"I went to Selden Market today hoping to buy something to eat at Vegan Culture. I saw this little plant and tea shop and it caught my eye. They have many plants and a variety of teas. The guy at the counter even made me a Chai tea. I picked up both the Happy Belly and the Daydream teas. However, I didn't see the caffeine label on the front until I started to prepare my tea tonight. I am sipping the Daydream tea right now and loving it I will probably have this again tomorrow morning."

"My first time here- stumbled across the restaurant by accident. Somehow the universe makes sure that you are where you need to be. They seem to be out of a bunch of stuff, so I went with the Classic Crispy Chicken sandwich, and made it Deluxe (+$1.50) because I enjoy vegetables on my sandwich. Made a combo of it, because who doesn't like curly fries?!? Got an iced green tea, which was pretty good as green tea goes. The sandwich was excellent- everything I want in a fried chicken sandwich- crispy, hot, juicy, slightly spicy. The fries were tasty and fresh. Ingrid was very helpful to a poor old first-timer, and the total before tip came to $11.98, so it was cheaper than the other places nearby. I'm not even worrying about the calories because I walked here! TL;DR- hot, fresh, delicious lunch in 5 minutes for $12 plus tip. How can you go wrong? I will definitely be back."

"I love the Ube boba and the mochi doughnuts here! It's a special treat when I'm on that side of town and am able to stop in and grab a boba and doughnut. My favorite flavor is the black sesame. Something about it is just sooo good! The churro was a bit sweet for my taste, but still good. I love the texture inside. So soft and pillowy. The can top for the tea is easy to drink from if you decide not to use the straw. I come here every now and again... and I don't know if it's a fluke, but both times I've been rang up for one extra doughnut. The first time I asked for two, and she rang me up for 3. I didn't notice until I paid and asked for the extra doughnut instead of my money back. She'd already given me my two, but I chalked it up as a mistake, which happens. The last time, it had been awhile since I stopped by. I only ordered one and she rang me up for two. I saw it this time and it took a little bit before she understood. She only got me one donut this time...so it made me give a little side eye. Just make sure you're only rang up for what you want."

"Stopped by in the middle of a rainy Saturday afternoon. There were only a few customers so the wait was not long. We ordered a sweet potatoes beef hot dog and a hot Cheetos cheese dog. For drinks we grabbed the employee recommended Pina Colada and a Matcha. I have never had the Korean Dogs before and enjoyed them. To me it was like having some crazy carnival food and was perfect for a "once in a while" taste. We also had a couple of the donuts and they were very good. Highly recommend."

"I have been a fan of Whale Tea since they popped up in Hampton Roads a few years ago. First, it was through a Yelp Elite event in Virginia Beach and then they opened up shop in Yorktown. Most recently, they appeared here in Hampton Roads where Kung Fu Tea once stood. Sophia and I have been here a few times already. So how does this location compare to the others?After ordering food from Chick-Fil-A, we drove here to order treats. Just like the other locations, you can order from a kiosk station which transits to the counter and from there, your selection will be ready. And the staff did greet us once we walked inside with pop music playing. My selection was a large creme brulee Oreo milk at 50% sugar with tapioca pearls. It was pretty good and full of flavor. The reason why it's a 4-star review is due to only one kiosk station on site. The other two locals have two stations you can order from just in case you walk in besides ordering online. It does add time to your wait, but at the end of the day, your product does come as requested.Overall, not a bad stop. As always, we'll pop in for some much needed desserts. Till next time :)"

"11/30/2024: Grand opening morning - one word to describe the drinks, atmosphere, staff/customer service: perfect. It was great and a pleasure seeing the Owner and his Team as well! We got two drinks: one large Moonlite Lychee Tea with regular (100%) sugar and regular (100%) ice and one large Strawberry Lemon Tea with regular (100%) sugar and regular (100%) ice and strawberry toppings. Both drinks were delicious and refreshing. I kid you not, but my partner literally went in and got another one after we walked to the vehicle. I highly recommend this unique tea/coffee establishment. "I Love this place!! The owners are really nice, and the kids are sweet to. The crabs are good, and they season them well. My mom loves them, my son loves seafood, so he goes for the shrimp and crab or just the shrimp boil. I love the fried catfish good seasoning and they are a pretty decent size fish. The crawfish are good, but one of our favorite's is there calamari especially when they are fresh. Lol They never quite make it all the way home. It's a eat-in restaurant for a few people nothing huge but enough seating if you wanted to stay in. The place is okay on the inside. During the summer I know they have to be burning up in the back, because it's a pit of you know what in the front most of the time. But they be in there like champs pushing out that good seafood. Keep it up!! We will continue to support their business. Hmm wish they delivered to my neck of the woods. Or had one in my area:-{ Be blessed y'all."

