If you are looking for something unique, this is a place to add to your list to try. They have some basic flavors or get one of the specials. I think I counted about 22 options. This is "snow" which is kinda like shaved ice but better. My opinion is that the fruity flavors are best. For those counting calories, this is a great option to get your sweets and not feel guilty about it. This is a special treat, not your average dessert. I had the halo-halo which combines taro flavored snow with jack fruit, coconut, red and white beans, and an ube paste. A little taste of the Philippines. Got the smallest size, 12oz, which was plenty but there are larger options especially if sharing.

An indulgent treat! Definitely on the pricier side, but the quality of the ingredients makes sense on why. Smooth & creamy texture that doesn't give you the heavy feeling in your stomach that ice cream normally does. There are A LOT of flavor options to fit anyone's palette. The service was quick & friendly. The area is clean & feels open with the sofa & 3-4 tables inside. Would definitely go back again.

I was really excited to try this place. When your kids are dairy-free, going out for ice cream isn't the easiest thing to do so we were excited for a dairy free alternative. We came here on a 90- degree Saturday afternoon anticipating a line out the door for icy treats. There was no line. And the last two customers had abandoned their snow treats barely half eaten on the eat-in counter. They do not have kids sizes/prices. So I ordered two snow confections for my husband and me & two small 7oz strawberry snows for my kids. The employee said I was better off ordering a 12 oz for them because it would cost less. I asked if they could divide the 12 oz into two servings. No they could not. $37 and maybe a 12 minute wait later we dug into our snows. Our kids liked 'em well enough, but that's only because they don't yet understand the value of a dollar. To my husband andme, we both agreed these things--think ice cream sundaes with the ice cream replaced by flavored shaved ice--tasted like regret. Like we would have been more satisfied spending half the price (for twice as much) on Hawaiian shaved ice at a flea market. Why did they have to overcomplicate it? Something tells me this place won't last long. I mean if they can't sell snow on a 90-degree day, I'd say the writing is already on the wall. This just isn't the economy for $10 snow sundaes. Next time we're in the mood for a cold treat, we'll be going to Dairy Queen or 7-11 for a slurpee or the flea market for a shaved ice. Vampire Penguin bled us dry.

We ordered several of these for the staff. They were pretty and pricey. Couple of us thought it was overly sweet and others were ok with it. We decided not to get it again for those reasons. A few people took a couple of bites and threw them due to the sweetness.

I love this place! It's clean and staff are friendly and engaging. I've pretty much tried all their flavors and I already have my favorites. This is nothing like shaved ice... think of it as the adult version. They call it shaved snow - light, fluffy, and creamy shaved ice with a much smoother texture. My favorites? Bubble Gum, Halo Halo and Strawberry Cheesecake. I've tried these cool treats to-go at least three times (taking 4-5 at a time), and I throw these in the freezer when I get home. I pull them out and let it sit on the counter for about 10 minutes and the smooth texture is back!

I am so happy I tried this spot and so happy it is near me! My son is over the moon for their cotton candy and I am in love with the Mexican candy! Since then we have recommended a few friends and they love the place as well. The customer service is great and they make everything from scratch so it is a little wait but worth it! The inside is cute and decorated with a little penguin vampire and they have a nice little seating area and two tables to enjoy your dishes! Back to the Mexican Candy! Omg it melts in your mouth! Tasty goodness! It has watermelon chunks and is tangy, sweet and cold at at the same time! So refreshing! Makes me want more just making the review!!

My first time at Vampire Penguin was in Sacramento, California and I was shocked to see one here in Arlington!We ordered the 16oz strawberry cheesecake shaved snow and got a butterscotch beer that tasted just like butter beer! The consistency of the shaved snow is more dry than shaved ice so it doesn't melt as fast and it's the perfect dessert to share! The workers are so nice! They'll bring your order to your table and once you're done, you leave your dishes and they'll clean it up for you! The tables were nice and clean. Highly recommend!

Came to Vampire Penguin in Marysville while on vacay this past summer at the recommendation of a local. Wow! So unbelievably different. It's like a combination of ice cream and shaved ice - it's really hard to describe the texture but it's amazing and light and fluffy! It's definitely on the pricier side - so a treat but oh so fun. The name of the store is taken from a book and they even sell the books here. We read it and we're surprised to find it's actually a quite sad story. Lots of seating, lots of light, great place to come for something different!So why 4 stars instead of 5? Well 1) it was pricey 2) we didn't get quite what we ordered but it was still yummy and 3) I was charged a fee for using a credit card even though I paid in cash. (I did eventually get it refunded after someone called the manager but how many people are being charged a 5% fee here for a credit card and not realizing it when they paid cash? Eek!)We will definitely be back next time we are stateside in Washington!
