"Maymar has been on Princess Anne forever!!!! It's one of those places that you have to remind yourself about, but then when you eat there food.....ask yourself why are they buried in the back of my mind when they should be in the front at all times!!!!!If I had a eat out budget everyday this would be my Monday and Thursday spot!!!Do they have anything that taste bad....ummmm no!!!!The food is already fresh hot and waiting for you to tell the little lady what you want in your tray! Right now the sweet chili wings are my fav!!!! They are cccrrraaaacckkkkkkk!!!!!!!"
"This little hole in the wall has been legendary for decades! The pepperoni bread is nothing you have ever tasted before! They also offer traditional Filipino foods like pancit, and others that I can't pronounce. It is all good!! During the holiday season, you can order sweet rolls for your holiday dinners, but make sure you get your order in early! The service is always fast and welcoming, even on their busiest days. Definitely check this place out, you won't regret it!"

"Very quick service! Food comes out in less than 10 min of ordering. Very simple food menu options. Mainly just staple items. Very affordable. Meals $10-$15 avg. per person. Waitresses are kind ladies typically. You do have to go to the register to pay!"
"I've only been to the Chesapeake location of Maymar and since I am already around the area, I agreed to a lunch with my coworkers at this location. When it comes to Filipino foods in Hampton Roads, Maymar is in the bottom of the list. I heard raving reviews about this location and how it is better than all the other Maymar so I finally decided to try it. The first thing I noticed was how busy this location is. There was a long line when we first got in and it takes a while before we get our orders. The restaurant was clean and bright. The staff were courteous and helpful. I ordered the Pancit Palabok, Fried Daing (Fried and Butterflied Milkfish, and Kare-Kare (beef stewed in peanut butter) . I was surprised that they put tripe on their Kare-Kare. I already got excited and when I tried it, I was impressed. Their Fried Daing was breaded, but it wasn't too crispy. As for the Palabok, I really enjoyed the taste. Maymar might not be my favorite Filipino restaurant, but it is definitely worth a try. I highly recommend it for Filipino food lovers or for people who wants to try Filipino cuisine."
"Yummy yummy yummy! Even my picky eater teenager LOVED it all! My favorites are the sinigang fried chicken and the ube tres leches cake. Be sure to follow their IG and FB pages for their schedule. You will NOT be disappointed!"
"October is Filipino American History Month, so my friends and I decided to check out Only at Renee's. According to their sign outside, the cuisine is inspired by the city of Pampanga. It's a small establishment, and when you walk in, you are transported to a night market perhaps (?) or the feel of someone's home. Super cozy! There are straw baskets in a variety of different shapes, sizes and designs adorning the walls and friendly staff.- Parking - Center lot.- Sips - Melon juice - this was so refreshing! It reminded me of a cantaloupe agua fresca, but here, they also add shredded cantaloupe in it. I could probably drink gallons of it! Sago't gulaman - this was my least favorite of the drinks. From the description, it truly is exactly that, sugared water with some toppings in it. I would not get this again.Calamansi crush - another winner! So refreshing! For those who are not familiar, calamansi is a Philippine lime, a citrus fruit that has a green peel, but has an almost tangerine like interior. It's so good, and they add a bit of crushed ice (not too much), so it keeps it cold, but it's also not a slushie. I would drink gallons of this too! - Noms - Sizzling inihaw na pusit: sizzling grilled squid garnished with onions and bell peppers. The size of this squid was HUGE. It was grilled, so it had the char taste which was delish, and served with a