Virgil's Gullah Kitchen & Bar - West Midtown

We went during their happy hour and so some of their dishes were slightly discounted. We ordered a huge amount of food since so many items sounded good. The Cornmuffins were sooo good! Slightly sweeet with the sweet potato puree and honey butter drizzle. And it had a really nice soft bite to it which is impressive considering it is also vegan. Both the jamup wings and the Fishamens nuggets were super flavorful too! I really liked the catfish (nuggets). Super tender and soft. The gumbo was straight fire too! Such a rich and deep flavor, I only wish I got the larger portion because it was so good. Service was friendly and pretty quick with all of our food. The inside interior was also fairly quaint and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal from start to finish!

Food was decent. They got my first order incorrect (I mentioned I had a food allergy & they still added the particular item). The menu could be expanded a bit with more options & also revised for items they no longer offer but still advertising. We had a great time dining at Virgil's Gullah! The food was fantastic, especially the Seafood Basket and House Salad that I ordered. My friend had the Afta Church Plate, and both dishes were packed with flavor. We also tried the Yella Boi drinks, which were a perfect complement to our meals--highly recommend them!The atmosphere was lively, though it did get a bit loud due to a party happening in the upstairs lounge. If you're looking for a spot with authentic food and don't mind some energy in the room, this place is a must-try. P.S: Special shout out to our waitress. She was great!

While on my trip to Atlanta, my friend brought me to this really southern beautiful spot. It's very cute a very large venue. I went there for lunch and I have the fried green tomatoes which were delicious. I ate it all. I also had the shrimp and grits because why not have shrimp and grits while you're in the south Both dishes were amazing. The cocktail was pretty OK. It was just a standard margarita. However, the service was amazing. They constantly came up to check on on us and making sure food is good. This was a pretty dope spot. However, the prices are a little steep.

Y'all... Hear me out!!! #FriendFridays at Virgil's is THE BOMB!!!!! When I say Bomb I mean the absolute entire up jump the boogie bomb. I ended up here last night as Markus wanted to get a drink. As you know, I never pass up a trip to Virgil's as their Wings give me my whole soul stirring life. In any case, we get there and Virgil's is LIT!!!! The DJ has upstairs rocking out. Yes, I'm talking track after track of hits and an adult vibe that makes you want to be in the building every single week. Best of all, it was a party without the discomfort of the club. It was just a Vibe!!!!As always, I ordered my Wings and Babeeeeeeeeeeee. Yet again, who-so-evers uncle/grandma/aunt is in the back cooking showed all the way OUT. I'm talking crispy on the outside. Tender and moist on the inside. Perfectly crunchy. Perfectly seasoned. And most of all, Babeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. That drizzleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I have named it the Yabba Dabba Doo Sauce. That sauce has me in a chokehold. It rivals my love for Polynesian. Ha!!!Thank you Virgil's for the Good Vibes, Good Food, Good Service, and Good Time!!!!!

Virgil's is 100% that THING! Stopped by for my first time today and, from the moment I walked through the door, I knew I'd be back on future visits to the A. Warm, inviting service. Beautiful artwork from the doorway & all throughout the venue celebrating Black life & culture--including the colloquialisms that make us smile, as well as a beautiful collage paying homage to the restaurant's driving force. All of that plus $25 bottomless mimosas + an amazing array of remixed brunch classics like Gouda shrimp & grits and chicken w/ sweet potato waffles = one AMAZING brunch! Shout out to Khali for the excellent service to our 10-person party!

My mom kicked things off with the bottomless mimosas, a perfect start to our meal. We began with the Bussin' Cornmuffins, which are made with sweet potato puree and drizzled with honey butter--pure bliss. The Gullah Eggrolls were another standout, filled with vegan red rice, cabbage, and shrimp. These are a definite fan favorite and for good reason!For our entrees, I had the Slammin' Sammen: a perfectly blackened salmon served with jasmine rice, Geechee fried corn, and a delectable crab cream sauce, garnished with a fried oyster and shrimp. It was a symphony of flavors that I can't recommend highly enough. My mom opted for the Afta Church Plate, featuring four Jam Up Wings, macaroni and cheese, and greens. Each bite was like a comforting hug from grandma's kitchen--simply divine.To cap off our meal, we indulged in some delicious desserts. My mom went for Unc's Bread Puddin', which was rich and satisfying. When Visiting Atlanta, You Don't Want To Miss A Dining Experience at Virgil's Gullah Kitchen & Bar! The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, the staff was friendly, attentive, and passionate about providing wonderful customer service. Last but not least I ordered the "Afta Church Plate" & "Bussin' Cornmuffins" and the food spoke to my soul!! Tender Savory Greenz, Rich Macaroni & Cheese with a perfect crispy cheese top, accompanied by Whole Fried Wings seasoned to perfection & drizzled with a house sauce and Delicately Spiced Sweet Potato Cornbread Muffins! Must try! 10/10

Good was delicious and we had a great server. Parking was not difficult even for an early Saturday afternoon.This was my first time visiting the Midtown location. I had a great first time visit experience at the Conyers location last November as well.
