Cozy little Cafe in RVA. Excellent food. Great bartender. Wonderful experience. Will definitely eat there again so please don't go there so we can get a seat

A friend and I stopped into Belmont Food Shop around 9 pm after an event nearby at the VFMA. We didn't have a reservation and chose the restaurant on a whim. They only have a handful of tables; it's a very small, intimate space. We were able to easily grab bar seats (and they have seatbacks, woo!). Our bartender was great, sadly I've failed to recall his name. I already had a drink before our visit, so I requested a mocktail. He made a ginger-beer-inspired mocktail that was really delightful.For food, my friend and I chose to split the Monkfish, and they put it on two separate plates for us. It was well-presented and an interesting blend of flavors. They also gave us an amuse bouche and some bread with an herbal sauce. Their menu changes and is listed on a chalkboard, which is cool. I'd definitely return sometime.

I just want to take a moment and thank Belmont Food Shop for their donation to the American Heart Association RVA Heart Ball 2024. The silent auction raised $56,184 which is the largest amount raised ever. It's so great when businesses are willing to donate to a great cause. Definitely one of my fave restaurants that I visit on rotation and take friends too! Thank you

New to town...walked here after our 1st movie at the Byrd planning dinner as part of date night. Arrived 9:15pm...closed tight. Hours say 10pm. Went to some NY Deli next back by the theater. Hours say midnight...closed tight. Does anyone in Virginia know how to post actual hours. I'm writing this from home at 945pm...as we just moved to area and walked. I'll be sure to pass the word....never trust here. 1 star is too high.

This was our 3rd or 4th visit. Sad to say, It's not quite what it once was. Made a rez at 6pm for 2 on a Sat night. When we arrived, we were seated up against the wall by the kitchen and the restroom (ie the least desirable table) despite having plenty of better seating available. I could understand if we were poorly dressed or didn't have a rez... but neither case was true. Then, they didn't have the wine we selected. They offered a substitute (28% more expensive) but did not offer to match the price of our selection. The restaurant was empty yet the service was inexplicably slow. They forgot to serve bread... but someone from the kitchen noticed and remedied that at the tail-end of our appetizer course. I had the tuna tar tar (good, but very small portion) and the scallops (which were good). Shame to see a restaurant with talent in the kitchen go downhill.

Came here for dinner before heading to kings dominion Halloween haunt. We were lucky to get there early, not realizing how small the place was, and although they were full with reservations the bar had space.We enjoyed an amazing 3 course meal and some wine that we had never heard of but was delicious.We started with the cured salmon and pate ($5 upcharge). Both were very small portions but very tasty in general. The entrees were quail-super little but the corn succotash and quail were both delicious and the corvina which was yummy, flaky and the spaghetti squash was out of this world with flavor.We finished the meal with butterscotch pudding which was fabulous and I don't really like butterscotch and the pear tart which was really good and the perfect dessert for fall.We will definitely be back for this amazing deal.

Pricey but classy. Food is excellent. Service is warm and attentive. Ambience is great. Other reviews remark how this feels like a bit of a hidden secret. And it does. Just one little dining room with a bar and a few tables. Feels private and cozy.

Certainly not what it used to be. I've been going there for years... my last two visits were disappointing. I can understand the price increase on the Prix Fixe, but the portions were minuscule. Obviously the original owner/chef is not at the helm in the kitchen... and i suspect was drunk at the Bar.

Horrible food and even worse customer service from the owners themselves. What a shame to be from Richmond

Very poor service and even worse food. The food is less than mediocre. The owner is obviously not proud.