vinegar-based chili dipping sauce. So delicious! Oxtail kare-kare: oxtails stewed in a creamy, peanut sauce with eggplant, green beans, and bok choy. This was my least favorite dish. I have had kare kare once before, so I don't really have anything else to compare it to (it wasn't the best either). I think I just don't like the dish. It's super heavy and maybe I should have mixed some shrimp paste in the sauce to add more umami, but I think I just don't like the rich and heavy nature of the dish. No shade on the dish, as I know it's a favorite for many. The presentation and the quality of the ingredients were from what I could tell was far superior than the previous experience of my first kare kare dish. I normally love oxtails, but this preparation is just not for me, I think! Fried street food - platter of lumpiang Shanghai, fish balls, longanisa, fried pork belly, marinated angus beef, sweet plantains, and fries. This is my type of plate which has a little bit of everything! Definitely great for sharing! Garlicky fried eggplant: grilled whole with garlic. I just love eggplant and garlic, so this was a killer combo.Garlic fried rice: Filipinos are speaking to my Korean heart with this dish! I have recently discovered Filipino breakfasts and the starring role is the garlic fried rice. Only at Renee's is beautifully presented with some red onions on top! Good to soak up any sauces you have from the other dishes! Halo halo: in Tagalog, meaning "mix mix", it's a combination of crushed ice, evaporated milk, fruits, and homemade ingredients. As if all the things we ordered weren't enough, we had to end the meal with a grand finale. Halo halo reminds me of a Filipino version of a Korean shaved ice dessert called patbingsoo. I think most Asian countries have their own versions of this. Halo halo was a party of flavors from starchy to fruity, to icy and creamy and even the puffed cereal-like topping! I have heard that the owner's parents actually have a popular restaurant in NY and was the inspiration behind the opening of this restaurant. Love that they decided to bring it to the 757! My friends and I left full and happy, and I can't wait to go back to try more of the other dishes!Happy Fil-Am History Month! Go out and support and enjoy!"
"Their Carioca is the best!!! Hand's down!! This little Filipino spot may be small, but it packs a serious punch! Their Carioca is hands-down the best I've ever had--perfectly chewy, sweet, and absolutely addictive outer sugar crisp that will leave you swooning. The Turon is massive, crispy, and filled with just the right amount of sweetness. And don't even get me started on the BBQ on a stick--so flavorful and tender! If you're craving authentic Filipino food, this place is a must-visit."
"I had the ensaymada and it tastes heavenly! Unlike others where the sugar is still granular, it just has a sweetened butter cream on top. The place is quaint and the staff is awesome!"
"Dollar Hits Filipino Grill is a textbook definition of a hole in the wall restaurant. It is literally tucked away in a gas station but it needs to shine. This small family owned business has something going on with their value offerings of Filipino cuisine. Now since it is a smaller operation and setup, it does not have the same variety as other bigger Filipino restaurant establishments in the area but it does not lack the flavor.I stopped in for some BBQ sticks and they are reasonably priced. I also noticed they had a full menu with pancit and items that are assumed to be made to order. They do not have much selection but I'm sure with time they will expand. I ordered the chicken and pork bbq sticks and it came out quickly. The meats were tender and marinated and the sauces of vinegar and chili sauce were a perfect match! I even placed an advance order for a future gathering due to the value of it. I will make sure to stop there every time I am in the area for some goodies. Please give it a shot everyone and give this small business a boost!"
