"My favorite spot in VA Beach. Small tasting room but worth a visit. It's simple. You pick from a list of featured cocktails of the week. You can do two cocktails, a cocktail + a flight, or just a flight. The best option is cocktail + flight as that lets you sample the most variety. The bartenders are always nice and add to an overall great experience."
"I've been meaning to come here for a long time since I usually purchase a bottle of any of the new flavors when I go to the ABC store. It's great to be able to get legal moonshine in my hometown. The flavors are always inventive and delicious. My parents and I came here for tasting, and we all got different things to try out. The new flavors and some of the old special ones I've never had were bright and delicious. They were mixed in the order so I'm not sure which was which other than the yuzu ginger. The staff here is very friendly, and the vibe is low-key. I know I'll probably come back through again when I'm in town to see what new flavors are up for grabs. I think I made my parents big fans, lol."
"I had never been to a distillery until Sunday. That's a dang shame and I'm glad that I can say that trend is over. I'm looking forward to heading to distilleries and I'm fairly certain that Sleepy Fox will be seeing me again. My experience was wonderful. The hostess was extraordinarily friendly and knowledgeable. She knew a lot about the flavors and even more about what people liked. I got the flight which was 6 tastings of the different blends. I chose the apple pie (which is a top seller), Maple, Peach, Cinnamon, the 2 year aged bourbon, and the 5 year aged bourbon. I loved all of them but I was especially enamored with the peach and 5 year aged bourbon. Not only did they flights but there were mixed drinks. My wife had the mojito which she was kind enough to share with me.Best of all, this entire only left is $18 out of pocket including the tip for the hostess. Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I love burgers, pizza, wings, and salad. Well, bourbon/whiskey/scotch/brandy/cognac are my other passions and I know them kinda good. What I had at Sleepy Fox was very good!"
"Stopped in this distillery while in Newport News. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about their whiskey. The tasting room is very inviting with lots of seating and comfy sofas. We did a tasting of four different whiskies and ordered an old fashioned. We tried the maple cask, toasted oak cask, honey, and the flying fox winery cask. The smell of the flying fox winery was my least favorite but the best as far as taste. I'm a bit of a bourbon snob. So, I didn't purchase any due to the fact that they didn't taste aged at all. The old fashioned was amazing!! Definitely a great place to try if you're in the area."
"Acoustics are loud in here! Say what?? I said... oh never mind! Today this distillery was everything but still. Full of folks having a good times and getting into the "spirit" of things! If you are in the Goochland area, this cool distillery is worth a gander! As the name states, it's atop of a hill, surrounded by a forest in a rustic setting. There are two fire pits, which we snuggled around while we sipped our libations. Also a stage is on the grounds when there's live music here! Inside is small, a few tables, a bar, and shelves of hooch for sale! They offer other gifts as well, soaps, coffee, chocolates - I bought several!! We also purchased some of the blackberry moonshine they make, which the owner made into a nice presentation with a galvanized bucket and the other items we chose all wrapped up! It make a wonderful gift! The liquors are mostly bourbon whiskey, scotch, rye, vodka and moonshine. My hubby tried a flight, and I had a coffee/kahlua/whiskey drink - I'm not much of a liquor drinker, a bit strong for me, but it was pretty good! We also got a tour of the distillery and it was so cool seeing all the machinery and how the distilling process is done! The owners are super sweet and hospitable! We would definitely give this place another "shot" whenever we are in the neighborhood! I can't wait til it's warmer and they have live bands!!"
"The best vibe on Mason Street! Such a fun place and relaxing at the same time.Delicious hand crafted cocktails served in a lovely outdoor seating area. All the drinks are the same price ($15). I had a Moscow Mule and my husband had the French 75. We loved it so much here that we came back the next afternoon. Our service was attentive and took our orders quickly. She checked back in on us as needed. Great job on a busy weekend."
"They do not serve food drinks only cocktails .. They also offer classes where you can come in and make your own cocktails. The staff is amazing. The drinks are amazing. Service top-notch the ambience amazing. Great place for our first date."
"We were exploring the town this past Sunday. Came upon this place. Got a good vibe when we walked it. The staff are simply awesome. Very helpful and friendly. "Dawn" our host was super! Can't wait to chat with her again. She helped us decide on what to order and then later chatted with us at the end. The drinks and food were all very good. We left no survivors. I look forward to trying other items on the menu next time.Nice job Dawn! Very nice to meet you. Keep up the great things you folks are doing here."
"Stopped in on my way back from spending the day in Smithfield got the sampler which was about seven dollars or so for four tastings. The rum was very good and the whiskey was delicious. The staff was super friendly and the area was clean and open. There was a nice outdoor area as well with some seating under the porch, I imagine this place gets really super lively when they have events as there was a stage and a TV in the corner we will definitely be back absolutely recommend and then next time I come I want to bring home a bottle, but I had already spent too much money in Smithfield"

I really enjoyed the cocktail flight and especially the spicy tequila. I look forward to making some spicy margaritas at home. It was a fun place to visit while we vacationed at Virginia Beach. I recommend it!

