Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads

Our youngest daughter is attending her first year of preschool at the Armed Services YMCA and our experience so far has been nothing short of amazing. From the first day of school we have noticed that all of the teachers and staff from top to bottom have an absolute passion for teaching and caring for children. Since our daughter has been enrolled in Operation Little Learners, we have seen an overall improvement in knowledge and social interaction. As if the passion with teaching wasn't enough, the extra events such as Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas program, and daily photo's really allow you, as a parent, to feel involved with your child's everyday routine. This is truly a place with elite academics, caring teachers that love the students, and character development in each student. Without a doubt this is the best school we have ever been in!

I love the services offered by the Armed Service YMCA.My family takes part in "Operation Little Learners" which is an interactive online educational program for parents and their little ones to enhance child development skills. Operation Little Learners (OLL) give parents the chance to be the primary educator. OLL provides fun and engaging activities and resources. Gives parents and children more ways to bond and spend time together. Arm service YMCA has many different programs, events, and resources for military families. Their website is easy to navigate and they always provide you friendly and helpful service.I recommend Arm Service YMCA programs.

Armed Services YMCA Hampton Roads Operation Little Learners program has been such an amazing experience for my son and I've been able to play an intricate role being side by side with my son guiding him through interactive crafts, learning experiences and great field trip adventures. He has grown so much since attending his first session. Now in his second session he is saying his ABC's, colors and 123's. Mrs. Margarita makes learning so much fun. We are truly grateful to have her as a teacher and look forward to her classes each week! I am truly thankful for the friendships we've made in class. My new mama friends have been so supportive and uplifting. Mrs. Tessa and her staff are so friendly and awesome with all they do to support military families. Thank you all so much!! I would highly recommend this program to military families.We love Operation Little Learners!

My family is so appreciative of Operation Little Learner (OLL) and all the opportunities it has given to our family. Miss Tessa Davis is always going above and beyond for all the littles learners in this program and it does not go unnoticed. My daughter started the program in 2019 and absolutely fell in love. She was a shy 2 year old who made friends and started to find her confidence in the warm and inviting space provided by ASYMCA. When COVID closed things down this program began being offered virtually. My daughter then had a video each week to look forward to. She got to see familiar faces and singing favorite songs along side a suggested craft for the lesson of the day. Face to face learning is in full swing as well as the awesome field trips that siblings and parents have the opportunity to enjoy as well. Great program and wonderful team members. Thank you ASYMCA for supporting our military families!

Love the Operation Little Learners class.Provides a free parent and me class to learn and do crafts while also making friends for parents and kids.

Armed Services has been everything to our family!!! This is our second year enrolled in their PreK program. Thanks to the amazing staff at Armed Services YMCA my kids have grown so much emotionally, they have access to a safe learning environment. This staff is superb at communicating and we get tons of pictures of the amazing activities the kids do while learning. As a mom, my heart is full seeing how excited my kids are to go to school, I truly believe it's a reflection of how welcomed and loved they feel at Armed Services YMCA!

Every program that they have is dedicated to supporting our military community. I tell everyone about these programs and what joy they bring to our families.

Their pre-k program is amazing! Staff is caring and truly engage with every child on a one-to-one basis. I was impressed seeing that some four-year-olds were able to start writing words and putting together sentences. This place is amazing!

There aren't enough great things I can say about this program. We started OLL in January and have grown tremendously since then. Soleil (1 yr old) didn't participate much at first but Mrs. Jasmine has been able to help her socialize and particpate by creating a trusting environment and allowing her to be herself. Luna (4 yr old) had a hard time with deployment but was super excited to start "school". OLL has given her the opportunity to develop meaningful friendships and is always eager to go to class. she has become more independent doing the classwork and her love of learning has increased exponentially.For me this has also been a welcome space. I've been able to create a village of mom's who know the struggle of deployments and who are in the same boat as me. A place where we all understand the struggle and support one another.I strongly recommend OLL to any and every spouse, whether seasoned or brand new to military life with your kiddos. You will not regret it!Also, Tessa and her team work extremely hard to keep the kids active, interested and excited in their activities and monthly events!
