My daughter and her fiancee found this place to hold their wedding reception after searching for a few months. The owner Lisa was very accommodating and really went out of her way to work with us both in terms of getting us access to the place early on the Saturday and allowing us to pretty much decorate the place as we liked. The Uptown Hideaway is probably the most comfortable place I have ever been for a reception and all the guests commented how much they liked the warm, cozy feeling of the space. We have over 130 people at the reception and it never felt crowded or difficult to move around. I would highly recommend that you look at this space for any reception or party - Lisa is wonderful and you and your guests will have a wonderful time.

My apologies to the wonderful people at Uptown Hideaway but This review is WAAAYYY over due. Back in November 08 my partner and I hosted a commitment celebration (along with about 85 guests) at Hideaway. We both fell in love instantly with the incredible layout, combination red brick, wood trim mixture and homey fireplace. The modern art, open room/space and lower ceilings really gave us a cozy but cool city loft feeling to host any sort of party or gathering even a ceremony! ! Lisa was a pleasure to work with and just made us feel like old friends. There was enough decor provided for a really solid start and foundation for us to work with in order to create the most amazing tranformation into our personal, ideal party/celebration environment. ALL of our guests commented on how amazing the place looked. With Ravishing Raddish as our local caterers and equipment set up, a friend Jim Carlin helping create our decor and cake Uptown Hideaway became breath taking. There was enough space for the ceremony and could easily be laid out properly and comfortably for all of our guests and servers to sit and eat the great food. I haven't even mentioned how incredibly affordable this place is as well. We were able to create an amazing environment but still have enough money to bring in fabulous food, professional photographer and lots of beverages for all! The location was perfect for out of town guests who were all set up at MarQueen Hotel and Inn at Queen Ann. Walking distance to all of the restaurants. Again, long over due but....Thank you Uptown Hideaway!!!! It was the best party I have ever been to. Sincerely, Jean and Marnee Ceremony 11/9/08

I recently attended a birthday party here and it was like being at home but better!Really fantastic venue for a party! This spot is hidden on the corner of 5th Ave N. and Aloha! It's a wharehouse loft feel with a homey twist. If you are looking for a venue for lots of options this one should be high on you list. They have a dance floor, fireplace with little vinnettes all througout along with couches and chairs and a full kitchen.

The Uptown is super cute. The owner, Lisa, is really easy to work with. Everything is great about the place, and there was only one real thing that I didn't love. The speakers are terrible. We had a 100 person wedding there, and Lisa had told us that plugging in our ipod to their system would be sufficient. She turned it on and turned it loud and it seemed perfect, however it was a totally different story with all those people in there. I wish she would have disclosed that their system is really old, because renting speakers would have been an easy and cheap solution. As it was, the speakers kept shorting throughout the entire wedding- about 15-20 times throughout the night. Kind of a bummer. One other thing: Uptown allows you to bring your own booze, but you MUST GET A LIQUOR LICENSE FIRST. It's on the contract, it's clear, but I missed it and that almost sucked. Luckily, it's easy to get, but if the event was starting when the liquor stores were closed, we would have been screwed.

I was the Maid of Honor at a wedding here recently, and the venue absolutely fit the bride and groom. It is a bit hard to find, but its a Hideaway, right?! The atmosphere is really great - low lighting, brick walls, wood floors, a fireplace. We had about 75 guests, and I feel it would have been too crowded with any more. While the ambiance was fantastic, there were two definite issues: there is ABSOLUTELY no on-site parking and we experienced the same sound-system shorting out as a previous reviewer had mentioned. We'd be dancing up a storm and the song would suddenly stop. Several times. The wireless mic also had to be pointed at just the right degree, or it would cut out as well. As for parking, There wasn't even a parking spot for the bride and groom: they had to walk over from their hotel since it wasn't raining (somebody would have dropped them off if it had been raining). This is a huge inconvienence for guests that drove from out-of-town that couldn't just walk over, as parking in the area is extremely limited anyway, and was frustrating for all of us who had to get everything out at the end of the night! For this reason alone, I'd almost give it 2 stars, but the atmosphere it provides is so special, I have to give it 3. The bride also menioned how great Lisa (the owner) was to work with. If most of your guests are from the Queen Anne area, or if everybody is staying at a Queen Anne hotel (read: everybody can walk there), you'll be A-OK!
