Awful Arthur's Oyster Bar

Very casual atmosphere and the food was exceptional!! I had the shrimp and crab bake, so so good!Others and our party of 7 had the steamed shrimp and crab, swordfish, blackened mahi - all were very satisfied Our service was great as well

We had an amazing experience at Awful Arthur's! Our server was great - friendly and attentive. The restaurant was busy, but we only waiting about 10min for a table. The food was delicious! My dad was over the moon about the oysters. My crab legs were steamed to perfection. I didn't have to fight the shell to get the meat. The portions for the dinner entrees were huge. Everyone left feeling full and happy. There are plenty of options for people who don't love seafood, but it really was some of the best seafood we've had. Definitely give it a try if you haven't yet!

This was one of the best meals my family had while visiting the Outer Banks. There is a bar and lounge area upstairs where you can get drinks while you wait. I got a frozen pina colada which was pretty tasty! They originally told us 1 hr 30 min - 1 hr 45 min for the wait, but it ended up being closer to 50 minutes.I got the clam strips with fries and hush puppies for my sides. The clam strips were delicious! They're different from most other places with a unique seasoning and breading. The hush puppies were nice and big. They were crunchy on the outside but a little sweet inside. Some of the best we had all trip. The fries were also good. Nice and crispy but still soft on the inside. I would definitely come back here!

After spending the whole day on the beach in KDH, we decided to give Awful Arthurs a try which is located right across the street from Avalon Pier. This restaurant was very busy, and we had to wait a little bit before being seated. We walked over to the pier, which is a pretty cool spot to explore at night. We started off with some frozen cocktails (I got the strawberry daiquiri and my boyfriend got a hurricane). Both of our drinks were super yummy We ordered the oysters and hushpuppies to start, which were both delicious! I got the the crab cake sandwich, and my boyfriend got the garlic shrimp & crab. I have to say, I loved the garlic shrimp & crab and ended up stealing more than a few bites of his food. We ate everything that we got (we were hungry from a full day at the beach). Overall, this place deserves a higher rating on here, it was one of our favorite meals in the Outer Banks!

Service was awesome, wings are to die for! We are willing to make the drive back *just for the wings*. Seriously, best we've ever had!

Delicious. Good environment. It has an upstairs with windows for a great view during the day or night.

Always great even late on a Sunday night right before close! Oysters are always fresh and they have great burgers and the best service.

Good Food, Good People. Probably 4.25 overall bc I would appreciate more fresh catch options and more drink options but tbh thats a me problem.These dudes were shuckin oysters non-stop, taking orders, delivering orders, loading and unloading the steamers constantly. Needless to say, they are working! But they keep their smiles and bring that energy. I enjoyed my visit and would come back.

Nice atmosphere, service was great, food was fair to good. My only issue was the clam chowder was thin and runny as I prefer a thicker base. Plenty pieces of clams were in the soup and flavour was very good. Prices are reasonable. I recommend giving this place a try.
