19 Atlantic Hotel, Virginia Beach
19 Atlantic Hotel, Virginia Beach, roof top lounge
Hotel room layout. Avoid all rooms in the middle as they do not have windows nor ventilation.
Hiding under the sham not in plain sight
Used soap bar, complete with hair.
This is what I bruised my leg on pretty badly!
Dirty and noisy AC. Staff said all of them here are the same.
Rooftop patio
Rooftop deck on the 3rd floor with smoking availability.
Dirty bed sheets

+ location just near by the beach- performance just behind our windows, which doesn't help to sleep- fairly small room and double bed, which doesn't allow to sleep 2 people at the same bed. - parking behind the hotel is inconvenient. If you drove in, there is no space and someone drove behind you - then you are locked. You can go out only if car behind is mercy enough. Alternative lot is 2 blocks away

Three or four stars, this is a tough one. The location was perfect for me, by Atlantic Ave, just cross the road and you are at the beach and boardwalk. The rooms are smaller than average, which I already knew going in. The bed is also smaller. I like to say it's cozy. Bit of a European feel to it. We paid a little bit extra for window facing 19th st and you get a decent view of the surroundings, you can see the wheel which is lit up at night. We got three large windows, I like the wood blinds. I don't think it's worth it to pay even more for the avenue view window. If you want full ocean view, this isn't that kind place, to begin with it's only three floors high. The check in process was slow. The staff are neither friendly nor unfriendly. Very neutral and non-expressive. At most hotels the front desk would greet guests as they are coming or going, a quick good morning, how you doin, nice weather yea etc. Here nothing, as in not even eye contact or a hello. Not a big deal, but I think it shows they don't really care that much about the guest. There is no coffee maker in the room, but they have a thermos thing in the lobby. With super small cups. If you're not going to give us coffee makers in the room, at least give us proper cup sizes for the lobby. The shower is really good, better than what my I have at home. The bed is comfortable. Everything in the room is clean, but the hallways a bit dirty. The walls are a bit thin and you may hear your neighbours tv occassionaly. There is a fridge and a micro wave in the room. Although the rooms are on the smaller side, it is still very managable. If you have an issue fitting into the bathroom, it may be something wrong with your size, not the size of the bathroom. They charge 1.5 per night if you want to use the safe. What annoyed me about 19 Atlantic was that one morning at 8.30 am we get a phone call asking if we had the heat on at night? Yes, it was like 50 degrees out and there is not even a comforter or blankets in the room, just the sheet. So we were told we can't use the heat because it affects the AC. So maintenance needed to come up to switch the heat off. Within 2 minutes they were up knocking before we were even ready to have staff come into the room. Maintenance said they will come back in 15 min, we said we need more time and the guy just walked off without responding. Then he didn't even show up for an hour. Why was this so urgent that you had to call us at 8.30am? AC is not an emergency and it could have waited. People come here for vacation and staff need to be a bit considerate when demanding access to the room. There are 15 or so parking spots behind the hotel. On weekdays its easy enough to find a spot. They have an overflow parking lot two blocks away. They let us stay in the overflow after check out. They have a rooftop area with lounge chairs and tables where you can catch glimpses of the ocean and the beach. This is a nice addition to a hotel that otherwise doesn't have any amenities.

My stay was from Monday-Friday. The top floor has a convenient balcony overseeing the street. Loved this place. Very clean and great customer service. It really felt like a home away from home! Most definitely will stay here again!

This is a cheap place to sleep close to the beach and the strip. If those are your minimum criteria, you're in luck. My stay also included a friendly cockroach and an interesting blood spatter in the hallway, an exciting hair-filled shower complete with used soap bar, a fun broken faucet handle, and a single outlet placed conveniently in the actual middle of the wall of my sizeable 12x12 room. Luckily my room also included limitless views of the construction site next door and the soothing screech of a broken 87-year-old-air conditioning unit. Would definitely stay again.

