When I travel for work, there are few moments when I can stop and relax. So today, before I headed home, I took some time for myself and headed to Breakfast Bar. It's about a 10-minute drive from the oceanfront (where I'd been staying for the week), tucked neatly into a strip mall off Lynnhaven Dr. And 100% worth the effort to find. On the door is a sign that says, "Come Inside, You Are Family." On seeing that, I knew I'd found something special. My server, Barbara, was smiling and generous and welcoming, and made sure my every need was met. My coffee was always topped off and she made sure what I had ordered came out one thing at a time, so each thing would be piping hot and just right as I dug in. So let's get to it! I had a cup of their Galacian Broth, which I could eat all day long, every day. So delicious, satisfying, and hearty. Next was the Mallorca Bread with Argentine Chorizo Gravy. Imagine biscuits and sausage gravy taken to a whole new level. SUBLIME. Then? Then, friends, came the Cuban egg roll (the thing I came here for). It's what would happen if you took a Cubano (that glorious sandwich on egg bread with its succulent pork, mustard, and pickles), rolled it up, and fried it. It was so good, I took two home to Philly with me. I was able to chat with the owner, Marilyn, who told me Breakfast Bar has only been open for three months and they are already expanding into the space next door. The restaurant was so well run and thought out, I would have bet they've been around for years. If you're in the area, whether it's for work or play or you live nearby, do not miss this spot. Just wonderful in every way.

If you have nothing better to do on a Saturday or Sunday, but spend a few hours with the restaurant then by all means stop by, but if you're in a rush to go somewhere and want to get your day started and have something to eat, I would suggest you go somewhere else. Seen this on Instagram it looked like it was gonna be amazing. Apparently the one on Instagram is a totally different location even though it said Virginia Beach so right from the gate it got off to a wrong start because they didn't have a very big cocktail menu like the one on Instagram. The place is very small, maybe five or six tables. They had more help than they did tables but the service was very, very slow. We ordered what they would consider an appetizer that never made it to the table till almost the end of our meal. We were both very hungry and didn't order anything very difficult so we thought, but it took us over an hour and 20 minutes to get our food by the time our appetizer made it to the table we were almost done and pretty much over the whole experience, the appetizer and the description sounded amazing, but it did not live up to its hype. The appetizer was Birra eggroll, which had no flavor and not what you expected at all if you know what a birra taco is. Unfortunately, the food was just average. I probably would not recommend going back. The woman inform us that they were going to be expanding soon which me and my friend thought it was kind of odd because they really couldn't even handle the small space that they currently have. So again, if you have nothing better to do for a couple hours and want it to have some food at a local place and by all means go, but I'm sorry on a Saturday or Sunday. I don't have two hours to wait for food when there are other things that I would like to do.

A friend and I decided to try the Breakfast Bar for a her birthday. We arrived around 10am on a Sunday and since the restaurant only had 7-8 tables, we did have to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The hostess did mention that we could sit outside but the weather was a bit chilly so we opted to wait for indoor seating. Our server greeted us as soon as we were seated and informed us of their popular items and items that weren't on the menu. Since we love espresso martinis, we were hoping to be able to order one but they have very limited alcohol drink options, they only offer mimosas and wines. After looking over the menu, we decided on the Birria Eggroll, Mallorca French Toast and a Ham Omelet with Mallorca Toast. Our server was very nice but she checked on us quite often while we waited for our food which was a bit much lol. It took about 40 minutes for us to receive our food and received the Birria Eggroll (which was the appetizer) 10 mins later. We're not sure why it took so long but the food was pretty decent. The Mallorca French Toast was my favorite, it didn't even need syrup. The Ham Omelet wasn't bad but they used deli style ham and I wasn't a fan. The Mallorca Toast was different. I didn't care for it with the omelet but I'm sure it tastes great on a sandwich. We weren't fans of the Birria Eggroll. The beef was very scarce and dry and it didn't pair well with the spicy cream sauce. The server mentioned that they were expanding the restaurant which is a great idea. Many people left because of the wait time. The food was okay but if I return, I probably try a sandwich instead of the breakfast.

As soon as I walked in the waiter addressed me and sat me right away. It's a small place definitely not a good place to have brunch/lunch with more than 4 people. The restaurant is Hispanic fusion and I was surprised to know they had coquito and they had different flavors I got a coquito flight 3 flavors pistachio, pumpkin, regular, they were delicious. I had a pastelon it was good definitely fresh. As for my actual meal I had their brisket sandwich the fries and the side sauce were good the coleslaw was different in used to a sweet flavor but this was more tart not good by itself but when I added to my sandwich it merged well with the sweet bread they used. I definitely needed napkins to eat that and I don't know why I dislike having to ask for more than 1 napkin. But I did eventually. For the coquito flight, 1 pastelon, and brisket sandwich I believe I payed 44$ before tip. Kinda pricy. But it was a good spot, I would definitely stop by again to try other items.

Service and food has been great. Saw this on Yelp and we needed to stop by Lynnhaven and I'm glad we did. We always do Cracker Barrel or Mom and pops. Sometimes you have to look outside the box. Keep your money local when you can! We will be back. They just opened 4 months ago.

Delicious!! So I got the Mallorca bread w cream and it was divine!!!! I also had the corned beef hash empanada and was surprised at the deliciousness. I had a birria egg roll which was ok, definitely packed with meat, didn't dazzle me but it was good. Definitely a barrage of fun flavors and highly recommend you check them out. The ambience is decent and the service very attentive, you can tell they take pride in the spot. Be aware that the best stuff wasn't listed on the menu so be sure to ask about other things bc they are many.

Just finished our first experience at Breakfast Bar and let me tell you, 5 stars all around! 5 stars for service and food. Our waitress was so nice and explained all of the different food. We had several questions and she was happy to explain it all. We ordered the Mallorca bread with Bavarian cream and one with different cream cheese spreads. The bread was delicious and I really enjoyed the tamarind cream cheese. The open faced omelette was so flavorful. We also got the breakfast empanada, the Cuban egg roll and the corn fritters. (And a few mimosas!) What an experience. We enjoyed every moment.

Love it here. The food has not disappointed me yet. I've eaten inside twice and ordered take out once.Issue- house salsa for the Zapotec eggs, is so little, it's not enough for the entire meal. I asked for extra and they've told me they had to charge. I mean, if I want more with my food- I will pay for it (but its the same size, eyeballing about 2oz). But for a big dish they should give more. Ventilation is not the greatest in there. I came out smelling like the grease is burnt on my clothes and hair. Inside is very small. They are expanding and that's great for them.

One of the best breakfast/brunch places I've visited! The host who is also the cook was phenomenal, warm and welcoming. She was honest that she likes everything on the menu because it's hers, but asked me questions and made recommendations. There isn't a lot of seating so I can see it being hard to get in as they likely grow in ppopularity. Excollect food!
