"Food truck menu... Brisket to seafood to burgers... Great staff and facilities... It's also a marina!! All the snacks and drinks you need to start your weekend!!"
"Esoteric has such a vibey atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for a night out with friends. The staff was super friendly from the moment we walked in, making us feel right at home.We came just for drinks, and let me tell you, the espresso martinis did not disappoint. We ended up getting a round for the table because, clearly, we're all big fans. I've tried my fair share of espresso martinis, and this might just be one of the best in Virginia Beach. Creamy, smooth, with just the right kick. definitely a 10/10.We didn't try any food this time, but the menu looked incredible. I couldn't help but eye the spicy chicken sammie, and I'm already planning to come back to give it a try. It seems like the kind of place where you can't go wrong, whether you're just grabbing drinks or sitting down for a full meal.Overall, Esoteric nailed it. Great vibes, and awesome drinks. If you're in VB and looking for a spot that checks all the boxes, this is it. Can't wait to come back!"

"Margarita of the month was fantastic! So happy I got to try it! Place is super cute and fun inside! Food is a do it your own menu! So, the menu is brought out to you and you fill the card out of what you want to eat which is fun! Came for music bingo and it was a great time! Bartender is friendly and welcoming as well!"
"After a 9hr drive from NJ, we (luckily) stumbled upon this gem. Get a cup and an RFID bracelet; pick your tap(s) and get charged by the oz. Great bbq brisket nachos, staff is friendly, as are the local patrons. Check it out for a laidback meal, some beer, and good convo. If you're really lucky, the locals will tell you where the local watering hole is for some good live music and spirits after dinner."
"The service can be a bit slow... but the good is very good. We normally order the Ruben's w/ onion rings or their potato wedge things. The Brussel sprout appetizer is absolutely delicious. We don't normally eat in anymore due to service and sometimes it's a bit loud but we will order out. They are open late so my husband can pick up on his way home from work and we can eat late night."
"Finally went back after 4 years and Nest didn't disappoint. Got seated in an enclosed area where it was nice and toasty. Lindsey was our sever and started off with a pineapple mimosa and mango orange mimosa. Ended up ordering shrimp n grits again and seasonal stuffed toast w/sausage and home fries. Would've gave it 5 stars again if the shrimp n grits had the andouille sausage like the first time, they used sausage patty instead. I will be coming back to try the other menu items!"
"Just a really pleasant spot for a good meal and a drink (or two lol).I popped in for dinner at the bar. Very large and diverse beer selection on tap. If there's nothing that strikes your fancy on tap, there's an even larger selection of cans and bottles. Had a couple of really good IPAs and was very satisfied. Food: I mentioned to my server what I was in the mood for and ended up with the Vikings Blod sandwich. It was bacon cheesy perfection. Great beer and food? Already winning. The menu seems geared towards fancy grilled cheeses but they also have some appetizers and build-your-own charcuterie boards.Service: as I was at the bar, I ended up having a good chat with the bartenders. Along with being very helpful with both food and drink selections, it was great conversation. Winning again on enjoyment/experience.The place has a chill ambiance about it and outdoor seating is available as well.Overall, great experience and would highly recommend it for food and drinks."
"This is one of those spots that I'm mad I am JUST finding out about! To be honest, I didn't even come here for the cider. I came here because AVOCARGO FOOD TRUCK was supposed to be here today. They take vegan food to an entirely NEW LEVEL! But I digress, let's talk cider!!Can fermented apples even be sexy? Welp, Sly Clyde did just that. I am NOT drinker; I don't usually like alcohol --never did and never will...and here I am tossing back an Apple Cider Sangria! Was I missing out on Apple Cider all this time? Wow!! Sly, can I call you by your first name because at this point, we are family! Look for me at the family reunion, Clyde's!! This sangria cider just made me a regular!Sip this cider with an Oyster Mushroom wrap and sweet potato egg rolls from that Avocargo food truck and this was a meal fit for the gods!!"
"Fried brussels sprout appetizer (3.5/5) - honey vinaigrette added a nice sweetness but I suspect also messed with the crispiness. The 'sprouts were deeply deep fried so I expected them crispy and tender but they were a bit more soggy and al denteSteak frites (4/5) - good flavor on the steak and great fries. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. I asked the steak to be med rare and it ended up being closer to med well, but the meat was still not too chewy. Fries fish (3.5/5) - standard fried cod. Batter was nicely golden brown but the fish was a little dry and left some flavor to be desired. Bread pudding (5/5) - an outstanding dessert. With the vanilla ice cream accompaniment, the bread pudding was a warm melt-in-your-mouth treat that made me forget about the brussels sprouts for a moment. Not overly sweet either, and a decent portion. Well done!Strawberry and peach ice cream (4.5/5) - another great dessert, the seasonal flavors of strawberry and peach blended together for a unique and very pleasant taste. Mostly strawberry but the additions of peach bits in this house-made ice cream tied the flavors together. I just wish it was a little strongerService/atmosphere (5/5) - great porch seating with screen doors and all. Friendly southern hospitality, all total about as good as it gets. i decided to round this one up to 5 stars for the outstanding desserts and service as well as the decent value."
"This was our first stop after getting BBQ in Richmond. I got a flight and there were plenty of options to choose from, including non alcoholic options. Sit outside if the weather is nice. Decent brews, good patio, great spot to just hangout."
"Delicious food with great service! Have been here several times and the food is spot on every time. They have some of the best appetizers, just delicious. The Ruben croquettes are to die for, unique and just delicious. And please try the stout chili, chicken tiki masala dip and beer cheese. Sandwiches we tried, truly enjoyed, and recommend: corned beef brisket, amazing; fried eggplant, unique and very flavorful; honey ham and cheddar, simple but so good, the bread is key; dog street and lamb burgers, the tzatziki sauce on it was so good. Very cozy atmosphere as well, definitely feels like an authentic pub."
"Super friendly staff, adorable place! Not a lot of seating so call ahead. Also, different food trucks so check that before you go too. The live music that plays there is top notch! Definitely worth the drive."

