B-52 Smokehouse BBQ and Lounge

I was in Hampton for my son's AAU basketball tournament, and this restaurant popped up in my Facebook mentions as one of three very good places to dine at. It said online that it closed at 11 PM, so after taking my son back to the hotel room for a shower, we ventured over to this restaurant, arriving somewhere between 8 and 8:15 PM. We opened the door to the restaurant, only to be greeted by one of the workers letting us know that they were closed (the flashing neon sign said "open"), as they couldn't accommodate any more customers. So, I never got to sample the cuisine, but I still feel that having a sign that says open when you're really closed leaves a lot to be desired.

Moldy buns Bought a groupon for this restaurant since my boyfriend and I love to try new restaurants in our area ( who wouldn't like to save a few extra bucks along the way?) We travel 40 minutes to try this bbq place that we saw pretty decent reviews for. When walking through the door we were greeted by the owner with a question .. " Are you paying full price or have a groupon?" We looked at each other with confusion and told him we had a groupon. We sat down in the booth section to avoid the tacky chairs with wheels. We were handed a " groupon only" menu that had only 2 items for lunch. They were out of chicken so there was no other choice but to get a fish sandwich. The fries served with the sandwich did not taste fresh. They tasted as if they were microwaved. The fish was actually pretty tasty.. until I noticed MOLD on the buns. My boyfriend called him over and explained to him the problem and all he said was " I would show you the pack of bread .. I just opened it" with no remorse shown we left. Thankfully I got a refund from groupon and filed a complaint about this business. Will not be returning.. would you?

So, we definitely came at a bad time for these guys. They were just getting back from 3 days off and were out of almost everything. Despite my husband giving me the eye, we decided to stay. We were absolutely the only people eating here the entire time we were there.Hubby got the 1/4 rack of ribs and I got the beef brisket. We both had 2 of the 3 sides available; side salad and greens. The ribs were cooked nicely, fell off the bone and were not tough at all. Really did a nice job cooking those ribs. The flavor was so so. I wasn't a huge fan of the BBQ sauce they use. The beef brisket was very fatty. Half of the meat was fat but the parts I ate were tender. Again, I prefer a less tomato-tasting sauce. The greens were spot on! Both my husband and I really enjoyed those. Tender and not at all bitter. The side salad was whatever. Some veggies and cheese, good but not anything worth really talking about. Nice standard side salad.I was really looking forward to sweet potato pie but they were out of that too sadly. I had to take an extra star off for two reasons I will list below;1. There were people LITERALLY doing drugs in the parking lot. I would NEVER bring my children here or come after dark. 2. I had the most awful bubble gut afterwards and then got sick. From the food? No idea, but my husband told me after the fact he saw boxes of meat sitting on the counter when he went to the bathroom. I feel like this place has awesome potential. They can definitely cook meat! Sadly, not someplace I think we will be returning.

Came to Hampton to explore and was starving... I found this place and left full. I got the half rack of ribs, atomic dog ( how hot dogs should be made) and some wings. 1. Food was great. Wings fried perfectly, ribs fall off the bone, and the atomic dog was out of this world. I would have liked a little more seasoning but I understand to be careful for other's pallets. The atomic dog is something to try. When you see it on the menu your next thought will be, "why hasn't anyone else thought of this?" 2. I met the owner, Avery. Great guy, veteran, and answered any question I had and doubled check to ensure everything was great. I went on a Saturday at 4pm. I was the only customer there which normally gives me a red flag, but I am glad I stopped. I do wonder how this place is at night, it would be a nice place for "hand dancing" ( a forgotten art).

We happened upon B-52s from a Groupon and since we were shopping close by. What a neat place! The decor makes you feel like you are in a lounge and the music was great. We ordered the nachos which were plentiful and delicious. The meat has so much flavor and it's moist not dried out like some BBQ. The best part of our visit was the owner. I've never met a nicer restaurant owner. You can tell he loves his business as much as he loves his country. Thanks for a great dinner! See you next time we are in Hampton!

The service was fantastic, and the food was even better! I wish that I knew about this place years ago. I live 45 minutes away...I will definitely be back.Get the mac-and-cheese!

I was lucky enough to find B-52 stopped at Tradition Brewing after a Yoga session - the perfect opportunity to fuel back up! I had the Chicken wings and fries; the wings were crispy and the breading wasn't too heavy - very flavorful and would absolutely have them again. Pricing was more than reasonable and I can't wait to see them stopped at the Brewery again, I want to try the whole menu!

The last time I visited this place was in 2016 so I decided to stop by for a bbq sandwich and baked beans today. When I ordered they did not have any baked beans so I had to settle for hand cut French fries. I also ordered a slice of pineapple upside down cake and a sweet tea. When I received my order the sandwich was significantly smaller than what I remember buying before. The sandwich was great but the fries were okay. I wish they would keep menu items consistent.

My family and I came here to eat at this veteran owned restaurant and the food was amazing!! Everything tasted fresh and was seasoned really well. If you haven't been here yet you are really missing out! Oh and no matter what you do, do not leave this restaurant before you try the collard greens!! Outstanding! We will definitely be back!!

This was a nice restaurant, quiet and friendly and simple. The menu was limited, with only a few options for dinner, but all the food we tried was very tasty and the portion sizes were plenty big. I thought the macaroni and cheese was especially good. I'd like to come back and try the lunch options, which were not available at dinnertime and include some good-looking sandwiches.
