Bubba’s Shrimp Shack

My mom, wife and myself all had the shrimp and flounder basket, and were quite happy with the quality, portion size and affordable price at Bubba's Shrimp Shack. The hush puppies are good too! We will definitely be back to this locally owned place!

Monday 1/22/245:30pmNever heard of Bubbas Shrimp Shack and I love seafood so why not try it. Upon entering I immediately noticed only 1 customer inside. I was helped immediately. The cashier was nice and explained the menu. I ordered the medium shrimp & chips. That came with 7 shrimp. I'm pretty sure she said the small came with five shrimp. I also substituted my fries with fried okra. Sweet tea as my drink. $14.72She brought my food to me. Fried okra was good as was the shrimp. The shrimp were pretty big. The breading on the shrimp...I don't know if it needed to be cooked a little longer or what but the breading easily fell off the shrimp. Nonetheless, it was still pretty good. The hush puppies were OK. Nothing bad, but nothing exceptional.The restaurant is casual and family friendly. Reminds me of Skrimp Shack. This place is about 30 minutes away from where I live but if I was in the neighborhood I'd revisit. But not so good that I make a special trip out there.

Today I visited Bubba's Shrimp Shack. It's in a convenient location right off of Mechanicsville turnpike. The shop is a little difficult to see from the road unless you are looking for it. It's a nice little place with some outdoor seating as well as plenty of indoor seating. I ordered the Fish and Shrimp tacos and a big fish sandwich. I didn't quite expect the tacos to be as big as they were, they're big! The fish and Shrimp tacos are really good and the breading on the shrimp is light, which shows just how big the shrimp are! The fish taco has a large chunk of fish and a mango style coleslaw. I thought both were very good and I would definitely come back for more shrimp tacos! The big fish is gigantic! It's basically a whole fillet of fish folded in half on the bread. Not for the weak of heart, this sandwich will fill you up. I took half home. The fish was good and they give you two different types of tartar sauce. The first being regular tartar and the other being a spicy sauce like bang bang sauce, both were good.The shop was clean and the cook was visibly wiping things down after having cooked and the staff were immediately cleaning tables upon people leaving. Not sure if it was the owner or manager but a nice guy stopped by inquiring about the visit. Over all I will definitely come back especially for some more shrimp!!!

Good food! Nice fast food seafood option for Mechanicsville. Good selection of fish and sides.

This is the business that took over the scrimp shack when they left mechanicsville If you liked the other I think you'll like these guys. Simple fried seafood choices mostly. Generous portions priced well for seafood Checkout the $10 lunch specials going now. If your good with a self serve restaurant that makes a pretty good fish sandwich or shrimp basket for a reasonable price this is your place. The sides are tasty and served simply Go and try it out you won't be disappointed

I give Bubba's Shrimp a 4 rating because I thought the food is good for a fast food restaurant. It was hot, tasty and most of all, not over salted. The wait was not long. The counter staff were polite and efficient. Time for a return visit.

It's the old Skrimp Shack and the food isn't that much better. The breading falls of the shrimp and the fish is not flavorful. I have rich taste buds and I think they can do better. The service is okay, as you are greeted when you walk in. No change in the decor but it seems like people enjoy sitting inside to eat. I went 2 different times to order something different and it's not worth a 3rd visit.
