Even though, he was a 1 man show, he managed to feed over 50 people in less than 1.5 hours and the food was still hot and delicious. We will definitely do business with this food truck again!"

Curiosity made me stop. The food was AWESOME and I was looking for it around town when I stopped seeing the truck parked on Armistead. I saw it again at a festival at Buckroe Beach and made a point to stop there. Then I heard they were located at lunch time at the Net Center in Newmarket. Visited them there as well. Saw the truck on the road just the other day, first time in a long time, so I guess they are still in business somewhere..."

Kaytee C. "We were at the event that the food truck came to today, I understand under certain circumstances they were the only truck to be there taking orders but for the event to be as slow as it was waiting over an hour for just fries is insane. When I walked back to make sure my buzzer was working (since other people were having problems) I'm assuming the wife was very rude and seeming like my question was an inconvenience for her, yet she was doing absolutely nothing but sitting there. I felt bad for the man working, I will say he was working his tail off trying to get the orders through with no help!"

Amy M. "The hubs and I were in the Williamsburg area in search of a cold sweet treat. We've gotten accustomed to shaved ice on the islands, but on the mainland the ice is more coarse. Thankfully yelp helped us locate this local shop offering snow cones to cool off on this hot humid day. They have a small parking lot, but don't be discouraged the turnover rate is high as customers brought their treats into their cars and left. There is a plethora of flavors to choose from. I was trying to be somewhat mindful of calories, so I chose the sugar free dreamsicle. Vanilla and orange flavors mixed sounded like a dream:) The hubs ordered the spongebob which included mango, lemon-lime, and lemonade. But then we both saw the sign of ultimate "stuffed" snowball. :::eyes widened::: Calories went out the door, and I ordered mine stuffed while his was ultimate stuffed lol. The difference was condensed milk and marshmallow fluff in the bottom. We both had the ice cream in the center of our snowball and a soft serve on top. Ingenious concept and it was very refreshing. I ordered a regular stuffed and they were very generous to fill it to the top, to the point of adding an additional cup to support all the cold juices. This is worth checking out and great for the little ones. Support local!"

Taylor J. "We have been huge fans of Sour Street since we first tried it at Cova over 3 years ago. I still remember being so excited when I heard about the new food truck that did not only wood-fired pizza, but also sourdough crust! Sour Street has been one of my favorite parts of living in Ocean View - so when we were finally able to make it out to their new brick and mortar- we were super excited. Not only is it somehow the same exact vibe as their food truck, it's also... better! It encapsulates the dark and edgy alternative vibe, but it fits well in clean, pristine East Beach. Walking in, we were immediately greeted by the hostess and ordered our pizza. The restaurant is truly a well-oiled machine; which is impressive as a newly owned place working through a Saturday lunch rush. There will always be a wait because each pizza is handmade and wood-fired. Keep that in mind, but I promise it's 100% worth it. The pizza? Just as good as I remembered it. Includes all the goodness of when it was a food truck. We got the pepperoni pizza with a hot honey drizzle - highly recommend trying it out. :) So excited to see what is in store for Sour Street's future."

Taste of Brazil Authentic Brazilian Cuisine

Taste of Brazil Authentic Brazilian Cuisine

★★★★☆ 3.6 (35) • $$

Dennis C. "Based upon the jam packed overflowing crowd I encountered last Sunday, this small Brazilian style storefront eatery may very well prove to be the little restaurant that could. It all began as a food truck that made a successful opening day debut at the International Food Festival in Hampton during the summer of 2016. This led to the owner's dream of finding her own brick and mortar location, which was finally fulfilled when she opened one in Norfolk this past August. Her dream brought her to a location in the Riverview section of Granby Street, partially housed in a former convenience store beside the recently closed Barking Dog, and directly across the street from the French Delicatessen and Bakery. Parking can be scarce. If I don't see a space, I usually pull into the McDonald's several feet away and swing around to the back of the building, where there have always been plenty of spaces available. The owner is from Brazil, where her family also owns a restaurant, and uses some of her grandmother's recipes. It is her mission to introduce the area to the more traditional style of Brazilian cuisine that was reminiscent of the 1950s.The decor has a distinctive 1950s feel as well. There is an antique radio in the corner of the customer counter. An old-fashioned pay phone and coffee maker are visible behind the food counter. Their coffee is brewed from beans fresh daily from Tidewater Coffee.Candy jars rest on the food counter, one of which includes a huge chocolate bar from Lacta, a Brazilian chocolate manufacturer, which I will try during my next visit. During my last visit, I counted seven two-seated metallic chairs inside. Four seats are available at the counter against the wall. Most of their tables and chairs are still outside, which were quite busy over the summer. After four visits, I have tried the following:BEEF AND CHICKEN EMPANADAS: I ordered one of each and was blown away. They were served piping hot with a thin flaky crust, plump and juicy with their shredded beef and chicken fillings. When it comes to empanadas, I've never had better. My Rating: 5 Stars.PRATO DE FRANGO: A large platter consisting of savory chunks of chicken with black beans, fried plantains, and white rice. This dish was very tasty, well seasoned, and very filling. It could have been just a little hotter temperature wise. My Rating: 4 Stars.FEIJOADA: A Brazilian Black Bean Stew with Black Beans, Bacon, Smoked Sausages, Ham Hock, Neck Bone, Collard Greens, Orange Slices, Yucca Flour Crumbles, and White Rice. This is regarded as the national dish of Brazil, and I've enjoyed it twice so far, with the first time in September and the second time last Sunday. It is only available during the weekends at this time. Let it suffice to say that it is incredibly delicious. My Rating: 5 Stars. Some of their current menu offerings seem to stray a bit from their Brazilian reservation. Their Smoked Kielbasa plate is one example. Kielbasa is a type of sausage originating from Poland and the Ukraine. What gives it a Brazilian touch are the black beans that come with it.They also offer Beef and Chicken Strogonoff, which are traditional Russian dishes. Their version which comes with two starches, namely rice and fries. Their daily breakfast offerings currently include eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, and sausage, which strike me as more American than Brazilian. They also offer a Philly Cheese Steak.I believe the owner is trying to establish a solid customer base with a few American and international favorites while gradually introducing her customers to more traditional Brazilian fare. Based upon the increasing customer volume I have witnessed during the past few months, it appears to be working. This restaurant also functions as a bakery, with many of their offerings featured almost daily on their Facebook page. Among them are Pao de Queijo, a traditional Brazilian cheese bread, Sonhos, which are popular Brazilian cream filled puff pastries, and Caramel and Nutella flavored Churros. A wide assortment of desserts is also available from their display cases, which has included corn pudding, corn pudding, flan, and a number of others. One minor issue I have with their current service policy is that water is only available by the bottle. Paying two dollars for a bottle of water doesn't quite agree with me, and I hope they reconsider this one.During my next visit, I want to try one of their Coxinhas, a popular street food in Brazil that consists of chicken meat molded inside batter fried dough resembling a chicken leg or tear drop. For yet another future visit, I am hoping that they will eventually introduce Moqueca, a traditional Brazilian fish stew to their menuI regard the Taste of Brazil as a work in progress and one that is still peaking. They have been making great strides so far, and I am looking forward to my future visits, and perhaps an upgrade to a 5-star rating sometime next year."

