"When we arrived to this campground there was a line to the road so we parked in line and my boyfriend came to my vehicle to sit with my sleeping children while I went to check in. While in line to check in the owner of the campground came in and was really rude and had an all around nasty disposition and was fussing about where our camper was even though it was parked there because that was the only place to park it upon arrival. The employee running the counter then refused to check me in until we moved our camper. The rates online are advertised as $194 a week with taxes included in that price but they charged me $220.25, they don't have a real petting farm and the employee doesn't know why they still advertise as having one, when you drive into the back of the park there are a lot of old, poorly maintained trailers that I'm assuming the people live here long term, there's no WiFi in the park, and the park is poorly kept. I wish I would have toured the park before paying. There are a lot of run down, dirty campers. There is a gate with a gate code and they said they have security which is good and the girl at the counter ended up being really nice but the owner still was not."
"This was my first time at the Cavalier and I was darn impressed. I am not a member of this club and was a guest for an event. This review is for the pool only.Getting to the club is a cinch. Make your turn off Laskin on Cardinal Rd. The beautiful Birdneck Point neighborhood is well marked where you enter. The two mile, or so drive through the residential area to the Cavalier was very nice. Tall pines afforded shade to the area homes and golf course. The speed limit is 20 mph due to golf cart traffic. When I traveled down Cardinal Rd. it was in conjunction with several golf carts. The pool is on the left by the tennis courts. The main club is further down on the right. There is plenty of parking all around the pool. Upon exiting the car everything appeared top notch and well maintained. It was a gorgeous evening for my event event around the pool.Everything about the pool and deck was sweet. Lots of wide deck space with chairs and tables. A ping pong table poolside is a nice touch for a little recreation outside of the pool. There is also a small baby pool that is approximately one foot.Let's talk about this fantastic main pool. The water was sparkling blue and inviting to jump in on a warm night. It's rectangular in shape with no bump outs. Two one meter spring boards for diving are side by side at the deep end. For competition it's a six lane 25 meter course.Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club has a swim team that compete in the Virginia Beach Swim League Porpoise Division and swims as the "Sharks". I met the Head Coach of the team Dalton who is also the pools aquatic director. He was a nice young kid finishing up his undergrad work.I cannot comment on anything other than the pool, but most certainly the entire property has beautifully manicured grounds. I am unsure if I will be coming back here this Summer, but I would love to be invited back."
"Yaaaaassss to great lunch here! Locals know this is the best place to go! What a great and friendly server, and the food is hot and fresh! Don't be in a hurry, because everything really is made to order. And those Waffle Fries...dang, y'all! A local merchant told me their office has lunch here frequently you, and they've had to swear off the waffle fries because they're too addictive! That's a compliment :-))"
"This golf course is in great condition especially since it's December. As you can expect the only that on the golf course that is green are the greens. Everything else resembles the fall/winter color change. Still, this place is in excellent condition. I've always particularly liked this course. The greens were a little slow Saturday but not one time did anyone in my group complain about how the greens were rolling...always a good sign. Keep the condition like this throughout the cold months and the summer of 2013 will sure be fun!"
"Played both courses this week and absolutely love the Yorktown course. Jamestown (Nicklaus) course is ok, but Yorktown would be my choice always! Beautiful course, great shape! Green a little slow, but loved it! Food was very good and prices reasonable in the Nicklaus Grill. Staff was a+, start to finish!"
"Wow. This place is soooo cool. I used the driving range a few years ago and chipped and putt at their practice facility once. I've never played the course until today. It's an absolute hidden gem and I get to play for only $15 as part of my membership with the Hampton Roads Golf Club. Here you go:*Clubhouse - nothing special. I don't hang out at a golf course so this part doesn't really matter.*Practice facility - there's a separate chipping and putting green. Both roll great with a good amount of undulation.*Driving range - there's an upper and lower deck. You have to hit off mats. Irons only on the top deck. Great view from the top deck.*Course - It's a nine hole golf course that is VERY challenging. Lots of blind spots. The greens have a ton of undulation. There are great views on just about every hole.I can't wait to go back because playing a course like this will certainly help improve your game."
"Not bad for the price. The course is set up a little weird, but overall had a great time with my boyfriend hitting 18 holes. I'd recommend coming if you're a beginner."