It was only a couple of blocks from my hotel, and I was a little hesitant when I initially walked in, and there were no customers. The person behind the counter told me that I had just missed the lunch rush but they're normally very busy so I decided to stay. I am very happy that I did it.Oh, I had the Ramen and Gyoza. "Overpriced for the quality of the food. I definitely won't eat here again since there are much better and reasonably priced Vietnamese nearby. I ordered a smallChicken pho ga with beef broth instead of chicken broth. The noodles were overcooked and gummy, and it was mostly noodles and very little broth. The broth tasted pretty good. Not the best I've had but decent. I also got shrimp and pork summer rolls. The pork tasted like it sat uncovered in the refrigerator and had no flavor/seasoning. I guess I'm spoiled because most Vietnamese restaurants I've tried marinate their pork so it has a nice flavor. The shrimp were cut super thin, and there were no discernible herbs in the rolls, so that made them really bland. The sauce was super sweet and needed sambas but all they had was sriracha. My husband ordered a seafood soup and said it was okay. For drinks we only had water. The atmosphere is like a quick service place but they charge a sit-down restaurant price. For the two of us we spent $55ish without the tip. Totally overpriced for the experience and food."

"The Whale Tea is a splendid addition to the small shopping center on Nimmo Parkway adjacent to Red Mill Commons. The store adds more culinary and culture variety to the now sprawling utopia that is southeastern Virginia Beach. I tried the brown sugar milk tea with boba and it was delicious. I had it with only 30% sugar and was still able to enjoy the drink. They have a plethora of different tea options so I'm excited to go back and try different flavors."

"Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's begin!.I seen this restaurant on a number of occasions, even went with one of my co workers here when they grabbed a bite but I didn't go in because I had plans to eat something else.. Fast forward to today, I decided to go and give them a try. It was not a bad spot, it was a fast food takeout with a few tables to dine in if you wanted to eat there! It was different menu and meat items to choose from,so from what I saw the menu was decent for a takeout place. I ordered spicy bourbon chicken combo which came with your choice of white/fried rice, different kinds of egg rolls, I chose chicken which was pretty good, and your choice of beverage which was a can of soda or a medium sized drink of choice, I chose sweet tea. My only complaint was the fried rice was in some sort of crock pot so the temperature of my fried rice was not hot the way I like it and my bourbon chicken wasn't hot enough ( temperature wise ) either. I personally like my food hot to the point where I have to blow on it before actually eating it!. I know some people may think that is a little weird but I can't explain why, I just do. Don't judge me!. The have an hibachi grill to cook your food on, or should I say heat some of your food on because some of the food is already cooked from what I saw, so they are just warming it up on the hibachi grill. At least what I ordered anyway. Some meat may may be cooked from raw but I didn't see it. So in a nut shell would I come back, sure but I would try something different in the menu to see what I possibly missed on my first go around, so stay tuned!."

"Was it to good to be true.. another poke spot?! of course, I had to get my sneak peak of this hot and new restaurant. Honestly, these boba and ramen places are popping up like flies.. This one is located at College Park Square.Beautiful and eye catching is how i'd first describe the place as I walked in. There are many tables to sit in. The place is brand spankin new and clean. The kiosk where u order your meals, fit the fast casual theme. Touch screen ordering makes it convenient.. but I still had to ask several questions so I could better understand what I was ordering at the menu. I approached the counter to order. She reverted me back to the touch pads.. as their only system of ordering. She was the only worker there to man the food handling station and the register. She was sweet.. After a glance of the poke menu, I decided to go with the medium bowl that has 3 protein options and sidea and my friend got the seafood ramen. We ordered at the touch pad and had it printed and paid at the front register so we could claim ourselves a military discount.The ramen came out in a timely manner.. so did my friends boba. My poke came a little longer than normal.Upon sharing, the first glimpse of the seafood ramen bowl looked familiar. It looked appetizing, but it was missing the steam that usual comes out when u have a hot bowl of ramen. I was a little disappointed in the temperature but I still kept on eating. The egg had a nice yolk to it. I was not sure why the yolk was browner in color than what I'm used to. But it still tasted good and it wasn't over cooked. The soup contained fish cake slices, green onions, crab stick and the little shrimps. I give it 2.5stars on flavor and presentation. The poke bowl, I ordered salmon, tuna and (spicy)tuna tataki with the sushi rice. I was impressed by the flavor of the poke sauce. The garnishes and toppings included were: edamame, cucumber, masago, crab meat, furikake, greenonion and cilantro. First bite.. the fish was more chewy than normal. It had a fishy flavor that did not go so well going down my throat. Ugh.. I wasn't sure if I was being o early critical but boy it wasn't at all fresh. I gave it to my girlfriend to try. She too found the poke unappetizing... I felt unhaplg knowing we both only had a few nibbles of a not so flavorful poke. It lacked freshness, and it needed some salt and maybe more time of marinating. The cuts of fish were no good. I ended up returning the poke to get a refund. No stars for the poke. The boba, my friend and her almond flavored boba was good. The coconut in it was rough but the boba was prepared well. Sadly, she found some piece of *PLasTic.... in her boba as she went to consume it. A quarter away of drinking and already leaving the restaurant left us even more disappointed with minus a star to the restaurant.Overall they scored at 2.5 in stars. Forappearance 4, quality 1, cleanliness 3 (due to plastic in boba), taste 2."

