How have I not been here before???? I work so close that my Jeep doesn't even have time to start dinging at me that my seatbelt is not on. I can walk here it's so close. I am definitely going back. It has so much of the same items that my favorite Farmers Market has but I can go on my lunch hour. I don't have to get up on a Saturday morning early and make it down there before the crowds. They have loads of fresh veggies and fruits - of course. Seafood. Nuts. Soup. Sauce. Candy. The prices are about the same as any other farmers market. They were super friendly and told gave me the lay of the land and what was fresh. Yup...this is going to be a regular stop for me. So convenient.

Across from Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, the seasonal B & L Farm Market sells fresh produce, seafood, packaged items (like dressings, jams, honey), dairy items (cheese, butter, Oberweis ice cream $12.50/qt), eggs, baked goods, Mannino's soups and sauces, and plants/flowers. They also have seasonal items like a pumpkin patch and Christmas trees. -- The Experience --They have their own parking lot with a indoor/outdoor covered market area. The market makes use of all of the walls, has well-spaced aisles, and has clearly marked prices. It is easy to navigate and access. The produce is varied and all looked to be in good condition. You could get a lot of your shopping done here! Staff were friendly and helpful. -- Produce --Some of their crops include cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, and zucchini. They have fresh herbs and sell them by the bunch (cut to order). They also bring in produce from other local farms and further from other states to have a wide offering of fruits and veggies on any given day. Some of these include green & red peppers, potatoes, eggplant, asparagus, yellow squash, onions, Granny Smith apples, oranges, pickling cucumbers, kale, spring onions, white corn, pears, peaches, grapes, watermelon, lemons & limes, and seasonal Pungo crops like strawberries and blueberries. The produce prices seem on par with other local VB farmers markets.-- Seafood & Prices --Some of the local VB farmers markets have seafood vendors with more affordable prices than that of B & L, but some of their seafood is of similar pricing. For example, Eastern Shore oysters for $45/100 count at others versus their $60/100 count. Jumbo lump crab $32/dozen at others vs their $34.99 and others' lump crab $22/lb vs their $28.99. Wild salmon $15-17/lb others vs their $18.99. Tuna $12-17/lb others vs their $18.99. Flounder $12-17/lb others vs their $19.99. Shrimp $12.75-13.75/lb others vs their $14.99. Little Neck clams $10/25 count others vs their $20/25 count. Just something to keep in mind. -- The Purchase --The Muscadine grapes were delicious! The cucumbers were good and tasted garden fresh. We also enjoyed the green peppers. The oranges were a bit dry (we got them for a % off; there's a section marked "the uglies" with discounted prices). The peaches took a bit to ripen but were very good once they did. The lemons were juicy and made for an excellent homemade lemon curd! Will purchase more in the future!-- UPick Flowers --Beginning in about July they have U-Pick flowers ($0.25/stem for zinnias and wildflowers; $1/stem small sunflowers; $2.50/stem large sunflowers). -- Storytelling --Seasonally on Tuesdays they offer story telling for children. It runs from April through the end of summer from 11-11:30am. Such a nice touch!-- Hours --Their seasonal market operates 7 days a week. They are open approximately April 1st and close around mid-December. * Spring hours: Mon - Sat 10am-6pm & Sunday 11am-5pm. * Transitional hours (from fall to about the weekend before Thanksgiving): 10am-4pm. * Winter hours (Thanksgiving till end of season): 11am-5pm. * Seem to be closed on government observed holidays. Also close early on other holidays like Mother's/Father's Day and Easter. -- Cash & Credit --They have a $10 minimum for credit cards and do not accept AmEx.-- Things to Note --They have plastic hand baskets you can use while shopping. They use plastic bags, so remember to bring your reusable bags!

I've always liked this farm stand but appreciate it even more now with the awesome steps they took to allow us to buy from them safely during Covid phase. I placed my order over the phone. I paid through an email receipt and they have it set up to drive up and they bring it to your car. I ordered and picked it up 15 minutes later without having to leave my car. They have wide variety of vegetables, fruits, plants, NC BBQ, Amish butter, eggs, peanuts, local honey, shrimp, and more! Let's support our local businesses and this one I recommend!

Lovely farm stand in the heart of VB, so glad someone is bringing the Stoney's vibe back. Tomatoes are fabulous! All the produce is fresh and they keep it as local as possible. Lots of yummy goodies made by local businesses to grab and go.

I was here with my two daughters today. My younger daughter who is 15 went to the register to pay for the plants we were purchasing when the cashier proceeded to tell her she looked like she was wearing a night gown. I am not sure when it became appropriate for someone in a service industry to comment on the appearance or attire of a customer. Their job should consist solely of providing customer service Through polite interaction and helpful knowledge and if they don't have this to offer they SHOULDNT SPEAK. Whoever is in charge of this farm stand should properly train their employees to avoid further insult.

Found this little gem today. Love the atmosphere and the fresh, quality produce. Prices are a little high but worth it compared to supermarket.