Michaela S. "We hit the All About the Cheese food truck at Traditions Brewing during restaurant week. Nothing quite says weekend decadence than a tasty brew or two and food you know is bad for you. I ordered the stuffed mac & cheese sandwich - basically a grilled cheese on thick, salty Texas toast with - you got it - mac & cheese stuffed in it. And I added bacon to it. It. Was. Amazing. Partner had the pork sandwich and the mac & cheese balls, also both quite tasty. It was so filling I couldn't finish it. As part of the deal, we also got these baked apple pie pockets. Those were alright, but nothing compared to the sandwich. The only downside is the salt portion - very, very salty all around. I'm a salt fiend, so it didn't bother me, but we did comment/joke several times that we were destroying our arteries. For a once in a while tasty treat, I'll certainly take it if they are outside Traditions again! You can keep up with where they are headed here:https://www.facebook.com/ALLABOUTTHECHEESE/Also -- a couple of these reviews seem to be about a competing truck? Or perhaps they changed the name. Who knows? My experience was with the All About the Cheese."

Who would have thought you'll find some Hawaiian lunch plates on Chincoteague Island!? So we decided to forego the usual choice of Chincoteague oysters for dinner and opt for Flamingos instead! Hubs and I shared a Loco Moco and a Big Island Plate that comes with Kalua Pork and your choice of shrimp. We opted for the Spicy Garlic Shrimp, iykyk . Everything was excellent! This truck used to be stationed further down the outer banks but has recently moved to Kitty Hawk. Food is made fresh to order. You can call ahead and pickup and pay or you can order at the truck and wait. We waited since it was our first time. The food is delicious. Their meals come with a side of their homemade Pico and fresh chips. I got the Buxton Burger, a 6 oz Patty and added cheese. Comes on a nice roll with all the condiment sauces on the side. I also got onions, pickles and lettuce. Wife got the Wanchese steak sandwich. That was HUGE, she only has had and I enjoyed the rest. Plenty of steak on a nice long bun. I'd probably ask for mustard and Mayo next time. Waffle fries were super fresh and delicious. They will definitely get my vote next time we are looking for a meal or burgers and steak subs."

You can get a feel for what flavors you like when you get a flight. Then you can get a pint of your FAVE. They have a great variety from sours, IPA"s to honey ales and lagers. Flavors are always changing but I am sure they will have something that fits your taste buds. My group of people all like something different and we all loved what we got. Did I mention the slushy??? YOU HAVE TO GET A N ADULT SLUSHY!!! Yum!!!Friendly staff, clean brewery, lots of great seating inside and out. The outside has big fans and it is my favorite to hang out and be comfortable. They do have a food truck. OK lets address the parking. I think they have many options of parking. You can park right on the street by the brewery. Please pay attention to no parking signs. And They have parking at MacKenzie Construction during the week after 5PM and after 1PM on the weekends. So just ask for a parking pass at the brewery. They have signs explaining the parking. It is also 5 minutes from the convention center. There is parking everywhere you just have to look. So delicious. So much freshness. You can have anything done in just about any style. Bowl, burrito, taco. They have the standard soft drinks and smoothies. The owner is a real gem and as nice as can be. The loss of a star because there is no place to sit. There was a bit of a wait since they ran out of batter but they kept us updated on when our order would be ready. We tried the mozzarella corn dog and the jalapeño corn dog. The mozzarella one is all cheese inside with the jalapeño one is a hotdog inside. Both were insanely delicious but I had a slight preference for the cheese one. The batter is delicious and the sugar topping creates that perfect savory and sweet balance. We also got an order of the Chinese donuts which came with chocolate and strawberry dipping sauces. Lastly, we ordered the triple sauced chicken which came with rice. Everything was delicious but the corn dogs are for sure the standouts! You must try one! This is a family run business and you can tell they put a lot of work into their food. Go to Facebook or Instagram to find out where they'll be and try out their food.
