Popped in for a quick and early dinner before a movie at the Angelika Theater. The food literally came out SO QUICK; service with a smile! The staff were so friendly! My go-to Thai dish is eggplant; usually with crispy tofu! Medium spicy was perfect. The drunken noodles with shrimp were also delightful.Super cute URBAN Thai restaurant!

Came here for lunch with my mom and cousins. We ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer. To eat, my mom ordered the red curry spice level 1 with shrimp and white rice. My cousin, T, ordered the drunken noodles with steamed tofu, no garlic and onions, spice level 1. My other cousin ordered the tangerine chicken with white rice, it came with broccoli. I had the pad thai with no green onions, fried tofu, and spice level one. While ordering they have a spice scale of 1-3. Thoughts:- The portion size for lunch is humongous. These look like sharing plate sizes. - coconut shrimp this time around was really heavy on the coconut flavor and overly sweet! Maybe they used sweetened coconut?? Not sure, but we collectively agreed it was too sweet to enjoy. It kind of reminded me of the coconut macaroons (the one that is basically shredded coconut and condensed milk). It was nicely crispy though and the shrimp was piping hot. The sauce needs to be reduced down a little more since it's quite liquidy! - pad thai had everything separate from each other. It was a gloopy thick blob on the plate, I had lift it in the air to mix in the beansprouts, crushed peanuts, and tofu myself. There was some lime wedges on the side. Even though I separated the noodles, I think because it's thin rice noodles-- it was difficult to eat and chew (you have to do it slow or you'll choke). I loved the fried tofu, but I would not order the pad thai again. - the tangerine chicken was really crispy. I wish the sauce coated the chicken more rather than being all over the plate. The sauce was pretty thin-- despite this my cousin said it was citrusy and enjoyable. He liked the broccoli a lot and the presentation. - the red curry had really good spice. It was creamy and so lush. The vegetables tasted fresh and delicious. My mom enjoyed it and so did we. It tasted delicious. Would order this again, I think the portion size was perfect for lunch. Not too big and not too small. I'd recommend getting a drink-- one of the teas or coffee. Delicious pairing for the meals. Definitely very shareable.

Skip this place if you're gluten-free! My mistake for not calling ahead but their "house sauce" contains gluten so the fries rices, stir fry & noodles are mostly out. Settled on pad Thai & yellow curry. The curry was great (not what we were craving but it worked out). The pad Thai was rubbery and sickeningly sweet - it's been a long time since I've eaten pad Thai so it's possible that is how it's supposed to be but I could feel the corn syrup hit my bloodstream in the first couple of bites . Service was perfect & price wasn't unreasonable, but there's cheaper food that's authentically made (so you can customize GF) nearby, so...

Visited for the first time with high expectations. Lots of great reviews. Was a bit disappointed with the ambience and decor. Didn't really feel like a Thai restaurant. More industrial-like with black steel and concrete. The service was fast, but inconsistent with difficulty ending the meal and receive our check. Not sure about others, but waiting long for the check is a real pain. It ends the experience on a low note.Food was good, but still hoping to find authentic Thai food. The papaya salad was fresh and very tasty. Drunken noodles pretty spicy at a level 2. Pad Thai a bit sweet and the orange color was different. When reviewing an establishment, two main questions would be: would you recommend? And would you return? Yes to both of these is a successful achievement for the business. For Urban Thai Kitchen, would I recommend? Maybe and would I return? No. Thank you for the hospitality though.

Flavor Budz Check-in! First thing first, I love the fact that this establishment is open late as late as 11 p m. We came in about 9 ish and the staff was super friendly very helpful It was very obvious that they worked really well together. The vibe there was super lay back and chill. My husband and I ordered the Crab Fried Rice and the cheesy Wong Tongs, we heard that those were the locals' favorites, so we decided to give it a try. Both the appetizer and the main entree were brought out together, and we were impressed with the portions and the quality of the ingredients. I don't get paid for sponsorship, nor do I get any incentives for my views or opinions. I will say that this place was amazing, and it is definitely on my list for places to visit while in san diego.

This place is a solid 3.7/5 - not bad but nothing really blew me out of the water.Food: I thought the presentation was extremely underwhelming.. the massive flat plate only really emphasizes the small portion and I think this place is a bit pricier than your local thai spots. I thought the shrimp was cooked well which is a win. Flavor was pretty good but considering the warnings from my waiter about how spicy my dish was gonna be, I was disappointed when it wasn't spicy at all (I have an average tolerance to spice but it was spicier when i've ordered to-go at the same level?). Service: We came in when it was pretty empty and our waiter did his job fine. There was a female worker that I felt stared at me a little too much? idk if she recognized me somewhere else? I just tried to politely smile then look away lolAmbiance: I think this is the winner of the place. It definitely has a cute vibe and would be a nice spot for a date or to catch up with friends. The decor and semi-open kitchen look is attractive.

I'm giving them a 1 because of their website. It has been three years since their website has had all the flash and no menu. Has someone talked them into a website that is impossible to get the menu via iOS? I was told to go look on grub hub and that was murder. Fire the web guy and just get a basic website that people can actually use. Please. It's difficult enough finding a restaurant you love that you don't order from very often because the menu is non-existent. I always want to try something new but can't because I can't get to the menu :/ and I'm getting bored. You can't hardly hear the person you're talking to, so you can't ask them to go thru all their new stuff. Sucks to be us - I've talked to people in line at pick up and they say the same thing. There are no take-out menus. So please, crap or get off the menu - make your website work!!!!

Worst place ever! I ordered tofu tamarind and it turned out to be chicken. Mind you I have a meat allergy and am a vegetarian for lifelong. This place is unacceptable when confirming it was tofu. When contacted no one is as able to give a refund and the front desk kept referring back to the manager. This is completly unacceptable and disgusting. Highly don't recommend this place at all.

Fast takeout service gives this rating a boost, but my food was pretty disappointing :(The pad see ew was super mushy and i couldnt even get a whole noodle strung out of it cuz it just kept breaking from being overcooked. The pad thai noodles were a bit overcooked too but not as bad as the pad see ew. The only thing i really enjoyed from the meal was the salad cuz it wasnt just rice porridge texture Im sure this place is better eating in, but the takeout close to opening was super sad
