I moved here 2 years ago and needed a new optometrist. A friend told me about Dr Burns at Albemarle Eye Center. He is amazing, honest and personable. LOVE him. My experience up until today was great. Woke up this morning, while washing my glasses, the temple broke off. I'm a single mom so one pair of glasses is all I can afford. So I went into panic. Who can function without their glasses? Of course I would go to the place I trust to take care of the situation. I HAD to work. I can't skip a day. The optician told me "we don't have glue. We can't fix them." I pleaded that I just need a temporary fix for a few days. Then she asked how long I've had the glasses. I told her "two years" She looked at me like I should buy a new pair. I walked out. Luckily, I'm not defeated easily. I googled another doc in the area, I went to Eye Care Center, 15 mins I was out of there with new temples on my glasses at no charge therefore I don't need to buy a new pair. I will be changing my eye care needs.

Very happy with the team here. Extremely professional, yet compassionate and caring. My appointment was kept with no wait.

If I could give this place a negative 1 star I would. I arrived at 4:00 for a 4:15 appointment I got called back at 5:45 and eventually saw the Doctor at 6:00 pm. My appointment was rushed. I decided to order glasses. I received a call a couple weeks later and was told my glasses were in. I explained I was doing mandatory overtime and would not be able to pick up the glasses for a couple of weeks. The receptionist told me my 60 day window for the glasses had already started. She was sharp and rude and eventually hung up the phone after saying come when you want (yelled loudly and exasperated). I was shocked at the lack of compassion and customer service skills. I will not be getting the glasses and I will be locating a new ophthalmologist.

I had an appointment @ 2:30 and was seen after checking in about 12 mins later... Not bad considering the waiting area was about a third filled... Once in the back for an exam and Dr screening, another 20+ mins... These folks are working it... The frame selection and options available to me via insurance were explained quickly and I was very happy with her work... I like how they work!!!

When I went for my appointment here, I made it very clear to the receptionist that I needed to know the total cost I would be incurring before I actually received the care. I was told by the receptionist (after she said she checked with both the billing department and the doctor himself) that the cost would be $90 and I pre-paid it. After my appointment, I went to the payment window to make sure I didn't owe more and I was told I did not. A few days ago, I received a bill for another $124 which I had no choice but to pay. I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't for more.

ATTENTION VETERANS: Do not bother to waste your time with this place. They will jack you around. They refuse to accommodate the VA restrictions on the referral dates. 2 different locations and both can only set the appointment after the referral has expired.First location in Edenton states they do not even take VA referrals, only Elizabeth city location does. after the torment to getting the referral moved to the Elizabeth city location, they can only get me in......3 months after the referral has expired. TOTAL BS !DO NOT accept any VA referral to Albemarle eye center. request another provider !!!!!!I understand now why they have such terrible reviews !!To Albemarle eye care, your welcome for MY service. BUNCH OF ASS HATS !

After a year of procedures and surgeries and 2 1/2 hour drives. I'm glad I'm done there. I got my glasses done in the same office. On my final visit there I was told that my glasses were NO GOOD FOR ME and my surgeon said I need to see a low vision specialist. I called to get my records sent to me and was told I need to come in and sign a release form although I signed one 2 months ago. My family member called a few months ago and they mailed MY RECORDS to HER in VA. I'm very disappointed. I guess I'm all done there, a refund or partial refund on my frames or lenses should have been offered I have high hopes in my future eyecare. NOT THERE....

I had a new prescription for classes done in January after just moving here. I did not purchase my glasses at their office. A couple months later I decided to get new glasses at a different facility. They informed me that the prescription was missing axis information, and they couldn't fill the order without it. I have contacted the office on three different occasions, to talk to a technician, who is the only one that can help me. So far, I haven't had any luck getting through to one. It's been over a month. Had to use an old prescription to get my new glasses.

Was quoted a price of $140 for an eye exam and when I arrived discovered that I was booked with a doctor that charges $345. My advice to Albemarle Eye Center is that when a prospective patient calls for pricing, you disclose the full range of your pricing and mention that it varies by doctor.