The service has always been great. The big maple and pickle chips--Delicious. The location and that water view, just a sweet little spot. So happy to see this place turned into something like this.

This place is always amazing. I was going to get the Pear and Burrata but the waitress said that they had a mussels special and could not pass that up. I'm a sucker for seafood and it was so good. They are generous with the bread and the sauce is so delicious. 10 out of 10!!

john! what an amazing bartender/server. he was friendly, helpful, and quick. the drinks were really good. we all got happy hour margaritas, and they were all delicious. john suggested the habanero lime, and it was a hit at our table. the food was plentiful and very tasty. my party of seven had a variety of things, and everything was good. we had HUGE burritos, carne asada fries, nachos, and a make your own bowl. no one was unsatisfied. would definitely go back.

Both of our lunches we pretty darn good. Service was a bit slow and they don't have a lot of indoor seating so be ready to get wet if it rains. Fries were food and so were the brisket nachos.

We were in search of food and stumbled in here on a Sunday morning. What a pleasant surprise! Service was top notch. Food was perfect! No salt, pepper, or hot sauce needed. It was quiet with a couple patrons when we arrived. Never thought about brunch at a Tap House but we'll definitely eat here again when we're in Chesapeake.

Enjoy the feel of the restaurant; chill, low key upscale-ish. Our waitress was nice and helpful. She convinced me to get the jerk lime chicken tacos which is a popular choice. I'll be honest; I wish it had a little more food, had some, seemingly random tortilla chips, but the taste of the tacos was great! And that's what matters.

Great selection on drafts. All the snacks were good. Especially liked the pickled okra & pickled cauliflower & hummus. 10 out of 10. I did a cider/mead flight. And hubs got a sours & stout. Staff was super friendly and I loved the vibe in their. Such a cool spot.

First of all, who knew there was even a place that existed like this in the area???? It's soooooo quaint and the staff was amazingly friendly and didn't seem bothered by the millions of questions I asked about how they came to be lol. Amy, one of the managers, cheerfully told me their story and let me know that they don't serve food there but there's always a different food truck there and patrons are also welcome to being their own food or order delivery there! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming! It may sound silly but when she told me it was "just cider" I honestly had no idea I was about to feel tipsy. I asked if there was alcohol in it because o was beginning to feel something. lol! I can't believe how clueless I was about the brewing of apples! I won't spoil it by telling you here, take some time to visit this hidden gem! Pictured is a delicious meal I ordered from the food truck that was there but the drink was their "Doughbuoy" and let me tell you it was DELICIOUS!!

