This is a pretty underwhelming little park behind Virginia Beach Blvd Birchwood Mall (BJ's). If you know me it's pretty difficult to give any park, or recreation area less than par. But there is just so little here to talk about. The park serves the small neighborhood behind it, I am unsure of the name. It is designed for 8 & under, but really more than likely you will find preschoolers on the equipment. The swings can accommodate up to 10 yrs old easily. My daughter will come here before her dance class if time permits to get a little bit of exercise. The park usually has some amount of debris in it, but by no way filthy. There is only one trash can. Parking is across the street in the Birchwood Mall lot. So be mindful of this when children are crossing the street, it is a road with steady traffic. There are no restroom facilities so plan accordingly. What I find disappointing is the fact not even a small shelter, or picnic table are present. The lack of large mature trees is an issue for shade in the Summer. What they do have that I like is a large lot with a big open area to throw a football, or play a game of tag which is a pro.Bottom line, don't go out of your way to recreate here for sure. But, if you reside in the neighborhood, or in the area give it a whirl. I would bring a ball if you have a child over 8 yrs.
