We arrived a little early for our reservation so they took us to have a drink at the back bar. The back bar is where cocktail magic truly happens and you can only have back bar drinks at the back bar (FYI). And, the restaurant cocktail menu is different. We did most of our meal as tapas and it was delicious. The mushrooms and elote pasta were fabulous. The cauliflower was a little sweet for my taste. The server promised us that the pretzel would be one of the best we've ever had and they were right. It was fabulous. The real standout was the chocolate cake with frozen sunflower seed mousse. What?! That was crazy good and the whole table was eating mine! (Definitely large enough to share.)Service was great initially but definitely slowed to a crawl towards the end. Our plates were left on the table for a long time before we were offered dessert. Go for the interesting menu and know the service might be slow.

TLDR: Overall, I thought the food was really good but I personally don't think the experience justified the price point. A couple friends and I went to Valentine to celebrate a birthday. Our reservation was for 6pm and we were seated without delay. We ordered drinks (2 margaritas & 1 glass of wine), and that's where we noticed the service begin to slip. It took nearly 10 minutes (in a mostly empty restaurant) for us to get our drinks. We only got them after we saw them sitting in the edge of the bar ready to go and *we* signaled to our server (who was putting together silverware & napkin sets) that they were ready. Overall, our server was just not very attentive or friendly. I think at one point the restaurant manager said something to her about her attitude, because she did perk up a bit toward the end of our meal. Listen, I get it - I'm in the service industry and sometimes you don't want to deal with people. However, when your livelihood kind of depends on being hospitable, it's to your advantage to fake it til you make it a little bit. Regarding the food, we ordered 4 things to share:-crispy cauliflower - freaking delicious-little gem salad - dressing was very balanced, loved the crunch of the sunflower seeds-elote pasta - the star of the show. I would come back so that I could have a plate of this all to myself! -smoked chicken - juicy inside, crispy skin, really nicely done. The ambiance was nice! Definitely a unique and eclectic spot. However, I feel that the menu items (as delicious as they were) and service experience (sub-par) made it a bit hard to stomach the final bill. And before you say anything, yes I knew the prices & menu before I walked in. I'm happy to spend money on great food & fabulous experiences...I just felt the latter was lacking.

Finally made it in to Valentine and I'm glad I did. This time I visited for breakfast, which was delicious but I'm more interested in coming back for dinner. The atmosphere open, and cute with large windows, and a vintage store attached. It's a causal vibe, you go up to the coffee bar to order. We got to Valentine at 9 when it opened and it was busy from the get go, so plan for that especially if you have a large group. The quiche was yummy and I was impressed by the crispy, flaky crust, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. I enjoyed the salad it was served with. Well dressed with lots of flavor. The Squash latte was probably my favorite part of the meal. Like a muted PSL -- not too sweet but warm and flavorful with notes of Cinnamon. Yum!

