Lana is a treasure. Norfolk is lucky to have her. She is super knowledgable and super helpful. She is a strong woman business owner and she knows antiques and knows the value. The conversations are a delight. Will be back often. Not sure why this place has a low rating. There is a distinct difference between true antiques and junk tchotchke's. This place deals in antiques.

I was going to just give this store 4 stars but the way I was treated and serviced, earned another star.I was just roaming around looking at stuff at this store when I came across a very beautiful set of candle holders. These weren't just any regular candlestick holders, they're waterford crystals. At first I didn't have the money so I came back a few months later and just my luck, they were still there! What can I say, I have great taste in things. They were waterfords so of course they were above a C-note, 189 to be exact, 250 brand new. Ms Lana and I worked out a reasonable deal because I had to go back to my duty station in Japan soon. The end result was that I left with a beautiful set of candlestick holders for my wife and I! Thank you Antique Design Center for helping make our candlelight dinners beautiful again.

Large store with 2 big decorative mirrors on the building's exterior, perched above their dedicated parking lot. Inside contains a wide variety of items from eclectic periods and regions. As a novice, I was honestly overwhelmed by the amount of stuff, everywhere. My co-worker and I weren't greeted but we later learned the owner, Lana, was present but under the weather without a voice. Her team was occupied with what appeared to be a regular customer. After slow walking throughout the many rooms leading into even more rooms, we didn't spot any antique compasses, the grail of that day's quest. As we headed toward the exit, an employee asked if we needed help finding anything. When we mentioned the compass, Lana, in a barely audible voice, said "I can get it." She took contact info, shook my co-worker's hand and vowed to call when secured. This likely means she has even more stock in storage; understandably, having too many (more than 2) objects of the same type tips the bargaining leverage into the buyer's favor.

I love antique stores. You could possibly call my home an antique store. That being said, I love finding beautiful pieces, in a friendly environment, and at the right or reasonable price. Antique Design Center checks off one of those boxes. I appreciated all of the beautiful antique finds, and thats probably why I'm giving this two stars and not one. Other than that, the store is overly crowded (which makes it difficult to shop), and over priced. I found a 2' x 4' rug listed at $225, which was trampled on and dirty. If it's worth that much, take care of it! Anyways, I've ranted about my unpleasant experience for some time now. If this shop wants to stick around, they need to either find a new price-point, or a new neighborhood because the Ghent demographic isn't like this.

I think I love this place more than life itself! It is truly a treasure chest that I can get lost in for hours - so many beautiful things, both large and small for the new or seasoned collector. And Lana is not only a trip! But she is also very kind and knowledgeable. Scott is a treat as well! SO GLAD I FINALLY STEPPED IN HERE!!! Love, love, LOVE!!!

I've shopped all over this country (and others) in antique stores, thrift stores, second hand stores, vintage boutiques ect... I have learned never to judge a person's wealth by their appearance. This lady has a very haughty air about her and her staff are really creepy. They need a hard lesson on what an antique shopper "looks" like. Guess what? You can't tell because we're all books on a shelf. Snide comments and dismissiveness does not a good business run.It is highly cluttered (I almost tripped on numerous items in the store) and I can only assume she wants to keep all these items stacked unsafely around due to the outlandish prices. She most likely lives in the credit supplied by her inventory.

This place is a treasure trove, from very fine antiques to fun, reasonably priced vintage items -- all price points represented. More original art than you can imagine! Definitely worth frequent visits. Some higherend items can be spendy, but they will negotiate with you.