"I've been debating on how to write this review. I'll start with the good. The customer service and hospitality was great! The location is hidden, unless you live in the neighborhood behind the shoping center. It isn't visible from Princess Anne Rd. It has enough seating for a small crowd. I've only ordered to-go service. The food that I had from here was good. For example the pancit, topsilog, and more. The lechon kawali was very good! This place was my first and only experience eating it. Like others said, it is a delicious alternative to crispy pata (which is pricey here). I thought the bubble tea was overpriced. It wasn't the best, but I go to other places specifically for bubble tea.Besides the minor price issues of some items, I had one major issue with Glenda's. Now I love sisig since I first tried it a couple of years ago. I've eaten it at a few different places. Glenda's was probably the 2nd best that I've had. It's made to order, and came out fresh. HOWEVER, halfway through my meal I bit down on something extremely hard. I'm glad my reflexes were good, or I might have cracked a tooth. I spit it out, thinking it was a bone. When I looked at the object, it was clearly a fully entact molar, with roots attached!! I literally got sick to my stomach, and all types of thoughts ran through my head. I did my research and looked online to verify it was a pig molar.I knew which ingredients went into making sisig. I definitely believe there needs to be a better quality check (especially with these ingredients), and a selection of a new meat supplier. Sad to say that this experience has ruined any future sisig dishes for me. I can't think about it without feeling a little nauseous. I don't plan on eating here again. I wish Glenda's the best of luck, and hope the incident doesn't happen again.*I had posted the wrong main line pics earlier. The remaining pics are from my last visit here.*"
"Wow!! Since I've come to love everything made with Ube, this location is a veritable fairyland of goodies. They didn't have the Ube Spanish Bread, which is my favorite. But their Ube Pandesal Rolls are a close second. The first time I went, I had to immediately eat one in the car. It was so hot & fresh that my finger made an indentation in the roll. Yumminess personified!!There is a door and opening between the "behind the counter' personnel & the area where the bakers are working. When you order Ube Pandesal Rolls they actually walk into the area where the goodies are being baked & bring them out fresh from the oven.It was a quite busy time of the day so I quickly purchased a bag of 6 Ube Pandesal Rolls (not nearly enough), an Ube Crinkle Cookie, a slice of Bibingka (recommended by my physical therapist) & a Pandesal.Since I don't like sweets the Ube Pandesal Rolls were by far my favorite. I have one every day now with my breakfast. On a return trip I purchased a bag of twelve, which is a more reasonable amount for me.My PT's favorite Bibingka was too sweet for my tastebuds. They had a Ube Bibingka that day but not offered in the large slices. That probably would have better suited for me. Angie's has quite a variety of offerings. But I was on a singleminded focus aimed at Ube.The location is in a strip shopping center on the west side Holland Road. It's hard to see coming from the north since the center has a backwards L shape with Angie's facing traffic coming from the south on Holland Road. Turn west on Northwood Drive then a right turn into the shopping center. You'll be immediately facing Angie's.Although it's a busy shop, I've never had a problem getting a parking space in front of the bakery.I love your Ube Pandesal Rolls Angie's Bakery. Returning will be a regular part of my life."

Love this little hole in the wall. Not sure what all that I ordered because I didn't see any signs next to the food and it changed on the two consecutive days that I visited. I had the beef, squid, and what appeared to be some sort of intestine. If you prefer something a little less exotic, they make some bomb chicken wings! Literally the packed restaurant went wild when the chef came out with a fresh batch of cooked wings. The prices were fair and you can get a plate of rice with 2 entrees for around $13, tax included. And the portion sizes were more than generous. Expect a lot of grease so best not to make this your daily go to.

It really is GOOD! The food truck was in a prime spot during a local event. I decided to get the adobo fries just to try. My picky, hangry 12-year old thought it was so delicious, we had to get a 2nd helping. When i say picky - the tomatoes, onions & white sauce (mayo?) disappeared!... & my child doesn't usually eat tomato sauce on pasta. The meat was so tender and adobo flavor was not oily, not vinegar-sour. I'll try to find this truck again!

Service was super poor and they automatically charge a 20% gratuity for parties 5+. It took them over 15 minutes to get our beverages, I understand it gets busy but we didn't even get the water jug (that we have to serve ourselves) or utensils until asking multiple times. It also took almost an hour for the food to arrive which is ridiculous. Despite that, the food was good, I'm not sure what the names of the dish were since we had Filipinos in our group who decided what we were eating. The oxtail in peanut sauce was so good omg definitely my favorite of the four dishes, the pork dish was great too. The fried tofu dish and fish stew were good, I personally wouldn't get again but I can see the stew being popular amongst older folks. The interior is nice and homey feels like someone's house in a more curated way.