I have stayed here about three times now. If you are looking something cheap on Labor Day weekend, this is the spot. But to warn you the AC is punching. And it is LOUD. So at night if you get cold like me pack something to keep you warm. It is always clean and kept up however. This year I was able to park right behind the place. The last two years I had to use the lot two blocks away (not pleasant). Their restaurant next door is good too!

I think if you're wanting to stay close to the boardwalk, nightclubs, etc., this hotel would do the trick. But it was a disappointment for me, my husband, and our toddler. Luckily, we really only needed it for a place to sleep. Our family was staying in Sandbridge and we ended up leaving early each morning and returning around 10 p.m. Pros:- Cheaper than most boardwalk hotels- Nice staffCons:- Extremely basic amenities. No coffee maker. No dresser. No blankets. One nightstand. No bathroom counter space. No pool- Cleanliness definitely not up to par. Marks all over the walls- Parking lot is a DISASTER. The lot right next to the hotel is convenient, but almost always full. We were able to get a spot 2/6 nights. Overflow parking is only 2 blocks away but considering the load and unload spots were full as well, you could end up carrying all of your luggage 2 blocks. Many cars get blocked in as well and it's difficult to maneuver. As we were leaving, we witnessed a fender bender between someone trying to get out and a parked car- Super uncomfortable linensIf we were spending any amount of time at the hotel beyond sleep I would have wanted to leave, but it did a good enough job giving us room to shower and sleep. Note: Because of the other reviews on here, I'm thinking we had a handicapped room because we had a very large bathroom.

This place was horrible, nothing like the pictures they post. Tiny rooms that smell like mold, and the ac doesn't work. There was mold on the walls, a collection of dead bugs on the window and stains on my sheets.. which clearly they weren't washed. The hotel refused to refund me even though I walked out faster than I walked in. Horrible service, they don't even care for their customers... DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE !

BEWARE OF THE ROACHES!!! I wish I could give this hotel -2 stars. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and I don't ask for much, just the basics such as a clean room, decent temperature, and bug-free. Just regular stuff. My husband and I decided to do a quick getaway to VA Beach for a few days. We decided to ignore the 2 star rating and take a chance. It can't be that bad, right? WRONG!! We'll never take a chance without fully reading the reviews again. 19 Atlantic Hotel officially taught us a lesson about terrible hotels. There were some pros about the hotel. It has a microwave and refrigerator. There was parking at the back of the hotel. It's in a terrific location. We could cross the street and be at the beach in less than 5 minutes. Also, it was in the middle of everything...clubs, shopping, restaurants, and fun. No complaints about that. I loved it! However, when it was time to go in for the night, we were met with a horrible musty smell throughout the hotel and the room. The room was dirty. The sheets were stained. I was scared to sleep on the sheets, so I asked for an extra set of sheets to go over the sheets and pillowcases. Also, they didn't give us a comforter. The AC was blasting air all night. So, we were freezing and only had a measly thin sheet to share. Also, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. I was drying my hair with my hair dryer and it set off the smoke detector. I went looking for the phone to alert the front desk. Guess what...no phone! How can we contact the front desk, maintenance, or housekeeping without a phone? That's a basic for all hotels. Lastly and most importantly, there were two HUGE roaches running freely in the room. That's totally unacceptable! By the way, I also heard some scratching behind the bed. I just don't want to think about what that probably was. It was a scary three nights. If you don't mind a bit of dirt and roaches, go ahead and stay here. Just bring some Lysol and bug spray. If you have some standards when it comes to where you stay, please skip this hotel. You've been warned.

Worst experience in a hotel to date. Small room. A/c not cooling and making loud noise. No blankets on bed. But there was sand in our bed. No breakfast. One plastic cup in the room. Loud, loud, loud until 12:15 am. Parking was blocks away. Owner was rude. Never, ever stay there

The room itself was barely okay. However, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the lock was broken anyway, and there was no vent or fan. The beds appeared to be clean but we wiped everything down anyway. Would only stay here again if it was the only room available. That is what happened this time, being a holiday weekend we couldn't be choosey and they had no other rooms at all.Staff was friendly. Parking was tight but that is to be expected. At least we were close to the action. Our main complaint had to be with the bathroom, and there being no fan.
