Service was excellent and staff was very welcoming and attentive. Food portions were large and filling, however the food was served lukewarm and could have used some heating up. Restaurant was cold.

Fantastic BBQ joint for slow cooked Texas BBQ. We are just as excited for the sides as the main courses. The baked beans, mac and cheese, and collar greens are fantastic. The staff is friendly and always recommend something great if you can't decide.

My first experience with A Taste of Texas, enjoyed in the comfort of my home, left me thoroughly impressed--it truly tasted like Texas. I indulged in a variety, including brisket, pulled pork, chicken salad, chicken quarter, mac & cheese, smoked beans, coleslaw, collard greens, and french fries. A feast indeed!While I'm not a barbecue connoisseur, my slightly biased review speaks volumes. For someone not typically drawn to barbecue, this has to be one of the best I've had in Virginia Beach. Each dish was fresh, made to order, and bursting with flavor. Every item on the menu was a hit, with personal preferences leaning towards the chicken quarters for protein and the mac and cheese and fries for sides. Notably, the chicken salad stood out as one of the best in Hampton Roads.In my honest opinion, A Taste of Texas surpasses Mission Barbecue. If you're in the mood for BBQ, this is the place to go. It has rightfully earned a spot on my list of restaurants to revisit, and I confidently recommend it for a genuine taste of Texas right here in Virginia Beach.

I haven't written any reviews for a while and I'm sorry first of all. I have been busy with life work, and family. So we were out and about on the other side of the water and was looking for something tasty to eat. We had been talking about BBQ all this morning and was determined to make a choice today. As always I use Yelp first for all my searches. I have more recently tried Google, always and I mean always go back to my Yelp App. A taste of Texas came up first in my search for BBQ recommendations for me and we are so glad for this choice. You ever walk into a restaurant and the smell makes you wanting? Even before we got our order we were thinking of what we would order the next visit. You ever had a feeling like that?We shared a "Meal Sweat Platter ". Delicious and cost effective at the same time for two. We ordered Beef Brisket, Smoked Turkey Breast and Ribs. For sides we choose baked Beans along with Mac & Cheese. Everything was delicious and the service was very welcoming as well. We also was greeted and served by the owner Tim who is a great guy and professional at what he provides. Prices are reasonable and of good portions. Along with the experience and service we have made A Taste of Texas keeper. You ever ate at a restaurant with good food and service at the same time? We did and you will enjoy this place as well.

AMAZING bbq! We had the pulled pork sandwich and ribs! Both were fantastic and I really loved the Texas vinegar sauce. Tim, Matt and all the staff were extremely accommodating and spent the time to explain the menu to us. Very homey and we will be returning.

Great bbq, I'd say the best we have had in the area. Portions are really big as well. They have a large variety of sauces to pick from as well.

The Brisket was so tender, I could cut it with a plastic fork. There is plenty of seating, and everything is really clean! The collards were fresh and the sinful bacon Mac was absolutely divine! The food came out super quick, and the staff were super helpful and friendly! Thanks for an amazing lunch!
