Blue Sky Distillery

Stopped in on my way back from spending the day in Smithfield got the sampler which was about seven dollars or so for four tastings. The rum was very good and the whiskey was delicious. The staff was super friendly and the area was clean and open. There was a nice outdoor area as well with some seating under the porch, I imagine this place gets really super lively when they have events as there was a stage and a TV in the corner we will definitely be back absolutely recommend and then next time I come I want to bring home a bottle, but I had already spent too much money in Smithfield

I wasn't sure about visiting, even pulling up it didn't look inviting but nothing could have been further from the truth. I'm so happy we visited. The owners, Kim, Mark and partner, Mike were amazing. Hospitality was genuine. I'm not a straight hard liquor girl but Kim has a few mixers, still I was hesitant but everything was delicious. The vodka and ginger ale was amazing and the spiced rum with ginger ale tasted like orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream (seriously). They even make a spiked iced tea in plastic bottles, so it's beach ready. They went from making only vodka in 2016 to having award winning spirits in 2021! That is incredible when you think about it. When you go there ask how they got started and about their first bottle they sold, ahhhhhmazing. I love this place and I love the owners!

Mark and Kim were the sweetest people we've met in a tasting/tour. You can definitely feel that Blue Sky is something that they are passionate about. And did I mention that they have the cleanest vodka and rums I've ever tasted. Definitely purchased the spiced rum and will bring friends back so they can taste the difference. Homegrown and locally sourced makes the difference!

I stopped in today for the first time. Mark was awesome and took me right into the tasting room. He passionately explained all of their spirits with the samples. I was impressed with the Triple Duce whiskey, and even more excited about the prices for a locally crafted spirits. It's really awesome that Smithfield has something like this. I will for sure be going back.

This was my first time visiting and the owner gave our party of 4 a tour of the distillery area before going to the tasting room. He was so nice and explained the whole process from what each liquor was made from to where the bottles came from. It was wonderful that all their sources were local (Virginia) and the spent grains were recycled to feed livestock on a local farm. All their products had great flavor including the vodka and white rum which I don't normally drink. Their Triple Deuce Whiskey and Flying Dragon Spiced Rum were excellent. Would recommend a tour and tasting to anyone with some time on their hands. It will be time well spent. And they're dog friendly!

A really great place with some great cocktails and amazing spirits. Love their 222 whiskey and their rums are good as well. The spiced rum is delicious and makes a really good drink. The owner is working hard to make it a place that makes great spirits and a good area to relax and enjoy a great cocktail.It should be a place that you should go and check it out.

I've been doing the Virginia Spirits Trail, so I decided to stop by since it was one of the listed distilleries. At first I wasn't sure it was the right place, it was pretty small and located in a water company's warehouse. Nonetheless, I was blown away by the quality of service I received and the quality of the spirits. Even though it's the smallest distillery I've been to in Virginia, it is easily one of my favorites. The owners clearly take great pride in their product and it shows. Not only that, but the prices for their bottles were reasonably priced! I highly recommend visiting and trying their "Painted Pig Smoked Maple Whiskey."

Spur of the moment, my wife and I decided to take the free ferry from Williamsburg to have lunch in Smithfield. Afterward, I noticed Blue Sky Distillery and we decided to visit.Kim gave us a 15 minute education on their distilling process and then we did a tasting. I'm primarily a bourbon drinker, but the vodka, spiced rum, and whisky product they make is fantastic! So incredibly smooth and the word that comes to mind is fresh. Well with the trip!

It's kind of hard to find. (At the end of IWIP Road off Rt. 10 just past the Isle of Wight county line) and housed in the same warehouse as a water bottling company. We found Karen and she proceeded to educate us about the distilling methods they use to make their Dog Star vodka, Blackbeards silver rum (my favorite) and Triple Deuce whiskey. It's a micro-brewery and very small. They have a separate no frills tasting room. Tastings are FREE!!! Well worth the drive.
