Food is outstanding. Gotta have the gator tail every time. I filled up on their fries and hardly touched my chicken tenders (which are REALLY GOOD!)Kasey is a sweet girl. We are fans of AJ Gators and this is now our "local" location. Food is always good. Kaya is the best server. We go just about once a week and always enjoy ourselves.

I went to the Chesapeake Square location. I had a very attentive waiter, but it took over a half hour to get a bowl of soup and a sandwich when the restaurant was mostly empty. I was seated where I could see the cooks and they didn't look very busy serving the few customers that were there. None of them had hair nets, and one of them was vaping while handling food.The she crab soup was delicious when I finally got it, and I ordered a corned beef Rueben sandwich, which was specifically why I chose the restaurant after seeing the menu online, but I have no idea what to call what I was served. It was like fried bologna on rye. No sauerkraut, no thousand island dressing, no swiss cheese as described on the menu. I took the first bite thinking maybe the the kraut, dressing and cheese were in the middle, but all that was there was a soggy pickle slice. I should have sent it back, but I was starving and had to get back to work so I ate it.Lesson learned, I won't be back.

Pet friendly outdoor seating. The food was very tasty. The staff were very friendly. I would definitely come back again with my dog.

The Tuna steaks meal from AJ Gators is one of my favorite dishes! The hubby and I enjoy our date night here quite often .The ambience was chill and the food was deeeelish!

We just moved and live close by... decided to try the place out. It was busy for a Thursday night. It is all seat yourself... posted no where & no staff to let you know that. They are severely short staffed. They have plenty of tvs and games & even slots for people to play. Very sports bar vibe. We sat down and the server came about 10 minutes later. Took orders. They had drink specials, when asked what's considered "well"... she didn't know and said just all the cheapest stuff they have. We ordered beers instead. We ordered the filet mignon bites, cheesesteak & patty melt. The bites were edible & came with their tiger sauce. It def was not filet mignon cut. The cheesesteak was pretty good but missing a little more seasoning. The sweet potato fries were a great hit. My patty melt burger was quite sad. Burger was well done & wasn't as cheesy or filled with bacon as advertised. With how dry the burger was... the cheese was completely absorbed and couldn't tell it was even on. I need some sort of sauce to help it eat. If you want cheap & decent bar food... this is the spot. On a side note... the server was flirting & sitting with the table of guys behind us. She did forget or take to long to bring things out... I'm sure she was distracted.& not quite sure what the regulars look like... as a person of color, I was getting a lot of looks from the other customers

Ordered tuna bites they were to over seasoned and burnt. Was told by whom i was told the manager that they were expensive and they were cooked as i ask. No they werent they were suppose to be medium well and instead they were burnt. Even the waitress wasnt sure if she should serve them. This was at chesapeake mall portsmouth blvd. This young kid is not a manager. So they would not cook me another order. He needs to be replaced if he is the manager. Hes just a kid. I will not be going back.

Food was amazing! My server Kaya was absolutely awesome as well! She took care of everything we needed without even having to ask us! Would recommend!

I use to love this place. The beer the food all of it is usually great...until tonight when I watched the entire kitchen staff play with the hair or hats or beards all while cooking and not once washing hands. I had to leave I was too nauseous to even attempt to eat.

this is used to be one our favorite places to eat. We have been going here for years and years. Well, no more. Our waitress was snippy when my husband and son asked for a 16oz PBR...."we don't have those" she said. Not sorry we're out or being apologetic. But they are still up on the shelf with all the other beers they sell. The rare burgers ordered came back well done and just the overall quality of the very shortened menu was not good. We have to drive an hour to get there and it was very disappointing to spend $100+ (with tip) and it be so sorry. Next time we'll go to Norfolk to Hell's Kitchen or Freemason Abbey. Sad to see an era come to an end but hey, that's life. Bye AJ Gator it was good while it lasted.
