Beaver dam park has got to be one of my favorite places to visit in Gloucester VA , the trails are amazing and boat rentals are so cheap and the water is beautiful. A place anyone can enjoy if you like hiking , parks , ducks , and boats.

Good trails for hiking. Nice water views along the trails. Easy to moderate effort. Great location - so close to historic town of Gloucester!

This review is for the trail system (though it looked like the others that were there were boating and/or fishing).I am very happy to have discovered this running spot. Owned and maintained by Gloucester County Parks & Rec, it's a great place to lose the watch and enjoy the reflection and solitude of nature. The multi-use trail, which features challenging hills and sharp turns, is easily navigable and well-marked. There are markers every half mile and in total the trail runs 9.5 miles- from the ranger station off of Roaring Springs Rd. to Fary's Mill Rd. The signage is really helpful to distinguish between the nature trail that parallels the multi-use trail in several spots.I've now been two weeks in a row. The first time was with a friend from Gloucester who knew the trail well. This last time I came on my own, just wanting to get in an easy 10 miles without thinking about pace. I haven't seen others on the trail on either of my runs (though I hear there is some foot traffic on the weekends in the warmer months). Another plus is that while a lot of other trails in the area (such as Newport News Park and First Landing) are nearly un-runnable after decent rains, the trail here is packed down enough to hold up quite well. Also, clean restrooms at the ranger station. Always a plus.

Nice park. Short and sweat. We rented canoes for an hour for cheap and rowed around for awhile. Nice lake. Clean and beautiful. Everyone should visit this place. Note: They only take cash and check. No credit card.

Take a right on Roaring Springs Road coming from South main street and keep on going. The end of the road is Beaverdam Park. Plenty of parking and picnic tables. They have boat, kayak, canoe and paddle boat rentals. The whitcombe lodge is an indoor room that easily fits about 75 people or more. They rent it out on a first come bases. They also have horse trails. There is a little snack/registration area by the fishing docks. They sell snacks, minnows for fishing and rent out boats. They have a sand volleyball court and a nice playground. All around a great place to come with the family.

One of the best lakes I've been to in the area. Great facilities, boats and gear are available for rent at modest prices. Fished the lake and had an amazing time catching and releasing bass, crappie and some pickerel all on a Berkeley squarebull 3.5 in big money (color). I fished off the ledges near points along the shore and in some areas I caught a fish almost every other cast. The majority of the bass I caught were 1-2lbs with one weighing 4.8lbs. As the weather warms up I see this lake getting even better.
