Bar-Q

Delicious!!!! Finally able to try this place again after coming for a Yelp event last May and it was all good just as I remembered! The pulled pork and ribs were my favorite on the 4 meat platter! Others in our party enjoyed the brisket and the sausage. The two sauces are also very good, I prefer the sweeter red bbq sauce and the other one is more of a vinegar North Carolina sauce. The Christmas beans are amazing!!! My favorite!!! The potato salad is also very good and the Mac and cheese. Love their pickles as well! You order at the counter and it didn't take long for the food to be ready. Seating is plenty inside the brewery!

The location is in the Bold Mariner. We came by for beers and BBQ. We ordered the 2 meat platter with 4 sides. Pulled pork, brisket, smack and cheese, potato salad, collard greens, and cornbread. Ok let's get right into it. Pulled pork was very good, served dry for you to put your own BBQ sauces on. Both sauces were very good, 1 mustard base and 1 maple syrup or brown sugar base. Brisket seemed to need more type in the smoker. Needed to use a knife to cut and couldn't pull it apart by hand. That seemed to be a bit tough rather than tender. Greens were real good, Mac and cheese was good, cornbread was very good, and the potato salad was very good as well. We always ask ourselves, would we come back, we would come to the Bold Mariner for the beer. We wouldn't come here just for the BBQ.

Bar-Q is BBQ done right! The ribs are melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the pulled pork is perfectly smoky. The sides are just as good as the mains. Smack and cheese is a MUST, and the Christmas beans literally taste like Christmas. Plus, the staff is super friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving great food and great service!

It has been a year since Sophia and I stopped here for some pretty good BBQ. For the past visits, we've never left disappointed. So we decided to stop by early enough before foot traffic came for the beginning of summer. Good vibes ahead?When we arrived, it turns out they were out of a few things, including my beloved sweet potato cornbread. And they were short staffed due to folks being out, mostly for family vacations. So I settled for a brisket sandwich along with smack-n-cheese which is smoked mac and cheese. The meal itself was good. The sauce that went with the brisket (I believe it was mustard based) was pretty good and the protein was cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese was okay. I've not a big fan of it and I was debating between this and collard greens so I picked the other. Nothing against the staff for this. But I was pretty full due to the beer I had (that'll be on Bold Mariner's review).Overall, a nice visit for both of us. And kudos to the Bar-Q staff member who handled the ordering, prepping the food and taking payments. He was the MVP for the day. We will be back here probably for the Fall. Till next time :)

Some of the best BBQ that I've had up North. The pulled pork itself has amazing smokiness and the brisket just fell right apart. EVERY SINGLE side was so tasty as well. The green beans were nice and crisp with a good kick and the Mac was just bussin. The slaw wasn't heavily mayonnaise-based, keeping it refreshing and light! Definitely recommend

This spot is awesome! It's inside Bold Mariner and we ordered 1/2 ribs and El Borracho sandwich (both pictured) the BBQ sauce on the ribs is fire, not spicy at all. My kid demolished all the ribs in record time. The sandwich had pulled pork and sausage on it, super yummy. The coleslaw is sweet and comes through nicely. The pickles are fantastic and I could eat those with the bbq sauce all day. Service is order at the counter and they were busy but still turning orders quickly. Ambiance as I mentioned, it's in Bold Mariner so you can order a drink and BBQ at the same time just from two different registers. I will come back for the BBQ, not so much for the beer.

Love this bbq spot in a local brewery. What more could you want? They have beer, wine and cider along with the meats.

The collards and beans were good, but my burger was too raw for me, and you could not request the burger to be made your way. So I will try again but not the burger. And they ran out of ribs and chicken, and she said an 1 hour wait..

I ended up at Bold Mariner with some friends and saw that there was Bar-Q inside. I ordered the PB Burger which was topped with peanut butter, pork belly, jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, and red pepper jelly. It was interesting enough to try and was delicious! I also got to try the potato salad and sweet potato cornbread. It's a bit on the expensive side but very good food. I did enjoy the atmosphere. It's a nice place to have a few drinks and good food with friends.

Definitely in my top 3 places bbq spots in Hampton roads. From the flavorful meats and the excellent customer service I would definitely recommend this place.
