Michelle D. "I stopped in for a late lunch before hitting the road back to Jacksonville. My niece and her husband told me this was their favorite burger joint in Norfolk. It's eclectically decorated with dollar bills on the wall, bras hanging from a light and two random beauty shop hair dryers. There were also lockers in front of the bar stools at the bar. You can look around for hours and still find something new. Our server was OK, not the friendliest. But the food made up for it! The burger was tasty and juicy. The fries were hot and crispy. Their special house made sauce had me eating way more fries than I typically eat. It's a small spot, so you may have to wait for a table. If you like a good smash burger, be sure to give them a try."

It like literally is the perfect setting for any environment. Our waitress was extremely sweet and helpful. She made sure she tended to our table and answered any questions that we may have had.. in the moment she was unsure about certain things she did not hesitate to double check and ask questions! The burgers we both had were ok, we finished them but dont think I would return to have again. The fries were overly browned on the outside but partially raw on the inside, so very unpleasant to eat. The dining area is small and clean about 4 tables and surrounded in art befitting of the theme. The experuence wasnt a wow."

Jodie M. "80/20 is one of the best burger and appetizer spots and the best part is that they're open late! You can either parallel park on 21st St or if you're lucky, you can park in the lot behind the restaurant. Easiest street parking would probably be available on 20th St. The appetizers are fantastic. Every appetizer I've had has been good but I keep coming back for their spinach and leek dip and their mozzarella sticks. The dip is creamy and flavorful. You can get your fries topped with the dip! The mozzarella sticks are thick and have the perfect cheese pull. You can dip them in the marinara or an Alfredo sauce. The burgers?! You really can't go wrong. All of the ones I've had have been amazing. Down to the one covered in puff pastry! There are lots of options, you can do their regular burger, a meatless burger, or even a bison burger! Not only do I recommend this place for late night eats, a casual lunch meet up, or delicious dinner, but they have good brunch too!Service is good; I get what I order, my box, and a check. It's a very chill environment. Big dive bar vibes but one step up in casual dining"

My ice cream was very reasonably priced - coming from Phoenix, AZ, it actually felt quite cheap. It was also very tasty. Service was decent - not great, not horrible. One of the staff saw me snapping photos and approached me to share a bit of history and showi the waffle cone machine. I really appreciated that, and it made a big difference in my experience with the establishment. They also have binders with old photographs and facts about this and other old diners in the area. You have to go outside to get to the restrooms, which isn't ideal but maybe that's in line with the authentic old-school experience!"

Sara C. "Gourmet Burger Bistro has THE best burgers in Hampton Roads. That's it, that's the review. Just kidding. :)The owner, Major, calls himself the Burger King, and it's a well-deserved title. With the location, it seems like your average burger joint, and it's anything but that. I tried the Major Way, which the menu describes as "a hand-pressed patty topped with American cheese, smoked pork bacon, grilled onions, finished with lettuce, tomato, and our house-made DRIP sauce." Basically, it's my dream burger. The meat was so perfectly cooked, the onions caramelized just right and I love a good sauce! Plus, on my first visit, Major gave me and my bestie some of his sticky wings on the house. He was super friendly and you can tell he takes pride in his business. If you're looking for a good burger, get on over to Portsmouth now!"

It's been a hot second since the last time I have been to Hawaii. Hubby went to meet his west coast team (most lived Hawaii) and a childhood friend of mine that lives out there now. 2. Aloha Snacks creator got his inspiration from his honeymoon. Chef Jesse competed against Bobby Flay in Beat Bobby Flay. In which Jesse won. I must say, with my kid being a fan of the show. 3. And bringing the west coast foods to the east coast. 4. Funky, fun and relaxed vibe here. In my humble opinion, this place has brought awesome west coast vibes to the east coast. Cassie F. "Bottom Line: Don't ever hesitate! I have to say I almost did.My son lives nearby and I came for a visit. He picked the place. We pulled up and the parking lot was empty. It was a Thursday around 4:30pm. I looked at my son and said "I don't know about this...."He said "I do. Let's go!"He was right. Walking in, the first thing I fixated on were the tables. I want one sooooo bad. They are like backyard picnic tables but with American Flags painted on them w a super gloss lacquer. Beautiful. The lobby was spotless. Also empty. We stood and read the overhead menu board. We were there for burgers so we didn't get distracted w the sub options. My son had the Mafia w Steak, Onions, Peppers, Mushrooms, Chicken Fingers and cheeses for 11.99. I had the Westsider w Chicken Fingers, Mozzarella Sticks, Blue Cheese Dressing, Mozzarella and BBQ sauce for 11.99We also had a side of Mozzarella sticks and an order of Large Fries. The Burgers were delicious. That's all you need to know. In my opinion the burger options are overkill and a novelty. That's not to say we both didn't eat every single bite of our burgers and the toppings.Me personally, next time I would order a burger w cheese onions, mushrooms and save the mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers for the sides. My son loved his Mafia exactly the way it was. Last time they went my other son had the 716 and he said he wouldn't change a thing either. The fries were good. We basically took 80% of the order home for the next day. My son has eaten here several times and I can't wait to go back and have another burger. The people running the place are perfect. No nonsense. "Wadda ya want?" Kind of people. The place started filling up as we sat and ate. I guess we were just early. My son said some days it's packed. We talked about trying a sub next time but I don't know if I can pass up such a delicious thick juicy burger like that!Bottom Line: Don't pass this place up. Jamar S. "In town for our daughters track meet, we decided on a whim to swing by Barrel 17 for something to eat. I got the specialty burger of the night, The Vibe Burger - cooked perfectly medium, with caramelized onions and fried mozzarella on top. It was delicious. I got a side of onion rings that were good as well and casually dipped them in their burger sauce. . Being greedy, I also ordered the Wagyu meatballs & fried mozzarella. From what I tasted, it was good, but I was so full off the burger that I couldn't enjoy it like I should've, nor could I come remotely close to finishing my meal. My daughter got chicken tenders & fries that she liked a lot, and my Wife got a steak salad that she raved about, not only because it was cooked at the perfect temperature, but because it came with so much steak, and was so filling. That on top of really good service from the bartender, who was attentive to our needs despite the crowd - they were very busy - I just didn't feel it because everyone from the wait staff, to the cooks, to the bartenders seemed to be working in unison. Did I mention my Wife left happy?Happy Wife, happy Jamar. 5 Stars."