Came for a tasting with friends and really enjoyed everything we were given. It was a tasting of the canned cocktails they are about to release so it was neat to get a sneak preview. I also paid $5 to taste four of the flavored moonshines straight. Highly recommend the lemon lavender and the Yuzu ginger. I ended up buying a sampler pack of the moonshines. Very friendly service and great products.

Stopped in last Thursday for the first time. We happened to be there around 11am (2 hours before opening) but the friendly staff at the attached Country Store welcomed us in and gave us a tasting. The bottles are immediately eye catching. There were several flavors of moonshine - the Apple Pie was our favorite - but we really enjoyed the Maple Whiskey. Hands down our favorite overall. (Note: due to Virginia ABC rules about tasting amounts we did not try the Vodka or Straight Bourbon). Makayla was very knowledgeable about each spirit and gave us a lot of detailed background about the business, etc... HIGHLY recommend. The sandwiches that the attached Country Store were making looked FABULOUS as well. We will definitely return!

A little out of the main stream of town but definitely worth it. We enjoyed a bourbon tasting flight each. Definitely worth having our own as these are such good bourbons. Also added a sample of their brand new rye. Delicious. We got here on a Wednesday right at noon, when they open. We were the first to sit at the bar. By the end, it was almost full of people enjoying cocktails and tasting flights at the bar. Loved watching the bar waitress making all the drinks. So fun seeing all the action and science. She is friendly and talks while making drinks. We are sitting on the "sight of the Monitor and Merrimac". So cool to understand the history of this part of town. Many plaques and photos of the 1800's, flags, lots of history here. Bins of oranges, large canning jars of cherries for making old fashioned cocktails. This has views for everyone. Thanks, Jaylynn, for your friendly service.

Finally visited hill top distillery last week. Glad we did!Four adults shared three flights, which meant we could all try a wee taste of all their liquors except one. The owner poured for us and chatted while we stood at the bar to taste; he was very friendly and answered our questions about the spirits and told us about more of the origin of the distillery.I found all of the spirits to be incredibly smooth and drinkable. I loved the apple pie moonshine, the strawberry moonshine, the bourbon, and the maple whiskey. All of the non flavored spirits were good too, and would be worth stocking the bar with: gin, vodka, whiskey, single malt! After we tasted everything we all got a cocktail to enjoy outside in the nice lawn area under an umbrella. We also took home some strawberry moonshine! Yum!It was a lovely visit, and a fun place to bring family we had visiting from Scotland. We'll visit again!

Came for one of their cocktail classes and had a BLAST! The perfect date night, girls night or family outing. The gentleman who led our class was fun, educational and kept us all on track, even when our group was getting distracted. Drinks were delicious from the bar, as well. If you haven't yet, highly recommend booking a class! Take an Uber!

This is a small local whiskey distillery that has a small menu and was a fun place. We arrived around 5pm on a Nice weather Saturday and a small bus was leaving (thank goodness, lol). There is a patio you can sit on to drink and eat; however, we went inside and sat at a booth in the back. I did not drink whiskey, instead we ordered cocktails off the fun spring cocktail menu. I really enjoyed the "I wet my plants." The table beside us got several whiskey flights though! My friends enjoyed the goat cheese dip with orange marmalade. I ended up with the tomato grilled cheese and a salad. The balsamic dressing was very good. Hubby got the nachos, which were HUGE! The picture cannot demonstrate the massive amount of pork that was in there. I would definitely come back for some drinks and appetizers or small meal.