I went here for a celebratory dinner with my team for the launch of our magazine. I've never been before, but some of my teammates have been to the bar and/or for breakfast/lunch so I took their suggestion. I walked in and I fell in love with the ambiance and low lighting, but as soon as me and the first half of my party that arrived early and were seated, our server gave me very strange vibes. This might sound stupid but when they asked us if we are celebrating anything, I excitedly told her the occasion, and the entire time they were giving me this straight faced, thousand yard stare. I don't judge a person off their facial expressions off the bat (I have RBF too lol), so although slightly unsettled, I brushed it off. Here comes the main reason why I gave this place a low rating. It was mainly a lot of miscommunication by both us and the server regarding the cake we brought in from a different establishment. This cake was custom made from a local AZ family bakery, and the design on the top had a design on it that cost me extra money as it is our organization's newest logo. Only me and one of my teammates knew what the cake looked like, and its design was gonna be a surprise for the rest of our team after dinner. As soon as the other half of my party arrived a few minutes later, they brought the cake with them, and the server came back around and offered to put it in their back fridge/freezer. They did not clarify that there would be a $20 charge once "the cake hits the table" until almost to the end of our meal. While I kind of understand there being some sort of charge for outside food, I was mostly annoyed that the server did not clarify this earlier. Also when I made the reservation online on Resy, I mentioned that we were bringing a cake. Nevermind that I also thought the price was pretty high just to cut a cake? So my team and I debated on whether on just leaving with the cake to avoid the fee, but decided to take the L and pay up in order to have the convenience. The manager walked past us right after we told the server to *bring out the WHOLE cake*, who overheard our confusion about the price and said "they'll bring it out with a candle". That was nice to hear...until I saw the server bring it out already cut into separate plates. Also there were no candles like the manager had said just minutes earlier. I really tried to be reasonable and empathetic but I still cannot comprehend how the server didn't follow our instructions, as we even said we'd like to take a picture of it. We ate our slices and ask to see the rest of the uncut cake to show the team of what the rest of it looked like. The cherry on top was the fact that we were "accidentally" charged twice for the cake cutting service ($40), so we had to request it to be fixed (later the manager found us again in the parking lot right after we left the restaurant to ask us how our service was, and she clarified that the charge was $20 because there was some sort of professional chef. Which like, okay fine I guess. My frustration was unfortunately just compounded upon from the moment I got the the establishment, despite me trying to be reasonable. The manager was pleasant but it's mostly the server and their service that made it a very weird night for me and my team. We will not be returning at all.

OBSESSED with this spot. Valentine is an amazing breakfast/ brunch + dinner spot + they have a speakeasy + a vintage store all combined, what more can you ask for!! The interior is both cozy and trendy + there is seating outside, and they sometimes even have live music! I have been to Valentine twice for brunch now and will most definitely return to try out even more of their menu items. They have some of the basics and also more unique brunch dishes, and they do all of them so well! Also, their pastries are to die for-their pastry chef is also a James Beard award semi finalist so you know what you are getting is top tier! Also have tried both their matcha and squash latte (sounds weird but is amazing) and I love both. The most recent time I went I tried the tamale bowl which was absolutely delicious and the first time I went I tried the valentine dog and their tater tots. I have never had a hotdog like the valentine dog (especially for brunch) and the tater tots had the perfect crisp and toppings. The squash latte is a must try, it has a super warm fall flavor which I loved and their chile chocolate chip cookie was one of my favorite cookies I have tried in the Valley!

Another first rate meal at Valentine! As always, the servers are eager to share the highlights on the menu as well as their favorites, and to guide you in ordering shared bites for the table. All of the suggestions were delicious with surprisingly large portions... We were very happy to come home with leftovers!

Love the vibe at Valentine, the location is perfect, there is onsite parking, and the menu is kind of funky which is totally up my alley. It's counter service for brunch on the weekends and seated dining in the evenings. I love how they incorporate local and tribal ingredients for a splash of culture. I've tried many items at Valentine and they have all sounded amazing but to me, they were just okay. I gave it a few tries and it's just not for me. The chiltepin latte and the blue corn shortbread have been my favorite items. The bologna appetizer was good but it's bologna... lol. The elote pasta is a classic but it was disappointing for us. The tamale breakfast bowl came with a huge masa cake but wasn't actually a tamale and was also disappointing. It's always packed so obviously it's for a lot of people! Def check it out if you're into funky stuff.

I am so obsessed with this place. I love the vibes in here and the customer service is always great. I typically always get a vanilla latte and one thing I never forget is the pine nut croissant. When I tell you this is the croissant I have ever had, you need to get it! Run, don't walk.

Super cute inside, very friendly staff and good food! I'm actually looking forward to coming for dinner as that menu looks more interesting, especially crudo. As it were, I had the burger which was quite good and love tots instead of fries. It was nothing new or mind blowing but great flavor and hit the sport.I tried their chamomile Manhattan and it was good and unique. I rarely, probably never order a Manhattan at restaurant since I can make those at home, but they had a unique spin and it was quite tasty. I'd order that again!Don't miss the cute mcm shop that's attached.