"I'm no professional but I found this course to be the best I've played in the Commonwealth so far. The course expectably maintained and incredibly serene with bridges and winding cart paths designed to surreptitiously moves you from one hole to another. Very little housing development along the fairways coupled turns taking you from one to another makes it incredibly quiet and relaxing. Ranges: Unfortunately, I was there as part of the staff for our tournament as well as play in it...so having to help work the check-in I never had a chance to make it to the ranges so I cannot make a comment at this point and time.Fairways: These Fairway's are some of the best I've seen. Extremely well maintained and designed. If you're a scratch golfer that can hit it off the tee 250yds or more you'll enjoy this course. Most of the holes have a challenging turn, hazards or slopes with many of them having all 3. Drops from the tee box on the shorter par 3's and well-placed bunkers around the green make every hole a challenging one. The thick tall vegetation and forest surrounding the fairways is both beautiful and unforgiving for balls that took a wayward flight off the fairway. All that said, I felt like the peacefulness of the course made us play above our norms. Greens: Varied in size, slope and bunkers making everyone of them requiring a carefully placed shot. However, being impeccably cared green makes it easier to deal with the one that got away or was sucked into the sand trap by mysterious wind vacuums I seem to always encounter.Service: After reading a review from a trusted Yelper and expert golfer I was a little hesitant on having Viniterra host our tournament but I think they took his Yelp to heart because it was a complete 180 from his experience, which tells me Yelp works for patrons, business owners and staff. Admittedly, there's a difference in the customer service from the winery next door, which was outstanding, and the golf course...but not too much. The golf staff was all friendly, helpful and encouraging on our return the following year. They helped us set up our tables, had a solid pre tournament review of the rules and send off, and got everything set for post event activities while we played the course. To answer their question...yes we will definitely be going back next year. Overall: I loved this course and its tranquil surroundings. Despite my not having the opportunity to rate the ranges (driving, putting and chipping/sand) I'm going out on a limb and giving them 5 Stars. That said, I look forward to returning for another game and reviewing them then."
"Would definitely rate this over battlefield golf club. Very reasonably priced, solid carts, nice driving range/practice area. Course grounds regularly seem well groomed and taken care of. Pro shop is well stocked and they have a nice little food area connected in the main club house. It is surrounded by homes so that's to be considered if you have a wicked slice. It's a decent course even for those with potentially not as much golfing experience and looking to get into the sport or just take on a new hobby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it during the week as the many times I've gone during the week, it hasn't been packed and we've been able to play at a leisurely pace."
"I only used the driving range, practice green and pro-shop. They have a good pro-shop and restaurant. We had to wait 30 minutes for driving range balls. Apparently there was a mechanical issue with the ball collecting machine. The driving range did not use the turf ties. They used the grass areas. That is ok but the ground gets chewed up. They have cold water and paper cups at the driving range. It was hot without sun shelter except for the trees on the side. Large bucket only $11."
"Apparently, this used to be a really nice place when the Busch family ran it but now that they don't, it's not the same.Big shout out to Emily at the front desk, she and she alone showed great customer care and service. Not so much with the rest of the staff or the "resort."The room was off in a condo complex-looking place....and complex is a good way to name it because it's not easy to find your room and it's not very walkable. When I checked in, I was offered a ride in the van to my room. The driver didn't even greet me, carry my bags, or open the door to the van. When he dropped me off, he pointed to my room. Not customer service-minded at all. He missed out on a nice tip. The room is very similar to what you'd find at a Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn, but there is no microwave. My phone didn't work and there was zero cell reception. I mean zero. I had to communicate through text and wifi apps. It didn't make me feel very safe in case of an emergency. That's for sure. I was at the mercy of their wifi which kept disconnecting. The refrigerator was so loud I had to unplug it so I could sleep. Otherwise, the room was clean. Nothing fancy, but adequate. They did send a text asking if I needed anything, but they took over an hour to respond to it and weren't able to help anyway because the person who could fix my phone had already left for the day. I'll have to put this on the management. They need to train their staff better. They should consider hiring a consultant to train them in good customer service skills. I have no idea how this place has a four-star rating. It must be from days of old."
"One of the best kept courses in Tidewater. Even when I played this course in January in the freezing ass cold this course was in great shape. Six months later with warm weather and green grass all over anyone can enjoy this course. It's a great layout that is challenging yet not terribly hard. The greens roll absolutely perfect. Not one time during our tournament round did anyone complain about a bump in the green.Hole #9 is my favorite as your approach shot has to travel over water. It makes for a nice view. Since it is in NC you can expect the wind to really blow on this course.I forgot my golf shoes back in VA and was able to pick up a pair in the clubhouse without any hassle. For a golf course they had a decent shoe selection. They do have a restaurant on the golf course called Tucker's. It's a bar with several seats to fit foursomes who want a food and a beer after a fun round. It looks like my golf tour will return to this course next year. I shot 74 and won my flight!"