"Very great place. We come here for work gatherings often. You can't beat good pizza and great beer. Very spacious and relaxing."
"In town for our daughters track meet, we decided on a whim to swing by Barrel 17 for something to eat. I got the specialty burger of the night, The Vibe Burger - cooked perfectly medium, with caramelized onions and fried mozzarella on top. It was delicious. I got a side of onion rings that were good as well and casually dipped them in their burger sauce. . Being greedy, I also ordered the Wagyu meatballs & fried mozzarella. From what I tasted, it was good, but I was so full off the burger that I couldn't enjoy it like I should've, nor could I come remotely close to finishing my meal. My daughter got chicken tenders & fries that she liked a lot, and my Wife got a steak salad that she raved about, not only because it was cooked at the perfect temperature, but because it came with so much steak, and was so filling. That on top of really good service from the bartender, who was attentive to our needs despite the crowd - they were very busy - I just didn't feel it because everyone from the wait staff, to the cooks, to the bartenders seemed to be working in unison. Did I mention my Wife left happy?Happy Wife, happy Jamar. 5 Stars."
"A hot downtown brunch spot I've been meaning to try. The buildings in the area give this place great ambiance. A friend and I got Taylor Swifts favorite number 13 as our table. I did a traditional mimosa since I was going for an authentic brunch. They had a huge sweet and savory brunch selection. Today I chose the sweet option and went for cookie dough pancakes with a side of home fries and sausage. My friend had the breakfast burrito and home fries as well. We were NOT disappointed. The food came out hot off the stove and completely scrumptious. The service was superb with suggestions and plenty of check ins. I wish the lighting was a little better, but I'll definitely be back, maybe go for window view seating."
"The Dr. Gonzo burger with sweet potato fries was AMAZING. The margarita was also a banger. The service was efficient despite it being busy during the evening. It was a fun and inviting atmosphere since it was also trivia night. Good vibes with good food!"
"We are in town visiting family and stopped by tonight to play pool and drink a beer. They had a really good dark beer that I liked and two nice pool tables. We had a great time.I ended up leaving my purse behind and they tracked me down on social media and I was able to go back later that night and pick it up.They have great beer, music, pool tables and they are a friendly and honest bunch. This is a business worth supporting."
"So out shopping on the way back home, hubby challenged me to find a place we had not visited. Passing through the area, this was just 2.7 miles out of our way. Quick bite the back on the road. We were greeted when we arrived , offered menus at the register, and the nervous hostest immediately asked if we were having drinks. Self-serve beer was available on the beer wall and sold per ounce. Mention waa made of the card used. They would hold my credit card to and start a tab and make sure my beer tab was paid. This was separate from our meals. We were told to sit anywhere. Hubby found a seat, our waitress quickly said her name, and we were offered drinks. They arrived, and we placed our meal order. Appetizers wings , hubby grilled cheese meal came out at the same time. 2 mins later, my dry cheeseburger came out. There is no ambiance, just beer, food drinks, and dark lighting. No pickles for burgers. We ate. I visited the self serve beers twice. We were presented a check for $102. Beer charges of $43. Hubby inquired about it the charge for just 2 half glasses 1 mostly foam.Nervous hostest had no clue. Said she would call over our waitress. Glitch in the system. So now am waiting to see if the $10 charge on my card will drop off since she placed it on the meal bill. Decent people is a pass for me."
"Popped in here for the first time after some shopping for some wings and a pint. This place is very cool! Lots of TVs and LOTS of delicious beers. I asked the bartender what his 2 favorite IPAs are, and we ended up getting both and they were delicious. Ended up leaving with 4 packs of each. For food, we got the wings, pretzel and drunkin brat sausage. The wings with buffalo sauce were pretty good, the star is the sauce. And it's not too spicy. I think they were baked, not too crispy but still good. The pretzel was soft and yummy, and with the beer cheese sauce and an IPA = winning! The drunkin brat was so goood! Extra o's! The roll looked and tasted homemade, nice and warm and soft. There were small wavey potato slices on the side that were a nice addition. Overall, food was very good and the "casual" atmosphere was perfect! They had plenty of tables, and ordering the beer and food from the bar was super easy. Bartenders were awesome! We'll be back for sure."
"This place was the cutest little outdoor area to bring my pup! There is plenty of seating and things do to such as cornhole, some outdoor games and even a little sand box for little ones. The dog park area where you can let your furry friend roam without a leash is something you have to pay for or gain a membership for, so we ended up not doing that and keeping our pup with us in the seating area. There is a little window on the side of the building where you can order your food and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. I was super surprised how good the food was. We ordered the Philly Burger, BBQ Chicken Flatbread and the Fry Flight (not pictured). All were SO GOOD, and portioned pretty well! It definitely was a little pricey but given the quality of the food, I couldn't be mad about it. There was a good selection of beers as well. Definitely would come back to plan more pup dates with friends/family!"
