy and the meat was flavorful we added pickles to add a lil crunch and this is big enough for two people easy surprisingly it only cost 8$ !!!!!! Add in some Arizona Grapeade and you have a bomb meal !!!!"
"This market is great. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the small space is packed to the gills with all the essentials if you are staying in a beach house nearby and need something. You can easily stock the shelves here with milks, eggs, essentials, foods, sunscreen, etc. I like that they have a sandwich counter where they make fresh sandwiches daily and you can grab them to go - including delicious pimento cheese and macaroni salads. Pro tip - if you arrive soon enough in the day you can have one made fresh for you with just the items on that you like. They also make fresh donuts daily which I haven't had bc they're always gone by the time I get here - but one day will be the day. I've heard they're amazing. Friendly enough staff inside and right across from the beach so the location is excellent."

I was surprised by all of the negative reviews of this Food Lion. It's the closest one to my house & I frequent it weekly. It's also right down from our gym, so it's super convenient. The staff is always super friendly to my boyfriend & I, even joking with us while in line. The shelves are always stocked & I've never had a problem finding anything. The other night my boyfriend was looking for queso & he said one of the employees walked around the entire store with him looking for it. Turns out they were out from the Super Bowl the night before, and it was back the next night we went in. I even went the night of the snowstorm, & though the lines were longer than normal I was out fairly quick. I definitely miss my old Shore Dr Food Lion with the make your own 6 pack & seafood, but this one does the trick for basic grocery shopping.

Great customer service. Best green link sausage. Grow their own collard greens and cabbage on site.

We were in Williamsburg, headed to Asheville when we learned of this café off the beaten path. The "hour in the wrong direction" detour was well worth the trouble. Winslow Goodier, the executive chef, is a hidden treasure. I'm not sure that even the locals know of his credentials, experience, and expertise. This is the type of dining experience you rarely find. We had the delicious crab cakes that Chef Goodier said were a recipe he acquired as a young man. All of the meats are locally sourced, and you get a five-star dining experience in a charming local mercantile that is a throwback to a more simple time. The store was full of wines, jams, homemade gifts, and various whimsical items. I can't recommend more highly making this a destination on your journey.

Filipino store tucked away in a nice little neighborhood. This is probably the most organized Asian store I've ever been too, checkout the products organized and lined up. A lot of Filipino varieties for such a small space. You will find most of the all time Pinoy favorites and essential cooking ingredients. I had to grab a bag of pandesal bread and saw balikbayan boxes for next time. I will definitely frequent this little Tindahan for all my cooking needs.

This was my first time here. It's clean and they are practicing covid safety practices (plexiglass at the counter and masks required to enter). It's organized and easy to navigate. You can find what you need and at a good price. I bought some side dishes (pickled daikon radish) however if it is someone's first time here and not knowing what certain items are, they would probably need to ask what an item is since it's not on the in-house price label. The cashier was friendly and overall though a short trip, it was successful. I will venture back.

A small highway stand they do offer various locally grown produce. Their selections always seem to be more than adequate. Several varieties of tomatoes are offered which one needs to produce stuffed tomatoes. Nice large tomatoes work well for this recipe. It's a nice neighborhood store that offers different products made by local artisans with their pickles, honey, jams, and the like. It's a big plus in my book for local vegetable freshness

All Good Things is the perfect example of a country produce stand. If you are driving along I-460 near Petersburg, you can't miss it. I wasn't planning on doing any shopping, but it looked so stink'n cute, that I had to pull over. In addition to the seasonal fruits and veggies, there were some other items available, such as jams, honey, bakery items and live flowers. The fruit that we did purchase was "berry" delicious! Don't do the "watermelon crawl" and "boot scoot" your way over to "All Good Things"!