"Booked the Distillery Tour & Tasting in advance for our stay at The Cavalier. Took us longer to get to Virginia Beach than we expected, so we arrived just as the tour was starting, but they were kind enough to make us feel welcome and that we hadn't missed anything.Tour is just the right length of time. No boring spots. Informative in an entertaining way, and what's not to love about the tasting? We got to try four of their bourbons plus a vodka and a gin. All very good. I surprised Husband with a purchase of the "premium" tasting which included a small pour of another bourbon plus a glass to take home.Since we can't purchase their fine products in NC, needless to say we spent quite a "few" bucks in their shop LOL. In addition to bottles, they have canned "mixed" drinks as well. They also sell hats, and shirts and even a smoker if you want to make your own smoked drinks, which we do. Bourbon lovers, highly recommend this, whether you're staying at the hotel or not."
"I love pretty much everything that Cirrus puts out. Their orange crush and limeade are two standouts for sure. I also really enjoyed their holiday cocktails this past season. I was able to try three out of four of them, and they were all really well made. It's a popular spot no matter the season. In the winter, they have a tent for some extra covered seating. The interior is cozy and cute, and the line for drinks generally moves pretty fast. It's a great spot in the summer as well with the live music that Main Line often has going on.I was confused about my total after my last visit and messaged them on insta. They responded so quickly and professionally to help clarify it for me. I really appreciated that too. Shows they care about their customers.I definitely recommend them for your vodka needs!"
"I've tried most of the breweries in Richmond, so on a day trip, I went a little different direction. I was the only customer in the bar on an early Sunday afternoon, and the bartender was really cool, we chatted about a bunch of topics. I had a very nice tasting sampler of three whiskeys, and the Summit cocktail tasted refreshing and well balanced."
"With a little time to kill before a concert at the theater, I was looking forward to trying the distillery. First off, they have amazing service. Very personable, very engaging. the staff knows how to make a customer really feel welcome. The taster was 5 samples for $5, not a bad deal at all. I was explained the differences in the various spirits so I was making informed decisions on what I was trying. From there, I headed into the bar to try one of their cocktails. And this is one impressive bar. They even have their own dehydrator to make garnishes for the drinks. I tried the Blarney Stone, which had their Rockfish whiskey, cinnamon vodka, lemon juice, fig syrup, cherry and lemon. It was a weird combo to be sure, but that was a smooth, enjoyable drink. Definitely worth another visit here, I'll be taking the tour next time around."
"Awesome distillery/brewery that operates inside Bombolino. While waiting for our pasta to cook, we got to taste a range of liquors and pick out a couple to make cocktails at home. The owner was awesome! He was very friendly and gave us some education on all the different alcohols he produces. There was a total mix of stuff- rum, gin, whiskey."
"This place is great! What a hidden gem. Really reasonable prices. The apple pie moonshine is so good! Definitely get a flight. It is worth it. I'm sure their cocktails are good, but the flights are where it's at. Best bang for your buck! Super chill entertainment, good energy, great service. The owner gave my brother, my dad and I a tour of the place. Really exceptional experience! Highly recommend. Best little bar in Deep Creek hands down."
"This small distillery outside of Farmville is friendly and welcoming. You can visit their tasting room and learn about the distilling process while sipping and savoring batch spirits and craft cocktail samples.Be sure to follow them on social media or check the events link on their web page for live music nights, salsa and more."
"Our service couldn't have been better. Our server was so helpful and seemed like she truly loved her job. She made small talk and made some great suggestions. Inside is massive. I love the old building turned into something new vibe, and while it seems weird to mention, the bathroom was big and really impressive! I got the soup special of the day, which was buffalo chicken and SO good. It was like a wing in soup form. I also got the pretzel with cheese and while it was good....it was absolutely covered in salt. I had to spend a good amount of time desalting it to make it even close to edible. It once again was tasty after I did that, but I shouldn't have had to. The server was super sweet when I mentioned it, and said she would tell the kitchen. I was only in the area visiting, but I'll make sure I mention it to anyone I know will be in that area."
"We live close to the area and randomly saw this place. So we decided to stop by one day. Very quiet, small distillery. The staff was welcoming and very informative. The ambience is relaxing. We can't wait to visit again, when the weather isn't rainy so we can enjoy the outside area they have!"
"This is a small place and parking is street parking. This is ok though! The inside offers good rum and a small bar with seating for you to try some of the cocktails that they do using their rum varieties. It looks like they have 4 varieties that they craft and they're tasty. I ordered a mojito and they use fresh ingredients, so I had an actual small mint branch along with the muddled mint. Really nice, tasty. I will return!"
"We had wanted to check out the new distillery for months. We finally had a chance to come by. Located just 1.5 miles off the bridge, it was a quick jaunt from our Kitty Hawk home.Staff was super friendly. They gave us some great suggestions. We started with a flight that included 4 tastings for $12. We had whiskey and vodka tasting. All were easy to sip. We decided to order cocktails and whiskey. They also offer some snacks most locally sourced. We had the delicious pimento cheese made by a family in Manteo. The day we came we had a chance to eat Steamers food truck meals. It was very good. The distillery is a nice spot to enjoy cocktails and drink some good whiskey. We came away with a couple of bottles."
"Everything about this place is a delight. The cocktails are wonderful, the vibes are incredible with the hidden door and the old time maps that nobody seems to be able to pin down the era they came from, and the food truck options they have there regularly are delicious. The crew are so welcoming and friendly as well. The only thing I have yet to do is the tour."