I ordered a poke bowl and crab rangoon. They have a pretty big menu. They have more than the other place like this one. WInk wink. They have sushi and ramen and poke bowls and all sorts of apps and more. After you order and pay, you sit and wait. Your number is on top of your receipt. They have some cute seating areas with comfy couches and chairs. They also have tables. Food came out fast and the portions were generous. I was surprised how much I liked the crab rangoon. Great price and generous order. The poke bowl was fresh and exactly how I ordered it. They were busy and hustling but still friendly with a smile. I would definitely go back and would recommend."

Since we were in the area last Saturday, we decided to stop by to see what's been going in.We were greeted by the staff once we walked in. One thing that I noticed was they added a self-service kiosk which saves time for staff taking orders directly. As far as inside goes, everything looked pretty neat like before. And music was playing adding a calm-like vibe throughout. A few people were inside either dining in or ordering to-go. My selection was a large Strawberry Yogurt at 50% sugar with tapioca pearls added. This was very good. Not too sweet even with the pearls added. Sophia ordered an Ube Mike Cream and enjoyed herself as well.Not really much to add here, but once again, Joyu came through for us before we made the trek home. Hopefully, we'll be back soon. "Jelly Ball is one of the OG boba spots in the area! They've been around since Lynnhaven Mall had an upstairs food court. Now, their location is near T-Mobile, a big kiosk where the carousel used to be. My personal favorites are the Cantaloupe pearl (boba) drink, and sometimes I'll get the smoothie version and add boba too. They have pearl drinks, smoothies, milk shakes, teas, and you can add boba to all drinks if you choose. There's a small extra charge but worth it. They have tons of flavors, definitely too many to list. See pics of menu. My mom LOVES their halo-halo (says it's the best in the area, so many fixins'! Prices are very fair. They also have a location on Virginia Beach Blvd, and a location in the (hopefully) soon-to-be-open SK8 House (family entertainment center,) just down the street from this Lynnhaven mall location. I also enjoy the little extras that they sell. Grab yourself a Jelly Ball pin or pop socket. Sometimes they have Kinder Eggs or other goodies. Last time we went, my mom even got filtered masks. He was super helpful and, without missing a beat, suggested we try the popping pearl flavors since it was our first visit. Both kids were all in for that, and he happily brought over samples for them to taste. How awesome is that? It made their day, even though they didn't end up getting drinks with the pearls!We ended up treating ourselves to two drinks, a delicious pastry, and a trio of bao, and let me tell you, it was a feast! First up, the Cherry Danish was a hit! My kiddo loved it and declared it "just what she wanted." I went for the Taro Milk Tea with boba. It was sweet, sweet, sweet! Normally, I'm all about that sugary goodness, but I'm trying to cut back a bit. Still, it had the rich taro flavor I was craving, and the boba was nearly perfect--firm and delightful, just how I like it! My other child chose the Cookies and Cream Frappe and loved it so much that he finished it in a flash--then bravely tackled mine too! Next, we dove into a trio of baos: pork, roast pork, and taro. They all had amazing flavors! I did wish the pork bao was cooked a bit longer so it was warmer, but the other two were spot on. The pork bao was sweet, while the roast pork had a savory kick. And the taro bao? Soft, sweet, and filled with a delightful taro filling that had a fantastic red bean texture--yum! Overall, the customer service was top-notch, and the wait time was great (though we were the only ones there at the time). The café itself is cute and clean, and I found myself wishing I had an extra stomach to sample more from their extensive menu. We had a fabulous experience and can't wait to come back for round two!"