This place is pretty cool for the non-camping person like myself. My family rented a small camper just for a weekend to try this place out. When you first drive in there are a bunch of horses on each side of the street, which was really cool. They're nice enough to walk up to the fence so you can pet them. As you drive further back you pass the lot where people pay to store all their campers, and past all of that are the spots for people who are there to camp. The campground itself has two pools, a workout space, pony rides, golf cart and bike rental, volleyball nets, small playgrounds, laundry facilities, bathrooms, a small chapel, and covered picnic areas with tables. As far as I could see each campsite had a small area designated for a camp fire, and there are outside grills spread throughout. All in all, it was a fun trip, but the grass around the playground in the back didn't get cut until the evening before we left, which was unfortunate because we had small children who wanted to play and the bugs were terrible. The price was decent to rent the space and the workers all seemed nice!

The Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club is a lovely venue for any kind of special event. I've attended a company holiday party with 500 guests at the club, as well as a wedding shower for 35 guests. I've also attended a business conference at Cavalier. The club is located on Linkhorn Bay and each room has lots of windows with beautiful views. There is also space outside on the green, ideal for hosting weddings or cocktail parties. I know a couple who got married on the golf course and their photos with all the scenery were amazing. The catering is really top notch as well. The servers are very attentive and the food is always nicely done and delicious.

Food was really good. Took forever though. Should not take 30+ min to make a sandwich. Also, we're out of several items on the menu. Did not have unsweetened tea. But the waitress made some. A little pricy but was good. I'd go back and give them another chance.

Golf is my new thing. I got some golf clubs and shoes for Christmas. My clubs are in a super cute purple and black bag. I've played twice before - once here and the other time at a range out close to Smithfield. I'd like to step my game up and actually hit the ball more than I ruin the green.Getting to the point, Riverfront is a beautiful course. I'm somewhat afraid of hitting a house from the course......eh, who am I kidding, I can't hit the ball that hard and far anyway ;). I've been to the driving range once, on our second visit, they were closed. Bummer. I do like that you drive off the grass and not mats. Lastly, this might be common sense to the golf pros out there, but its important to note that you have to have a collared shirt and cannot wear jeans on the driving range.

The Jamestown course was closed for renovation. The Yorktown course was in rough shape. Starter explained that it was under new ownership and that the previous owner did not do proper up keep. He was hopeful that by next year the course would be back in good shape. So I will hold off until next year and maybe try it again.

Another one of Merv Troyer's Hampton Roads Golf courses. This course is secretively tucked behind the campus of Old Dominion University. If you didn't know it was there you would think you were parking at a campus building. I don't say this often, so get ready...this course rocks! Let me tell you why I am a fan. #1 The views are just amazing. I am not sure how they managed to fit nine holes of golf on such a thin strip of land but I am glad that they did. #2 The range is actually really nice. This is a rarity in this area, the one major drawback is the artificial mats. The upper deck is kinda cool though.#3 The chipping/putting green is big and has a range of different shots/putts what a great way to unwind after class or work. #4 The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I have been here several times to just chip and putt which the course makes no money on. Since they are so friendly, I usually buy a soda because I feel bad!#5 The rates are great for a challenging course that is nothing like anything else you'll experience in the area!Nice Course! Keep and open mind and give it a try!

I've golfed here since I was a kid, I enjoy the lay out of the course, greens were nice and fairways were decent, bunkers were full of water despite it having not rained in a week, but the staff has never been friendly or helpful and are often rude, even when I got lessons here as a gift I did one and stopped because the pro just wasn't friendly. It's sad this course has a lot of potential and the practice area is nice, but just have to get past the staff first.

Enjoyed a beautiful day on the golf course with my buddy yesterday. I was able to use my gift card I received from my girlfriend. Super easy process and the staff were very friendly and informative about the course. It was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. The tips were lonnnnng, the blues were lonnnnng and the greens (what we played) were still a tad long and challenging but overall I really enjoyed the challenge. Just frustrating at times! I loved all the different tee options too. Great conditions. The greens were under maintenance, so a little bumpy but they actually played really well considering the conditions. I make sure you book online. They have great deals at great times!