There's a menu board right inside where you wait in line (if there is one, there was for us) and choose what you'd like. You order and pay at the register, and then seat yourself. They call your number on your ticket when your food is ready. I got the crab cake sandwich which was a 10/10. Really great. The crab was lump and it wasn't all filling, which happens sometimes with crab cakes. I finished most of my sandwich, but it was a pretty big portion. Carter, our server, was super nice and since it was our first time, she informed us of all the house made items that they make and how they pride themselves on making as much of their food from scratch.Since I knew I wanted wings, we quickly ordered the Bubba's Famous Traditional Wings, 18 count, which is served with 2 sauces. The Raspberry Chipotle sauce definitely stood out and Carter mentioned it was a sweet and smoky flavor but we decided on the Honey Chipotle BBQ and Hot sauce along with a half order of the Onion Rings. The Onion Rings came out first and they were the best I'd ever had from a restaurant, hands down. They were coated with seasoning and were very light and crispy! The half order only came with 6 rings but next time, I definitely will be ordering more. The wings were served soon after and were delicious!!!! The Honey Chipotle BBQ was sweet but had a wonderful, smoky, BBQ taste and the Hot wasn't like any other Hot wing I've ever tasted. Our order was rung up by a nice staff member who advised us not get additional curry chips on top of our fish and chips meal because it would be too many chips for a bigger additional charge. He instead offered up just getting the curry sauce to accompany our meal at a lower cost. I think others would have taken advantage of that opportunity to profit off of naïve customers, so we truly appreciated him for not letting us blindly order from the menu and keeping it fair! Terry T. "Mister Jim's is an original tenant of Wilson Village Shopping Center at the corner of South Battlefield Boulevard and Johnstown Road in Chesapeake. They have been a staple of the Great Bridge community since 1972. To stay in business for fifty years they have obviously been doing a lot of things right. They've managed to adapt with the changing times over the years and greatly expand their menu offerings from their original twelve items. They now offer everything from submarine sandwiches (including Philly-style), burgers, gyros and deli-style sandwiches, square pan pizzas, salads, boneless wings, appetizers and soft drinks to cookies and more. They offer indoor dining at comfortable booths and outdoor dining at tables under cover of a roof. There is no table service indoors or out. You place your order at the counter then pick it up at the same counter after they notify you via pager it's ready. At my last visit there were no paper menus available but there are large LCD menu screens overhead. Staff is always friendly and professional. On my last visit, they were very busy and it took about thirty minutes for my order to be completed. I didn't complain because I could see how busy they were and how hard everyone was working. As the young lady handed me my subs she apologized for the delay and offered me a free cookie. I really appreciated the gesture and my wife and I really enjoyed the cookie. I have patronized Mister Jim's many times over the years, mostly orders for delivery to my job but occasionally I'll swing by the restaurant and pick up something to take home. The food is always fresh and delicious. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Chicken Sub, Mister Jim's Special Sub, Tuna and Cheese Sub, Chesapeake Jubilee Sub, Sloppy Joe Sub and City Hall Burger. I also love the fresh cut fries and the onion rings. They have a nice variety of cookies, they are huge and really delicious. My favorite is the lemon blueberry cookie but I don't see it on the menu now so I don't know if they still offer it or not. Other cookies I love are the white chocolate macadamia nut and oatmeal raisin. Cookies are sold singly, in packs of three or by the dozen. They're all fresh and delicious.