The Philippines is one of my favorite places, and going to a Filipino restaurant is one of the ways I cope with not being able to visit as frequently as I would like. The couple that own the restaurant were very friendly, and we chatted for a bit. I picked up some take out of a mung bean stew, pork in coconut sauce, pancit, and turon. Turon is my favorite treat, a banana wrapped in a dough wrapper, and deep fried. All of the food was delicious, and fairly reasonably priced. There was a market there as well, and I picked up some banana ketchup.

"If you are craving/wanting to try Filipino food, you NEED to come here. It's similar to cafeteria style. They had a lot of traditional Filipino dishes and some that I've never heard of before too. I got the pancit with two entrees last time and it was so much food that you'll probably have enough for two meals. The lechon belly and sisig were so good, so if you don't know what to get, at least get these two. To be honest, I don't think you could go wrong with any of their food items. The pricing was worth it for the amount of food that you get. Definitely try some of their sweets too! I can't wait to come back here again when I'm in the area."
"It had been my quest to locate a Filipino bakery that made the Ube Spanish Bread that I love. After visiting every Filipino Bakery that I could locate in the area my last option was Laguna. It took quite some time to be able to visit this bakery. Early in my search I called on a Saturday asking if they had Ube Spanish Bread. The answer was "Yes" but they were sold out & not making anymore because of their upcoming closure for a month. After their return my first visit was delayed for months because they are only open Friday, Saturday & Sunday. With great excitement my first & only visit found a well stocked bakery filled with goodies. But no Ube Spanish Bread.....Approaching the very unpleasant looking lady seated in a booth I inquired about the product. In a voice as unpleasant as she looked she took me to a display & indicated brusquely to a product. It did read Spanish Ube Bread but was not the purple bread I had come to love.I made the mistake of asking if they had the purple. I then received a lecture indicating that other stores that sold the bread just dyed them to make them purple. I didn't ask any more questions. Eager to leave I picked up one of her Spanish breads, a few other items and headed to her enclosed booth to pay. I didn't even take advantage of the Yelp Check In offer since she appeared irritated that someone had approached her booth to pay.Laguna's products were good, just not what I so eagerly anticipated. The business was clean & well stocked. But her enclosed booth left one with the feeling that the store wasn't a safe place. It probably is safe. The location is in Kempsriver Shopping Center, a large winding collection of stores & eateries located on the NW corner of the intersection of Kempsville and Indian River Roads.I probably won't return. There are other bakeries & shops with delightful Ube products and pleasant employees."
"Lechon or roasted suckling pig is a very popular dish in the Philippines. In Hampton roads we are fortunate to be able to experience this amazing meal at House of Lechon on Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach. Traditionally, lechon is slowly roasted and served whole and this is the way House of Lechon does it but every Sunday they sell it by the pound with a minimum order of two pounds. Whole pigs or by the pound orders require advance orders. They are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM but you can place your order any day (for pick up on the weekend) by calling them on the phone or sending a message on Facebook Messenger. I've ordered both ways with success. This is strictly a take out restaurant as there is no dining room. On Sundays when they sell lechon by the pound they make a little extra for walk-in customers but I highly recommend placing your order at least a day in advance. I have enjoyed partaking of the whole pig a couple of times at events and have ordered a few pounds a couple times. It is truly a wonderful dining experience. The skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy, tender and delicious. It is served with a very nice dipping sauce. You can order the whole pig, the head, shoulder/butt or belly. Check out one of my photos for the price list. As I said before, you can order lechon by the pound for Sunday pick up. Staff is friendly and pleasant when ordering and when you pick up the order. My wife and I really enjoy their delicious pork."
"The food is too good to be true and the only thing better than the food is the hospitality. The atmosphere comes across as a friend's home and not a restaurant. When regulars welcome you like you've been there before you know it's good. The pancit was extraordinary and the lumpia was so good I ordered 10 to go. And if you're a karaoke beast be prepared to battle. People were so good when I first walked in I thought it was the radio. I have never been to the Philippines, but I have many Filipino friends and Suzanne's is just as good as their mom's."
