Lunch at Berrets was such a treat. There was a bit of a wait for a table, so I sat at the bar. It wasn't loud and the people around me were friendly and looking for conversation. The bartender was also very friendly and quick. I got my water almost instantly. The shrimp po boy sandwich was one of their lunch specials and it was way better than I was expecting. I don't think you could even call it a sandwich because there was so much shrimp, I couldn't even close it, so I ate it with a fork. In addition to having the most shrimp I've ever seen on a sandwich, it was delicious and very filling. I also got the potato salad on the side, but the sandwich was the star.

Came to Berrets on a Saturday evening with no reservation. The host put us on a waiting list for a table outside and texted us when the table was ready. We were able to grab a beer across the street at Precarious while we waited. The outdoor seating under the covered patio was perfect! We were able to enjoy some live music, and since we were outdoors it wasn't too loud and we were able to have a conversation without having to yell. They have a good selection of alcohol bevvies, we were very impressed that the Bloody Mary came with a cocktail shrimp! The menu is very seafood forward, to be expected but there is a section of non seafood options. The menu is not very extensive so be weary if you're bringing a picky eater here. We ordered a round of 18 oysters and the wild mushroom orzo. The oysters came with all of the fixins! The orzo was amazing, great option if you're not a seafood person. The breading on the fried tomatoes was amazing and the veggies on the pasta were cooked perfectly. The service was excellent everyone was friendly and attentive. This is a great spot to check out if you're in Williamsburg!

The smell is off-setting when you first enter. However, the hospitality of everyone we encountered was unmatched. Our guest time here so we weren't sure what to order. We ordered (pictures attached). The food tasted superb! Everything we ordered had a delightful taste, cooked with care and presented beautifully.

Fantastic seafood at a very reasonable price. Delicious baked oysters. We had the three different varieties they offered, each one was better than the next. Perfectly cooked halibut that was seasoned well. Service was swift and playful, as my wife and I were in a playful mood. Just great value in a rather busy and sometimes expensive area. Go, you won't regret it!

First off our server the bar tender was great attentive and professional.....my most important issue is being a restaurant specializing in seafood that can't get the food out " served" hot my 30$ entree of salmon and shrimp was warm/ cold as was the grits hard as a rock. My other concern is having seating in the bar area with two doors right next to your tables one door acts as the smoking area in/out this time of year one needs to be locked or heaters added. Over all my entree was awful just glad we didn't get sick and what passes for clam chowder was just thickened potato soup with all sorts of non- sensical veggies and no clams! Drinks were great dessert was good crust on the cheese cake was soggy...

HI visited Berrets this past Saturday for brunch with my homegirl, and it was a great experience! From the moment we walked in, everyone was so nice--from the hostess to our waiter, who was not only funny but also had amazing hospitality. The atmosphere was really welcoming, and the food was delicious. It's definitely a spot I plan on returning to. Highly recommend for a great brunch with good vibes!

Gluten free folks: they do have both a gluten free lunch and dinner menu so plenty of options. My hubby had the gluten free angus burger with a crab cake on top and it was delicious!I had the crab boil sandwich and it was amazing! My kid had a burger from the kids menu and ate most of it. They put extra pickles on (per his request) and the pickles are delicious! The service was great, really liked our server (a gentleman with brown curly hair). He gave us some recommendations of things to see and do in the area since we are from the West Coast. The ambiance was nice, clean and fits with the historic vibe of Williamsburg, although the interior is updated and nice. Highly recommend this place!

My friends and I visited this lovely small intimate restaurant. The restaurant itself was cute and little dark but the ambiance went with the area and the art was so decorative. The service was great. Our server was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious. The she crab would was perfectly seasoned with a good amount of crab in it. The soup was simply divine. I had salmon with grits and asparagus and a peach mango sauce. The presentation was pretty and the meal was really good. A great visit for me and my friends despite the sketchy weather.

After six hours on our feet at Colonial Williamsburg, we were ready for food, and assumed we would be eating at one of the park's taverns. It turned out that the food options were either closed for some special event or closed because they were just closed. A very helpful park employee urged us to skip the park food altogether and head to the north end, where independent restaurants were serving better food at a reasonable price. One we had noticed before was, of course, closed Tuesdays, but when we walked up to Berret's we knew we had found the place. Our waitress Marnie, it turns out, was born on Long Island, but moved out as a child. The decor was perfect for getting us in a seafood mood, and I was quick to check out one of the many craft beers from the area. I ordered brie en crote with grilled shrimp and Donna got a crab cake with the obligatory grits. We always skip breakfast, so we had just enough room left to try the bread pudding with berry sauce. The food was, at all times, a treat for the eye and the pallet. A lovely experience.

We had made a specific reservation requesting a quiet booth the day before our visit. For whatever reason and much to our chagrin, that request was completely ignored. Server was attentive, but the food was a disappointment. Shrimp and grits was "ok" at best but why was it served with beef?? The daily special of shrimp and crab quiche was something less than "ok" although the side salad was reasonably good. The fried oyster appetizer was good - probably the best thing we had. Overall, a disappointment and the special day we anticipated was not what we had hoped for.