"I visited this location in honor of my teen daughter's friend birthday celebration. I believe it was the third Saturday night in December 2023. We arrive a bit after the start time, but was still able to sit with our party without reservation. My daughter and friend sat at a long booth with individual chairs on the other side. They seemed to be enjoying themselves, while the grown ups dined at the other end of the long both with a few added chairs. My chair was added in the middle, kind of in the way, but they made it work.I wanted a particular tequila, but was told they were out. I ordered my second choice and it was all good.I ordered the salmon meal with a side or two. My meal took a while to arrive to the table, but the server did recognize the long wait and apologized. Nevertheless, others received their meals and I still waited a bit longer. Well I guess good things come to those who wait, because my meal was on point! My daughter and one of her friend's mentioned they did not enjoy their meal at all. Well sorry for them, I tore mine up!!Parking was not too bad. I was able to find street parking a few steps from the restaurant. I imagine a parking garage is nearby, or a large parking lot, but I did not have to search high and low for a spot. And the street parking was free. The vibe of the restaurant is nice. I can see why the young ones love somewhere like this.If you are into music and a high vibe, check them out!The restroom could use some TLC, but I loved the lighting and mirror inside.Have fun and enjoy life :)"
"Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Great variety of hotdogs and both that I tried were delicious. My favorite was the bandito but the bacon wrapped lord of the rings dog was really good too. The fried pickles were also cooked perfectly with a great breading. For a cheap price, I was a huge fan. I will be coming back."
"When the wife says its time to go shopping, your first suggestion should be the outlets. I am happy spending my time at the L.A.B. (Little Auxiliary Brewery) Taproom. Alewerks's L.A.B. offers a majority of Alewerk's great beer plus a few small batch items made literally in house. Do you want to pack some beer? The taproom has plenty of packaged beer to give as gifts. They have some snacky items, but no kitchen. If you are like me you will see it as the oasis located in the desert of outlet shopping."
"REALLY REALLY good food!Ruben A+ Would recommendOnion rings - they were good, just not my style.kids had macaroni cheese bites and chicken tenders, they liked them, they were just a little on the small side.everyone else was really happy with their food, from the asian salad (very big sized btw) club sandwich & cubancant wait to try again"
"I'm glad I don't live closer because I would come here too much! Our family who lives in Virginia Beach suggested this spot when I said I wanted seafood while at a track meet at the sports center. Boy, they did NOT steer me wrong. This unassuming metal diner-like building could easily be overlooked for the gem inside. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Nicole, our server, was the absolute best!I started with a pomegranate lemon drop. I'm not a fan of pomegranate but this cocktail was very tasty. It's a tad tart but that's why I love lemon drops. I chose the seafood trilogy with coleslaw and black bean salsa for my late lunch/early dinner. That had to be the best thing on the menu. The flounder was thick and fried to perfection. The shrimp were huge and also fried perfectly. The crab cake was void of much filler and was great with the best remoulade I think I've ever had. I was taken aback that the salsa was cold initially but the flavor made up for the shock in temperature. The coleslaw was also good. I did not have room to touch the cornbread. I recommend this spot without any hesitation!Pomegranate lemondropSeafood trilogy with coleslaw and black bean and corn salsaNicole"
"***3.5 stars***AP is your typical off beach oen air sports bar. The staff/bartenders are great. They offer a full bar but are limited. Great place for decent bar food and drinks. The shark bite drink is pretty good. A little grenadine is added for the "shark bite" effect. Worth stopong by if you are on the mainstrip."
"Cool little spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Nice choice of beers and the food is much better than your typical bar food. If you want a cocktail, you will have to visit the establishment upstairs, but since I was only drinking beer, it wasn't a factor for me. Will be adding this place to my favorites!"
"Amazing local spot. I sat at the bar upstairs and had a beer with the seafood dream. That dish was amazing. Cool vibes and everyone was super friendly to an outsider. The service was spot on also."
"Foods great, drinks are affordable, bartenders are FANTASTIC!!! Tiera and Samantha rock! Dude I'm the kitchen is a rockstar! The chicken salad is fukin amazing and so is the fried flounder sandwich, friendly locals and karaoke on the weekends equal a fun night! One of the few places you can still smoke in too"
"Vegans rejoice! Yes, this is where you can get a huge VEGAN pretzel (just have them hold the butter and you got yourself delicious hot treat.) One of the employees showed me the ingredients; I've done the research, you are safe. Enjoy!"
"Nice selection of beer....loved the BeeLine chocolate honey brown. Lots of outside seating. The staff was was pleasant. Certainly worth a post Covid visit to sit inside."
"Fun selection and friendly staff! Can get pretty loud in the main room if it's busy, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. Really like that you can get food delivered from some of the neighboring restaurants!Personally love their selection of seltzers - If you're not a big beer drinker, the staff will help you navigate the options!"
"I stopped in for a late lunch before hitting the road back to Jacksonville. My niece and her husband told me this was their favorite burger joint in Norfolk. It's eclectically decorated with dollar bills on the wall, bras hanging from a light and two random beauty shop hair dryers. There were also lockers in front of the bar stools at the bar. You can look around for hours and still find something new. Our server was OK, not the friendliest. But the food made up for it! The burger was tasty and juicy. The fries were hot and crispy. Their special house made sauce had me eating way more fries than I typically eat. It's a small spot, so you may have to wait for a table. If you like a good smash burger, be sure to give them a try."
"Basic Beer is a neighborhood bar in a really neat, historic building. They play loud music and have bar food. Our table got pizza and charcuterie. The service was fast and the argula and prosciutto pizza was slamming. If this is your vibe, check it out."
"Great beer, great atmosphere, great people, great service. This place is a hidden key and a real winner!"