"4 stars for the Hornet course. 2 stars for the Tomcat course.Bring lots of bug spray. Mosquitos will crush the crap out of you out there. Both courses are challenging enough. The Tomcat has tight fairways and small greens. The Hornet course has more character and plays a bit longer. They just installed new greens. Give them another year or so and the greens will be good to go!The star of this place is the clubhouse. Food is cheap. The pro shop has a very strong selection of clubs, bags and shoes. It's a military course so if you're not in the military be sure to play with someone who is. Park at the commissary and ride in with your military buddy!"
"Beautiful country club tucked away in a quiet part of Williamsburg. The country club is very nice and the food has always been exceptional each time I have gone. We have even ordered food for some of our holidays."
"I don't get out this way often enough but when I do, and there's time, I really enjoy hitting the links at Suffolk Golf Course. I like in Chesapeake so it's an easy drive over there from my house. The course is in great shape and this place is extremely well maintained and managed. I've seen issues handled before they become issues. The starters and rangers are all on top of things. This makes for a very pleasant experience."
"What a great place to take two young teens for their first real golf experience (beyond Top Golf)! Great Par 3 course to either teach new golfers or to practice your short game of irons, chipping, and putting. I've also never been to a Par 3 and had no idea you can see the whole thing in one area, and it's all walking because it's so compact. Learn something new every day. ;-)Thought we'd need tee times, but we're told they're never that busy and to just come on over any time. Really great first experience, and we will definitely be back. Oh! Did I mention it was only $26 for 3 adults, 2 teens, and a bag cart rental?? Can't get that kind of 1.5 hour entertainment anywhere for that awesome price!"
"I had never actually been on a golf course until I went to visit Bide-A-Wee a few weeks ago and I had an absolute blast. I basically just rode around on a golf cart all day, but that's not the point now is it... This was a really pretty golf course complete with a little bridge over water and lots of ducks. So basically what I'm saying is, no I did not actually golf at Bide-A-Wee but I definitely rode around enough to see what a nice golf course it is. They also have a little cafe/restaurant area that serves hot and cold food. I don't think I'd make much of a golfer, but I'd certainly hang out and ride around Bide-A-Wee any day."
"Don't be fooled by this golf course. Just because it measures only 5,400 yards doesn't mean you're going to light up the scorecard. You still have to hit the shots and if you try to be aggressive with a lot of these short holes you'll end up making a big number. A few things to note.- Some of these greens are big. You short side yourself on a putt and you can have a 50 footer... a possible three putt.- When possible, go for the iron or fairway metal off the tee. Just like any golf course, best to keep the ball in play. - You can play for less than $35 with cart. That's a good price. One thing to note is that this course is in great condition during the summer. Home to the Hampton Amateur that gathers some of the best talents in the area, they do a good job of getting this course in good shape for the tournament. For the average golfer, you benefit from a nice course in preparation for something bigger than just regular play.Definitely a fun course to play that can test your true skill despite being a course 10-20% shorter than most courses in the area."
"Woohoo! As good as it gets! Read our review guidelinesGreat Course! Friendly Staff and membership hosts a variety of events for members and has delicious food. There is never a backup on this course, meaning rounds don't last forever, like some other course around town. Highly recommend! Great variety of holes, and well-maintained practice area."
"Not a bad course. Nice staff. Hopefully the fairways will become green in the summer. It was all gray grass except the putting green. Reasonable price. Short course 5844 yds with par 70."
"Yes, there is a graveyard in the middle of the course, and yes, the restroom is just outside of the 'clubhouse/check-in desk'. But, I am returning for another round of 18 holes. I was eager to try out a few courses during our vacation in the OBX. Since we had the space in our rental minivan, I had the opportunity to pack up my clubs. The location is just across the bridge from the OBX entrance, about 15 miles north of Kitty Hawk. They have an online reservation system but on a Monday morning, I had the flexibility to walk-on the course. For a mere $49, my fee included 18 holes and a cart. I'd say the course is on 'par' with some of the FFX Cty courses. There were a few others golfing early in the morning. With the ease of a cart and the semi-privacy of my lone golfing, I cracked the course in just over 2 hours."
"My husband and I just got married at the Currituck Club & it is a beautiful venue. Ceremony right on the sound, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful & their food is phenomenal. Cannot thank them enough for all of the effort that was put into making our big day perfect!"
"This was a nice little golf course. I played here with some family in a church tournament. The head pro gave a little speech before play started and was very personable towards everyone. The course was in pretty decent shape considering how little rain had fallen in the weeks leading up to the tournament. I for one really enjoyed the course layout. There were 450 yard long straight holes, dog-leg right, dog-leg left, and long par 3's. Just a really nice variety of golf holes.I'd definitely recommend playing here if you've got a free morning or afternoon to swing a bit."
