First impression of the place, it has a small diner vibe with all glass windows. The place smells and looks clean. Very pretty beach decorations that make you feel like you're in Virginia Beach. The food is to-go and you just go up to order. There's chairs for you to sit while you wait for your order. I decided to go here since I'm originally from NoVa and have been on the hunt for Banh Mi ever since my go to place in Richmond went down in quality. I was a a little disappointed that they no longer sold the Vietnamese food that they had many years ago that I had seen on previous reviews (lemme tell you, I would've bought everything) but I was glad they still had banh mi on the menu. My significant other got a cat fish po boy. Combination banh mi: It is HUGE! the sandwhich is about a foot long. The filling has all of the normal veggies such as cilantro and pickled carrots and radish but the meats were a bit different. There was some sort of sausage in it but there was also your normal Vietnamese ham and pork. I was a bit disappointed that the bread wasn't a Vietnamese baguette. It was a bit softer than that and also looks nothing like it. Still, the flavors were the closest to Banh Mi Ba Le. My quest to find bread that is the right texture unfortunately has failed Newport News and its surrounding areas. But, the meats are the closest I can get around here. Catfish po boy: we got 6" because my partner wasn't super hungry but this thing was still HUGE! we had 4 pieces on fish on it and it was HEAVY. 100% worth your money and it tasted great! Overall, a very big bang for your buck. I just wished they still served more Vietnamese dishes. Next time I want to try their shrimp though.

Great amount of seafood for a very fair price. The greens were as good as I get in Mississippi. The owners are from La, so it's a vast menu.

Yum! Saw all the great reviews and was going to be in the area and love seafood so stopped in and this place did not disappoint! Food: Jumbo Fried Shrimp platter had lightly fried shrimp which were delicious and a generous serving of fries. They were nice and crispy crinkle cut a favorite! Hush puppies were good and the Cole slaw wasn't my favorite but I am particular about my Cole slaw. The 6in sausage po-boy was also delicious and huge! The gentleman who took our order was kind and friendly. There are seats inside to wait for your order but they do not allow you to eat inside even though there are tables. Just an FYI! It's pretty bare bones inside but still good food! Will be back!

update 11/18/2024 - two years later and the food is still consistently good, they haven't gone up in price that much and you still get your food fairly quickly. The coleslaw is still over chopped in my opinion, but the flavor has gotten much better. and I just started eating pork again and tried their grilled pork Bahn mi sandwich. It was really good, the bread was soft, the meat was grilled and flavorful and plenty of pickled veggies and fresh cilantro.

A primarily take-out restaurant that serves fried seafood and Vietnamese sandwiches. There is a couple of small booths if you want to eat your food there.

The seafood was excellent! I highly recommend the fried fish! We tried the Bahn Mi sandwich it got high reviews but I wasn't impressed with it until I put a piece of the fish on it. We tried to go back the next day to get the fried fish and French fries again but they closed an hour early.

The hush puppy recipe needs work. Tony's seafood in Portsmouth Virginia has the best takeout seafood.

I discovered this place a week or so ago. I just moved to the area. I can't stop going. I've eaten there every day for the week I've been here. To management: You should open on Sundays.THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT! THE SERVICE IS FANTASTIC!My waistline has expanded, but that's on me! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