"So good!! Only 10.50 for dinner or lunch entree with rice. Very authentic Filipino food. Staff is so nice. Don't miss it!!!"
"Wow SOOOOO good. The adobo fries were delicious!! As you can see, it is a large load of fries with sauce, adobo chicken, and green onions. They also add spam chunks, which is genius. It all goes so well together. I truly loved this fusion. The empanadas were also yummy. They had a good crunch and the sauce was tasty. The staff were super chill. We checked them out at the Filipino Market that recently happened at the shopping complex across from Mt. Trashmore. Their electricity was having problems, so the fries took a long time to come out. That was really the only complaint. I would love to see them get a nice shop. The ambiance is outdoors, food truck kind of style."
"The first Max's restaurant from the Philippines to open in the DMV area. The food was decently priced for the portions provided, the Crispy Pata for example was huge. The famous "Max's Fried Chicken" was also very good. The Pork BBQ Skwers also surprised me as to how good it was, it was longer than a regular BBQ stick and it came with 4. I also thought it was funny that they have a specific Togo box that fits the BBQ stick, so don't worry if you need to take it home. I ordered an assortment of food and all came out good and everything tasted great. I'm sure the past reviews here were from when they first opened so they were probably very busy. I came in on a Wednesday afternoon and it was not busy at all for dine-in. For the amount of food we ordered it all came out in less than 20 minutes so the wait was not bad at all. I can't say how it is on the weekends. The service was great as well as the servers were very friendly. The ambiance was nice as well as it wasn't too busy, the restaurant is very clean on the inside. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be coming back."
"**Preamble:You're going to see interesting troll accounts in reviews, with 2-3 reviews giving low scores but make note how more experienced yelpers and yelp elite give this business 4-5 stars. People saying Ihaw Ihaw are rude to Americans isn't true either, I was in line and the people in front of me were evidently Latino/x American and Black American all ordered grilled fish and pork belly in English (not Tagalog) and seemed to praise this place. As a Pilipine-am person raised in very Filipinx/o neighborhoods all my life, I can't go without my classics especially during winter holidays. I make it a point when I travel to support local businesses and family -run places, especially Pilipino stores, restaurants, and grocery. Virginia Beach was no exception and in fact, brought such a beautiful lovely welcome for the holidays. The food here is seriously great and the portions are outrageously sized. OK, maybe that's because I'm coming from ny/nj where things are a bit more steep in price and smaller in size, but the quality here was undeniably excellent. The holidays are centered on desserts and at this establishment, it was a serious spread of bibingka, Suman, ensaymada, even ube crackled cookies, and so many kinds of glutinous rice cakes. This was indeed a one stop shop for those who are visiting family, dropping by a potluck, and enjoying various dishes from the Philippines and diaspora. At a turo turo, I will flock to my standards: turon (banana sweet eggroll with langka/jackfruit dipped in brown sugar caramel), bibingka, any bbq on a stick. There was liempo too and bbq pork belly was savory dropped in more sauce before being packaged up. The grill marks and the sweet smoky meat was so savory perfect! The turon here is bigger than your face. I'm not exaggerating when I say this turon was gargantuan and essentially my dreams, likely a portion of 2-3 turon anywhere else in nyc or queens. That alone deserves a majority of the stars. The outside was crispy to cover the warm saba and langka with just the right amount of crackly caramel. Beautiful execution. I also had coconut embedded palitaw which is a Filipino answer to mochi but flattened like a pancake coated in granulated sugar, fresh coconut, sesame seeds. The glutinous sweet rice flour was perfect texture and coconut was fresh with small crunch of roasted energy from the sesame. A delicious dessert bite. Lastly the pork BBQ was indoors and fatty with sweet char. Service was stellar and so kind, warm smiles and a gracious welcome. 3 turon, 1 pork belly, 2 pork BBQ, 1 palitaw was just under $30. Not too shabby at all given holiday time. Hands down, I love this place and will visit everytime in on town. Thank you for the perfect treats from my homeland missing heart! Maligayang Pasko po!"