"Loved Turf's Up! We have been coming to OBX from Las Vegas for 15+ years and we are always in search of new places to check out. We saw Turf's up a few years ago and said we'd make it a point to visit on a rainy day. Today we spent an hour there and wish we'd booked more. It's so much fun! Our two kids (10 and 12) loved it. It's a great facility with every game you can imagine from golf to baseball, hockey to basketball. There's even a bar. Karen was extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back. If you're in town and looking for a fun and unique way to spend some time, check out Turf's Up!"
"Everyone has a bad day and I'm sure that starter doesn't even work there anymore. I'm willing to give it a second chance."
"Beautiful private golf course conveniently located in VIrginia Beach. The course is wonderfully designed and meticulously maintained. Additionally, there are two practice ranges."
"We had a morning tee time (8) for 9 holes since it was forecasted to be a hot one. Good decision. They were starting everyone on the back 9. See where the course name came from as they actually have Bee Hives (Holes 15-18 but we didn't see any Bees.)Course is in good shape with a good amount of trees, not too much water and next to a residential area for some of the holes. We rented a couple of sets of clubs that were in ok shape. Putting Greens were a good size and I saw a driving range. Three of us and we were paired with another person which worked out well. They have a Grill serving sandwiches, Burgers and a few small plates.Attendant was friendly. About 25 minutes from the Beach (34th). Another good Golf option at the beach."
"The golf course displayed a mix of well-maintained areas and some that appeared to require attention. The staff was notably courteous and accommodating. Being in close proximity to houses offers convenience for residents, but it also calls for diligent management to ensure minimal disruptions for golf players."
"Love the first tee program offered at this location. Coach Chris is really good with the children and he continues to dedicate 100 percent to developing good sporting ethics. Highly recommended program and enjoyed watching him do his work. There are different programs depending on skill level for the kids. First tee is for beginners."
"My husband and I wanted to try this mini golf course since the moment we drove past it. We liked that it was different from most mini golf courses in that it was a true grass course; mimicking true golf course conditions. There are 18 holes on the course and 2 bonus holes at the very end. They had a separate bucket of diluted bleach water to place used golf balls and putters when done playing. I appreciated seeing this effort during the Covid pandemic. Check this place out if you want to try something different from typical mini golf courses."
"Service and food are amazing!! The prices are reasonable and the food options are great. Cocktails are pretty darn good too! I will definitely be back. The atmosphere is beautiful nestled in the green golf course and lush trees."
"I have not golfed here - but I did attend a private event under the pavilion and found it to have a charming entrance framed and canopied by blossoming crepe myrtle trees, plenty of parking, a nice pro shop, a beautiful wooded well-kept pavilion, friendly staff, a well manicured golf course and a southern plantation charm about the main building. It was beautiful and I was pleasantly surprised."
"Nice course. Greens were not in the best of shape and the sand was wet and wasn't really good sad (must have rained the day before though). Some pretty holes. It looked tight but wasn't bad. Of our 3some, one rated it a 3 and two of us rated it a 3.5. Therefore I am giving it a 3 since I can't do 1/2 stars."
"This review is for the pool only. The club participates in Virginia Beach Swim League in the Summer and is home to the Barracudas. Broad Bay is mainly known for it's beautiful golf course, but the pool with recent enhancements is just what they needed. BB does offer tennis too.Broad Bay Country Club is located off of Great Neck Rd. across from Cox H.S. It can get confusing finding the pool from the main entrance which is Stonehaven. Turn onto Lords Landing from Great Neck (may need to pull a u-turn if approaching from the North) and make a right at the wooden BB sign and drive up the hill. Parking is just past the pool and pretty plentiful even on swim meet days. The pool is six lanes 25 meters and is rectangular with no bump outs for diving etc . Deck space is limited. A wooden arbor area on the road side allows for limited seating and has a baby pool. Depth at the shallow end is approximately 3.5 ft and deep end 7 ft.A new large area opposite the road had a new slab put in to level a previous space off. It now boast a large canopy over the entire space and is used for events as well as seating for swim meets. It nicely done with hanging chandeliers and fire pit.. Also a new wooden structure was recently built outside the pool to post results and put up fliers of all sorts for the club. The pool sets on beautiful real estate right off the golf course. I have always found the grounds surrounding the pool to be well maintained. If you are a member of the club this is really a great space for a family to enjoy. I am not a member of this club, but from my four years of helping around this pool I would recommend checking them out for membership."
"The service was impeccable..from our servers to the management. Thank You The food was above average, and drinks were very good. I had an old fashion, req'd woodford double oak, which they did not have on hand. So the manager, drove off and fetched some Woodford double oaked. Sorry no food pics er"
