"Great reviews for this place. It is in a little strip mall. Unpretentious shop. There is a small sitting area but no one was thereMostly fried food, fried fish. I ordered shrimp and grits and fish tacos. The fish tacos were good. Fish was flaky, deep fried whitefish. The shrimp and grits I can't comment on because for some reason I got the fish fry instead. As a fish fry, it was okay. Fair amount of fries. Fish was spiced up a bit. Came with shrimp, which were fairly well done. But for someone who comes from a region where fish fry is the only meal on fridays, I was kind of disappointed. Wouldn't compare it to a beer battered fish fry from where im from...Especially since I had been looking forward to shrimp and grits."
"My boyfriend and I have been trying to eat at the local spots the last few weeks. Our friend Mike told us how good the food is here. So today we looked at the menu and placed a take-out order. We ordered a blue cheese burger with crinkle fries. What a tasty delicious burger. Then we ordered the 3 appetizers plate. We mulled over the choices and ended up ordering potato skins, fried pickles and mac n cheese bites. I was not real sure about the Mac n cheese bites. What a wonderful surprise. We will definitely eat here again!!!"

"They have a beautiful outdoor seating area, friendly service, and maybe the best fries I've ever had."
"Quality food. Clean interior. The decorations at the front block a clear view of the restaurant, making it virtually impossible for customers to enjoy the view of the inside of the restaurant while waiting for a host to seat them. That's unfortunate, because it looks great inside once you get past those decorations that block the view. It also makes it harder for the restaurant staff to see that someone is standing at the front.Would go again."
"Extremely friendly service, quaint andCozy establishment in the heart of downtown Norfolk. Everything is made to order and the quality of freshness was top notch, definitely recommend!"
"So I found this place through yelp reviews and they did not lie:The outside looks like a run down ex hot dog stand. It looks like it would be gross. It looks... Not great. But the inside is clean, the service is great, and the void was so yummy! There are blue stars on the menu next to popular dishes and my chicken and bacon mac and cheese was delish! Would definitely recommend!"
"Tasty beach place with starters beach type burgers and good atmosphere and nice sanded outdoor area. Close to beach."
"We treated my friend to a restaurant of her choice for her birthday and this place was the winner! They don't take reservations for smaller groups, it's a first come first serve basis. We arrived at 5:30pm ish for a party of 3 and we were immediately seated (Saturday in July) .All the staff were very friendly and wished my friend a Happy Birthday! (We had given her a birthday crown & sash. hehe) It was nice of them to kindly acknowledge it, which added to the comfy & welcoming dinner experience! They also willingly took a group photo of us. Some of us ordered the watermelon cooler, which was okay. I didn't find it very flavorful or as refreshing as I had anticipated. A cheese board was ordered & that was tasty. I was highly disappointed that the crab pot pie was sold out! So our server recommended the Blackened Mahi Oscar with crab meat on top. It was delicious! The mahi was cooked perfectly, moist, not dry & not soggy. The crab meat was a decent amount and the dish overall tasted scrumptious! My friend had the crab cake entree and she devoured it! We all went for dessert- the triple chocolate cake, the double chocolate goat cheese cheesecake & the mandarin orange cake. We all respectively enjoyed our choices. The cakes were moist and a decent size. Although the chocolate slice did look a bit bigger than the orange one. The mandarin orange cake was very aromatic! The smell of citrus pleasantly hits you. It wasn't overly sweet and it was refreshing! I'm not a fan of cheesecake but I had a sample of my sister's and it was really good! It's a cozy restaurant that's also a wine & cheese shop. There's a small dining area on the first floor to the right, outdoor seating with a sun sail for shade and more seating up a flight of stairs."
"My experience here was much better than mine at the original location after a half marathon where my stuffed toast wasn't stuffed and issue wasn't addressed.... Here - the staff were all warm and friendly and food was out quickly and was warm and delicious. The coffee was fresh and hot, my scotch eggs were out in moments and my corn chowder and carnitas hash were savory and filling! My waitress, Emily, was a delight - super friendly and attentive. I've watched this being built 5 minutes from my home for a loooong time due to delays and happy to see it thriving in this shopping center. A great new addition. Their menu here for brunch is great and has all the basics plus some interesting items. You can get omelets, avo toast, pancakes, hash, etc but then they also have salads and Benedict's and burgers and fun alcoholic drinks. They also have a full dinner menu with weekly specials and happy hour. Great location in Red Mill. Love, love, love."
"Oh man, anything here is a hit. We went on a weekday so very chill. They also only do soufflé pancakes during weekday/dine in only. Totally worth it. They're so light, fluffy, and not too sweet! Also something that I was shocked about is the cinnamon roll funnel cake. You will not go wrong ordering that as a sweet treat! Everything was great and food came out quick! Love this spot, can't wait to go again!"

After striking out at other Main Street joints, I tried Derl'z. They were out of wings, so I tried the boneless chicken wings. They were moist nuggets made from chicken breast. If you want good food in Suffolk, give this place a try.