"Within the past month heck few weeks, I was able to try this food truck. I have heard mixed reviews about the food here, so I figured I would be the tiebreaker amongst my friends. Now the hospitality - personable - customer service - top notch!I tried the following:Fried Rice - Chicken Skewers - Veggie Pancit - Chicken Lumpia - Orange ChickenI'd say 9/10 I'd recommend.I am only taking off one star, because I tried the highly rated/recommended fried rice, but was super disappointed by it. I had the shrimp fried rice and it lacked flavor. However, it did taste fresh, but that was my least favorite from the truck and my husbae agreed. The chicken lumpia was different. It was good at the time, but I'm good on that.Nevertheless, if I see this truck on site, I am definitely ordering the Combo that consists of one entrée and 2 sides... Veggie Pancit and Double Chicken Skewers please and thank you :)Check out this truck's IG page, where they update it quite often especially keeping you in the know of their whereabouts.Much success to this team.Have fun and enjoy life :)Oh... if you plan to visit get there early because depending on the location they sell out of their hot items within a few hours."
"Sophia and I stopped here at this Virginia Beach location out on the Oceanfront for breakfast. They've been here quite a while and are popular for their Filipino and Hawaiian dishes. It's small, but was very busy as we saw once we walked in. Luckily, we snagged a table just when they were nearly packed. It was quite loud, but it's Memorial Day weekend so you know they were gonna attract a crowd but inside and out. And they have a bar once you walk inside the building. After a few minutes of looking through the menu (and having some coffee for myself), we were ready to order. Both of us ordered the No Way Ray Ray, which is their take on biscuits and gravy. They are topped with fried chicken (a boneless thigh), Longganisa gravy, eggs (I picked scrambled), cheddar jack cheese, green onions and a sriracha drizzle (Sophia had hers with hard fried eggs and no sriracha drizzle). I'll be honest here. I didn't imagine it would come with brown gravy, which tasted a little sweet. And the fried chicken was coated in cornmeal instead of the usual all-purpose flour. But after a few bites, I gave it thumbs up. All the ingredients ended up coming together with each bite. And everything was cooked very well. To have the sriracha bring somrme heat was a nice touch. Not overpowering at all. This right here was worth coming to. You know you've run into a hidden gem when you see a crowd like we did. Even the owner Ray Ray stopped by to check in on us. Huge plus in my book. We'll definitely be back :)"
"This little turo turo surprisingly had a lot of variety. Our group of three got pancit, adobo, lumpia, chicken (red sauce, forgot the style), fried fish, rice... The pancit was the best taste-wise. Everything else was just okay. Price was right. Service was nice. Zero ambiance."
"As a north carolinian that lives in a place that don't have a solid representation of Filipino culture and food, visiting here on my vacation was exciting and impactful. One of the many cuisines i try to find out about and here it was, Felynn. This was homemade, the staff hooked me up and helped me out with the food choices, from the Lechon, to the Pork Adobo, this was heaven on a plate. I love the sour soup and the chop suey, and this is pork heaven. The restaurant is setup like a cafeteria style ordering system, and you can see everybody and anybody coming here. This was a great exposure forMe, thank you so much guys."
"Parking is a Major issue !And I mean Major! Not a very friendly or welcoming place at allAfter going through the airport security metal detector and then being wanded by security. I was told Men have to pay $20 to get in. Thought those days were behind us.They must make a lot of money with the cover because it was 95% menDecor is nice And Dj is great if it wasn't for the great music and energy from the DJ I would have given 1 star.Bartender was fast but not Friendly Parking lot is tiny so it limits the crowd. Of course every business around them have signs saying no parking I would not go back nor recommend"
"Ended up going to this place just to get some Pan De Sal bread because Lumpia House is closed now :-(Walked in as they where putting out freshly baked goods. (Oh the need for a Smell App is overdue). My wife asked about the Lumpia House as we told what was going on with them. He then said that if we bought a bag of lumpia he would fry it for us. AWSOME!!! bought a bag of 50 Chicken Lumpia and a hot bag of Pan De Sal. Ate about a dozen HOT Lumpia and some bread before we took the rest home. Will be back soon for some whole fried fish soon which smells so so good from the back."