"To write "surprised" would be an understatement. It was a Tuesday, so clearly, tacos were in order. No, not Taco Bell type stuff, but some authentic tacos. So, off I drove aimlessly in search of something to satiate my desire. Whoa... what is this, I thought, as I drove by this little place. In I swung. Confused I was as I walked in. It's a Mexican little market, if you will, with a restaurant counter in the back. As I approached the counter, it was deader than a door nail. I asked, is the restaurant still open? Yes, a girl kind of mumbled and nodded in response. English? Not so much. Food? Oh yeah! I was hungry, and in true fat man nature ordered more than I needed. A la cart, a taco. It was dry and lame... sorry, but it was, and it was nowhere near worth five bucks. However, the flautas (taquitos)? O. M. G! Amazing! Topped with fresh avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream and what I believe was Parmesan cheese. It was a huge portion, absolutely delicious, and despite the awkward language barrier? I am so going back for more of those. And, so should you if you're after something on the authentic side. Cheers!"
"This shop is great. It's small yet it is packed up to the rafters with everything one could need. I really enjoyed my shopping experience here in the early AM with few others in the store. The butcher and clerks were helpful and loaded me up with whatever I needed. I will definitely make the trip whenever I need something. No problem for me to drive a few extra minutes to this shop. You actually save time by coming here rather than stand in line at some big place like Walmart or COSTCO."
"K&T Food Mart is a small little mart off of Auburn that sells house fried chicken wings - we saw the sign while driving by and had to turn around to check them out!The mart itself has your basic groceries, specifically canned and packaged items; lots of snacks, desserts, and drink options. When you make your way past the cashier, there is a small little hot case that holds the wings and the super-sized western wedges.Let one of the employees know what you want to order - we opted for the 3 wings, no combo. The wings were a little more on the greasy side, but they were large, meaty, and were not overly salty at all. It was seasoned, but definitely much better dipping it into some hot sauce. There's a little Mountain Dew mini fridge next to the hot case that holds bottles of hot sauce and ketchup for your eats.Pay up at the cashier - staff are super friendly and welcoming!Plenty of parking in the plaza lot.+housefried wings+friendly staff+plenty of parking in the plaza lot"
"I went to Thee Soulfood Kitchen inside the grocery store. The servers and cashier were nice. It was a busy time during lunch. So i ordered the 8pcs fried chicken with mac n cheese and rolls and a whiting fish dinner with greens and potato salad. I went to check out the grocery store while i waited for my fish to cook. Some items are already done, but fish and pork chops are made to order. So it was a 10 minute wait. The store is well stocked but they are still working on certain areas. They had apple juices that were different apple flavors like fuji, honey crisp, pink lady, and etc. So i grabbed a bunch of those. They also had a ethnic section with Caribbean food, curry, fufu, and etc. The freezer section had a nice selection also. There was a bunch of clearance items in the front also. The prices are reasonable. So i got my food and left. When i got home my car was ranking!! It was the fish. I've never smelled anything like it. So i tasted a piece and it was a heck no for me... It wasn't seasoned and it tasted sour. I don't think I'll get seafood again from there. The chicken mac n cheese and greens were ok. It just wasn't enough flavor. The mac was cheesy. The chicken was very crispy, but you have to eat it fresh because it gets soggy after sitting. The potato salad was pretty good. I will probably return for the turkey wings. They looked good. The store was clean so I'd return to shop there also. Besides the fish it was an ok trip.. 3.5 stars..."
"I noticed this Food Lion location has no reviews so I thought I would whip one out since I shop here occasionally. The location is pretty convenient at the busy intersection of South Military Highway and Indian River Road in Virginia Beach. This Food Lion is located in the Indian River Shopping Center which it shares with Burlington Coat Factory, Walgreens and a couple smaller retailers. The reasonably well-kept private parking lot is huge so there is never an issue with parking except for the the occasional clutter of shopping carts that are sometimes scattered around the lot by careless and thoughtless customers. Access in and out of the shopping center is pretty easy with one entry/exit on Indian River and one entry/exit with a traffic light on Indian River. This is an ordinary cookie cutter Food Lion store with the same layout as so many other stores in the chain. This is not necessarily a bad thing since if something works you may as well keep using it. This is a complete full-service supermarket where you can find most everything you need when doing your regular grocery shopping. They have full-service meat, seafood, deli and bakery departments as well as all the usual canned and dry goods, cleaning supplies, pet items, produce, dairy sections, etc... A good selection of national and store brands are available in most areas. They also have the usual customer service desk which may or may not be staffed at any given time. The store is always clean and employees are generally polite and professional though you can expect lengthy waits at checkout during peak times. There are no self-checkout kiosks in the store. There are public restrooms available.Produce here is really nice and displayed well, fruits and vegetables are of good quality. Meat and seafood are also of good quality though I find it frustrating that when a meat or seafood item is on sale at a great price there seems to always be a very limited supply, frequently an advertised sale item is not available. Prices at Food Lion are mostly a little less than some of their competition (Farm Fresh, Kroger, Harris Teeter) but higher than others (ALDI, Lidl, Walmart). Overall this Food Lion is a good place to do your regular grocery shopping especially if you aren't terribly price conscious. Honestly though, I don't shop here nearly as often since Lidl opened a store less than a mile up the road and ALDI has locations nearly as close to me."
