Came for the tasting menu and it was outstanding. No point reviewing individual dishes. They were all beautifully prepared, very creative, and full of flavor! You could feel the love and soul in every delicious bite. The entire staff was personable and friendly. We talked about our favorite TV shows and moves :) if you are considering trying urban hearth out , just do yourself a favor and do it. I have already made reservations to dine again next month. So that should say something. 10 out of 5. outstanding experience!! I forgot to photograph one dish because I was so entranced by the experience Oo

Having won bostons best chefs counter, we were excited to try this place. It's only a 4 seat chefs counter and it was the best seat in the house. It was a joy to watch them prepare dishes throughout the night and all the chefs are so nice and friendly. In regards to the tasting menu, they are farm to table and chef Erin loves foraging with the menu changing daily so you really get the best, freshest ingredients and it was very fun to not know what we were getting next. It was five course total with small bites in between. Everything was beautiful and delicious. Chef Erin presented most of the dishes to us herself and really took the time to describe every element. The experience was so memorable and we truly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here. We will definitely be back!

Wish I could give it 6 stars! We sat at the Chef's counter and had one of the most delicious, interesting and inventive meals of my life. The vibe was homey and laid back, Chef Erin was chill. Everything was *beautifully* presented. Lots of fresh spring herbs (some made into sherbet or gels), edible flowers, a little crab in the fresh made pasta, the main course was duck two ways, a first dessert of nuts, cheese, digs and chocolate and the second dessert (!) was a spruce gelatin thing. Yes, dessert had a dessert appetizer! Thank you again, and I cannot recommend this spot more for a special occasion. (I wanted to add pics but the Yelp app keeps bombing on me).

Last night, I finally tried Urban Hearth. It has been on my list of places to get to for a while, but it wasn't a place I wanted to try with my five-year-old, so I had to wait. The restaurant is tiny, 24 seats in total, with a little kitchen in the dining room. There are some additional seats outside too in good weather. Our reservation was for 7:00 and it seemed like just about everyone sat down at the same time. All the empty tables and even some seats outside filled up at once, making for a slightly frantic start to the meal. I ordered a very nice Summer Boulevardier with bourbon, strawberry infused campari, and vermouth. I also got a bottle of French Chablis. It was Bastille Day after all!The style is farm-to-table with shared plates, perfect for date night. We opted for five small plates, skipping over the larger ones. First to arrive were the Crispy Harissa Duck Wings which were falling off the bone like slow cooked ribs. They were intensely seasoned and served with addictive bread and butter pickles. I would have bought a jar to take home if offered one. Next came the scallops, which were so beautiful. They were garnished with a bacon agrodolce and bbq snow peas.Next came my favorite dish of the evening, Smoked Bluefish Pâté served with grilled focaccia. This dish is worth the visit alone. I'm not one to sit out on Mass Ave, but I think I might go back and sit outside and just have the pâté and a glass of wine for dinner one night. The last two dishes came roughly at the same time. First to arrive was an off menu special of squash blossoms stuffed with rice and goat cheese served over a fennel salad. One bite into it I was in heaven. The rich goat cheese and the fried blossom balanced with the acidic salad was perfect. A moment later the quail arrived. It was semi-boneless and halved, decadent with a bright green tomato sauce. Quail is one of my favorite meats and the preparation was outstanding. There is a lot to like about Urban Hearth. The space is charming and the service is friendly. But the real reason to go is the food. Every dish was exceptional. Although the pâté was my favorite, I adored the squash blossoms almost as much. It still isn't the place I want to bring my kid, but hopefully we will find a way to get back. Maybe he can sit outside with me while I eat pâté.

This is a small restaurant on Mass Ave with easy access to Davis Square or Porter Square. There is no need to bring your dinosaur juice burning SUV monstrosity to this venue and try to find parking.Reservations way in advance are a *MUST* especially if you are going to try the Chef's menu; as I understand you need a party of 5 to tango for that and get seats on the counter looking into the kitchen. We were a party of two so we opted for the inside seating. During good weather the outside seating along Mass Ave. is an option but I did see a couple of dogs with a party. Apparently, dogs are allowed in the outside seating. I like dogs and have a dog but I am not going to agree with dogs at a restaurant (inside or outside seating) UNLESS we are talking about a service dog. And "emotional" support animals don't count either for accompaniment to a resturant. Order out or pop a prozac like 40% of the population if you think you need to take your non-service animal to a restaurant. Rant complete. By the way, before I forget this is probably not suitable for any humanoid under 14 for the sake of the other clientele. The inside ambiance was quiet despite being a small place and the proximity of the kitchen. The air-conditioning kept it all comfortable despite the exported Florida summer weather outside. There was an airy feel to the place. Food was excellent. There are the small and large plate options; think of the small plate options more akin to tapas. We went with multiple small plate options. Portions are tapas sized; if you have a big appetite then best to go for the large plates. The following were very memorable:Quail; delicate flavorStriper; this was a special so not sure if it is available. Very well done!Tuna sashimi with water melon. Unique preparation for sashimi but well receivedThe dessert was a similar small plate with what was raspberry reduction (I think) in collusion with a not too sweet feta-like-texture cheese. Whatever it was exactly was very good! My friend has the house sauvignon blanc which he rated as excellent and I tried the white ale which was good.Service was very good! And enabled us to have leisurely meal coupled with ra a range of conversation encompassing next years elections. In general a highly memorable dinner with good food! Recommended!!!

Excellent food and amazing service. The staff all have the patience of saints, especially when dealing with people like James K. Apparently James K. hasn't been wearing his Big Boy Pants for quite some time, and has forgotten how to perform simple tasks like answer his phone or respond to texts. If he's too busy to pick up his phone, he's much too busy to make reservations at an upscale restaurant. Don't be like James! Instead, enjoy a nice meal and perhaps a fancy drink at an amazing restaurant!

Now that I gave five stars for great food, atmosphere, and service up to a point, let me complain about tipping. As a customer, tipping in general is a horrendous way to pay servers. This restaurant takes 5% to pay kitchen staff. Why not pay them 5% more and add it to the food price?

I felt compelled to write because my recent dining experience at Urban Hearth was second to none. Upon entering the dining room, the vibe was welcoming and relaxing. The entire staff was super friendly and personable, including our server, who answered our menu questions with master-level insight. Her suggestions were 100% bang on, and my expectations were perfectly managed when we discussed the "slow dining" concept. Everything from the biscuit to the paella was an absolute joy (alongside a refreshing Cava). 10/10 will be back soon. I highly recommend you make (and keep) your reservation. You will not regret it.