"Lumpia & Company has been on my radar for a long time. I originally heard of them back in 2017-2018, but I was never able to get out here. COVID hit, and I actually forgot all about Lumpia & Company. But a handful of recent IG videos kickstarted my memory. With mom in tow, I was able to finally check them out on 4/6/24. Art Agustin is Lumpia's founder and owner, and he was nice enough to introduce himself and chat with us for a bit. He told us of the store's history, how they survived COVID, and even offered some of his personal backstory. Lumpia & Co. is truly a family business as Art's wife and sons work there, too. While we conversed with Art, mom and I had the following: Pancit: noodles, veggie mix, chicken Adobo bowl: 7-hour smoked pork adobo, lemon slaw, steamed rice Lumpia sampler: Monte Cristo (ham & cheddar, powdered sugar); Philly Cheesesteak (steak, provolone, peppers, onions); Classic (beef, celery, carrots, green onions) Depending on who you ask, L&C is hit or miss. I enjoyed the adobo bowl (although I felt the pork was a little overcooked). I loved the lumpia (the variety is appealing), but mom only gravitated towards the classic lumpia. Then, mom wasn't too thrilled with the pancit as she believed the noodles weren't washed enough, possibly not washed at all. As for mom's lumpia preference, I'll chalk that up to her being more traditional - "jazzing up" something that's already near-perfect (I've never met anyone who outright dislikes lumpia) isn't the move. Whereas, after trying some of the pancit, I have to agree that L&C's pancit dish could be improved. It's good, but imo it's not prepared and cooked in a traditional way. Or, it may be something as simple as regional differences - my mom and Art are from different provinces in the Philippines, so Art's version of pancit differs from the style my mom and I are used to. It's akin to barbeque - there are differences with BBQ from North Carolina, Kansas City, and Texas. None of the styles are wrong, but they instill preferences and expectations that may or may not align. L&C's facility is small and is located in a strip mall that's unassuming and almost hidden. It may be difficult to find them during that initial visit, but once you find them, it's all good. What matters is that you can find them and that their establishment is clean and tidy. Thanks to Art and his family for their food and hospitality. I look forward to future visits and hopefully more fantastic conversations. JV"
"I called to place a pickup order for a dozen lumpia, and I planned to pick them up by 2:45 on a Saturday (they close at 3). I ended up not getting there until around 3:10, so I called when I realized I was gonna be majorly late. They ever so graciously held my lumpia for me and let me in the locked door to buy them. The lumpia tasted delicious, and now I have a go to spot for lumpia in the OV area.Great customer service, and I appreciated them being so gracious with me! Highly recommend."
"Maymar Filipino Restaurant in Chesapeake was such a nice experience! The service was super friendly and quick, which I really appreciated. Everyone was welcoming, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and comfortable. As for the food, I tried a little bit of everything. The rice, pancit, picadillo, sisig, longganisa, and lumpia, and let me tell you, they were all absolutely amazing. The flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. However, the afritada was a bit much for me. It was so bold and overpowering that it kind of clashed with the other dishes when I tried to pair them. On its own, it might've worked better, but with everything else, it just didn't hit the same. That being said, I'd definitely come back here. It's a solid spot for Filipino food, and most of what I had was fantastic. Still, the Maymar in Ocean View Norfolk holds a special place in my heart and it's just my favorite overall.Chesapeake's location is worth a visit, though, especially for the friendly service and those classic dishes done right."