"Nothing much beyond what you'd expect. It's a typical oriental grocery store. Fairly small, but had the snacks I was looking for. When I was there they did have a minimum charge requirement for credit cards ($10 or $15, I think?) that I fell just under, so I had to pick up an additional item, but there were plenty of cheap and interesting options to choose from so this wasn't an issue."
"I stopped in to get a state inspection for my vehicle. Seeing my car was full of gear, clothing, military uniforms and other items needed when assigned to a ship. The team took it upon themselves to inspect my vehicle free of charge because they could see I had just driven in from California. Excellent support for the military."
""Wink wink, nudge nudge, tell me do you like the rude stuff"(Spice Girls)Wee Winks is a very nice little convenience store in downtown Duck, NC.The shelves are stocked with all of your convenience store essential groceries, a bakery, and you'll also see a showcase with pre-made sandwiches and a full deli counter. We wanted to get two sandwiches made to have dinner at a brewery, but when we arrived, we learned that they were through making sandwiches for the day. Instead, we checked out some of their pre-made sandwiches (made earlier in the day) and left with a turkey and cheese sandwich ($10.99) and an Italian sandwich ($11.99). We charged the food and were assessed a $0.57 "Technology Fee". I thought the sandwiches were very uneven, to the point that the turkey sub was a rip-off. It had very little turkey and cheese but had a big proportion of bread. Check out my photo and see if you agree. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/wee-winks-market-and-deli-duck?select=wYM1Ynb1m3mfyLCgLwHktAOn the other hand, my Italian grinder was great and had a ton of meat in there.I'm sure that during the season, this place is slammed busy."
"Sometimes I have to remember where I came from. I haven't been to a Food Lion in a veryyy long time but on New Years Eve I made a quick morning run to this location. It was empty and I needed some Velveeta cheese so I could make my Award winning mac n cheese. Found the cheese area and voila Velveeta galore. The store was clean and the staff was helpful. On my way to the register i saw that had a self checkout area and I was like "oh yes!" I live for self checkout. I miss coming into Food Lion and scanning my MVP card and watching my total drop. I'll be back food lion.. I'll be back."
"First of all, I was surprised that there is a Piggly Wiggly in the area after living here for many years. The parking lot has some issues when you're maneuvering and others don't respect the flow of traffic. When the store has trucks out front for their bulk sales, you could easily find your vehicle wedged in due to poor parking practices. The lot is in need of resurfacing and when you encounter traffic when exiting.Upon entry to the store, the deli/hot bar area is on the left. When patrons line up to order it creates a bottleneck for those walking in. you have to leave a gap for folks to come in. The ladies who work the deli and hot bar are nice and make an effort to connect and answer your questions. Items for the lunch special rotate and its encouraged to call if you're hankering for a particular item. After getting your items from the deli / hot bar you have to go stand in line and pay as there's no designated cashier for this particular area. The cashiers work fast to get you in and out. Store seems crowded and it does get congested with those seeking the affordable breakfast and lunch options and during bulk sales. The food I purchased was decent. Be forewarned that some of the veggies could be canned. A positive experience and I would revisit the store, hot bar and deli options when in the area."
"I don't usually come to this Kroger simply because it's a bit further than I want to drive. I usually go to the smaller Kroger close to my house but I needed some specific items the Kroger on S Battlefield didn't have so I had to go to this one. They had pumpernickel and sourdough round loaves that I needed. They always have such a huge selection of inventory. They also have fresh sushi rolls. They also have a lot of parking spaces. Kroger is always very reasonable with their prices. The cashiers are usually nicer than most so that's a plus."
"Out of the way, hole in the wall, bodega style home of awesomeness! Price point is good and they deliver a quality product. Growing up up north I'm used to the local sandwich shop being a hub of the neighborhood. The Italian sub all the way was my choice sub...so big it was two meals. Tons of meat and cheese toasted. Don't pass up on the chance for good eating."
"The food was absolutely amazeballs! We had carryout, a friend dropped by and brought dinner. Steamed shrimp and caesar salads. Oh my goodness the caesar dressing was the best and the salad was fresh. The shrimp, were perfectly seasoned and very tasty, and HUGE. Thank You friend!"
"Their breakfast and lunch food they make in the back is awesome! Reasonably priced and huge portions. Don't let the outside appearance scare you it's well worth the time to stop in and grab some of their food! Plus.... they have rip its..."
"This food is always good. My office orders from here pretty regularly and I have yet to hear them complain. There's always at least one dissatisfied person when we order from anywhere else, but never from this place. Plus, the service is always top notch."
