Basilico Pizzeria & Ristorante

We visited Basilico a few weeks ago and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality. The only caveat: the room was freezing. Since it is one tall room for the open kitchen AND seating area, naturally, the temperature is kept low to cool down the kitchen. The splits are overhead blowing down so bring your winter coats!We're originally from the Northeast and we have our own notions of what good pizza should be. We've tried pizza at several highly recommended locations in Virginia Beach and were disappointed. The simple small plain pizza had a thin crispy dough with a great sauce and quality cheese. Hands down, our favorite pizza in Virginia Beach.The salads were excellent! The Basilico Farmhouse had a great combo of candied nuts, Gorgonzola, apples, greens with slightly sweet vinaigrette - it was perfectly balanced. The chopped Antipasto salad was very flavorful. And the portions were unusually generous.I loved the pasta bolognese with its rich sauce with unusual strong burgundy wine flavor. My wife didn't care for it but the we both agreed that the meatballs were exquisite.Overall we were impressed with the quality of the ingredients. This will continue to be our Italian go to.

I really like this little neighborhood Italian restaurant. Super friendly staff with an open kitchen design which allows you to watch the pizzas get made. It's not a very big restaurant so it can fill up pretty quickly on the weekends, and rightly so. I'll start with a couple dishes that I've tried. First up the lobster ravioli. I found that to be an excellent dish with high quality, perfectly prepared pasta. The lobster filling was delicious and creamy. I've also tried to make your own pasta bowl. My most recent was the capellini pasta with meatballs. That is actually my favorite dish I've tried there. I've also tried a couple samples of the chicken parmesan. Also very well done. A quick note about the pizza. The pies I've tried are New York style. And very good for that type of pizza. It appears they do a lot of takeout business with their pizzas as well.

I visit Virginia Beach every couple of years, and we always look for a pizza place while we are here to take out a pizza and enjoy in our hotel room. We couldn't find anyplace to deliver, and that also looked good, then I came across Basilico. The pizza pics looked amazing so we ordered for delivery. I have lived in New York City, New Jersey, Long Island and the self proclaimed pizza capital of America Connecticut. So I am a bit of a pizza snob. When we opened the box I was very excited, the pizza looked amaaaaaazing. Omg the pizza.... Amazing. So amazing. Honestly the best pizza I've had in the area, and I wish I had this pizza at home in CT. It was great. The cook was perfect. It wasn't a soft slice but it wasn't overcooked hard either, it was perfect. The sauce was very flavorful and just enough. The cheese, yes it was perfect. It was gooey and amazing and they use good quality cheese. I'm a one bite kinda girl but I had two slices and thought so hard about stuffing a third. We also ordered a lava cake, which for the price was very very tiny, and not my favorite but that's ok because that pizza was worth every cent. I would definitely recommend this place and when I come back to Virginia Beach, I know where I'm gonna be ordering pizza again! Well done Basilico!

Every time I've visited Virginia Beach I always stop by Kelly and Joe. Staff is amazing the appetizers alone. I definitely recommend this place. Love the food atmosphere great place.

Sooo yummmyy. I've been wanting to try this place forever. It's a little far away, but the other place we tried to order pickup from was too busy so we decided tonight was the night to give it a try. I got the small margherita, well done. Hubby got the big deluxe. Both are delicious. Margherita pizzas are my fav and this one tops the ranking list. It was amazing and so full of garlic flavor. I like a crispy pizza so I got it cooked well-done. I also added two sides of ranch. They were yummy. Def get those. The restaurant is much smaller than I thought. Only a few tables. There was only one server when I went for pickup, but three folks in the back making the food. There were two other gentlemen waiting for their food as well. The server was very friendly. I can't wait to come back and eat many more slices of pizza.

Upon our arrival at the bustling restaurant around 7 PM, we were promptly greeted by the staff behind the counter. Despite the slight busyness, one waitress was managing multiple tables, albeit with a touch of rushed and brusque demeanor. Although she directed an older gentleman to the seemingly available corner seats, we discovered a fair amount of crumbs and dirt on the table upon sitting down. The gentleman kindly rectified the situation while we patiently waited. When the waitress returned to take our drink orders, her efficiency was commendable yet tinged with haste.As we progressed to ordering our meals, we were informed that the coveted mozzarella sticks were unavailable due to technical issues with the fryer, an aspect that could have been communicated earlier to streamline our dining experience. Opting for the bread appetizer instead, we found the seasoned bread to be a delightful surprise, reminiscent of a light and crispy pizza crust, earning it a solid 4 out of 5.Our youngest member opted for the kids' rigatoni with marinara, relishing the flavorful sauce and perfectly al dente pasta, receiving another 4 out of 5. Meanwhile, my husband's choice of the Stromboli with pepperoni and green peppers proved to be a generously sized and satisfying dish for two, although a sharper knife would have been appreciated for easier cutting.As the crowd gradually thinned out, the waitress attending to our table seemed to lighten up, displaying improved service quality. While not flawless, her efforts in meeting our needs and ensuring our drinks remained full were duly noted. Overall, I would rate our experience a solid 4 out of 5, considering a potential return visit especially for their acclaimed salads. Here's to hoping for an even more polished service on our next outing!

YUMMMMM!!!! Delicious Italian food!!!! We have seen this spot open for a while now (maybe a few months?) and have been wanting to try it. We decided to come for dinner on a Friday nite and we were so glad we did. The staff were welcoming when we arrived and they were all so super friendly. Everything that came out was very delicious. Even their soft fresh hot bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. We started out with the caprese salad which was huge and more than enough for sharing. We loved the arugula and roasted red pepper that accompanied the salad. Highly recommend. For our entrees we got the eggplant rollitini, shrimp scampi, make your own pasta which was Alfredo with chicken and broccoli and my daughter got the NY style pizza. All of the food was delicious and pretty big servings. We didn't have room for dessert. The restaurant did get pretty busy as they only have a few tables. It looks like most of their customers order to go. We are so happy they are by our house and can't wait to visit again and try other dishes from their menu. Delicious deliciousness!!!

Second trip here this week! Everything was phenomenal!Garlic knots, Onion Rings, 1/2 Wedge Salad, Buffalo chicken pizza, Meaty pizza.....Service was fast, friendly & informative!The restaurants not large & is nice, cozy & conversational! This will definitely be a regular on our trips to Va Beach!!

Food; Ravioli, was excellent Meatball sub, adequate. Large Italian Bread fair number of meatballs, loaded with fresh mozzarella cheese. Calzone, huge but over cooked. Just okWait staff, excellent!!!! Single person waiting, bussing, host, cashier doing it all exceptionally well 5 Stars for her.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff? So knowledgable and personable. The food? Unbelievably delicious. I could drink the marinara sauce if they served it in a wine glass. Please stop by and grab dinner whenever you get the chance and thank us reviewers later!
