Atlantic Dentistry

After numerous visits we find....Staff is disorganized. Prices vary from patient to patient for same services, no follow-through on important issues, "cash" payment for 10% discount is CASH only, no check. No empathy for patients who have low pain tolerance (jokes made about it). Never seen on time. Maybe grew too fast too soon? A bit arrogant.

Let me begin by saying I am not an employee here and I have always enjoyed going to the dentist. I've had everything from fillings to root canals and never been scared even once. That aside this was my second visit to Atlantic and I think these guys are some of the finest of dental teams I've used in a long time. Everyone is so nice, very attentive, empathetic to any issues you're having and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend them and look forward to a long and rewarding connection with them.

Wow! First dentist visit I actually enjoyed! From the phone calls with Betsy to the warm greeting from Robin, I felt at home. The hygienist was the best I've ever had-thorough, knowledgeable and personable...too bad I don't recall her name! She was fantastic. The dentist whose name I misplaced too, was incredibly friendly, professional and took the time to truly care about me and my mouth. Bravo Atlantic, Bravo!

Pay attention to all claims filed to your insurance! When I decided to log into my insurance account and see what was going on, I discovered not one, but multiple fraudulent charges for work they did not perform! They also did not file claims for routine care that is most definitely covered by my insurance, choosing instead to bill me in full. I have requested a sit down with the main billing specialist multiple times over the last several months, and every time I get unprofessional rude little girls answering the phone who want to pretend to know about insurance claims arguing with me. I have requested repeatedly to speak with a manager...and that too has never happened. Unfortunately, now I am being forced to bring out the big guns and go after their practice.

In OBX on vacation and got toothache. Called and they got me in same day. Saw Dr Thompson. He was amazing. Great Dr. Great human being. Took care of my problem temporarily and gave great and honest advice for future resolutions. Entire staff front to back were friendly helpful and great to deal with I highly recommend this practice and Dr Thompson

I personally had a horrible experience there (a lousy job on a crown), and also now my friend just did. I will never go back. My friend scheduled a cleaning and, after doing xrays ($282) and getting an "oral exam" ($108), they refused to clean his teeth and said he needed the deep cleaning ($1,100.00+) which they "did not have time to do today". X-rays were no different from 2 years ago when they did a regular cleaning then. THIS IS A SCAM and he could not afford to do this and didn't even get his teeth cleaned the regular way. He asked them, can't you clean my teeth the regular way today and talk about this in 6 months - and they said NO! So, now he has xrays and no dentist to clean his teeth after driving 1 1/2 hours there and spending $30.00 on gas and $390 for NOTHING! He didn't need xrays for nothing! All dentists refuse if you don't have the xrays, so who is going to clean his teeth now??? He does NOT need a deep cleaning - that is total BS. He has literally only had one cavity his whole life and is over 50! He even has his wisdom teeth!!!!! Let me reiterate - the appointment was clearly for a cleaning, clearly stated - not an oral exam (they always burn you for the xrays but not an "oral exam" and then be told to spend $1,100+ on a FUTURE cleaning. Yes, he was a returning customer. They are also listed as a "supposedly free dental Medicaid clinic" - wonder how much Medicaid is spending on DEEP CLEANINGS nowadays~

The dentist was arguing with me over an elective procedure and told me I was not telling the truth about why I was not willing to on with the teeth straightening procedure. I don't like being called a liar. my wife and I will be taking our business elsewhere. this one very nice practice has forgot how to treat people.

On vacation and was suddenly struck with a toothache. Was able to get an appointment with Dr Marshall within 24 hours. She and the staff were wonderful. Dr Marshall diagnosed my issue and gave me antibiotics. I was able to finish vacation and see my dentist when I got home. So pleased to have a good experience while away from home. Thank you!

Fantastic service and care.I somehow chipped a tooth at the gum line one evening while on vacation and quickly went from vacation happy to sad and miserable. The sharp edge rubbing against my cheek made it hard to think about anything else, so I spent the evening researching the best dentists on and near OBX. I ended up contacting Atlantic, who called me promptly the next morning and fit me in before lunch.I went in thinking I would most likely just get a temporary fix to hold me over until I could get back home to my dentist, who I trust. Instead, I decided to get a permanent repair from Dr. Gunther Heyder, who they refer to as Dr. G., presumably because thee are two Dr. Heyders at the practice. The decision to go for the permanent repair was my decision. I was not pushed at all, but Dr. G. conveyed such competence that I didn't see why not...and I have been very happy with the result.Even better, everyone with whom I dealt at this practice was fantastic. Seriously. From the person on the front desk to the techs to the doctor to the insurance processor. Each one was friendly and professional. I really expected to be treated as an inconvenience as an out-of-town tourist who would not be a regular patient. Instead, I had the exact opposite experience.Cheers to you all!

I was on vacation in the area and had an infected tooth from a lost filling. I really thought that I was going down for the count. They were able to work me into the schedule the morning that I called and made sure that I was taken care of (even though I was not a local).The receptionist was awesome (friendly, welcoming), the dental assistant was awesome (super efficient yet interested in what I had to say) and Dr. Alex was just as good (he took the time to explain to me what was going on). He was honest about what he could and could not do (since I was only in the area for a week). A prescription for antibiotics and a regimen of Advil/Tylenol was all I needed for now.Two days later and I feel good enough to continue to enjoy my vacation. I wish that I lived in the area because I would choose this office for my dentist.