"Green tea & musk melon ice cream. Instant ramen everything. Bento boxes so cute you don't want to use them... Walking in here took me back to when I was in Japan, except I was in Yorktown, not Tokyo.Apart from the awesome Japanese food selection available, amongst the spices and sauces, you'll find kawaii charms, jewelry, candy, wasabi chips, matcha everything, comics, cookbooks, chopsticks, sake giftware, tea sets, ceramic pots &tea cups, Japanese incense, stationary, cards - the list really could go on!I love the ceremonial grade matcha from here - I'd much rather spend $10 for the real thing than half the size for $30 from Whole Foods...it's a no brainer guys! I urge you to visit this place if you haven't already and if Japan is one of the loves of your life.Exceptional fish for sale for you sushi sashimi fanatics, and the owner is more than happy to help and cater towards your needs. A more authentic selection than any superstore I've seen so far claiming they have authentic Japanese items."
"I was along for the ride! My friend wanted to see if they carried strawberry butter, unfortunately they do not. But she purchased a jar of caramel apple butter which sounded absolutely delicious and another jar of something else. They only accept cash or local checks. We strolled through a beautiful array of red, yellow and orange mums which were sold at rather good prices. There were some fresh produce which were in a good state. Staff/owners were friendly and greeted us with smiles, but allowed us to browse at our leisure. Their back wall has a nice array of preserves. What I did find helpful and convenient were the prices of the pumpkins were nicely placed in view on the pumpkin itself. While not a large farmer's market, it holds it's own."
"Perfectly ordinary grocery store with reasonable prices and an okay produce section. I wasn't doing a full shop but I was able to pick up a few bits with relative ease. Shelves were stocked nicely and the check-out was prompt enough I have no complaints. It may be that they've picked up their game since they share this plaza with a really good Harris Teeter."
"Love the concept of this place. The staff is hit or miss, either very helpful or not which does not bother me much. Nice selection of vegan options in store and the ability to place orders on-line and pick them up in store. The online option is nice but too much of a hassle for me so far to sign up. They should be able to set you up for online orders in the store. Decent amount of vegan products here. I purchase the vegan cheddar Teese, and whipped up some mac'n'teese that night (which I really liked). The product that I purchased from the store was reasonable in price. I like!!"
"Royal Bazaar is specialty grocery store concentrating in Indian and Asian foods. They carry a wide variety of fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits as well as countless spices and flours. The quality of their produce is excellent, everything appears very fresh. There is a large selection of basamati rices as well as many canned and dry goods. Refrigerated and frozen items are also stocked. Royal Bazaar has pretty much everything one could need in Indian groceries and the prices are very fair. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Employees are knowledgeable and able to answer your questions. The store is a little larger than many other Asian grocery stores in this area. I appreciate the wide aisles that enable easy navigation as you shop. The store appears clean, neat and orderly. The shelves and bins are well stocked with inventory. COVID-19 protocols are in place and followed. Royal Bazaar is conveniently located in Best Square Shopping Center on North Military HIghway in Norfolk. The large parking lot shared with the rest of the businesses is very spacious so you will never have an issue finding a parking spot. This area often experiences heavy traffic but with multiple access points and traffic lights, entering or exiting the property is easy in any direction. My wife and I just recently discovered this store and I am so happy we did. If you are interested in cooking Indian food, this store has everything you need. If you aren't interested in Indian food I still recommend Royal Bazaar for their great selection of high quality produce at good prices."
"Absolutely love the Fried Crabs. I could eat them everyday. The best crab egg rolls too. Cash and EBT only"
"A nice little local grocery store with some very friendly people that work there. We have stopped here a time or two for a few things. Now this is not a huge store but they got you covered on your groceries. I didn't get any pictures on the inside but will soon. The produce sections looks like everything is local which is cool. All the aisles were well stocked but one thing I haven't check out before is the meat section. But if it is anything like the rest of the place it should great. The reason for this stop is to pickup some ice cream for my granddaughter. But my next stop I will explore the place in more depth and with photos."
"The Harris Teeter on Volvo Parkway and Kempsville Road has deli specials daily... as they all do. I must admit the fried chicken is noticeably better when a lady named Khadijah is cooking. When she's not cooking there are white spots that look like raw flour on the chicken and the flavor is off. I can't explain it but she knows her stuff! They offer fried chicken on sale once a week and the next day might be a baked 8 piece instead of a fried 8 piece. The next day it might be a rotisserie chicken on sale. Sometimes all 3 are on sale. The sale is usually $2 or $3 cheaper. The sale price is usually $4.99. I've had the same fried chicken at the Harris Teeter on Virginia Beach Blvd. and it wasn't as good. I've also had it at the Harris Teeter on South Plaza Trail. When Khadijah is cooking the one on Volvo Parkway and Kempsville Road wins the flavor competition hands down! She makes the skin with just the right amount of crispiness and the chicken is moist. I can't understand how it appears hers tastes so much better as far as the seasoning unless it's just that she changed her oil more frequently. That will definitely improve the flavor!"
