Upper East Bar

It was my friend and I's birthday weekend- our Bdays are one day apart! We planned to start at Upper Easter Bar, which it located on the rooftop of Hotel Solomar. We found seating by the pool and flagged down a staff member to get started.We ordered the palimosa and prickly mule to drink, but were surprised that our drinks came out in plastic cups. I did see empty drinks in pretty glassware though.After browsing through the menu, we decided to share the Bayou tots, street tacos, and blackened salmon.The tots were loaded with andouille sausage, a melted cheese blend, and remoulade. Everything was nicely plated and was very filling! The food was pretty good, but service was a bit slow. I liked that there was live music and that we were able to enjoy a nice view of gaslamp as well.

This rooftop pool bar and terrace was the best thing at this Kimpton hotel in Gaslamp. We came here to hang out a bit after settling in our room. The terrace was cozy and cute with bright colors and artificial lawns which I liked a lot. We ordered a few drinks at the bar, it was chilly but the heaters were working fine. The Mezcal specialty cocktail I had was sweet, smoky and strong, I find most specialty cocktails were on the sweeter side at the bars in San Diego. This is also a sports bar where you can watch sports sitting at bar tops. The pool was tiny but it was heated with many chairs and cabanas free for hotel guests to use. Just can't imagine how does that little pool work for hotel guests in summer times? We spent some time at this rooftop terrace, couches were comfy and intimate. Fire pits and heaters warmed us up quite nicely. I'd come here for drinks and hang in summer times cause I really liked the cute style of this rooftop terrace.

A nice little spot in the 4th floor of a hotel. Very open area and comfortable seats. I came here just before a Padres afternoon game so it wasn't to busy. There seem to be plenty of people around to check on us. Food and drink are pretty typical hotel prices. There is a pool that you can get a day pass to, but really isn't big enough to do anything. I would come here again before a game for a drink or two.

Came here with a few friends for dinner. The dinner menu didn't have much of a selection. A couple of us got a steak salad but the meat was definitely not steak. It looked like cut up Carne asada. Definitely wouldn't come for dinner again. The drinks were delicious and the staff was very accommodating. The outdoor seating on the rooftop had a nice layout. They had heat lamps all around so it wasn't too cold. Nice views! We saw fireworks from the Padre stadium

Lovely spot to just grab a drink and hang out. Went while the Padres was playing so it wasn't busy. I'm pretty sure it gets busy afterwards.

A-OK as a 3 star says! YELP rules, read people! Don't get me started on five star ratings of a McDonald's...Even during Covid restrictions, we were at ease. Would return, staff is supreme. Poolside was nice. food.. decent. Service friendly and accommodating! Thank You

We came to this place regularly for many weekends, and hung out by the pool while having drinks. We would buy a lot of drinks (8+) every time. The manager was super nice, we met a lot of friendly people in the pool, overall just had a lot of fun and at times it felt like a big pool party.Then one day, after we had been coming to this place for the entire summer, around Fall, a male staff member (not the manager that we had had a lot of good interactions with before) came up to us one day and said "you have to pay $30 per person to hang out up here and use the pool". Seeing as we'd been here probably 20 times and this point and that was NEVER the case, no matter how busy or slow it was, we were a bit shocked. Then he said "that's always been the case." You see, that part was the issue because it was a lie. We had actually entered the facility as the only people there several times right when Upper East opened - it was just us and the manager. Also, we had a birthday party there with an assigned server in the past (homeboy didn't know that), and this was NEVER the case.So unfortunately, that little lie and them forcing us out unless we paid $30 out of NOWHERE, has resulted in us never going back, never recommending this place, no longer hosting events there, no longer showing up every weekend and purchasing food and drinks, and telling friends this story. Life is too short and there are too many of these places to put up with nonsense like that. Just tell the truth, we weren't born yesterday.