This is our go-to breakfast place when we're in VB. The service is absolutely the best no matter how busy the place is, the food is top notch, and the prices reasonable. It has just the right vibe; hip but not too much so, suitable for friends or family. The drinks are amazing--it's the only place I've ever been where you can get a flight of mimosas.

When I say you NEED to try Stockpot, I mean it. I went for Sunday brunch and it was so good that I've been telling everyone about it since. The rosemary biscuits? Perfect. The chicken noodle soup? Amazing. I was so focused on the meal, I completely forgot to take a photo! This place really does have something for everyone, and I can't stop thinking about how great it was. If you're looking for a solid brunch in downtown Norfolk, Stockpot is the place to go.

Matt's smackin macs is located in Newport News off Warwick blvd, if you blink you'll miss it! We arrived around 10:45 (15 mins before opening & waited). We thought the restaurant was very quirky & loved how different it was. Once inside there was a small dining area and the counter where you order. The employees were very kind and patient as we stumbled through what we wanted. (Pulled pork Mac has been taken off the menu - *insert cry emoji* The Mac n cheese wasn't bad, the chicken had a weird texture to it, but tasted good. I think it is a little over priced, but as is anything that's unique of its kind. All in all, a pretty good little shop & I enjoyed the vibes.

So first, I'll start by saying we've eaten out every night this week, and this is the only place I'm bothering to review. Our server was "Panda" who was fast, friendly, and courteous. The ambiance of the place was made to look like a surf shack and was a welcomed break from the OBX standard. The food was delicious, I got Queso Steak Tacos, Fresh Fish Tacos, and fries. My family of 6, including 2 small children, all equally enjoyed their food. We all got different offerings from the menu. The family is unanimous. This place was great and on the cheaper side, too!

It was good! I would have only given 3 stars if it had not been for that Smoky Garlic Shrimp- to die for! Soup of the day- it was clam chowder. It was just ok- way too many potatoes. Good flavor.Shrimp and Grits- good, but not mind-blowing.Smokey shrimp- yum yum yumWe had a pet, so we sat outside. Nothing super about the service. It was good, but nothing special. The store inside is super cute and worth a visit.

