The broth was incredible! Slightly different than what I've had at any other pho spot but in the best way possible. The service was excellent and the interior is decorated really cute!

Tommy and Jaylin served us. Food was delicious. Just wish they had a little bit more indoor seating. 9/10 experience will definitely be back again.

Food and vibe is good. Came during weekday afternoon and it's pretty empty. Shout out to Max for the great service!

Came back! Had to review it again because this time it was 5 stars. This time, I had the short rib pho. When I went the first time, they did not have sate available. This time, they did! It contained lemongrass, which made it unique and flavorful. Their broth also improved. It had more depth of flavor. The broth had a perfect balance of star anise and bone broth. The meat was the best part. It was so fresh and flavorful. I wish I had asked for double the meat. Next time! Will definitely be coming back. It is crave worthy.

First time trying this place after a friend's recommendation. I can easily say I will be returning again soon to try a different dish. I ordered a Thai tea as my beverage, and bun thit nuong as my entree. Bun thit nuong is cold rice vermicelli topped with grilled pork, basil, mint, salad, gía, and a few other items like crushed peanuts. The fish sauce, or nuoc mam, is on the side for dipping. They also include a few egg rolls for more flavor and textures which makes this a moderately priced restaurant considering the area. I enjoy restaurants that specialize in a handful of entrees, and Viet Nom only has maybe 4 or 5 entrees and multiple sides. I like to think restaurants with small menus that are successful know what they doing and aren't just mimicking Dennys or Cheesecake Factory where they don't specialize in anything. The service was excellent as any questions I had even down to the pronunciation were pleasantly answered. Water refills also came without even requesting them unlike some chain restaurants I've been to in San Diego where you have to flag people down to get any help. Decor is very clean and nice with giant fans plastered across one wall and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The music playing at the restaurant is more modern music and seems to fit for the proximity to UCSD and the age demographic in the area.TLDR: I'll definitely come back for more.

After watching a movie at the amc theater in the UTC mall, we decided to go to Viet Nom for a quick bite to eat in the area. While the pho nom (bone-in short rib) looked very good, I decided to go with the boneless short rib with meatballs due to the price and the fact that I wasn't very hungry. We also ordered a shrimp spring roll as an appetizers to share and that was very good.Tommy, who was our server/cashier, was quick to take our orders and also gave suggestions on what to get. Overall, I will be back here to try their bone-in short rib noodles when I am back in the area due to the quality of the food and service.Parking: Plaza parkingPrice: $$Recommendations: Pho Nom

WOW. Wow wow wow. It's been a minute since I've been googly-eyed, mind blown, jaw dropped, and just overall impressed by a random yelp find but this... this was incredible. My party and I arrived within 15 minutes of it opening and was seated and served promptly. Since it was early in the day, the Vietnamese coffee concentrate was not ready so we weren't able to try that drink. However, all the noodle soups that we ordered were superb, flavorful, and oh-so-filling. The most impressive dish is their signature Pho Nom which is bone-in short rib with the standard set of pho noodles, broth, meatballs, etc. Highlight of the meal: The bone-in short rib is GINORMOUS and incredibly TENDER. I simply cannot rave enough how generous the portion was and how supple the meat was cooked. There was a lot of love and effort put into this dish and will keep me coming back. I usually am able to down a bowl of pho with no problem, but there was so much that I found it remarkably hefty to finish that bowl with just one person. All other pho bowls were equally high quality and of redeeming quality - the broth leans more on the sweeter side than I am used to but I appreciate it. I also enjoyed the fried sesame balls - a great dessert! The restaurant runs on a smaller side, with around 10ish tables open for dining. I can see it getting very busy quickly with a long wait (which is much deserving given the quality and quantity of their food). During the day, lots of sunlight flows in from the floor to ceiling windows which is nice.

I came here twice in one week because I enjoyed my first visit a lot and brought my husband the second time so he could enjoy it too. Between the two visits, I tried the boneless short rib pho and the bun thit nuong which was their version of vermicelli noodles with grilled pork, egg rolls and vegetables. Both were very good. I love the flavor of the broth for the pho and the short ribs were very tender. For the vermicelli, the egg rolls were very good and the pork had a good flavor. Good portion sizes. Their menu selection is smaller than most pho places but maybe this helps them focus on doing well on the items they do have. This place is casual. A decent amount of seating but they can fill up fast. Both times I came - first for lunch and then for dinner- they were almost full. I only saw one person working each time but they were both friendly and fast in their service. Located in the Renaissance Towne Center so there is a decent amount of parking but the spaces are small! We will definitely be back.

My daughter treated me to a pre-Mother's Day dinner here. It was our first time visiting this restaurant and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered the chili tamarind wings to share. I ordered the pho short rib, meatball (boneless) and my daughter ordered the bun thit nuong. We enjoyed the food and thought everything was well flavored. The pho broth did not disappoint. My sister-in-law makes great pho, and this broth is compatible to hers that is typically cooked overnight over low heat to get a nice rich broth. Our server was pleasant and brought our food out at a decent time, piping hot.We loved the decor! There's even a backdrop with a Vietnamese straw hat for photo ops. We weren't in a mood for pics, so next time!...

Found out about this place when I went to Formoosa. Came in for dinner on a Saturday night and there were a few tables so there was no wait.Short rib (boneless) pho - the broth had a very strong star anise flavor but I wanted some other flavors to come through. The short rib was very tender.Egg rolls - the egg rolls were crispy and very filling. I've never tried taro ones but it was still good.Chili tamarind wings - very crispy and flavorful! I highly recommend the wings.