"Happy grand opening, Stockpot Chesapeake! Despite being busy, each person working was attentive and accommodating. All the tables were full when we arrived, but we were able to get a booth in a few minutes. We also were able to fit our husbands in an hour later, when they decided to join us.The food: always on point. OG rice was fresh, rice was cooked nicely, and their kimchi was full of flavor. I had never had a Turkish breakfast, but each component was great. Tzatziki sauce had some kick! Hubs had the Southender and he said he enjoyed it. Rob, the FOH manager, was really welcoming despite being very busy on a Sunday morning AND being grand opening weekend. Cannot wait to return for ramen, trivia, wine dinners - I'll be a fixture here, for sure!"
"Hair of the dog- I have learned now over the years is kind of touch and go! This used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots, and the only reason I keep trying them is because I have had some of my best dishes here .I had a boozy iced coffee flight- they definitely did not skip out on the liquor, however, a lot of it was a little bit too sweet for me.I ordered the Benedict flight and had to have it remade twice because they could not get the eggs correct. I ended up not eating most of it, because outside of the eggs it was still just as bad. However, I have had some of the dishes on the Benedict flight separately in the past and they have been phenomenal. I want to just say they were having an off day."
"I was looking for another food truck that was supposed to be at the Back Bay Brewery and saw this one instead. I never heard of them before so I was interested to see what they had to offer. They are Asian-Pacific cuisine. They had burgers that were Asian inspired, pork belly bun, wings, bowls and etc. I ordered pork belly buns, bulgogi chicken bowl and fries. Pork Belly - the buns were soft and pillowy. The belly was seasoned so good, tender and yummy! The best I've had!!Bulgogi Chicken bowl- chicken was well marinated that reminds me of like a Japanese BBQ soy sauce based. It had a nice cooked char to it. Chicken thighs were used making it tender. This was so YUM! Fries- were the crinkly ones salted nicely lolCustomer Service- was the best!! Very friendly and kept you informed how much longer your food will be. They give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait around the truck. The owners were awesome. They post on their website of where they will be so if you see them, please stop by and check them out. It's worth it!"
"We have eaten at Hobnob multiple times and are always extremely happy with the food. Fig and prosciutto flatbread, short rib empanadas, fried chicken cobb salad, roasted brussels, home made soups ALL winners! Even the side dishes are memorable. Fairly priced! Service is always on point and friendly. They have made improvements to the outdoor patio area- better side walls and a separate door. Much better for year-round dining. :)"
"Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The catfish was excellent alongside the hush puppies. Their garlic fried potatoes were exceptional highly recommended. The service was very good our server Alexus was very friendly and prompt. She even shared the reason why "Hush Puppies " have that name. You'll have to ask for Alexus when you dine there. The ambiance is open almost cafeteria style. Tables and booths are available.Overall a pleasant dining experience."
"Locally owned filled with love and a big helping of flavor!! Mrs.Cheryl has done an amazing job bringing her unique style to the table. Her dishes are filled with the best seasoning and freshest ingredientsA mom and pop comfort addition is exactly what this area needed They offer homemade New Orleans and southern style home cooked entrees and delicious sides You can get an entree and two sides for less than 20$ and they offer catering as well this is a must try for sure!"
"This review is on behalf of my boyfriend. We have driven by this nondescript little restaurant many times, but never stopped. Today two of the boys were working in the vicinity and decided to grab some take-out from Taylor's, simply as a matter of convenience. They ordered burgers & fries. Which I then had to hear about for 20 minutes. (Hence this review. I wanted to shut him up). He says they were among the best burgers ever. He said there were tons of desserts, too, however he didn't sample those. I'll be making the voyage soon and will put my two cents in."
"We ate here last week while on vacation for the 3rd time. We got there when it opened and even though we had a reservation there was no wait! --The cheesesteak egg rolls - 5 STARS! So good - the dipping sauce was great too! You have to order this app!! -Cornbread app - not as great as I remembered it being the last time, but still good.-Wings special - I think we had honey bbq - always good! -Fried Chicken - wasn't told there was an uncharge for fries instead of slaw but the entire meal was good! -Special Surf & Turf kabobs - 5 STARS on the taste - the chimchurri was so good but felt like it was a bit pricey ($38) for the amount of protein that came with it (4 shrimps and 3 pieces of steak)-Crabcake app - very good - nice flavor lots of crab-Filet - My daughter ordered this and again 5 STARTS! It was so delicious - the sauce and the potatoes and the cut of meat was great as well. I would order this again and again. We finished with the cheesesteak and the key lime pie - both delicious as well!! I really wanted to try the brownie sundae, but was taking mine to go and was so full after dinner - will def try that next time."
"OMG, we loved Kings - definitely a must stop if you're in the area.I ordered a couple of Chix Thighs that came with one of their delicious Cat Head Cheese biscuits, also a side of Hush Puppies and a small Sweet Potato Pie.Super nice staff, huge menu and delicious southern food. Everything was so yummy and definitely the best sweet potato pie I've ever had. So yep, we'll be back, next time we're in NC."
"First time at Kennon Sports Bar but it surely won't be our last. As we are relatively new to the area we were happy to check this out on a Monday night. While we were happy they were open, we didn't know there was a more limited menu available, as the main restaurant was closed. I was a little disappointed that Fried Chicken wasn't one the menu, but that disappointment quickly eroded when our awesome Waitress Brooke suggested I try the shrimp platter. My date had the smash burger with cheese - we both really enjoyed our dinners ! The fried shrimp platter had 11 giant shrimp- perfectly cooked and very flavorful, the Cole slaw was delish- as were the tots. The smash burger was also so good.~ he's a burger guy and gave it a thumbs up. The ambiance was a high point- a really beautiful setting with great music and a real pulse - even on a Monday night. We totally enjoyed our evening from the service to the food, we will absolutely be back ~ we are looking forward to trying the main restaurant. The history and atmosphere are both amazing....."
"While driving through New Kent I saw this cute little place which was memorable enough to stop at on the way back by. The restaurant is an adorable farmhouse-looking historic building with down-home southern kitchen. The restaurant was relatively busy on Thursday evening at 7pm and we waited just a few minutes for a table to get set. The service provided by Desirae was friendly and attentive. I was expecting a bit of a wait but was really surprised at how fast the food came out. They have a full bar and a whole list of whiskey drinks. My Fiance got the blueberry bourbon smash. They also have a whiskey flight for those interested.More about the food..There are so many attractive looking dishes on the menu but I love that many of the plates include three sides!! I chose the grilled lemon pepper chickent (which includes two chickent breasts) collards, broccolini and the mac and cheese. All were so so tasty. I cleaned my plate and was quite full afterwards. My Fiance got the hot honey chicken, glazed carrots, mash potatoes and a garlic cheddar biscuit. Our food came out and our server alerted him that fresh biscuits were just about to come out of the oven but they provided him some corn bread with the plate. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of giving him something while he waited. The biscuit(s) came shortly thereafter and was hot/fresh and sooo damn good. Two spoonful size biscuits. Lovely place for a great meal and service."
"Rainy and ugly, so what better to put you in a great mood then southern food with a creole kick. That describes this establishment of home cooked comfort food. It's not a large restaurant, but they deliver big flavor. I had the smothered pork chops, greens and a delicious sweet potato soufflé oh can't forget that great cornbread that comes with the dishes. The prices are reasonable and the service is awesome. A definite diamond in the ruff. This was my first of many visits to come!"
"Shrimp basket came with waffle fries and a drink. Lots of shrimp, and they were good. Wife got a fish basket with crinkle cut fries, and she liked hers also. They have small containers of tarter sauce."
"Hungover with a headache is how I entered Millie's on a Saturday morning. Buzzed and happily full of food is how I left. I got the huevos ranchero and the Moscow mule. The food was amazing but the Moscow mule brought me back to life. My husband got the Cajun mess and our waitress recommends the mess if you've never been which is what I will be getting next time. 10/10 recommend for food and service but it was the music that was the best!"
